Obelisk Arena: After School…
Kai sat within the stands of the currently empty Obelisk arena after Greg took off for the Slifer Dorm. He had his eyes closed as his mind worked through the various combos they could perform with their decks. He was suddenly snapped out of it by someone touching his arm.
"Sorry to intrude." Bastion stated as he took a seat beside his friend. "I thought you might want to know what you missed in class today as well as receive your homework."
Sheppard had informed the four students up for suspensions that they didn't have to go to class over the time they were preparing for their respective tag duels; however, they'd still be required to keep up with their studies.
Chumley had offered to film classes for Greg while getting all his fellow Slifers their work as well, and Bastion had offered much the same for Kai. The Ra handed over a small notebook along with a list of assignments.
"Thanks Bastion." Kai smiled. "I appreciate this."
"It's hardly a bother." Bastion responded. "After all, what are friends for?"
Kai smiled warmly at that sentiment as it's been a long time since he's had friends. There were people he'd say were on friendly terms with him but none of them were people he'd call friends. The fact that this suspension would see him lose time with them during school hours…
"Well, that's just one more reason I have for coming out on top." Kai thought.
"If you need anything beyond me simply bringing notes and homework, don't hesitate to ask." Bastion patted Kai's shoulder before standing. "As for now, I should be getting back to the Ra dorm." He started to walk away. "Be sure to be at the academy tomorrow, same time as today, to give me the notebook if you're not going to be in class again."
Slifer Dorm: Jaden, Syrus, and Chumley's Room
Syrus was sitting in his bed, with his blanket over his head, as he just stared at Power Bond with a melancholic expression. His brother's words constantly repeated in his mind.
"I never would have given you that card if you were going to misplay it. Sure, you know how to use Power Bond, but there's more to dueling than that."
"Oh, I don't know a thing about duel monsters." He hid under his covers. "I'll just end up letting Jaden down." All the Slifer could think about now was him being the one responsible for them losing. "I'm toast."
Obelisk Blue Male Dorm
Jaden was walking towards the Obelisk male dorm. "I can't believe this Zane guy. I mean, no wonder Syrus has zero confidence. If I had a big bro who told me I wasn't good enough to use some card, I'd be insecure to. Now, it's all about to change."
Two Obelisk ended up spotting Jaden and getting in his way. When he expressed his desire to challenge Zane, the pair pushed him to his butt.
"Hey, what's your problem!?" Jaden asked frustrated.
"I have no problems, but you sure will if you don't beat it."
"Yeah, Zane wouldn't waste his time with you. You're probably still wet behind the ears from pre-duel school."
"I am not!" Jaden exclaimed as he stood. "Besides, what's the idea here anyways when word's already spread that he took on Kai Delmar?"
A bucket of water was thrown over him.
"That was just a fluke of a match which shouldn't have happened anyways."
"Besides, the at the time Ra lost, so what hope do you have?"
The pair went inside the dorm, leaving Jaden frustrated.
Slifer Dorm: Evening…
Jaden had met Chumley on his way back to the dorm and went about explaining his drenched clothing as they walked together. After grabbing a towel from the showers to dry himself, the pair walked back to their room.
"So, what are you going to do now?" Chumley asked.
"I'll tell you one thing I'm not going to do, give up." Jaden declared firmly. "I'll find Kai and get him to tell me how he got his duel with the guy."
Jaden, Syrus, and Chumley's Room
The pair entered their room and looked to the middle bed of their bunk beds at what they presumed to be Syrus sleeping under the covers.
"Sy, are you still in bed?" Jaden asked in disbelief. "Look, I know you're feeling down, but that's no reason to act like some lazy slug." He walked on in and removed the blanket, only to see an empty bed. "Where'd he go?"
Chumley had wandered over to their desks. "Hey, he left a note!"
"What's it say?" Jaden asked.
"Dear Jaden,
I'm leaving Duel Academy. Don't try and stop me because this is for the best. I'd only be holding you back if I stayed."
