Looking up from his desk the commander's stern gaze fell upon the group, 2 of his best operators, 2 heroes, and someone completely new.
"Shadow, Rouge, I need your report now" The Commander demanded, his voice as stern as his face.
"Rifts opened throughout Central city releasing creatures made of black ice that attacked people, this one right here closed the rifts for us as we fought" Shadow reported back in a concise and quick manner whilst gesturing to the wolf who straightened his back further as he the commander laid eyes on him.
"And you are?" the Commander asked this time.
"Im Hydra Ozero nice to meet you sir" Hydra answered stepping forward with his hand out to shake with the commander.
"Did you say Ozero?" the commander asked, his eyes furrowing as his glare became piercing, ignoring Hydra's hand who dropped his hand back to his side pretending he had not tried for a handshake. "Thats a name i've heard before" the commander began as a hologram keyboard appeared before him and he began to type on the desk. "One that GUN has failed to determine its purpose time and time again. Everyone in the room except Shadow and the commander began to look around at each other and finally staring at hydra who grew more anxious through each of the commander's pauses.
"Shadow, how did you end up with this, Ozero?" the commander asked, saying hydras last name with venom as if he believed he was being lied to by the wolf who shuffled backwards as the commander's gaze returned to him.
"The mission you sent rouge on" Shadow began as rouge jumped in to explain how she asked him and tails for help, returning the mic to shadow he explained the battle with Eggman's mech which ended with Hydra falling from the sky. "I had originally planned to ask you for assistance in returning him home before the attack happened" Shadow finished
"And you're telling me he helped you save the day" he asked, facing Shadow who simply nodded "I see". The commander took a moment to absorb the information with his chin on top of his interwoven hands, after a minute that felt like hours he began to type on his see through keyboard again and finally talking. "I have a new mission for you two" the commander began "I've sent you all the information we have on that name, I want you to use the information and continue where we left off. Determine what's causing these rifts and his connection to them". looking back to the room the commander was remind that there was more than just his operators present "I imagine you will accompany them" he said looking at the blue and yellow duo "including you as well" turning to the wolf
"were not quitting until we figure this out and get hydra home" sonic started cheerfully
"That's right" Tails added excitedly relieving hydra of some of his stress
"Well i cant stop you but since you will be helping us GUN will provide you with all the support it can" the commander said surprisingly more complacent and willing then Rogue or Shadow expected.
"Lets go" Shadow said, turning to the door and ushering the others out stopping as the door closed behind rouge who left last looking back towards shadow. "Why are you being so willing even offering all of GUNs aid" Shadow asked looking to the commander returning a stern glare
"There's too much I don't know and meeting someone with that damned name doesn't help" the commander began anger filling his voice "that boy is a risk with how little we know, if you're offering to fix things and get rid of him then i will help to ensure the safety of this world" Shadow simply nodded again and walked out
Outside of the HQ the others began to engage in small talk while walking towards the tornado. The streets that were once bustling with life were now empty of everything except uncertainty. Soldiers walked around checking every alleyway as people quickly scurried to where they had to be. The Fog was still heavy in the air, likely lowering the atmosphere even further. "So who is metal sonic" Hydra asked turning to the group
"A robot built by Eggman meant to be sonics superior" Tails responded earning a more confused look from the wolf "Eggman is an evil genius with ambitions of taking over the world" tails added with a small chuckle
"That doesn't seem like something to laugh about" Hydra replied with worry and confusion written on his face
"Oh don't worry hydra old Egghead doesn't stand a chance we beat him every time all the time" sonic added with a grin holding his arm as if he was waiting for a moment to act, which calmed the wolf who laughed at his antics
Arriving at the tornado, Tails flew into the cockpit as Rouge followed and laid back in the second seat with her feet upon the back of the chair in front of her as sonic jumped on to the wings of the plane and looked to the sky.
"How am I supposed to get in?" hydra asked quietly as he chuckled nervously "and where am i supposed to sit" he asked in an even shyer voice.
"Just try and jump up here hydra" Sonic said laughing with the others "you'll just have to sit on the wings with me, it's not as bad as it seems" He added scratching the back of his head still laughing quietly.
"Um okay" the wolf said backing away from the wing for a running start and jumping clearly much higher than he expected considering his suddenly wide eyes and mouth opened in a 'oh snap' position as his stomach slammed into the wing literally knocking the air out of him as he tried to claw his way up onto the wing.
"Ooh wipeout" sonic called out wincing before taking one of the wolves hands and helping him up onto the plane "sorry buddy should have figured you might now know what your body can do". Sonic said as he patted down the wolves shoulders of all the nonexistent debris.
"It's fine" hydra said clutching his stomach "anyway where's shadow" he asked trying to change the subject to a less embarrassing note and as if on cue a yellow flash similar to the blue one from before came through and jumped into the air revealing shadow who landed flawlessly on the wing.
"Soooo what did you find out" rouge asked dragging out her words in a unserious voice
"Were heading to Holoska" Shadow replied looking at rouge with a glare knowing she also received the information but only received a shrug and a hand up in mock surrender from her. Shaking his head and looking to Tails he started "there's some type of temple with 'Ozero' etched in to it that GUN has continually failed to investigate"
"Is that all it says?" tails asked pushing buttons on his console
"The etchings are damaged it only says 'To Ozero The Fr' before cutting off" shadow answered
"Well it sounds like there's only one way for us to go! Are you ready for this Hydra?!" sonic asked clearly getting pumped up for the next adventure
Taking a moment to look at the city that slowly began to return to normal, then all the new faces he's met, then the ever expanding sky that they planned to sail through, and lastly at his own hands before clenching his hands into fist and looking back to the others "i'm ready for anything, let's do this!" hydra exclaimed
"Alright then tornado engage!" Tails exclaimed "to Holoska" he continued the plane slowly rolling down a road before quickly picking up speed and shooting into the air. Knocking down an unexpecting hydra who let out a yelp as he fell and was now clinging on to the edge of the plane's wing for dear life as sonic quickly grabbed him.
"Woah you okay" sonic asked, picking up the wolf and stabilizing his feet on the wing so he could stand without fear of the wind dragging him off. Expecting the wolf to be panicked and scared, the blue hedgehog was surprised to hear laughter from the wolf, an infectious laugh that spread to the hedgehog and fox, while putting a smile on the other hedgehog and bat. "Are you sure you're okay though?" sonic asked quizzically
"Of course I mean I'm kind of scared after almost falling but you said I can count on you guys right". Sonic nodded at the wolves words, "then that Holoska place is the one that needs to be worried cause we're coming" the wolf exclaimed full of confidence that earned a grin and then a thumbs up from the blue hedgehog, as the the plane continued to rise higher challenging the clouds until it surpassed them revealing a bright blue sky and the yellow sun in the sky guiding their way with light and warmth.
