Sesshomaru

I wasn't expecting her to be able to open it without being cut.

"Sesshomaru! Come on!" She said.

I followed after the Miko. As we headed off in a direction she looked at a weird contraption in her hand and then shook her head. She walked into what looked like woods. She spread her Reiki out again. She kept moving, but I could see liquid form on her forehead.

"We have about a three day journey since we are on foot. With your speed we could go faster, but I don't want to risk you using it." She said.

She looked intent on fulfilling her purpose of getting me home. She didn't say much after that she just focused on the terrain ahead. We walked until midday. During that time the Miko kept drinking and eating small portions to keep her energy up. She wanted to keep going and I could see that she was exhausted.

"Miko? We should rest." I said.

She looked back at me and then pulled out a weird grey thing. She looked at it, and then back at me.

"Not yet. We need to keep moving. If you're hungry I can give you food." She said.

"No Miko. You need to rest. Let Sesshōmaru carry you." I said.

She looked surprised, relieved, and then unsure.

"What about the bag I am carrying? Would you be able to carry all this weight?" She asked.

I was offended. If this Miko knew about my life she would know I was capable of anything. I picked her up roughly and I started running at demon speed. She yelped and I looked down at her. She was glaring at my chest and suddenly I felt her tense. She knew I was staring at her. She knew well enough not to point that glare at my face. A while later she offered me food. I glanced down at her. It was a piece of meat that looked dried.

"This Sesshōmaru won't eat that. It looks and smells weird." I said.

I was starting to get hungry, but I wouldn't tell her that. She didn't need to know so I looked ahead ignoring her. Then I felt the weird food against my lips. I glanced down and she was biting her lip.

"I'm not stupid Sesshōmaru. We have been going for hours. Just try it?" She questioned.

"Is it poisoned?" I asked.

Her face scrunched up.

"No, however it's not exactly healthy." She said.

I glanced down at the odd looking meat and opened my mouth. She looked up at me surprised, then she glanced at my mouth. A slight red color spread across her face before she slowly placed the food inside my mouth. I could taste the flavor of her skin. She let go of the meat and slowly pulled her hand away. I closed my mouth and started chewing the meat. It had weird flavors I had never tasted before. The next thing I felt against my lips was something I had never seen before. There was liquid in a clear container. I didn't know whether I should trust it or not.

"It's water. I don't know if it will taste like the fresh water from your time, but it will wash away the flavor of the meat." She said.

She took a sip from it. I apparently was supposed to suck on the bucket.

"What is that?" I asked, around the food.

"A water bottle. It's essentially for storing water." She said.

I put my lips around the thing she did and sucked. Liquid filled my mouth. She was right. There were many impurities in this water but it was enough to help me swallow the meat.

"That was unpleasant. This Sesshōmaru will just hunt for himself." I said.

She nodded her head and put the water bottle as she called it away. She looked down at my chest.

"How much longer do you want to go?" She asked.

"Until nightfall." I said.

"Okay." She said.

I continued running and before long she laid her head on my chest. She was still looking down, not meeting my gaze. She closed her eyes and I felt her spread out her reiki again.

"We are ahead of schedule. We shortened our trip by at least a day. We have a head start in case anyone comes after us. You should be safe." She said.

"What about you?" I asked.

She finally glanced at me.

"If anyone does catch up to us then I'll stay behind. You would need to keep going, okay?" She asked.

I felt conflicted. Why would she offer stay behind? I could clearly take care of myself. Before I had a chance to speak she spoke.

"I know you can protect yourself. However it's still best that they catch me and not you. Just in case." She said.

"This Sesshōmaru is capable of protecting himself." I said.

She nodded.

"I don't doubt that, but you would be in danger in this world if anyone found out your abilities were real. They would turn you into a breeder or worse." She said.

She looked down at her hands. She looked troubled and didn't say anything else. A short while later she was asleep.

"Stupid human." I mumbled.

She knew who I was so why wasn't she more afraid of me? If she continued to sleep we would just travel through the night. I could sense a path in front of us that was marked with traces of her power. It led all the way to our destination. Did she know that I would continue even if she fell asleep? Perhaps she thought I would continue on alone. Well past the sun setting. Soft snores came from the human and all I could wonder was why she felt the need to sacrifice herself to protect a demon from another time.