Jaden snatched and crumpled the letter determined. "Sy isn't going anywhere."
"Yeah, let's go get him." Chumley agreed, not willing to let the little guy go either.
The pair bolted from the room.
Outside the Obelisk Arena
Kai had spent hours thinking about the future tag duel and shifting through his deck to visualize combos before heading out of the arena. As he left, he spotted Jasmine coming towards him. She was heading to the arena, but upon spotting him, she came straight to him.
"Ah, you're here." Jasmine voiced in relief. "I was getting worried when you weren't picking up your PDA, so I paid a visit to the male dorm, only to hear some fellow Obelisk spotted you at the arena."
"Sorry to worry you, Jasmine." Kai apologized genuinely. "My PDA needed a recharge, so I left it in my room to do that while I was out here with Greg."
"It's just a relief to see you're fine." Jasmine voiced as they started walking along together. "After what happened to Alexis…"
"Yeah, seems I was misguided in my actions considering that whole ordeal." Kai voiced.
"Thanks for your part in that." Jasmine smiled. "Because of you having a hand in setting Crowler straight, I didn't lose one of my friends."
"While what I did led to a good outcome, not sure I should be thanked for simply speaking my mind." Kai decided not to voice that and merely shook his head. "It was no big deal. Fairly certain even Jaden might have blown up at Crowler over what he did were he in my shoes."
With that out of the way, the two Obelisk fell into a nice, easy conversation. Kai was thankful for the distraction from the tag duel while Jasmine genuinely wanted to do these kinds of things with the heroic user.
Lighthouse
Zane was alone at the lighthouse before Alexis approached, drawing his attention. "How have you been faring?"
"Far better than the immediate aftermath of the whole thing." Alexis answered honestly.
"That's understandable." Zane nodded. "What you went through was quite the ordeal."
The two of them ending up at this lighthouse wasn't an uncommon occurrence. Zane often came here to think, and the Obelisk Queen had begun joining him. Zane was at his most talkative here, even if he still maintained his aloof air.
"Do you really believe Crowler entered the Shadow Realm?" Zane asked.
"I believe as much since I trust Jaden, Syrus, Greg, and Kai to be honest with me." Alexis nodded. "Given how Crowler explained Shadow Games, it provides a reason to how my brother and those eleven Obelisk vanished."
"Well, the game of Duel Monsters has long since been rumored to be steeped in magic." Zane voiced. "Maximillian Pegasus based the game on ancient carvings. Not to mention Duelist Kingdom and Battle City seemed to have many strange events."
A lot of matches from both tournaments had been censored, with the focus being put on the participants' dueling rather than their words. Partiuclar duels, such as Yugi vs Pegasus, or any duels with Ryo Bakura and Marik Ishtar seemed to have real damage.
"I didn't take you for the type to engage in topics like this." Alexis noted with a small smile.
"In the face of the inconceivable, one must be ready to accept even the most outlandish possibility." Zane retorted.
"Stay away Jaden."
Syrus' voice drew the pair's attention down the coastline.
"What is Syrus doing?" Alexis questioned.
Coast
Syrus had built a raft and was ready to use it to depart the island. The fact Jaden was currently running towards him only prompted the Vehicroid user to jump onto the raft to set out before the hero user could stop him.
Before Syrus could pick up his paddle, Jaden had taken a leap onto the raft. With both of them on it, the thing fell apart and sent the boys into the water. They both managed to surface; however, there was a problem.
"Help me!" Syrus flailed about as he reached for Jaden. "I can't swim!"
"You were about to raft out into open water when you can't swim!" Jaden exclaimed, dismayed.
As Syrus latched onto Jaden, the pair ended up going under which prompted Chumley to action as he arrived. "I'm coming!" As he tried to dive, he realized something and surfaced. "It's shallow…"
The other two Slifer's surfaced as they realized this.
"Why are you trying to stop me Jaden?" Syrus crossed his arms. "I stink. Please, just let me go. Then, you'll be assigned a new tag partner and have a much better shot at winning the match."
