Reaction: Christmas Meetings
3rd Person POV
?: Let's continue with another alternative.
As the words reverberated through the room, most of the students groaned im response.
"I don't think I can handle another video like the misphrasing one."
A student from Ryuen's class muttered in dismay. Quite a few students seemed to agree with him.
Ryuen: What are you talking about? That's the most hilarious shit I've seen all day.
On the contrary, a larger percentage seemed to hold the same opinion as him.
Katsuragi sighed.
"It's easy for you to say, because there wasn't anything related to you, Ryuen."
Ryuen looked at him for a bit, before letting out a smirk.
"Kuku, you might be right."
December 25, Sunday
Time: 5:53 p.m.
Ayanokouji POV
After walking quite a distance from the dorms, I finally arrived at the place. It was a fairly known cafe in the campus.
Cafe Ebony
Looking around for a minute, I entered the cafe. The moment I pushed the door, the entry bell rang aloud, as a staff welcomed me.
The attention got shifted as soon as the video started.
Kiyotaka: Not again.
Apparently, he wasn't the only one who thought that.
Several of his previously traumatised victims groaned in frustration. They don't think they could handle anything more of what his curious mind does this time.
Ike and his friends: Please, just keep us out of this.
Normally, one would think about my reason for coming here in a Christmas evening of all days.
Well, I have a few appointment.
And I picked this place as a suitable rendezvous spot.
Usually, this placed would be pretty packed during a time like this. But due to the inauguration of a new cafe across the floor, the customers have mostly been taken by them. This place was still half-filled, and I had already booked a spot for me. A seat by the counter.
Chiaki: Question. Is this the first year or second year?
?: It's the second year.
Mori: Ah, so it still didn't technically occur here yet.
Nishimura: I doubt it would anyway, since it mentioned to be a different timeline.
Chiaki: Regardless, there is bound to be some similarities.
The others nodded while watching.
I looked around to see if anyone has arrived, but as expected, I was a bit early. I took my seat at the counter and started to observe my surrounding.
Since today was Christmas of all days, the whole Keyaki Mall was decorated splendidly, and this cafe was no exception. The lighting was enough to make it stand out from the outside. Inside, there were two small Christmas trees at the corner, along with the crisscrossed strings of colorful bulbs. The lights reflected off the polished, wooden surface, which radiated a unique glamour. The chandelier at the middle of the ceiling only added to the charm.
I could see a few groups hanging out along with a few couples, mostly the seniors, and fortunately, nobody I knew.
"Man, holidays are the best."
"Yeah. I can't wait for all the hangouts."
"It's honestly the same for me, since I always sleep at my room."
There were some waiters, working to serve the customers, and an old man, who I assumed was the head, working with a coffee machine and conveying the orders directly to the kitchen.
I grabbed a menu and started to see if there was any special offers and discounts for today.
"..."
A couple's discount huh...
Sadly, that won't work in my case today.
My girlfriend, Kei, was sick and at bed rest for the week. This could have been one of the things we tried together. Or maybe she would have pulled me along to that new cafe that recently opened on the other side. Knowing her, she definitely would.
Kei: What?! No way!
She didn't like that small detail of her being sick on a Christmas of all days.
Maezono: That's...really bad luck.
Shinohara: Yeah. Being sick on a holiday is the worst.
Sato: Poor Kei-chan.
Kei started to count her days and make sure not to catch the flu in this timeline. She couldn't afford to waste a whole Christmas, with her boyfriend nonetheless!
Ichika: If you are not with your girlfriend, then who are you meeting senpai~?
Kei's alarms immediately went off as soon as she heard the cheeky devil speak. No matter how infuriating she finds her, she couldn't deny the fact that Ichika raised a good point.
Sato: hmmm~
She also paid extra attention. The others now seemed intrigued in these new course of events.
Kiyotaka: I was trying to ignore it, but this seems unavoidable at this point.
I sighed and started to check the other offers that I could afford.
Just then, the entry bell rang, signaling that a customer has just arrived.
I looked over, and saw the first person on the list who I was supposed to meet in this spot.
To be precise, she was the one who wanted to meet.
"Good evening senpai~"
A sultry voice greeted me as the person approached quickly after seeing me. She was the type to attract attention wherever she would go. But more than that...
"...hm? What is it? You've been staring for a while~"
Amasawa Ichika asked me with a delightful tone.
Ichika jumped on her seat in delight.
"How surprising~! It can't be helped if you cheat on her, since I am more charming, right senpai?"
Kiyotaka: Of all the people...
Kei: Heeeh~ how interesting Kiyotaka.
She smiled eerily, not moving her eyes from the screen.
Sato: How cheeky, Ayanokoji-kun...
She pouted in annoyance. If he was going to cheat anyways, he could have invited her too.
Ichihashi: Bad bad~
Sudo: Well, like I said before. He's too good to be just Kar-
He immediately shut up, sensing the glare of the said girl.
Ryuen: Humans are naturally polygamous. So it can't be helped if he's honoring our ancestor's traditions.
Kaneda: According to the collected data from the ethnographic atlas codebook during 1960-80, polygamy was said to be a pretty common occurrence in society.
Ryuen: Kuku you are as always so knowledgeable. Not bad, Kaneda.
Kaneda pushed up his glasses and smirked.
"A pleasure."
The duo received odd looks from the rest of the classes. Some couldn't help, but agree with what they said, but didn't dare to voice it.
Ibuki: A bunch of perverts!
I snapped my gaze back.
"Oh! Could it be you liked my new hairstyle senpai?" she twirled around her hair, after asking me that.
Truthfully, yes.
"I don't I've ever seen you with your hair down. You also seemed to have cut it a bit. It suits you."
Amasawa had always gave me an impression of a twin pigtail succubus who was never up to any good. But now, seeing her in this new form gave me a strange feeling. Another thing to note was her surprisingly stylish winter outfit.
"Areee~ is senpai trying to flirt with me? How bold of you~" she giggled as she took her spot beside me.
"Even if Karuizawa-senpai is sick, you shouldn't do funny stuff behind her back."
"It was just a compliment. Never mind that, how do you-?"
"Oh silly~ of course I would care about the well being of my favorite senpai."
Right. I almost forgot how annoying she could really get when she wanted to.
Kei: You seem really infatuated!
Kiyotaka: I am innocent, Kei.
Kei: Yes, I know. But it can't be helped if I still feel a little upset, you know.
