Chapter 116 Fenrir Greyback

"Curse you, daring to attack me. I have such an appetite to tear your throat out; it looks so delectable! The boy may be a good dinner, and the girl may be a sweet dessert."

He raised his filthy hand to wipe the bloodstain from his forehead. Then, he stuck out his tongue and licked the blood from his hand—slowly, gently, repulsively. His visage revealed an insatiable craving.

Upon witnessing that, Hermione's face paled.

She quickly drew her wand and approached Evan.

"Back away, this is not where you should be. Aurors and Dementors are close by…" Evan's wand still pointed towards his opponent, emitting a faint glow from its tip.

"Before they come running, I'll be long gone!" The man gnashed his teeth with his yellow nails and grinned darkly. "You two are very unfortunate. I thought it would take me much longer to find my prey. Since I received the letter from him, my companions, those cowards, all went to the Muggle streets. Only I came to Hogsmeade because I know that the blood of a young wizard is much more fascinating than that of a little Muggle."

Just as he finished speaking, a shrill voice was heard. It was from a man with a black mask who appeared by his side.

"Hurry up, Greyback! You only have a minute. I took the risk and promised to come here with you just for Galleons, not to listen to your nonsense. Hogwarts is not far from here, and I don't want to provoke Dumbledore." He glanced contemptuously at Evan and Hermione, speaking anxiously and sharply. "As for these two, give them each a bite, and remember to keep them alive. Along with the Muggles the others have prepared, they should satisfy you."

A bite each? That doesn't sound very pleasant.

Evan's body was rigid, his mind fully focused. The conversation between the two reminded him of someone. That, along with the man's appearance, almost confirmed his identity.

It is Fenrir Greyback, the werewolf who turned Professor Lupin.

As everyone knows, he is perhaps the wildest werewolf alive today. He considers it his life's mission to bite and infect as many people as possible.

He specializes in children... He bites them young, he says, and raises them far from their parents, raising them to hate normal wizards. They will, in turn, cause fear and despair themselves. Due to his long-term consumption of human flesh and blood, he always craved that, even when it wasn't a full moon.

Greyback was Voldemort's most loyal supporter. During the first Wizarding War, he was one of the Dark Lord's most deterrent weapons.

Voldemort would assign him to bite those who disobeyed, and such threats often worked.

After Voldemort's fall, Greyback was fortunate to escape and not be captured in Azkaban. However, due to Auror persecution, he also went into hiding and rarely made any public appearances. Many wizards even hoped that he had actually died.

Clearly, their expectations were completely wrong.

Evan didn't know how Greyback had suddenly appeared here in Hogsmeade, unfortunately crossing paths with him and Hermione.

First it was Sirius Black, and now it's Greyback. Hogsmeade this year has certainly been eventful! They are the most dangerous fugitives pursued by the Ministry of Magic. Fudge would surely send another 500 Dementors if he ever found out about all this.

Moreover, after hearing the man with the black mask next to Greyback, Evan knew they were clearly plotting something. Could this have something to do with Voldemort?

Evan looked at Greyback vigilantly. Though curious, he knew well that it was not the time to study such a man.

It didn't matter what they were scheming; the most critical thing now was to protect Hermione.

"Evan hemmed in Hermione protectively. "That man is a werewolf, you must go!" "I will hold them off, and you must find a teacher to assist us."

Despite her tear-filled eyes showing unwavering determination, Hermione shook her head.

Without uttering a word, she grasped her wand and took a step forward, standing by Evan's side, displaying her steadfast resolve to support him.

Seeing Hermione's determination, Evan sighed. He knew no matter what he said, she would never abandon him and flee. Just as it was impossible for him to leave Hermione, it was equally inconceivable for her. They had no choice but to face the situation together.

"So be it. On the count of three, we strike together!" whispered Evan. "Make sure to protect yourself, and remember, if all else fails, you must escape."

Just as Evan finished speaking with Hermione, they both heard the man with the black mask speaking anxiously.

"Hurry up, Greyback! We don't have time!"

"Shut up, coward!" growled Greyback. "Don't rush me. You only came to help..."

Mid-sentence, he fell silent.

He saw a red light approaching and hurried to dodge Hermione's spell.

Just as he was about to catch his breath, Evan's spell followed.

He fell to the ground to evade Evan's spell, but in vain. He had been too careless. Evan's spell had a deceptive trajectory. He rolled on the ground, but eventually, his right leg was struck.

Evan knew Greyback's body was highly resistant to magic. He did not use the Stupefy spell; this time he employed Petrificus Totalus.

Under its effect, Greyback's body turned blue-gray in the blink of an eye, becoming as rigid as a wooden board.

"Damn it! I'll kill you!" Greyback shouted, struggling to rise and then quickly falling back to the ground.

"Enough, you foolish werewolf!" The man with the black mask hurriedly drew his wand. "I must have gone mad! I only came with you for Galleons."

As he spoke, he cast several spells aimed at Evan and Hermione.

The beams emitted from his wand were all green, like fireflies. Needless to say, they were curses, and the two hurried to dodge them.

Taking advantage of the moment, the masked man ran towards Greyback, aiming to undo the spell.

However, Evan did not give him the chance; he quickly cast a spell at him.

He dodged it and retaliated against both.

Both sides were casting spells, engaging in a deadly battle.

Despite being stronger than Evan and Hermione, the masked man was struggling to deal with them. With their joint effort, the two were holding their own.

After a while, it was impossible to determine who would win the battle, and the masked man found no opportunity to undo Evan's spell.

With time, he appeared increasingly anxious as the situation turned more unfavorable for him. He shouted anxiously, which clearly affected his concentration; his next spells flew over Evan and Hermione.

Though highly exhausting, the two clung on with determination. If they persisted a few more minutes, rescue would eventually arrive.

As the battle raged on, it seemed they might succeed in capturing their two enemies.

Just as Evan thought victory was within reach, the situation suddenly shifted.