"Sy, that's your brother talking." Jaden argued. "Come on pal, you just got to believe in yourself."
"You got to believe me." Syrus retorted. "I'm a lost cause."
"He is right." Zane's spoke.
All three Slifers turned their attention to the land above where Zane and Alexis now stood.
"So, that's Zane." Jaden voiced to himself.
"You dropping out?" Zane asked his brother.
"Well, yeah." Syrus replied. "I mean, kind of."
"It's about time." Zane retorted.
Syrus felt melancholic as he turned back to repair the raft.
"You're his big brother!" Jaden yelled. "How can you say that?"
"It's because I know him." Zane retorted.
"Yeah, I bet you think you know it all, but I'll prove you wrong." Jaden declared. "Let's duel."
Syrus was surprised as he turned around.
"Duel a Slifer?" Zane gave a small smile. "Sure, it's been a while since I've been slumming anyways."
Harbor: Night…
Zane and Jaden faced off. "Duel!"
(Jaden 4000/Zane 4000)
Syrus was off to the side with Alexis and Chumley, and he was worried. "Oh man, my big brother taking on my best friend? There's no way this can turn out good."
"Here I come Zane." Jaden drew. "I'll kick things off with Elemental HERO Prisma(LV 4/1700/1100)." A warrior made of blue crystal appeared. "Through his effect, I can reveal any fusion within my Extra Deck and send a named material on it from my deck to the grave.
Then, this guy takes on that monster's name until the end of the turn. I'll reveal to you Elemental HERO Necroid Shaman and now will send Elemental HERO Necroshade from my deck to the grave. With that out of the way, I'll throw down a face down and end my turn."
"I see." Zane drew. "I'll activate the continuous spell Clockwork Night which makes all monsters on the field machine type. From here on out, all machine type monsters I control will have 500 extra ATK/DEF while all machine monsters you control loose the same amount."
Elemental HERO Prisma(LV 4/1200/600 effect) changed from crystal to mechanical.
"Now, as you control a monster and I do not, I'll special summon Cyber Dragon(LV 5/2600/2100 effect)." The serpentine machine dragon appeared. "It only gets worse as I'll normal summon Cyber Dragon Vier(Cyber Dragon)(LV 4/1600/2100 effect).
A lankier serpentine machine appeared. "His name becomes Cyber Dragon while on the field or in the grave, which is bad news for you as Vier's effect grants every Cyber Dragon I control an additional 500 ATK/DEF while he's on the field."
Cyber Dragon Vier(Cyber Dragon)(LV 4/2100/2600 effect)
Cyber Dragon(LV 5/3100/2600 effect)
"Whoa, their attack is rising fast." Jaden stated.
"Not as fast as your life points will go down." Zane declared. "The original Cyber Dragon will attack your Prisma."
Cyber Dragon blasted Prisma (Jaden 2100/Zane 4000).
"I reveal my face down, Hero Signal." Jaden declared. "Since you destroyed a monster I control, I can special summon any Level 4 or lower HERO from my deck. I choose Elemental HERO Blazeman(LV 4/700/1300 effect) in defense mode." A warrior in black, red, and blue spandex appeared. "Whenever Blazeman is summoned, I can fetch Polymerization from my deck."
Of course, Blazeman did have that other effect he'd used in his duel with Kai, but that wouldn't buff him up nearly enough to survive. Besides, this time the hero user wanted his Polymerization anyways.
"Then, Vier will destroy your Blazeman." On Zane's command, Vier blasted Blazeman, destroying him and leaving Jaden's field empty. "I'll then set this one card and it's your move."
"I better make this turn count because I'm starting to get the feeling that not only is this guy as good as everyone says he is, but he might be better." Jaden put his hand on his deck. "Still, that doesn't mean he's better than me." He gave a little smirk as he drew. "Alright, round 2.