Kiyotaka nodded, thankful for her understanding. It seemed she had come to terms with the fact that this was going to be regular occurrence from now on.
Nanase: You are always looking to cause trouble for him.
Ichika: How mean~ I just want to spend time with my favorite senpai~
Her genuine yet sultry tone resulted Kiyotaka getting some jealous looks in the process.
Amikura: See? Even Karuizawa-san isn't mad about it. So please calm down, Honami-chan!
Honami: Huh? What do you mean? I'm perfectly calm Mako-chan.
Amikura looked down quickly to see her hands empty this time. But she could swear she saw a knife a second before. Perhaps, it was her imagination after all.
Amikura: Ah...my bad.
"Oh, senpai! Were you looking at the menu? Lemme see, lemme see!"
She quickly snatched the menu from my hands and started humming, while skimming her index finger across it.
However, she didn't take too long to choose.
"Excuse me~ we would like to get this one please," she put the order quickly without even consulting me. The old waiter nodded and smiled, before walking away.
I looked at Amasawa and raised my brow.
She noticed my stare and grinned.
"The couple's offer really looked good and pretty cheap."
"Not the point here, Amasawa."
How annoying. I knew she would do this the moment she grabbed the menu. I just hope we don't get spotted and cause unnecessary confusion.
Asahina: She is the perfect embodiment of a homewrecker, I would say.
Ichika: Thanks for the compliment, senpai!
Asahina: Huh? No, it...wasn't...
She couldn't respond due to how startled she was.
Hashimoto: This little date might be more chaotic than I thought.
Ike: I would normally be jealous, but from the experiences of the previous videos, I think I want to be out of screen for good.
His friends nodded vigorously.
Sotomura: You can't tell what fate has in store, Ike-dono.
Ike: Stop jinxing it, Professor!
Miyamoto: Yeah. Everytime you say something like that, it somehow uncannily ends up happening.
"Speaking of which, how did you spend your Christmas last year senpai?" Amasawa genuinely asked, looking at my direction.
My first Christmas at this school.
It was...alright.
I remember going on a double date with Satou, back when Yousuke and Kei were still a couple. I also remember getting my first confession at this school...and also the rejection afterwards. Most of all, getting first hand experience at how snow feels like was the most sensational thing for me.
Time really does go by.
Sato became embarrassed a little from that mention. Her friends started to tease her, trying to divert her attention from that rejection part.
Suzune: You haven't felt snow before, Ayanokoji-kun?
She seemed a little surprised, catching that detail.
Kiyotaka: Well, yes.
Suzune: Oh...
She suddenly recalled it was mentioned before that he was raised in some sort of facility. She didn't know the exact details, but it definitely struck her oddly that he had never felt the sensation of snow before. Certainly gives you the idea of what kind of childhood he had had to experience.
Suzune: Did you like it?
Kiyotaka looked at her for a moment.
"I definitely did."
Suzune nodded and smiled.
"I am glad then."
I looked at Amasawa, who was smiling and eagerly waiting for my response, aware that I was collecting my thoughts.
"It was fun."
"Reallly?"
I nodded.
"Reading in books and seeing videos can't compare to the real thing. I would say my first Christmas was mostly enjoyable."
Amasawa listened and nodded, as if she understood what I was referring to.
"I agree senpai~ I didn't think I would be able to have this much fun as well. Coming and staying here wasn't a bad choice."
Listening to these two white room students discussing their first experiences as high school students, conjured heartwarming yet sad feelings for the Chairman. He wondered if more of these deprived children would be able to enjoy some moments of life which they never had, albeit temporarily.
"It's just a pity that..." she murmured to herself, but seeing the melancholic look in her eyes, I could understand what she was feeling right now.
Since he was gone now, I might be the only one with whom she could talk like this.
Though I wonder, what was the real reason for meeting me today?
Nanase glanced at Ichika, but the latter seemed to be just smiling at the screen while dangling her feet.
At that moment, our order arrived as the tray was placed on the counter.
Yes, tray. Singular.
Because all I could see was a single bowl of pasta and two hot chocolate coffees on it.
"Please enjoy," saying so with a warm smile, the old waiter walked away.
I blankly looked at the tray, as I felt Amasawa's cheeky glance at me.
"Weeell~? Shouldn't we start senpai?"
She voluntarily moved her seat close to me so that we could share the meal. Now that I noticed, she smells quite-
No, wait.
Kiyotaka: Curse my thoughts
He thought while feeling several stares at him.
Suzune: Quite a keen sense of smell you have, specially around women.
Kei: Not a nice habit, Kiyotaka~
Honami: I-I hope he doesn't mind the perfume I use.
Ichika: Aww why didn't he finish his thoughts? Now I can't know if I smell good or bad~!
Her whining only increased Kiyotaka's headache.
Hashimoto: No need to berate him. It's a natural instinct for both men and women. Unless you come off as a pervert and deliberately show the other person that you are smelling them.
Some girls made disgusted expressions, recalling certain guys like that, while others understood his point of view.
Arisu: fufu Defending him now, I see.
Kouenji: It's only natural to smell the food before tasting it.
Kiyotaka and Hashimoto silently shared a mutual look of camaraderie.
"You can eat first. I'll take the rest later."
I suggested, not to make this situation awkward than it already is.
"Hmmm~ but wouldn't it get cold by then? You don't need to worry about me senpai. Enjoy your meal first!"
I am worried, but not for you.
A small laughter arose from the audience, seeing the awkward situation he was in.
I tried to see her motives, but this seemed like just another one of her reckless stunts. I suppose it's best to just get this over with before she stats her reason for meeting me today.
Also because the pasta was getting cold and looked delicious too. It would be a waste not to finish it.
I glanced around for a moment to see if there were any curious eyes, but found none. I suppose, it was the time when people focused more on themselves and with their close ones.
Unless, some people were actually lifeless enough to eavesdrop on other's conversation even on a Christmas. Yes, I am talking to you Hashimoto.
That sudden call-out by Kiyotaka, caught Hashimoto completely off guard.
Ryuen: Kukuku he's right. You need to restrain that nasty habit of yours a bit.
Katsuragi: Can't say I disagree.
Arisu: Fufufu...
Kanzaki: Definitely a sly bastard.
Kamuro: hmph serves you right.
Hashimoto: H-hey now...he must have been joking when he said that..haha..
Shit. Why did he had to say that!
