Just an FYI: The list of episodes that I will base the order off of is the one that they actually aired, not the order that is on the DVDs (of which I have all of). This is because, when I was writing down the episode list for my own use, I was actually at work and had to look it up. This only really affects Season 1, because they went really wacko in the order on the DVD on that one.
The episode referenced in this one-shot is Season 1, Episode 4: The Miracle Job.
The legalities. I do not own any of the Leverage franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au.Rated M just to be on the safe side.
Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!
Hope you enjoy!
Prompt: "This is the first and last time I am giving you permission to punch through the walls."
"That's not going to work."
"Yes, it will."
"I don't believe it will."
Pru, without actually moving her head, looked up at the main door of the offices of Leverage Incorporated to see Nathan ford and Sophie Deveraux, two of her co-workers, standing there. They seemed to be arguing about something or other, probably having to do with their current job. Or with Nate's drinking, one or the other. Pru rolled her eyes and continued writing the letter Nate had asked her to write. It was probably about the drinking.
While she didn't know the whole story, Pru had gotten the majority of it from Alec just after the team had returned from Kentucky and helping Eliot's ex's father. She'd had to go with and seen firsthand both Nate and Sterling's rivalry and Nate's excessive drinking. So, she cornered Alec in his office the night they'd gotten back and threatened to hide the orange soda and gummy frogs if she didn't get the whole story now.
So, he'd told her what he knew. And she'd proceeded to, every time she was alone in the office, check every nook and cranny for hidden liquor bottles so that she could limit his drinking some. Pru understood all too well the desire to crawl into the bottle after the death of a child; she'd watched both of her parents die from it after her younger sister's death from cancer and her older sister's suicide a month after that. She was not going to watch someone else die from excessive drinking on her watch.
She heard a thud on the wall next to her and looked to her left, though she could already smell who it was. Seeing Nate looking between his fist and the wall, Pru inwardly sighed as she set down her pen and leaned back in her chair. When he looked at her, she raised an eyebrow back at him.
"Nate."
"Sophie gave me permission."
Oh, heaven help her, the members of this team were all going to be the literal death of her. "Alright. And I think that this will be the first and last time that anyone will be giving you permission to attempt to punch through the walls. However, and I know that I've only been with the team for two jobs, don't you think your time would be better spent debriefing with Alec and Eliot? Alec said that he had found out something from the phone number they got off the gangbanger who attacked Father Paul."
Nate raised an eyebrow and began to look around. Pru just rolled her eyes and pointed towards Alec's tech room, where she knew the hacker was holed up. When Nate 9finally) went to join him, Pru sighed and stood up to go find Eliot. Someone needed to talk to Nathan Ford about his drinking. She just knew it wouldn't be her.