First, I'll utilize the effect of Elemental HERO Necroshade from my grave." Jaden declared. "Once while he's in there, I can summon any Level 5 or higher HERO without tributing a single card. That's useful as I summon Elemental HERO Bladedge(LV 7/2100/1300 effect)."
A golden hero with blades coming out his arms appeared. "Now, I'll rock Polymerization to combine Elemental HEROS Avian and Burstinatrix. Fusion Summon Elemental Hero Flame Wingman(LV 6/1600/700 effect)." A green warrior with a wing and red dragon arm appeared.
"Alright, Jaden just got out some real powerful heroes." Chumley cheered.
"They're reduced in power while Zane's monsters are increased by that continuous spell." Alexis reminded. "If Jaden wants this turn to mean anything, he'll need to find a way to change that; otherwise, at best, he can merely clash Bladedge with Vier."
"If Jaden had just managed to summon Stratos, Zane's continuous spell wouldn't have been an issue." Syrus thought.
"Now, I activate R – Righteous Justice which allows me to destroy spell/trap cards you control up to the number of Elemental HEROs I control." Jaden continued. "You're Clockwork Night is history. That means the ATKs of the monsters we control are about to change."
"While that is true, my monsters are still under the effect of Vier." Zane reminded.
Cyber Dragon(LV 5/2600/2100 effect)
Cyber Dragon Vier(Cyber Dragon)(LV 4/1600/2100 effect)
Elemental HERO Bladedge(LV 7/2600/1800)
Elemental Hero Flame Wingman(LV 6/2100/1200)
"That won't be the case for long as Flame Wingman will destroy your Vier with Skydive Scorcher!" Jaden exclaimed.
Flame Wingman lept into the air before coming down on Vier cloaked in flames (Jaden 2100/Zane 3500). This naturally resulted in Cyber Dragon(LV 5/2100/1600) returning to its original ATK/DEF.
"Whenever Flame Wingman sends a monster he battles to the grave, you take damage equal to their original ATK, so that's a good 1100 life points worth of damage coming your way." Jaden declared.
Flame Wingman stood before Zane and expelled flames from his dragon arm over him (Jaden 2100/Zane 2400).
"Now, your Cyber Dragon can be destroyed by my Bladedge." On Jaden's order, Bladedge rushed forward and sliced through Cyber Dragon (Jaden 2100/Zane 1900). "You're good Zane; however, looks like I've reversed our fields, so give me your best."
"You want my best?" Zane drew. "Well, you've got it. Frist, you've put me in the same situation I was on my turn one, so I can special summon Cyber Dragon(LV 5/2100/1600). Then, I'll activate Cybernetic Fusion Support.
For the cost of half my life points, any fusion spell I play to Fusion summon a Machine monster can banish the required cards from my hand, field, or grave." (Jaden 2100/Zane 950). "That's perfect as I have the three materials I'd want, between my field and grave, for Power Bond."
"Oh no." Syrus thought.
"You played well Jaden but not well enough." Zane stated.
"Give me whatever you got because I'm ready." Jaden returned.
"I'm sure you are because a good duelist is ready for anything." Zane voiced. "That means not just using their cards but knowing how to play them to." He gave a small smile. "You play your cards well Jaden."
"Knowing how to play your cards…" Syrus was realizing just what his brother meant. "Of course! Knowing how to use a card and knowing how to play a card are two entirely different things. That's what Zane was trying to tell me all those years ago."
"I now activate the magic of Power Bond, and I'll fuel it by banishing my Cyber Dragon on the field with the two in my grave." Zane declared. "Fusion summon Cyber End Dragon(LV 12/4000/2800)."
A large, three headed mechanical dragon appeared. "It's ATK will double due to the effect of Power Bond." Cyber End Dragon(LV 12/8000/2800 effect). "Cyber End Dragon, let's end this duel by destroying Bladedge, Super Strident Blaze."
All three heads fired as one on Bladedge, destroying him (Jaden 0/Zane 950).
"Jaden!" Chumley yelled.
"I can't believe he lost." Alexis voiced in shock.