From this small talk alone, the other students started to get a little sceptical of Hashimoto, even if they didn't show it.
Kiyotaka offered his sincere condolences to the comrade.
I grabbed a fork to start eating, as Amasawa followed my notion. As expected, it was really good. I took a sip off the coffee before starting a conversation using an opening topic.
Yes, I've learned to do so by now.
"Speaking of which, you seem pretty popular among the first years. Do you have a large social circle?"
I was curious about it, since she always seemed a bit enigmatic.
"Well...I won't deny that. Girls can become popular easily with just looks alone. And since I am so cute, it worked for me even without trying," she casually responded. Saying how good she looked and stating it as a fact of sort.
I am definitely not jealous of her.
Ichika: fufu~ it's okay senpai. It can't be helped.
Kiyotaka: So it seems.
"I see."
"Ah! I do have a decent social circle. But I am not particularly close with anyone, as of now," she added.
Not close, eh? I feel like I can relate to that.
"Except Nanase-chan I guess. She is cute and I like her company," she said with a beaming smile, as if recalling something.
Nanase made a grunting noise while holding her forehead. Ichika only kept annoying her more. The others could guess from this that the likability was a bit one-sided.
"Oh, what about you senpai~? You've been here longer than me. So you should have made some friends too right?" she asked, peering into my eyes.
She was trying to throw a jab at me.
"Well, Can't say I didn't. But you should already know, being my stalker and all," I lightly joked.
"What? I don't stalk you anymor-" she quickly covered her mouth.
Huh?
"A-anyways senpai. Tell me about something," she quickly changed the topic.
Sudo: O-oi! I think we glossed over a pretty serious topic just now!
Kei: Ugh...that little...
Hashimoto: Y-yeah. That's right!
Kanzaki: Is stalking a running trend at this school nowadays?
Amikura: I-I know right?
Mori: Stalkers are the worst.
Chiaki: You can't tell. They also might have some circumstances.
Shinohara: The point still stands.
Watanabe: Hey is it me.. or is Amasawa-san a red flag?
Shibata: She is definitely the bigget red flag I've seen, man!
Ike: I gotta agree with you dude.
Ryuen: Most of the girls surrounding that freak are just as crazy.
Hiyori: E-even me?!
Ryuen:...Are you deaf? I said most.
Hiyori sighed in relief.
I nodded my head, giving my attention to her.
"Do you like this place?"
I tilted my head. This place? As in, the cafe?
"This school, I mean," she clarified.
Ah.
If you ask that question to a normal student, you would probably hear some complaints here and there. The replies would vary depending on the hierarchy of the classes and years.
We stopped eating the pasta, as it was close to finish, and started sipping the coffee.
"I do."
"...can you tell me why?"
Her usual demeanour was nowhere to be found, meaning she wanted a serious answer from me.
"First of all, to be honest, I've learned things here I would never have back in the White Room."
From that familiar mention once again, the audience fell silent as the jolly mood had disappeared.
Suzune: Things he never he would have learned ...I think I can guess what it is.
I wonder if this was their purpose from the very beginning.
"Mm-hm. I thought it would be boring at first. But the system around here really changed my mind."
"More than that, it's getting to do the things ordinary people would do. The sense of liberty."
Amasawa nodded and smiled, as if understanding my perspective.
"Amasawa."
"..yes?"
"How are you doing?"
It might have been strange of me to ask at this point, but she will get what I am talking about.
"...ah. Yes, well, about that..."
Last time I met her was before the trip to Hokkaido, when she was still recovering herself mentally from the incident. She also had declared that she wouldn't attack me anymore while I was here.
"I think... I am moving on gradually..."
She said so, but sounded unsure.
"You don't have to force yourself. At the end, the only one who can take care of you is yourself."
I believe she would. Since she was from the White Room, she will adapt soon enough.
Ichika: I will senpai. You don't need to worry.
Nanase looked at her worriedly.
Tsubaki: She had already called truce it seems.
Nagumo: Is that so? I feel like she will be upto something else now entirely.
Arisu: Interesting.
"...is that so? Have you also been surviving like that all this time?" she asked. Her voice had a certain tone of pity and regret.
I nodded. If there is one thing that I could trust to rely on in this world, it would be my own abilities. Nothing else.
Kei and some of his friends looked at him solemnly.
Manabu: Indeed. That's how you've managed to come this far on your own. A part of me certainly admires that trait of yours.
Nagumo: Having absolute trust in his abilities. A very powerful mindset. I don't dislike that.
Despite thinking that, however, both of them couldn't help but catch a glimpse of the lonely path that lies beyond that.
"It's funny. To think that higher functioning products like us would have such an obvious defect."
It might be the first time I've heard her speak like this.
"We can't do anything about that. What we can do, is to try to understand and see if it is possible to remove or lessen that defect ourselves. Humans are, after all, evolving creatures."
At my words, Amasawa gave me a sad smile.
"You say that senpai, but...you don't actually believe that, do you?"
"..."
We stayed silent for a while. The music from the cafe giving a peaceful vibe to the atmosphere. On that note, the old waiter have been eyeing us for a while. I wonder what's going on.
Chairman: At the end of the day, it's Just unfortunate.
Ichika: Yeah. That's how it has been for us always. It feels rather nice having share the same sentiment with senpai.
Ryuen: I wonder how skilled she is, that Amasawa chick. At the very least, my guts tells me that she is probably even higher than Sakayanagi. Kuku, how interesting.
"By the way..."
Amasawa started to talk about some mundane things, related to the school and the upcoming exams. It also reminded me of our own term final special exam. She gave me some information, which I doubt would have anything to do with our year, but I listened nonetheless. This seemed to be her way of composing herself. Her cheerful look was coming back.
"Ah senpai, I think it's time for me to give you this," Amasawa said so, as she pulled out a small red box from her coat pocket. It was tied with a white ribbon and a little decoration.
I received the box.
"It's a little present from your cute little kouhai~ Merry Chirstmas Ayanokoji-senpai!"
She said it with a toothy grin, revealing her main purpose of meeting me today. And this is also the first time she said my name today.
With this, the mood lightened up a bit as various gossips were heard.
Kushida: So that's her objective.
Maezono: How sweet!
Nishimura: Well, despite the circumstances, she is still a girl.
Azuma: Yeah, but the problem is, Ayanokoji-kun is already taken.
Sato: I don't see the problem here.
Ichihashi: Me neither.
Azuma: ...
