After a month since the failed interview and the incident in the lab. Angie was in her apartment pacing in her living room on the phone reaching Abby. She instead got a call from Carlton for the fifth time this week. "I told you to stop bothering me, Carlton. I really dont want to deal with you right now. Now back off or im calling the c-" Angie stopped as a sound of crying was heard in the hallway. She hanged up not wanting to hear Carlton anymore and opened her door. She looked around then saw a car seat with a newborn baby in front of her door. "What the hell?" Said Angie picking up the carrier looking for anyone then noticed a note taped to the door above the peephole. She took the car seat and went inside taking out the baby gently rocking her to calm her down. "Its okay. Im here." Said Angie opening the letter. 'I know i should've told you when i found out that i was two weeks pregnant. But i didnt want to hear anything what anyone had to say about me and Dwyane. Im giving her to you and im on a plane to go live somewhere you and everyone wont bother finding me. I'll still keep in touch if anything happens. Hope you forgive me for this. - Abby.' It read. Angie sat down slowly on her bed once the baby was asleep then dialed a number. "Hello?" Said Dan on the line. "You have to come over to my apartment now." Said Angie quietly. "Is everything okay?" Said Dan.
"Just please come over." Said Angie gently placing the baby on the bed putting a pillow sideways so she wont roll off. She then texted Rodney about what was going on and checked the carrier for anything left behind. A knock was heard as Angie quickly opened the door seeing Dan and Anne in the hall. "Come in and keep it down. I just put her to sleep." Said Angie letting them in. "What's going on?" Said Anne. "Abby left her baby at my doorstep and doesnt want to be found." Said Angie handing her the letter. "So what now? You're keeping her." Said Dan. "Seems like it. I should have seen the signs that we're in my face. Rodney and Rafael already knew before i did." Said Angie as Dan checked on her. "Is this all she left? Just a car seat and a blanket." Said Dan looking at her. "Let me go check in her room." Said Angie going into the bedroom. Angie turned on the light seeing the furniture was still there but most of Abbey's clothes were gone along with her phone and laptop. She went through each drawer finding nothing before going to the closet to find unopened packages. Opening the first two boxes was a set of baby clothes and diapers for newborns. While the rest was a portable stroller with a matching 3 in 1 diaper bag. "Looks like Abby prepared everything. She got everything except for formulas mustve bought them while i was working or going out." Said Angie looking deeper into the closet for anything else.
"We can sort everything out. Does she have a name?" Said Anne looking through the bag. "Let me look at the note again if Abby wrote a name down." Said Angie going toward the bed. She picked up the note looking at the back. "Jadelynn Pamela Marianne Walter. Born on August 18, 2021. So my sister left her one week old daughter in my hands while my ex is stalking me. Just fucking great." Said Angie looking over at Jadelynn whining softly in her sleep."We're not going to leave you or the baby alone. We got each others number and im sure Eddie would be happy to help." Said Anne putting comforting hand on her shoulder. "You're only saying that because of the red string of fate thing. Im sure Rafael told you about this." Said Angie raising her left pinky. "He never did but i have seen that on Eddie when we started dating and yours when we went to grab coffee." Said Anne. "I guess I have to explain to my bosses about whats going on." Said Angie. "I can get more formulas for Jadelynn and check up on her medical records while im at work." Said Dan. "Speaking of im running late for my interview. I'll stop by and check on you and Jade." Said Anne. "Thanks for coming." Said Angie following them to the door. She closed and locked the door heading to the bedroom to set up the necessary items for Jadelynn. Angie looked at the empty bed seeing she has to move the two mattresses and the bed frame out to make more space for the nursery. She walked back to the living room to check on Jadelynn who was still sound asleep on the bed. Angie grabbed the blanket from the car seat to drape it over Jadelynn's stomach to keep her warm.
Going over to her neighbor next door to get some help on a few tasks knowing everyone was busy with work or something else. A gentle knock on the door opened a young woman who knew Abby and Angie smiled to see her. "Angie, how can i help you?" Said the woman. "Can you and your husband Marty help with me with the nursery? Its a long story?" Said Angie. "Oh. She already left huh?" Said The woman. "She told you?" Said Angie. "I was the one who drove her to the hospital when she was going into labor. Let me help you while Marty is done in the shower. Come on." Said the woman grabbing her purse. "Thanks Yolanda. This is all unexpected." Said Angie walking back into her apartment. "Why else Abby chose you to be the godmother? Where do we start?" Said Yolanda walking to the bedroom. "I wanted to do the bed first but i need to see if i have everything that i need for Jadelynn." Said Angie. "Dont worry. Im a mother of three. I'll have a list ready since Abby did a last minute shopping online." Said Yolanda. "Let get the queen mattresses out on the street. I need this one out first and the two dressers Can stay for me and Jadelynn. The rest me and my friends can figure out." Said Angie taking off the sheets but heard Jadelynn crying. "Go i got it from here." Said Yolanda taking the sheets from Angie. She went over to her and saw she needed a diaper change grabbing the changing pad, wipes, baby powder, and diaper.