Syrus rushed to his friend's side.
Jaden just smiled at Zane. "Thanks for a great duel."
Zane gave a slight smile before turning, only to then turn back to look at his brother who seemed to have found a bit more determination. After a moment, he took his leave which prompted Alexis to follow.
"So Zane, what do you think?" Alexis asked.
"I think Syrus choose good friends." Zane replied.
Jaden and Syrus watched the Obelisk leave with the former speaking up. "Come on Sy, let's go back to the dorms and work on our decks." The Vehicroid user nodded. "I say we even arrange yours, so you can finally use Power Bond."
"For sure." Syrus agreed. "Now, I know how to play it rather than just use it."
Obelisk Arena: Days Later…
"Depending on whose turn it is, you can use Concentrating Current on one of our monsters, and I'll combo it with my Power Gravity." Kai explained. "At bear minimum it'll be massive damage."
"I can see that." Greg nodded before pulling out DNA Surgery. "What about this card? If I rearrange my deck to exclude the few type specific cards I use, we could turn everything into warriors. Then, your more abundant warrior support could work with my monsters."
"Not to mention it might just disrupt our opponent as well." Kai reasoned. "We'll have to try that against some other pair; however, let's keep that strategy sidelined when we duel Jaden and Syrus."
As both sets of boys would be tag dueling for the same stakes coming up, it was only natural they'd end up at least getting in one practice tag duel against each other. According to Jaden, he felt Syrus and he would be ready soon.
In the meantime, Kai and Greg have been tag dueling anyone who'd give them the time of day. While their individual archetypes didn't play too well together, their individual skill with a few staple cards more than made up for the lack of consistency.
"Hey you two." Jasmine greeted, having entered the arena. "How's the duel prep coming?"
"Well enough." Kai stated.
"I'd say we've managed to concoct some good strategies." Greg agreed.
Kai and Greg had avoided going to class in the initial days to really hammer home how they could tag duel together. In the last three days now, after class, they came here to refine their synergy and strategies.
They'd pretty much settled on the Obelisk Arena because there was no shortage of male Obelisk who took issue with a Slifer hanging around. It led to a lot of practice for the pair since Greg always told them he'd only stake staying here on a tag duel.
"Well, I'm glad you two have a plan, and I'll look forward to watching you guys." Jasmine commented. "Anyways, I'm going to head back to my dorm."
"Hold up a second." Kai looked to Greg. "What's say we call it early today?"
"Say no more." Greg grinned knowingly as he patted the heroic user's shoulder. "I'll spend a bit longer here looking over my deck."
Kai nodded gratefully to the Slifer before moving to join Jasmine. "Let's walk back together."
Jasmine smiled. "I'd like that." Once they were alone, she picked up the conversation as her cheeks turned red a bit. "Kai, I know things are busy right now, but once you've come out the other side, I was hoping you'd like to do something…just the two of us."
Kai hadn't been certain what was going on between him and Jasmine. Were they just friends or had more been developing between them? It seemed to be the latter; however, nothing really happened between them beyond blushes.
When she posed the question, the heroic user did not even need a second to think about it. "Yeah, I'd love to do something with you once things are less insane."
"Good." Jasmine stated happily. "We can talk about it after everything and decide what we want to do."
"Sounds great." Kai agreed.
This put the pair of Obelisk in a good mood as they made their way back to the Obelisk dorm, there conversation was light and fruitful as they walk. In truth, the pair were in no hurry to get back as they just enjoyed being in each other's company.
Slifer Dorm: Cliff
This time, Jaden was the one above the cliff as Syrus faced off with Chumley. Just as with the beast user last time, the hero user wasn't alone as Dimitri had come out to see the duel. After spending days going over Syrus' deck, it was time to put him through his paces.
"Alright Sy, we've spent all this time going over every card in your deck." Jaden called down. "Now, remember what you learned prior and couple it with that experience."
"Let's see what you both can do." Dimitri added.