Honami: A Christmas present sounds good.
Hiyori: A present...is it?
I was surprised, and a little delighted. It was the first present I received in this day.
"Thank you Amasawa. Can I open it?"
She held her chin in thought.
"I wouldn't mind, but I was hoping you would see it after you went home."
My cheeky devil instincts immediately started warning me.
"...is it something outrageous again?" I doubtfully asked. I remembered how she had brazenly bought me a condom the last time she was at my dorm.
That innocent little detail immediately sprout chaos.
Amikura: Excuse me?!
Kobashi: A what?!
Honami: H-huh?
Shibata: No freaking way!
Hashimoto: Don't tell me they already-?
Ryuen: Kukuku why am I not surprised?
Suzune: Pervert...
Sato: I-it can't be right?!
Mii-chan: hauuu...!
Asahina: How immoral~
Ichihashi: K-kei chan?!
Kei: Don't...even ask.
Instead of seeing panic on Kei's face, her exasperated reaction started to make them wonder if it was something else entirely.
Things started to calm down when...
Ichika: Fufu~ Ayanokoji-senpai and Karuizawa-senpai were doing it in his dorm when I barged myself in between. It became really fierce after that~
Bam!
Ichika: Ouch!
Nanase: W-what nonsense are you spouting?!
However, it was too late.
"W-wait. What did she say?!"
"Kyaah~!"
"T-this is...!"
"W-won't they be expelled?"
"That's your concern?!"
Kei: W-wh-wh-whaa-!
The scenario was too much to process for her brain as she crashed down on the spot.
Kiyotaka: She needs to be punished.
Honami: Huh..? What...? Is she implying what I think she is..?
Sudo: Y-you guys already went down that route?
Akito: Damn Kiyotaka...
Ichihashi: Kyaa!
Kiyotaka: No-
Kei: N-no, we didn't! Don't listen to her nonsense!
Karuizawa's loud voice managed to stop things before they escalated further. Kiyotaka was thankful for her quick recovery.
Shinohara: Seriously...what's up with that kohai?
Inogashira: Sh-she is too bold!
The teachers shifted nervously because of how awkward this topic is. Sometimes, the students forgot that the adults were also present. Or maybe they just didn't care at all.
Ichika: I was just kidding hehe~ but the offer still stands-
Kei: NO THANK YOU!
Ichika received a few stares of awe because of how openly she is talking about this.
Kouenji: This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for you, Ayanokoji-boy. Admit it. You are also curious about it, aren't you?
Kiyotaka hated how spot on he had to be at the worst possible moment.
Sato: I-is that true?
Kei: And why do YOU sound so happy about it?!
Sato: I mean...well..
Suzune: Perverts.
She muttered under her breath, seeing how ridiculous this topic was getting.
Hashimoto: Well, a single prey can never satisfy the predator, isn't that right Kouenji?
Kouenji: Fufu~ I have to agree, Stalker-boy.
Hashimoto: Wha-?
Ryuen: With his size, it's all the more true.
Some curious heads turned towards Ryuen as he said that, which could imply only one thing.
Kanzaki: Can't we...focus on the video please?
Kamuro: ugh.. finally.
Honami: Y-yes please!
Knowing what I was thinking, Amasawa started giggling.
"Who knows~"
Sigh.
Well, I should just appreciate the gesture.
We started to chat a bit, until the time came to pay the bill.
I hurriedly started to take my card out, but Amasawa stopped me.
"Don't worry about it senpai. Since I called you here, it's only fair if I paid~"
"But-"
"Oh, if you are thinking of paying for the whole meal as a thanks for the gift, don't bother, hee-he."
She figured out what I was thinking.
Amasawa suddenly put her finger in front of me in an emphasizing manner.
"Instead, give me a present too in the next Christmas. Okay~?" with a sickly sweetening smile on her face, she told me that.
What a troublesome girl.
"Fine." I put the phone back in my pocket.
"Thank you senpai!"
She then proceeded to pay for our meal. After that, we decided to chat a bit more.
"I am happy that I was able to have a Chirstmas date with Ayanokoji-senpai."
"..."
"..."
"Me too. It was a good time."
"Hoh~ is senpai-?"
"No."
"Tee-hee."
Kushida: It's somewhat nerving how smoothly this is going, knowing her personality.
Arisu: I can't help, but be a little jealous of Amasawa-san.
Honami: I want to go on a date too!
Kei: I'm starting to now think that she is the reason I somehow got sick.
For a while, it was silently comfortable, as a new song began to play in the background.
Oh, I recognize this one. It was one of Coldplay's popular album 'Hymn for the Weekend'. I've been taking an interest in music lately after all.
And also, I couldn't ignore the old man smirking at our direction. Thinking about it, did he set the song?
"Senpai."
I glanced at Amasawa, who was also looking at me with a determined look.
"What is it?"
"Watch over this cute kouhai from now on, alright?"
Where was this coming from? Has she already found what she wanted to do in her remaining time here and asked for my acknowledgement? Well, it's good if that's the case.
"Okay."
"Oh and don't watch tooo much~ Don't forget you still have a girlfriend," she teased.
Kei: T-that's right!
Kiryuuin: It's perfectly natural to get a bit distracted sometimes.
Ichika: I look sooo cute! Maybe I should try letting down my hair as well, since senpai seemed to like it.
I didn't reply and closed my eyes, focusing on the music.
After my time here is over, Amasawa will be going into her third year. And after that, I wonder how it would turn out?
"I'll feel lonely without you senpai."
Perhaps having the same thought, she honestly spoke out. It isn't a matter of whether I am here or not. It's about what she is going to do after graduating from ANHS. Because, the White Room might not accept her anymore. Going back to her biological parents is another matter.
Although there is no need for her to worry about it the next two years. But after that? She is bound to get anxious inside sometimes. I wonder...
Ichika, who was having fun till now, suddenly got silent.
She was aware how much difficulty she would have to go through once her time here was over. Without the White Room, she was practically homeless now. She wasn't sure where her parents are or who they even are or whether they would even accept her. She didn't like thinking about it at all since it was such a hassle.
"I will wait for you."
"..."
"...h-huh?"
Perplexed, Amasawa looked at me with confusion.
Ichika:..huh?
The words got her full attention.
I stayed silent.
"What...was tha-?"
"After you graduate, I'll come and receive you from the front gate. We'll figure something out afterwards."
Kiyotaka: Is that what it is, huh.
