Benji was panicking.
Ever since he wasn't picked to join the trebles, he started watching them from afar because they inspired him so much.
But what they just did wasn't inspiring at all. In fact it was sick. He no longer wanted anything to do with them.
He sprinted towards the pool sure that the trebles were gone from the area. Glancing down at the deep end of the empty pool, Beck was lying down in it unconscious with blood spilling from the back of his head.
"Oh my god, Beck…" Scared out of his mind he ran his hands through his hair heading towards the ladder of the pool. By the time Benji climbed down the ladder Beck was no longer still. Unfortunately it was far from good. The DJ was convulsing.
"Beck!" Benji cried out rushing to him, turning him onto his side. His hands kept him in place but didn't hold him down. Besides the blood on the back of his head Benji noticed blood coming out of the DJ's mouth. He pulled out his phone and called 911.
"911, what's your emergency?" A female speaker answered.
"M-My friend hit his head when he fell and is h-having a seizure!" He stuttered.
"Okay. What's your name and where are you located?" She asked gently.
"Uh… B-Benji." He choked out. We're in the empty pool at Barden University."
"Okay Benji I'm Samantha. Help is on the way now and should be there very soon." The woman said calmly.
"Oh god! H-He won't stop shaking! What should I do?" Benji asked, starting to freak out.
"Try to stay calm Benji. Do you got him on his side? Don't hold him down and do you got something that could cushion his head? A sweater or something?" She told him.
"He's already on his side and y-yeah I can use my vest." Benji takes off his red vest putting it under Beck's head gently, not caring that it was getting blood on it. "Done… but he's bleeding out of his mouth…?" He was scared and was starting to breathe rapidly again.
"Benji it's fine, sounds like he bit his tongue. Happens sometimes when people have seizures. It looks scarier than it is." The woman paused. Ambulance is five minutes away. You're doing good. How long has he been seizing?"
"O-ok. Um…" He said thinking looking down at the brunette. Beck stopped convulsing for the most part with a twitch or two left over occasionally groaning. " O-Oh he just stopped. I think a little over a minute? He wasn't 100% sure how long but he knew Beck had started seizing before his call to 911. "E-Everything will be okay Beck, help will be here soon." He said trying to be comforting.
A song started playing from Beck's pocket, startling Benji. "Hmm?"
"Benji what is it? Are you still with me?" The operator questioned.
"Yeah it's Beck's phone going off." Sure enough the song titanium was playing. He reached into Becks pocket silently apologizing and grabbed the small device. On the screen name displayed Chloe who was Beck's best friend and maybe something more from what he saw. "I'm going to answer it."
"Go ahead, just stay on the line till the ambulance gets there and let me know if anything else happens with Beck." The operator replied.
He was thankful that the redhead was calling because he wouldn't be able to get past Becks passcode and finding the Bella on campus would take time.
When things get better again he swore he'd make friends with the Dj and get to know him better. Maybe he can room with Beck after? He certainly didn't want to room with Jesse anymore thinking of earlier. Jesse may not be the one holding Beck down physically but it sounded like Jesse was the one who ratted Beck out to the rest of the trebles.
'I told you in confidence Jesse!' He heard him shout out. Jesse's own reply was to say he was sorry but being transgender wasn't a thing and women can't be with the Trebles. That maybe Beck should consider getting help.
He swiped to answer the phone swallowing hard. He was about to tell Chloe her most important person was injured and his heart broke at the thought. "Hey Beck, practice just finished, want to hang out?" She said chipper.
"Oh god Chloe!" He finally managed to get out. I-It's Benji."
"What? Benji? Why do you have Beck's phone and where's Beck?" Chloe said, confused.
"I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Becks hurt… bad." Tears fell out of his eyes. He lifted up his other hand to wipe them away.
"What do you mean he's hurt!? Where is he?" Chloe asked rapidly. Aubrey and Stacie could be heard in the background asking if she's okay.
"B-Beck fell into the deep end of the pool-" he started.
"What! You mean the pool that's currently empty right now?" She cried out. "I'm on my way. How bad is he?"
"He hit his head and by the time I got to him he was seizing." He took a deep breath when he heard her gasp and start to sob. " The ambulance will be here soon." He heard shuffling around after a bit.
"This is Aubrey. Chloe is currently unable to talk properly right now. Stacie's currently comforting her right now." While she seemed collected he noticed she sounded a bit strained. "The three of us will be there in a few minutes. Heard the gist of what happened, but can you tell me more of what happened?"