"Alright, I got this." Syrus took a deep breath before giving a serious expression. "Alright, let's do this Chumley."
"You got it Syrus." Chumley nodded. "I'll do my best to really push you."
"Let's Duel!"
(Syrus 4000/Chumley 4000)
"I'll now summon Jetroid(LV 4/1200/1800)." A red, cartoonish jet appeared. "That's all I got, so it's your turn Chum."
"Did Syrus just draw nothing he could set to back up his monster?" Dimitri asked.
"Nah, with the way Syrus' deck is built, he wouldn't play Jetroid without something useable in his hand." Jaden grinned. "Just be patient because this is going to be a sweet move."
"If that's all you want to do, then don't go complaining when your life points drop." Chumley drew. "I activate Double Summon allowing me to normal summon twice this turn. First, I'll bring out Sea Koala(LV 2/100/1600)." A brown kola appeared
"Then, I'll summon Tree Otter(LV 2/1200/100)." A blue otter appeared. "Now, for their effects which only work so long as I control another beast. First, Tree Otter allows me to grant any Beast I control 1000 more ATK this turn. I choose Sea Koala(LV 2/1100/1600 effect)."
The blue Kola bulked up.
"Why would you grant your Sea Koala 1000 more ATK when you could give it to you Tree Otter and have enough to avoid clashing?" Syrus asked.
"It's because of Sea Koala's own effect where I can now target your monster and zero out his ATK for this turn." Chumley informed as Jetroid(LV 4/0/1800 effect) collapsed to the ground. "Now, I'll attack your Jetroid with my Tree Otter."
"Whenever you select Jetroid as the target for an attack, I'm allowed to activate any traps I have within my hand." Syrus declared. "In this case, you triggered my Magic Cylinder meaning that attack is now redirected to you."
As Tree Otter moved to slam into Jetroid, he was sucked into a cylinder before being ejected from another right back at Chumley (Syrus 4000/Chumley 2800). Unlike Jaden, Chumley hadn't been privy to the times the pair would go over Syrus' deck.
"Alright, that was pretty cool." Dimitri noted. "Can't say I've heard of an effect like that."
"Didn't see that coming." Chumley looked at the field. "Does he have something else in his hand to block my Sea Koala? Maybe I should…no. If he has another trap in hand, I can make him use it; otherwise, I'll still get damage off."
He nodded. "Sea Koala will destroy Jetroid." Sea Koala surged forth and smashed through the machine monster (Syrus 2900/Chumley 2800). "Alright, I'll now set this one card before calling my turn good there."
Sea Koala(LV 2/100/1600)
"That was a sweet first two turns." Jaden declared proudly.
"Yeah, they're pretty much even going into turn three." Dimitri agreed.
"Here I come." Syrus drew. "I summon Steamroid(LV 4/1800/1800)." A cartoonish train appeared. "Now, he'll destroy your Sea Koala."
"Before you get to his effect, I reveal my face down Beast Rising." Chumley countered. "This continuous trap sees me remove from play any Beast or Beast-Warrior I control to grant another of those I control their ATK. I remove Sea Kola to grant Tree Otter one hundred more ATK."
Tree Otter(LV 2/1300/100 effect)
"Then, Steamroid's attack is now aimed at your Tree Otter." Syrus declared. "Whenever Steamroid(LV 4/2300/1800 effect) attacks a monster, he gains 500 extra ATK for that battle." Steamroid ran down Tree Otter (Syrus 2900/Cumley 1800). "I'll end with one set card."
"That was a smart card on Chumley's part." Dimitri smiled. "He saved himself a lot of life points."
"Yeah, they're both playing really well." Jaden voiced.
"My move." Chumley smiled. "I'm activating Pot of Greed to draw two cards. Lichious! Get ready Sy because I activate Polymerization to combine Kangaroo Champ and Hyena from my hand. Now, I bring out the beast of the flip effect. Fusion summon Master of Ham(LV 5/2100/1850)." A bipedal hamster with a leather jacker and blade appeared.