He took a glance at her, to see the girl glued to the screen with a wide expression.
Hearing a response which was very unlike me, Amasawa was left completely baffled.
"Hold on a minute. I-I mean...why-?"
"It's fine, isn't it?"
I reassured her again. The coffee was almost finished. And the song was almost halfway through.
I didn't hear any reply from her after that. It was almost a minute when I looked at her. It astonished me a bit. The kind of expression she was wearing right now was...rare.
Asahina: I am not entirely sure what's going on, but that was really sweet of him.
She decided to break the ice.
Several people also agreed with her.
Kushida: Heeeh...what an interesting expression she is making. Those words really seemed to hit the core.
Arisu: I am...surprised he would say that.
Kei: I know she makes me mad, but knowing that she has the same circumstances as Kiyotaka, I can't exactly hate her.
Although, there is a reason why I said that. Rather than reason, it was mostly a hunch, that we would end up interacting with each other more than we think we would. And depending on her background, she might end up becoming useful to me in the future.
There were several notable groans from the audience.
Ryuen: Way to ruin the mood, dumbass.
Kei: You literally can't think any other way, can you?
Kiyotaka: Sorry. Force of habit.
Kei: Sigh...poor girl.
Arisu: Well, that's just how he is. I shouldn't be surprised. Perhaps, it's idealistic to think he would change just from a little touch of warmth.
Ichika: Hehehe...oh senpai. Don't worry. It made me really happy that you think so. I wonder if he will wait for me here too? Who could tell... I might be the end girl after all.
"I-it's getting late. I should go," Amasawa said so, as she abruptly stood up.
"Alright. Have a good night."
"Mmm..." she nodded and started to turn around.
I looked around and spotted a group preparing themselves to enjoy a party. I still have two appointments left so-
Suddenly, I felt a presence right next to me.
Instead of leaving, Amasawa had suddenly closed the distance between us.
"What is-?"
Chup~❤️
And before I knew it, she had already exited the cafe.
I unconsciously placed a hand on my right cheek. An ambush I didn't expect.
What a troublesome girl.
As the screen blacked out, there several noises of cheers and whistles.
Kushida: That sneaky little-!
Honami:..No fair.
Hashimoto: I know it's King, but it's still quite astonishing how quickly he picks them up.
Ishizaki: He can definitely give some helpful tips, right Albert?
Albert: YES!
"He rizzes them up just like how I do them chil-"
"Even the playful Ichika-chan fell for him!"
"How envious."
Nanase: I don't want to be rude, but your expression is getting kind of-
Ichika: It can't be helped! Now the whole school knows of our little secret~
Nanase just sighed in response.
Kiyotaka: You are not mad?
Kei: Of course I am!
Kiyotaka: oh.
Maezono: How did that little peck feel like, Ayanokoji-kun~?
Kiyotaka: Well, I would want to imagine that it wasn't entirely bad.
Azuma: What a roundabout way to say he liked it.
Ichihashi: Hehe, how cute!
The commotion quickly died down as the screen once again lighted up.
"And then, it became a bit difficult to talk about it, but we somehow managed to compromise. Isn't that great?"
"Yeah."
My next appointment was with Ichinose Honami, the leader of Year 2 Class D. She informed that she was busy this evening, but still wanted to hangout for a short while. So, I conveniently set her time after my meeting with Amasawa.
Amikura: It's Honami-chan this time!
Shibata: Huh? Ichinose-san?!
Kobashi: Quite a playboy you are, Ayanokoji-kun~
Himeno: This is gonma be a pain
Andou: You must be happy, right?
Honami: Eh hehe...
Despite acting flustered, she was delightful about this sudden turn of events.
Ijuuin: He is experiencing the best Christmas a normie could have.
Sotomura: He's gathering the potential candidates.
Chiaki: Interesting thing is, how both of them had invited him instead of the other way around.
Kikuchi: It's kind of given at this point.
Mori: But sneaking in a kiss like that? She's quick!
Chiaki: Kei-chan really has it tough.
Mii-chan: I-it's not like Ichinose-san would do the same, right?
Her nervously spoken question earned a few inquisitive looks.
Ike: That...would be unlikely, but-
Kikuchi: Considering how things have been going-
Nishimura: She doesn't seem like such a person.
Akito: Well, let's just see how it is.
We have been chatting here for a while, as she talked about regarding her current affairs with her class. Hearing from her, I would say that I had succeeded in setting their direction in the right tract.
I could tell at a glance. The bright and confident aura Ichinose was radiating reminded me of our time in the first year. Her leadership was admirable, until she faced some unexpected obstacles which caused to lose her sense of direction. I did lend her a hand, but I also happened to be the cause of her distress later on. I am glad it was solved, and now we could casually meet up like this.
Honami: Mm hm! I'm really glad!
Kanzaki: I still don't understand why he did it, but I am grateful for it.
Hamaguchi: He gets interesting the more I learn about him.
"Hm~ Ayanokoji-kun?"
Ichinose suddenly called me. I saw a rather...confusing and sharp look on her expression.
"Is something wrong?"
"No...it's just that...umm..."
It's as if she was contemplating whether to speak her mind or not.
"I don't mean to needlessly pry but," Ichinose said as she directly stared at me.
"Did you meet with someone before I came here?"
Posing such an intuitive question, she gave me a strange look with her eyes.
"And would that person... happen to be a girl too?"
Amikura: W-woah there-!
Kanzaki: Don't tell me...she has those stalking tendencies as well?
Ryuen: Kukuku women's intuition is a scary thing.
Hiyori: She wouldn't be able to guess so accurately, unless...
Honami: 😊
Sotomura placed a hand on Kiyotaka's shoulder.
Kiyotaka: What?
Sotomura: Watch your back from now, Ayanokoji-dono.
Kiyotaka: Ah...okay?
An otaku like him didn't fail to detect the vibes coming from the 'innocent' known Ichinose. He figured it would be wise to warn the comrade.
I was honestly puzzled. How did she even figure it out? That hunch was too accurate to just brush it off. I glanced at the old waiter. He seemed to be pretty amused, looking at my situation. But, I am sure he didn't say anything.
"Why do you think that?"
With a normal face, I questioned her back, curious as to her reasoning.
"Eh..? I...don't know. Maybe, just a feeling..." she muttered, somewhat unsure of what she was talking about.
Regardless, I shouldn't lie here.
"Yes, I did meet someone."
"Oh."