"I was watching the Trebles practice like usual since I didn't get on the team and I'm such a huge fan of them… er I was anyway. But this practice was different." He said sadly.
"What was different?" The Blonde urged him on. Chloe's cries were still heard in the background with Stacie trying to give comfort to the poor girl.
"Instead of practicing like normal they ended up cornering him by the pool. They found out something about Beck. Something they didn't like. Sounded like Jesse told them about it, I can't believe him!" He started to get angry. Jesse was his friend! He was Beck's friend and he betrayed him!
"Are you telling me they pushed him in an empty pool?! I knew the Trebles were… but to actually hurt someone like that! I'm going to send them to Aca- Hell!" Aubrey cursed out. Chole seemed to have let out a strangled sob upon hearing that. God he can barely take anymore, he was going to break down soon.
"No. They were just harassing him, maybe a few punches here and there but Beck was desperately trying to get out of their hold and while freeing himself, he ended up falling in."
"God they might as well have done it themselves!" She fumed.
Chloe, Stacie and Aubrey arrived just seconds after the ambulance did. The paramedics quickly went to work. The three Bellas looked crestfallen at seeing the DJ unconscious at the bottom in the pool.
Once was Chloe's favorite place because she got to hear Beck's wonderful version of no diggity. Now it feels tainted with images of her… as the guy she fell in love with, bloodied and bruised. She sobbed loudly into her best friend's chest while Stacie rubbed circles into her back. Benji, who didn't want to be in the way of the paramedics, came up heading towards the girls.
"I'm sorry I couldn't do more…" He hung his head low.
"Hey. You're just one guy okay? Unless you're secretly a ninja you did good getting Beck the help he needed." Stacie told him.
"I… yeah. I just wish I could've done more."
Chloe ended up riding with Beck to the hospital. Aubrey drove behind them with Stacie in the passenger seat and Benji in the back.
"Is there someone we can call for an emergency contact?" One of the nurse's asked Chloe in the waiting room while Beck was hauled off to get worked on.
"I'm his emergency contact actually. His mother's dead, he's the only child and he gets along with his father like a house on fire." She informed her.
"Alright can you fill these forms out? A doctor will be out shortly to update you on the status of Beck okay?" The nurse said and Chloe nodded mutely. She started filling out the forms while deep in thought.
When Beck first came to Barden University, his father forced him to room with a girl named Kimmy Jin. His father seemed to disapprove of everything Beck did whether it's his career choice or gender identity. She wasn't close to him back then but Beck ended up lucking out as Kimmie moved out to one of her friends dorm rooms as she was weirded out rooming with a guy. While Kimmie Jin was certainly cold to him, she never misgendered him or called him a freak.
So after she left Beck had the dorm room to himself. After she heard him sing in the mens shower while she was with Tom, she urged him to try out for the Trebles (something she regrets so much right now.)
After that she began seeking him out whenever possible. Beck fought at first but she was great at breaking his walls down.
Eventually Beck asked why she hadn't asked about him yet, about what she saw in the shower. 'About what?' She asked back.
'You know, the scars on my chest?' He said nervously.
'I mean they're surgical scars. Not to say I wasn't curious about them but I didn't want to press you.'
'Why Beale didn't think you had boundaries!' Beck teased.
'Oh shut up! I have some boundaries. But jokes aside you don't have to tell me if you don't want to.'
'I… no it's okay. I got top surgery right out of high school. Even though my mom's dead she had some funds saved up for me. Not a lot, but enough to get top surgery otherwise I'd also be in LA right now trying to become a DJ.' He explained.'So basically I'm transgender, female to male. That's also why I had on swimming trunks in the shower, and haven't had bottom surgery yet.' Beck explained eyes darting around the room.
'Hey it's okay. I may not know a lot about transgender's or even know what's it like, but I do know I don't care what's underneath your clothes, you're still Becks to me!' She reassured him.
'Thank you. Not everyone is as understanding as you are.' His father comes to mind.
'Hey I do have a question though.'
'What?'
'You said you haven't had bottom surgery yet but when I barged in on your shower, you had quite the bulge in your trunks?'
Beck's face went so red, he could audition to play Elmo for Sesame Street. 'I was wearing my packer…' He trailed off embarrassed.
'A what now?' So that's how Chloe's education on the transgender community started. So Chloe asked question after question, but also indicated that if the question was too weird or uncomfortable for him, he could pass on it. He was quite thankful and happy to help teach the redhead about it.
