It's time. This is the last trial, and the hardest. Everything we've done has taken us here.

Cynthia, a character I cherished and looked up to as a kid, has gone from an epic character to battle to someone who could very well send me and my team to the purgatory.

She's still mommy though.

I enter her room, and the amazing piano music begins playing, the music that gives PTSD to so many Gen 4 players.

And then the battle starts, with also my favorite champion battle theme of all times, the one I am often seen bopping to... But this is no time for bopping. This game is no game.

Spiritomb, the forbidden Pokémon. Formed by 108 souls, this ghost whose host is a mysterious rock is no joke. It's the Pokémon Cynthia leads with, so I must be prepared.

I immediately tell Lmao to yawn. She uses Dark Pulse, and then Lmao leaves her in the yellow with an Earthquake. Then Spiritomb uses Silver Wind, arising all her stats, and right after Lmao's previous yawn finally kicks in and she falls asleep.

Another Earthquake from my Quagsire leaves her at 1hp, but Cynthia uses a full restore, so I heal Lmao to prevent him to be oneshot now that Spiritomb is once again awake.

Spiritomb uses another Silver Wind, and then leaves Lmao in a very low yellow with Psychic, but he yawns one more time, and I use a hyperpotion. After another Silver Wind, Spiritomb succumbs to sleep once more.

Since Lmao's Earthquake has no moves left, he lands a Waterfall instead. That awakens Spiritomb, who uses Embargo. Lmao then uses his last Waterfall left, and then...

Dark Pulse kills him. Lmao is dead. The battle has just begun, and I only have 4 Pokémon left... But I won't give up.

Our lord and savior Madoka comes out, and delivers the final blow on Spiritomb with Dragon Pulse.

Garchomp is Cynthia's ace. This Pokémon is known for making well-trained teams drop like flies, but I am not going to let him intimidate me. I used to beat him as a child, so today will be no different.

It starts with Brick Break, hoping to break Madoka's hard skull, but our mighty goddess tanks it like a pro and oneshots Garchomp with a Spacial Rend.

There's no fooling around with the Goddess of Salvation.

Lucario makes a brief apparition, throwing an Earthquake at Barbara and then immediately retreating, giving way to the very elegant and poisonous Roserade, who takes the Aqua Tail that had been meant to hit Lucario.

For obvious reasons (type advantage and all) I switch to Jotaro.

Roserade uses Extrasensory, leaving Jotaro at just 1hp, so I use a hyperpotion. Luckily, the next time she uses that same move she deals less damage, so Jotaro successfully ends her with his gift of Flight.

Ever heard of the phrase "be careful who you call ugly in school"? Milotic is the very depiction of that. It evolves from the not so attractive Feebas, and yet it is known to be the most beautiful Pokémon to be.

Beauty doesn't grant immunity to poison, and thus O'ren Ishii successfully intoxicates her.

Milotic lands an Ice Beam.

O'Ren uses Barrier to increase her defenses, and then lands a Sludge Bomb.

Milotic lands another Ice Beam, and O'Ren repeats her last move.

The pattern is broken when Milotic uses Mirror Coat, and it leaves O'Ren in the red, so I use a hyperpotion and Cynthia has a similar idea and uses a full restore.

O'Ren poisons Milotic again, who returns to the ice beaming strategy.

My Tentacruel then resumes chipping away with her Sludge Bombs. Soon enough I need to use a hyperpotion, ans then the chipping continues until Milotic is no more.

The next Pokémon is Gastrodoon, the pride and joy of Jaiden Animations.

Jotaro returns, delivering an Aerial Ace... But that's the last time he'll deliver anything, because Gastrodoon kills him with a single Muddy Water.

Madoka comes out to avenge the fallen buff bird, and leaves Gastrodoon in the red with a Dragon Pulse. However, Cynthia uses a full restore, and Gastrodoon retreats, making way for Lucario.

Lucario, however, takes the Spacial Rend Madoka was about to throw at Gastrodoon, and dies.

Gastrodoon is back, and the last thing the slug sees is Madoka, readying the Spacial Rend that will be its end.

Just like that, I've won the Nuzlocke, with half my team still standing.

Cynthia, elegant as ever, leads me to the Hall of the Fame, where I register Barbara, Madoka, O'Ren Ishii... But also the late Betsie, Lmao and Jotaro.

Rowan, Lucas, even Abortion... The whole region congratulates me, as I am the new champion of Sinnoh, and now I can proudly say that I have finally completed a Nuzlocke victoriously.