She may feel upset that I placed her second in priority, but it was necessary for me to deal with the most troublesome one first.
Ichika pouted.
"A girl?"
"What if it was?" I asked her in return, as she grew a bit flustered.
"N-no. I-It's nothing. Please don't mind what I've been saying," she tried to laugh it away, dismissing her thoughts.
"Was Ichinose curious...or maybe a bit jealo-?"
"No!"
She half-yelled, but quickly put her palm to cover her mouth and apologized. I was a bit taken aback from her reaction.
"I was just joking," I eased her by saying so. Ichinose quickly looked away, muttering something that I couldn't hear. Her ears were bright red.
"...you are mean."
"Sorry?"
"D-don't mind it," she said.
Asahina: Ara Honami-chan~ you are getting a little possessive here!
She wasn't the only teasing her as the said girl looked down in embarrassment from her actions.
Kei: "Nothing going on between us" my foot!
Arisu: It's surprising how you are acting despite knowing he has a partner.
She didn't miss the chance to throw a jab at her, despite knowing she was being hypocritical.
Ichika: Hehe jealous much~?
Hashimoto: Like I said-
Kamuro: Shut your trap already!
Nagumo: Interesting. I wasn't aware that she still hasn't given up. I can't help but feel bad for her.
"Here's your drink."
The old waiter arrived at that moment, and placed a tray that held a single coffee, which Ichinose ordered. She thanked him and quickly drank some, to calm her nerves.
On the contrary, I didn't miss the annoying smirk the waiter was sending my way.
Ike: It feels like he is cooking something up.
Hondo: Yeah. He's been at it for a while now.
A few others also noticed the waiter's unusual gestures.
"You know Ichinose..."
I started talking as she drank.
"I prefer to save the best for later."
"Pzzzt-! cough cough"
Almost splitting out the coffee, which was very unladylike her, she quickly grabbed a handkerchief from her pocket and started to wipe her mouth.
There was a collective gasp of awe from the crowd.
Hashimoto: Holy hell!
Komiya: I almost slipped because of how smooth it was!
Kondo: What a menace, that guy.
Himeno: Saying something so embarrassing with a straight face.
Shibata: E-even though he has Karuizawa-san...
Amikura: That really caught me off guard too. You okay?
Honami:...Y-Yes!
Her face was completely red and eyes wandering around aimlessly.
Hosen: Tch...this smooth fucker.
Ichika: Well, I suppose I can deal with being an 'appetizer' for the time being.
Nanase: W-what?
Ichika: You can be the dessert.
Nanase: No thanks!
Sudo: Man...he is a natural.
Kikuchi: For sure.
Maezono: We couldn't tell because of how quiet he always is.
Hirata: I'm aware that he is pretty good with words.
Mii-chan: T-this and t-that are completely different, Hirata-kun!
Kouenji: Certainly, not bad at all.
Kushida:...Idiotkouji-kun.
Sato: How heart thumping!
Kei: Save the best for later huh? Sorry Ichinose-san. But he already had breakfast.
"I-I am sorry...what did you just say?" she frantically looked at me, still embarrassed that she spilt her drink in front of me. I didn't mind since I was the one who instigated it.
I picked the last piece of pudding from my plate with a spoon, which contained the dark chocolate layer.
"You should try it too."
Realizing what I actually meant, Ichinose finally calmed down, with a flustered look evident on her bubbly face.
"O-oh...I see."
"...what did you think I was talking about?" I asked. She repeatedly shook her head, as if dispelling bad thoughts.
"Nothing! Please don't mind me."
Honami pouted.
"H-how mean!"
Arisu: He really got you there fufu.
Ryuen: He is mercilessly pulling her strings.
Onizuka: Phrasingkouji is still haunting here.
Ike: Shut it moron!
Keisei: D-don't even go there!
Hirata: Y-yes, please!
That name still sends shivers down their spine.
After that, we almost were close to ending this hangout. On another note, the song that started playing this time was "On and On". For caution's sake, I glanced at the waiter, to see him again looking at us with an optimistic gaze.
Sorry to burst your bubble old man, but nothing interesting is going to happen this time.
Ryuen: Kukuku so he is playing the matchmaker here.
Hiyori: How sweet!
Nishimura: It doesn't seem like anything else will happ-
Sato: Sshh Ryouko-chan! You can't underestimate Ayanokoji-kun.
Mori: Hoh? Is that so~
"Thank you for your time Ayanokoji-kun," Ichinose said with a pleasant smile.
"Of course."
"A-and, there is something else..." she muttered and reached into her coat which was laid on the counter, before pulling something out.
"Merry Christmas Ayanokoji-kun!"
Just like that, I received my second present this evening.
"Thank you Ichinose. But are you sure?"
"Of course! This is for all the trouble I've caused to you. Although it seems very little, but I'd also like to thank you for it."
Honami: Very good, me!
She nodded approvingly.
Kushida: If that's the reason, he would have received endless presents from me. Not that I am saying I'll give any.
Suzune: Hmm...maybe I should try as well.
Ichinose expressed her sincere feelings to me from the bottom of her heart. I've judged her before to be a good person, and that evaluation still hasn't changed. But she has changed. That's very certain.
"You don't have to be indebted to me Ichinose. There is still much left for you to do here. So there is no need for you to have any regrets. You will have my support."
Yes. In order for my plans to be realized, she needs to move forward and become stronger from here on out.
Ryuen: Plans, huh?
Kanzaki: What is he upto now?
Those who knew his abilities, became quickly alerted at the mention of it.
Kei: Don't tell me you...
She glanced at Kiyotaka, who didn't have a single crack in his composure. They couldn't infer if it was the same case here or not.
Ichinose looked stunned for a moment, but eventually smiled a bit as she looked down.
"Right...that's just how you are."
I tilted my head slightly.
"Ayanokoji-kun! Let's meet again next year, at this place. I want to stand as yo-I mean...as proudly as I can. Could you promise me that?"
Similar to the promise we made during the end of our first year, Ichinose declared something similar to me. Everything seems fine, but something about her eyes is sending me a different kind of message entirely.
She wanted to stand before me as what?
Amikura: How bold, Honami-chan.
Watanabe: Isn't that basically saying I want to be with you?
Shibata: No!
Hamaguchi: I didn't know she could be so assertive.
Honami just looked away blushing from all the embarrassing comments. But it also made her a bit happy.
Sato: T-too forward!
