Skye and her friends were playing a bunch of games. They were having a sleepover at Jake's with him and Everest. They were a ton of fun! At least Skye was having a lot of fun.
They were playing tag and Tracker was it. This was their first time having a sleepover at Jake's specifically with everyone including Rex. Rex was just relaxing for the most part. Rex had some cool friends watching over the dinosaurs so he could hang out with Skye and the rest of the Paw Patrol.
They had no missions or rescues to go on, so they were using the time as an advantage to sleep over at Everest's.
Ryder had told them it was a special treat to them for the missions and rescues they've been going on lately. The rescues and missions had become far more extreme and dangerous.
Skye was a bit concerned with it since there had been a few times one of the members of the Patrol had gotten hurt. Whether it was severe or not didn't matter. They were still hurt in the end.
Tracker was chasing Rubble and Marshall. The two were trying to run away.
Marshall made a misstep and tripped, taking Rubble with him.
"Woah!" The two exclaimed, ending up in a pile together.
"Whoops, sorry Rubble" Marshall apologized.
Rubble just laughed.
"It's fine, Marshall. Well, looks like one of us will be it." Rubble barked.
Right on cue, Tracker came over giggling. He tapped Rubble lightly on his shoulder.
"You're it!" He barked cheerfully, his tail going at the speed of light.
The English bulldog chuckled as he got up, pushing the clumsy Dalmatian off of him.
"That doesn't count does it?" Marshall asked.
Rubble gave him a silly look. "No. I'm a fair pup, not a cheater. You have three seconds to get away from me before I start chasing after you. One, two..." Rubble began as Marshall started skidding away on his four paws, tripping a little over Rex who's wheelchair was in the way.
"Sorry Rex!" Marshall exclaimed. "You're good, Marshall! Didn't feel a thing. Literally." Rex said, pointing at his wheelchair.
No one laughed. Something like that wasn't funny.
"Ah! I'm sorry anyways! Anyways, gotta run from Rubble now. He's chasing us!"
Rex laughed as Marshall hared away with his tongue sticking out widely. Marshall was looking back at Rubble who was starting to chase him.
Rubble ran towards Skye, who giggled as she ran away from him. This sleepover was going great so far, and she was having so much fun with all of her best friends.
"I'm gonna getcha! I'm gonna getcha!" Rubble exclaimed as he bounded towards her, his strong legs working to try to shorten up the distance between the two pups.
"You're gonna have to run faster than that, Rubble!" She barked as she zigzagged around Chase. The silly German Shepard pup had an amazed look on his face as he watched her dodge him, and dodge everyone who she saw.
Skye couldn't deny her agility was superb.
"Woah!" Chase breathed, ignoring Rubble who touched him with a paw.
"You're it Chase!" Rubble barked gruffly.
Chase wasn't listening.
His eyes were glowing with an emotion Skye couldn't figure out, and his ears were folded back.
Skye could guess it wasn't from being tagged or from being sad, but she wasn't sure what had gotten into him.
His face didn't have his usual smile, it had some weird happy-frown mix. Skye wasn't sure what that was about.
All she knew was Chase was staring at her with intent. She's never really seen him stare at her this intently before. She's seen him worry and look at her with such expressions, but never like this. In fact, he seemed frozen on her. Totally oblivious to the paw that continuously tapping his shoulder.
Rubble looked really confused. A look of concern was on his face as he stuck out the very same paw--right-- in front of Chase's face. He waved it in front of the oblivious German shepard's face.
"Chase? Are you alive? Hello? Liver treats!!" Rubble shouts, confused. His head was tipped to the side. He was clearly confused as to why he was acting in such a manor.
"Are you playing the game?" Rubble asked him, continuing to wave his tan-and-white paw in front of Chase.
Chase seemed to get out of his frozen state, shaking his head vigorously.
"Uh, yes. I am still playing the game. Heh. Sorry. Was just a little out of it, but I still want to play." Chase giggled, staring at the ground.
He then barked, "You guys better run because I'm coming after you! Awoo!!" He immediately started running after Rex.
"Why me?!" Rex joked before he and Chase laughed together as they ran.
Skye giggled as she watched she was running past Rocky who was howling with excitement as he ran away from Chase who stopped running after Rex after he sped up faster than Chase could, using his wheelchair to go faster.
Chase chased after a Rocky with a happy howl, the two giggling as they ran around the place.
"Bet you can't catch me, Chase!" Rocky barked, zigzagging a different way, away from Skye. She had been pretty close to him after all. If he ran towards her Chase would probably catch her.
"Oh, I bet I can! I'm faster than you, Rocky! I'd run circles around yo-" Chase started to brag before tripping over Marshall.
"Woah!" Both pups exclaimed as they collided together.
"Whoops, sorry Chase. Guess I'm it then." Marshall woofed.
Chase chuckled, giving Marshall a friendly noogie on his head.
The spotted pup just rubbed his head after Chase stopped his noogie festival.
"Nah, Marshall. Tripping over you doesn't count as a proper tag. Plus I'm after Rocky. He thinks he's faster than me!" Chase woofed, friendliness pouring from his voice.
Chase, Rocky, and Marshall all laughed.
It was just a friendly joke. Chase didn't honestly care who was faster. It was just a fun game.
Skye snorted at their antics. She had the funniest friends.
Ryder, Jake, and Carlos started laughing along too.
"What a bunch of silly pups." Ryder chuckled as he petted Zuma. Zuma's tongue stuck out as a result of the petting.
Ryder checked his time.
"Well, pups, it's getting late. We should probably get some good rest now. For a whole day of quests, missions, and more possible fun." Ryder told them.
"Dang it. I'm still it." Chase huffed.
Skye approached him and put a paw on his shoulder. She knew he was probably joking, but she still couldn't help but worry a little about him. He was a more sensitive pup than he pretended to be. He tries to be a strong dog, but even the strongest of dogs needed to be a little sensitive sometimes.
Skye just wished Chase could show his sensitive side a bit more. It would certainly help him whenever he needed help of any kind.
"Don't worry, Chase." She yipped with a smile on her face. "We will get back to tag soon enough. You won't have to be 'it' anymore if you can tag someone else. Plus, it's not a big deal if you're still 'it' at the end of the game. Who knows maybe next game Tracker will be it or Everest." She chirped, pulling her paw back. She put it back down on the ground.
Chase seemed to brighten up after that, though his face showed real surprise when Skye put her paw on his shoulder.
He also seemed tense. Really tense.
"Yeah!" He barked, straightening up tall. "You're right, Skye! Someone else could be 'it' next time!"
The German Shepard then opened his maw, and his tongue stuck out. He then yawned.
"Well, I'm bushed. Let's get some sleep, Skye." He woofed with exhaustion now showing in his eyes.
He really needs to stop hiding his exhaustion and everything else. It worries me greatly. Skye pondered as she followed closely behind him.
The two made their way to their sleeping bags. Everyone else was already in theirs except Rocky who was making sure his bed was set up properly and as flat as a sleeping bag could be.
Rocky looked up as the two walked in. Their footsteps were obviously what alerted him of their presence as Rocky's one pointed ear that was pointed at the roof twitched.
"Hey you guys! The rest of the pups went to sleep already. Rubble practically fell on his bed and went to sleep. In fact, I think he was asleep before hitting the sleeping bag." Rocky greeted.
The three dogs laughed quietly.
"Anyways, good night you two! I'm just about to go to bed as well. If you want I can help you set up your sleeping bags." Rocky offered, pointing to the rolled up sleeping bags that were pink and dark blue.
"Nah. It's fine, Rocky. We can set up our sleeping bags by ourselves." Chase told him as he set up his sleeping bag no problem.
"Sure! You can help me, Rocky!" Skye chirped quietly, grabbing her sleeping bag and putting it between Rocky and a snoring Everest. She was on a light blue sleeping bag.
Rocky walked over to Skye's side with a really happy, possibly dreamy expression on his face as he approached her. He grabbed one end of the sleeping bag and started to pull.
Chase watched with a smile. There was something wrong with that smile, though. It felt forced.
Huh? Skye thought with confusion as the two continued to set up her light pink sleeping bag.