Even when Beck successfully got onto the Trebles, they still hung out. Even more than before. Aubrey noticed and while she disliked it, she knew Chloe wasn't sleeping with Beck yet (even with her obvious toner for the DJ) left it be.
They eventually started dating in secret even though Beck was insecure about his body. Chloe reminded him every chance she got that he had nothing to worry about. She was pansexual, nothing was going to change her mind about it, Beck was the guy for her.
There was a loophole in Aubrey's pledge. As long as they weren't sleeping together Chloe wasn't breaking the rule. And while she'd eventually want to have sex with him, she was perfectly content with the way things were. Beck was actually relieved about that, not that he wasn't interested in sex with her, he wasn't ready for that yet. He had sex before, but that was before he came out as a trans man.
She had run into his father a few times while on campus and he certainly was a piece of work. His father was berating him about his life choices again and she defended him. Henry Mitchell then proceeded to yell at her for supporting his child's delusions. She has never been more flabbergasted before and this was coming from a parent that's supposed to love you unconditionally. After that Beck had asked her if she was okay with her being his emergency contact as his father was obviously senile. 'Totes.' She accepted easily. She never thought a situation like this would come so soon or even at all.
Just then Benji, Aubrey and Stacie came into the waiting room. "Chloe!" Aubrey called out. "Any news on Beck?" She shook her head no. The taller blonde came over and hugged her. Stacie sat next to Aubrey and Benji on the other side of Chloe.
"Aubrey… I have something to confess." Chloe nervously said, eyes puffy and red from tears.
"Chlo? What is it?" Aubrey pulled back looking at her questionably. " You can tell me whatever it is, no judgment here." She added a few seconds after seeing her hesitate.
"Beck and I are dating." Chloe said very fast and Aubrey's face scrunched up like she swallowed a lemon." But we never broke your rule once and-"
"Chloe, it's okay! I'm happy for you really! I'm sorry though, I feel like a shitty best friend that you had to hide in secret." Aubrey looked away in shame.
"Hey don't beat yourself up Bree." Chloe put her hand on the blonde's arm to comfort her.
"Besides, he's not a Treble anymore after what happened today." Stacie pitched in.
"Yeah, he's good. But it still stands with the rest of them, so don't you get any ideas thinking it's suddenly okay getting Treble boned." Aubrey said, pointing at Stacie standing her ground on the oath.
"Hey, even I won't sleep with trash." Stacie put her hands up in the air in defense. "Besides there's someone else I got my eye on. Much more worthy, might have the potential to tame the hunter." Stacie said looking back at Aubrey causing said girl to blush.
Before the blonde could reply a doctor came out calling Beck's name. The group stood up and walked to the doctor. "How is he?" Chloe asked worriedly.
"I'm Doctor Stone and as for Beck he has minor bruising all over. Most consistent with the fall he took but some look like handprints-"
"Which probably is. He was harassed before falling in the pool." Benji informed him. At the mention of handprints, they all got more pissed of at the Trebles.
"How terrible, has anyone informed the police about this?" The doctor blinked in surprise not informed of this detail.
"No, not yet."
"Okay, we'll take care of that, it shouldn't take them very long for them to get here and question you guys about what happened."
"Will do, won't let them get away with this." He said determinedly.
"Anyways, Beck has a moderate concussion. He hasn't woken up yet but he can probably expect confusion, possible memory loss, nausea and other stuff that's non life threatening."
" Oh, my poor baby." Chloe ushered. "What can we do to help him and when can he come home?" There was no way she was letting her boyfriend go back to his dorm room where he'd be alone. He was coming to her and Aubrey's apartment. She was sure the blonde wouldn't have a problem with it at all given earlier she was happy for them.
"After he wakes up, I'd say no later than an hour later. Even though he'd be released from the hospital, someone should watch him. Make sure he doesn't have any more seizures and wake him up every three hours for the next twenty four hours."
Aubrey seemed to read Chloe spoke up." No problem, we'll take him home with us." The red head gave her a small smile. "What can he take for his concussion? Do we need to go to the pharmacy to pick something up?"
"Tyonel will work just fine." Doctor Stone replied. "And no strenuous activity, make sure he rests up for a few weeks." They nodded in response.
By the time the police arrived Beck had woken up and started asking for Chloe. Benji went to speak to the police about what happened and Aubrey and Stacie stayed behind not wanting to overcrowd Beck after just waking up.