Maezono: She seemed like sidechick at first but turned into a potential love candidate real quick!
Asahina: Every girl is best girl!
Oh well. I must be thinking too much.
"Let's do that then," I extended my hand towards her. Ichinose looked for a moment as she firmly grabbed it. Her hand was soft and smooth, but it had a certain amount of strength behind it.
"Should we head out?" she asked.
"Ah. Please go ahead Ichinose. I will be meeting someone."
Hearing that, her expression became stoned as she stared at me.
"Who is it?"
Her sudden flip of expression and blank tone somehow gave me chills.
Sotomura: T-there it is!
Chiaki: Oh my~
Maezono: Nevermind! It got to the obsession route pretty quickly!
Ichika: Oh-ho~
Himeno: Scary...
"Don't worry. It's a guy."
"Oh..."
"..."
"Huh?!"
Ichinose shrieked. She blushed and waved her arms around, as if she was just caught stealing.
Ryuen: kukuhaha
He didn't bother to hide his amusement from that comparison Ayanokoji just made. Even Ichinose was caught off guard. Her classmates had an awkward look.
Arisu: fufu how cruel.
Akito: It's a good thing he doesn't say these stuff outloud.
Keisei: For god's sake...
Horikita: And he says I am insensitive.
"I-I don't care about that Ayanokoji-kun!" she adamantly denied.
"Ok..."
I remembered something then.
"Ah, sorry for not having a present for you today."
"Oh, don't worry it's fi-" Ichinose stopped mid sentence, as she seemed to be thinking about something.
"You know...maybe you could repay me another way."
Hm?
"Close your eyes Ayanokoji-kun."
"..."
"..."
She wouldn't...right?
Kei: O-Oi Oi Oi!
There were several shocked reaction from the audience.
"Yes. Go for it, girl!"
Some random third years cheered for her.
She was smiling normally and her eyes didn't show any intent, so I couldn't gauge her motive in asking me this.
Maybe I am thinking too much.
She is not like Amasawa, is she?
Nodding, I casually closed my eyes. About 20 seconds passed and nothing happened. I considered opening my eyes again, when I felt something soft and wet on my cheek.
Smooch~❤️
"Bye Kiyotaka-kun~," as I opened my eyes, I saw Ichinose already going out of my sight. I couldn't see her face until she exited.
Did... she really just-?
I heard a slow clapping from behind, as I turned to see the waiter who had a baffled and impressed look on his face.
Unbelievable.
I just fell for it twice this evening.
Honami: N-NOOO!
She didn't want anyone to see this side of hers, not specially when his own girlfriend was watching.
Some of the audience imitated the waiter and started applauding themselves, while the others were absolutely flabbergasted.
Shibata: NO WAYYY!
Hamaguchi: How...surprising.
Watanabe: She-she is crazy...
He couldn't hold himself back from saying it.
Amikura: I guess, she couldn't hold herself back any longer.
Ichika: A worthy opponent has finally arrived~?
Nanase: Please don't be upset, Hosen-ku-
Hosen: Shut up! I don' care about this shit!
Nanase: Yep, he's mad alright.
Arisu:...
Hashimoto: Not even Ichinose-san is left. So, who's next?
Chie: Good going, Honami-chan! First step to "Seduce Ayanokoji-kun and bring him to our class" is complete.
The teachers who heard her statement was totally baffled.
Mashima: The...what?
Sakagami: I see.
Sae: You're ridiculous.
Chie: tee-hee~
Ishizaki: S-she really caught him off guard with that one!
Ryuen: Kuku don't be surprised, Ishizaki. This could be a part of his plan too.
Ibuki: Wh-what does she even see in that guy?!
Ike: N-no way he got kissed by Ichinose-san!
Their class on the other hand, was in a turmoil.
Mii-chan: I-Immoral...indecent...
Shinohara: I-I didn't think she was that type of person.
Chiaki: To kiss a guy when his girlfriend was absent didn't seem like something she would do of all people.
Ichihashi: Y-you guys are ignoring the fact how aggressive that kiss was!
Azuma: She left quite a mark on his cheek.
Akito: So it's not just the class matters he's got his hands full with, huh?
Kei: T-tell me honestly. Did she do that to you too?!
Almost all them looked at Kiyotaka, curious about his response.
Kiyotaka: No...
Kei squinted.
Sato: He sounds a little unhappy.
Kei: I was thinking the same.
Kiyotaka: No, I am not.
Suzune: So, are you happy then?
Kiyotaka: Ye- stop trying to get an answer out of me.
His bored tone caused them to look away, while some were still suspicious. Kiyotaka somehow avoided this situation and was hoping nothing more outrageous would be shown.
This isn't honestly how I imagined it would go like. And unlike Amasawa, Ichinose was a bit more aggressive with hers. I quickly checked my phone camera to see a red mark on the spot. I quickly took a tissue to wipe it off, while feeling a few gazes at my back.
Hiyori: Hm...so it's not completely out of the question here.
On the other hand, Ichika was pouting because her kiss earlier was 'overwritten' by Honami's.
Asahina: It's surprising how she turned a new leaf for him.
"What the hell? And I thought you were more reserved, Ayanokoji."
Looking around the cafe, he bluntly said so.
Ryuen Kakeru, leader of Year 2, Class C.
He was the last visitor for today.
It was a bit unexpected, when him of all people wanted to talk today, but he said he was going to keep it short. I wonder it was about.
Ishizaki: It's Ryuen-san!
Ryuen:.. huh?
He was the last person everyone could possibly think of who Ayanokoji was supposed to meet on a Christmas of all days.
"So it's really a guy?"
"I thought he was only lying to her."
"What a bummer."
Apparently, some people were hoping for some more drama by bringing in a third girl this time.
"Were you enjoying a couple of dates before I came here?" he asked with a smirk.
If only his intuition was so deadly accurate when trying to figure out my plans, but it's a shame.
"Nothing you need to worry about."
Ryuen: The fuck was that?!
Kiyotaka: The truth.
Ryuen: Tch screw you, bastard.
Some of them held back on making a comment.
"Yeah yeah..." he responded and sat one seat away from me.
He slightly raised his hand, as the waiter from before hurriedly came.
"Yes?"
"Give me the best shot you got."
Perhaps not understanding what he meant, he tilted his head.
"Sorry?"
"I meant that give me the best quality beer from your stock. I am sure you guys sell those right?"