"That's the toughest looking hamster I've ever seen!" Syrus exclaimed.
"If you think his appearance is tough, just wait for his effect." Chumley smiled. "Whenever he's Fusion or Flip summoned, I can special summon a monster with a flip effect from my deck or hand face down." He retrieved a monster from his deck.
"Now, I activate Book of Taiyou from my hand allowing me to target one face down monster on the field and flip it face up to attack mode. The only one is my Des Koala(LV 4/1100/1800)." A brow koala appeared. "For every card in your hand, you take 400 life points of damage."
"I have three cards in my hand, so that's 1200 life points!" Syrus exclaimed.
An earthy brown aura washed over him (Syrus 1700/Cumley 1800)
"Now, Master of Ham will attack your Steamroid." Chumley declared.
"I'd rather keep him around, so I'll activate Magical Arm Sheild." Syrus countered. "I can only use this if I control a monster of my own. Now, I can target any other monster you control, take control of it, and swap your monster's attack to that monster."
Des Koala was grabbed before Master of Ham shifted focus to and sliced through him (Syrus 700/Chumley 1800).
"Alright, you weathered the turn." Chumley declared. "With nothing left in my hand, I'll have to call my turn there."
"Here goes!" Syrus drew before widening his eyes as he drew it. "My Power Bond." For a moment he contemplated just putting it back in his hand, like he did against Jaden, only this time he wouldn't have a Polymerization to use. "No, I know the difference now.
I can not only use this card, I know how to play it." He firmed up his resolve before holding the spell high. "I activate the fusion spell Power Bond and use it to combine my Steamroid on the field with the Gyroid in my hand."
"He's doing it!" Dimitri exclaimed excitedly.
"Go for it Sy!" Jaden cheered.
"Fusion summon Steam Gyroid(LV 6/2200/1600)." The cartoonish train with parts of helicopter attached appeared. "Due to the power of Power Bond, his ATK doubles; however, I'll take damage equal to my monster's original attack at the end of the turn."
Steam Gyroid(LV 6/4400/1600 effect)
"Whoa, that's one strong train." Chumley thought.
"Having said that, there won't be an end of turn because I'm finishing this duel right now!" Syrus declared. "Steam Gyroid, destroy Master of Ham with Train Twister!"
The helicopter parts of Steam Gyroid spun as he launched forward and demolished the opposing fusion (Syrus 700/Chumley 0).
"Wait, I won?" Syrus question, coming down from the high of pulling off that move.
"Yeah, you won." Chumley nodded with a smile. "God job Syrus."
The two Slifers atop the cliff were rushing down to them.
"That was great Syrus!" Dimitri cheered.
"Way to go!" Jaden added. "You pulled of Power Bond!"
"I did!" Syrus laughed. "I actually did it!"
The other three Slifers joined Syrus, and they celebrated his achievement.
I know Master of Ham only works with flip monsters and not just monsters who happen to have flip effects; however, I feel it's such a minor change to the card which then makes it viable for Chumley's deck. Besides, I tend to use a good deal of anime effects coupled with TCG effects to the point if Master of Ham had appeared in the anime, I could totally see it working on all flip effect monsters.
Threebranch: At this point, those two just have all the modern support under the sun. Blue-Eyes is always receiving support, and I think the number of Yugi centric cards that haven't gotten support in some form is minimal.
The Duelist of Dawn: Fortunately for Yuri, Seto isn't like his own adopted father was. Yeah, the kids realized fast they would not last long against those two, so they both individually attempted to take the duel fast. Unfortunately for them, these two are the top 2 duelists in their dimension. Still, the attempt was most certainly noted along with what they could pull off in such a short amount of time.
Vital Info: I commit to nothing, but I think I'm generally done with things outside the island for the first year. What I want to set up is set up, far as I see. Now when we see Seto, Yugi, and so on it's going to be on the island and directly impacted whatever is immediately happening rather than setting up for the future plot points to come. That said, there is still set up to come on the island for future plot points.