Chloe was being led to her boyfriend's room by one of the nurses. Beck was sitting up with bandages wrapped around his head. Although awake, he looked quite fatigued. "Beck baby…" She had to will herself not to shout with his concussion. Beck lit up as soon as he noticed her. "You had me so worried, I love you so much." Chloe grabbed his hand kissing it.
He seemed to take a while to gather his thoughts and speak. "Chlo… I'm sorry, I didn't…mean to worry you." He squinted as the lights were bothering him.
"Don't be sorry, it wasn't your fault. But I'm here now baby." She rubbed the back of his hand kissing it again. Beck blushed at the attention but liked it.
"I don't… they said I fell but what happened?" His brows furrowed trying to remember. His free hand rubbed his temple in pain.
"Beck, don't strain yourself, okay baby. But what's the last thing you remember? If it's not too much?" Chloe asked.
"Um… our pizza night?" Beck answered.
"That was three days ago Beck." They had a date at Beck's dorm room. They ordered pizza and watched a movie. Beck picked out a scary movie called insidious, reason be if he had to suffer through a movie, might as well be a movie that makes your girlfriend cling to him throughout it. She remembered teasing him saying 'Awe Beck's if you want to cuddle all you had to do was ask.' Beck scowled at that but didn't deny that. That night was probably the closest they almost got to breaking Aubrey's Treble rule.
"Oh."
"Yeah." She gave him a sad look. " Beck, I'm sorry but the Trebles found out about you being transgender… Benji said they cornered you by the pool and you fell in. He saw the entire thing." She hated the crestfallen face her boyfriend gave.
"I…" He swallowed hard. "Even J-Jesse?" His voice broke. Jesse to him was like Aubrey was to Beck. Even if he wasn't concussed, he'd still have trouble comprehending it.
"Yes, I'm sorry baby." Tears started to escape the corners of his eyes. Chloe got up and embraced him. Beck clung onto her tightly. It was heartbreaking, she couldn't imagine being betrayed like that from Aubrey.
"I thought… he was my best friend…" He may not remember the last few days but he does remember debating telling Jesse about him being transgender soon. That's probably how they found out in the first place. A flash of something with Jesse came to his mind making him flinch.
"Beck, try not to overdo it okay?" She said after seeing him flinch. "You're coming home with me and Aubrey. You're not going to your dorm where you'll be alone." She stated.
"B-ut Aubrey… she… doesn't." Beck tries to scramble a sentence together but fails."
"She knows we're dating. She doesn't know you're transgender, just knows the Trebles found something out about you they didn't like. But you know baby, Aubrey would be really accepting about you, I mean she's part of the LGBT community herself being a lesbian." Chloe knows Aubrey wouldn't mind her telling her this. She didn't really hide anymore after coming out to her father. She was scared shitless but Chloe supported her. Her father, while stern and strict, actually accepted her.
"R-Really?" Beck said surprised. "I- trust your judgment Chlo... If you say she's trustworthy… then you can tell her. And how did she take us… you know?" Referring to them dating.
"She's trustworthy I promise. And she took it very well. She's actually here right now, along with Stacie and Benji."
"What?!"
"Yeah they were all worried about you but didn't want to crowd you."
"That's nice." He was feeling a bit overwhelmed and fatigued.
Beck was released from the hospital. He told Benji thanks for saving him and talked briefly to the Bella's. He fell asleep nearly right away on Chloe's shoulder in the car. They dropped off Benji and Stacie at the dorms. Since Beck was asleep on Chloe's shoulder Aubrey with Beck's dorm key gathered some of his clothes before heading Back to their apartment.
Chloe reluctantly woke him up. "Beck baby, we're here at the apartment." She helped walk him to her apartment as he was basically a zombie half asleep. She found an oversized T-shirt and sleep shorts for him to sleep in. While he dressed himself slowly, she set alarms for every three hours because of Beck's concussion.
"Chlo?" He asked tiredly.
"Yes?"
"I know I usually spoon you but tonight can..?" He trailed off a bit embarrassed to ask.
"Of course baby." Chloe happily obliged, kissing his forehead. They settled Chloe's bed, Chloe settled behind her boyfriend and cuddled into his back spooning him. Beck sighed in contentment.
"Love… you Chlo. Night." Beck said fighting sleep.
"I love you too Beck. Goodnight baby."
AN: I feel like this is going to be a two parter? Next chapter will be the conclusion of what will happen to the trebles, Beck's recovery and another fight between Beck and his father. And some more bechloe of course. Haven't written the next part yet but hopefully will complete it sometime in april.