Hearing his outrageous demand, the old man couldn't help, but let out an exasperated sigh. It felt as if he wasn't asked this for the first time.
Katsuragi: You can't just ask for it like that.
Kondo: Well, it's a shame they don't sell those stuff.
Kaneda: Rules are rules, I suppose.
Ryuen: With enough points, you can bend the rules as you see fit.
Hiyori: That's true. But in this case, I'm not sure that applies.
Sotomura fixed his glasses. He smirked unknowingly, while suddenly remembering something.
Sotomura: As someone once said: "The big secret to breaking the rules, is to make it seem like you are following them."
"Even if we did, I wouldn't sell it to you, young man."
"C'mon now, don't be such a killjoy."
"I am just following the rules."
"That's exactly what a killjoy is."
I couldn't help, but sigh loudly hearing them bicker. Ryuen looked at me.
"You got a problem?"
"Stop causing trouble for them Ryuen. You know very well you can't get a beer in your age through normal means."
Ryuen, noticing my wording, looked interested.
"Kukuku you are right. Well then, geezer? What would you like in return? Doing a job at this age must be tough. Why don't you rest and I'll send someone I know in your place," he offered.
That's not exactly what I meant, but it was worth a try I guess.
Poor Ishizaki.
Ishizaki: H-huh?
Nishino: You have my condolences.
Kondo: Same dude.
Ishizaki: B-but-!
Ryuen: kukuku
The head waiter stared at him for a while, before he started to chuckle.
Ryuen and I couldn't understand what was funny about it.
"My apologies. I am very well aware of how this school works. And you are also not the first one to offer something in exchange for some wine. It was a good try nonetheless."
Hearing his way of speaking irked Ryuen a bit.
"Damn, you are annoying."
"I've been told."
Sakagami: A smart way to deal with students like him.
Chairman: Indeed.
Chie: A bit younger and I might have gone for him...
Sae: I can hear you.
Now that I take a good look at him, he does have a fair complexion despite his old age. And his body was, by no means less muscular. Something about him gives a vibe of someone who has been through a lot of circumstances.
He noticed my stare and smiled at me.
"I'll get the both of you some coffee instead. Don't worry, it's on the house," saying so, he left us to our devices.
"What a strange man."
"Yeah..."
Hearing me mutter, Ryuen also agreed.
Hashimoto: The waiter is the mvp of this video.
Komiya: He's been a real g so far.
Kikuchi: Covered for him while on his dates and even set the mood with some nice music.
Sotomura: The wingman we don't deserve.
Ryuen: Kuku I wonder if he works here in our timeline.
After that fiasco, it was mostly silent. After getting our coffees, we silently sipped it, while listening to the crowd around us. Since it was past 7, people were starting to gather here more and more. I hope Ryuen would hurry up so that I could go home and call it a day.
"What are they doing...?"
Ryuen suddenly said so, while looking over my shoulder. I also followed his line of sight.
It was just the third years going on with their shenanigans.
What's so strange about it?
Wait.
I instinctively covered my right cheek with my hand, and quickly looked back at Ryuen.
He seemed to be puzzled from my sudden action, and gave me a weird look.
"...what?"
"...nothing."
I slowly put my hand down, pretending to be normal again.
It took a while for everyone to get what just happened, before they started to show reactions.
Hashimoto: 💀
Arisu: You are joking.
Shibata: Hahaha he really thought Ryuen would do that!
Amikura: Oh my god!
Honami: No way...
Ryuen: What the actual fuck?!
Most of his class members like Ishizaki tried to stay composed, while some didn't.
Ibuki: I could swear the tension between you two always looked so fucking weird.
Hiyori: I-Ibuki-san...
Katsuragi: I think I'm missing something here.
Kei: Oh no. Did he get beaten that badly for him to start liking it?
Ike: Man, this shit took a weird turn.
Sudo: Well I mean...he was being cautious?
Akito: Understandable. No one would want to get a smooch from Ryuen of all people.
Mori: Ugh...please drop it.
Ryuen: Fuck off, all of you! That freak probably thought I'd punch him or something. And there is no way such a petty ambush would work on him in the first place.
Two big arrows struck Ichika and Honami consecutively, with the words "Petty Ambush" written on it.
Arisu: fufufu you don't have to deny it so hard, Ryuen-kun.
Hashimoto: Hahaha oh man. Did seeing his thing last year awaken something within you-?
Ryuen: I'm going to kill you if you don't shut up!
Kiyotaka: It's not even his fault in the first place. But I guess they are just using the opportunity to pick on him.
"Well, I guess I should ask you already."
Ryuen said so, as he put his cup down.
I raised my brow, wondering what it was about.
"You have been garnering attention a lot lately."
"..."
"..."
"...and?"
"To be specific, you've been seen with lots of different people during this vacation. Whether it be from different class or different year."
Seeing me silent, Ryuen continued.
"I am sure you are not unaware of those curious eyes directed at you, right? Which leads me to believe that you have been conspicuous lately on purpose. Otherwise, you would've just shut yourself in your room to avoid any trouble. Though I am not sure why."
Did he really call me out just for this? Should I applaud by clapping my hands for his astute observation?
I considered it for a moment, but quickly rejected it. He would probably lash out if I did that.
Some of them laughed about how he casually mocked him in his mind. Ryuen just glared at the screen silently.
"Kuku, don't look so dejected monster. It's not just because of that."
He looked at the almost empty cup in his hand.
"My battle with Sakayanagi takes priority of course, but it doesn't mean I would lose sight of my ultimate goal."
He crushed the cup and looked at me with a confident smirk.
"So prepare yourself, Ayanokoji. You might have a lot more on your plate than you think."
After saying so, he got up and threw the cup in a trash can, before leaving the place completely.
Arisu: Interesting.
Chiaki: Most of us still can't get used to how little Ayanokoji-kun thinks of the guy who gave us a lot of trouble in the first year. But after seeing his abilities, there should be no doubt left in their minds.
Seriously?
A minute or so later, I followed his suit and finally left the cafe as well.
I thought Chirstmas would be dull for me this year. But it turned out to be surprisingly eventful.
What an interesting evening. I am already looking forward to delve into this uncertain future ahead.
Video Ends
A small break was given to the students for refreshing themselves.
Kiyotaka: After all the chaos earlier, this was a relatively calm and peaceful video, except now I have to deal with the accusations of being a playboy. It makes me kind of anxious about what they are about to show next.
?: Now for the next one:
