Throughout The Day
After five call-outs, three medical and two fires, it was soon nighttime.
Arnold soon bumped into Spinelli. "What are you still doing up late? I thought you were in bed already."
"Actually, Arnold… I was wondering if maybe… we'd sleep together? And since every bedroom is all private, I was maybe thinking we could have some fun…" She bit her lip.
Arnold felt his cheeks get hot. "Spinelli! I know we're attracted towards this fun at night but… we can't risk it here!" Arnold whispered. "I wasn't talking about sex, you idiot! I was maybe thinking of some kisses and naked cuddles." Spinelli couldn't contain her giggle as she had a finger on his nose.
"You sexy animal…" Arnold smirked as he briefly kissed her neck. "Arnold! Not here!" Spinelli took his hand and went towards his bedroom.
She locked the door behind them and they started to take each other's clothes off.
"Do me the honors, Arnold." Spinelli said as she took off her shirt, revealing her sports bra. "My girls are just itching to get wet." Spinelli mentioned as she rubbed her hand on his boxers.
Arnold squeezed her breasts as he soon lifted her bra. "I think it's only right if we enjoy this while we can." Arnold smirked as he placed his tongue on her nipple. Spinelli briefly bit her lip and kissed his forehead as he licked her chest.
"I may have had this lying around at home, figured you'd like it." Spinelli showed Arnold her lipgloss. He only smirked as he kept licking her chest. Spinelli bit her lip again and clenched Arnold's hair. "Pleasure me…"
"You really know how to pleasure a woman, don't you, Arnold?" Spinelli gave a loving smile. "Let's just keep having our fun, don't you think, Spin?"
Spinelli only pressed her lips on Arnold's lips and started kissing him.
"Any idea how wet I am down here?" Spinelli smirked. "I think I should check it out." Arnold smirked back.
"Not quite yet." She kept smirking and kept kissing after.
Ten Minutes Later
Spinelli and Arnolds' hair was all ruffled up as they were partially sweaty and wet from having their fun.
Spinelli had her hands around Arnold's head as he kept sucking on her nipples.
"Everytime I'm with you, I feel loved like an actual woman…" Spinelli said in delight. Arnold soon looked at her, she looked at him. Their eyes locked together. And the two started to kiss again.
"You know, Spinelli, I never knew your breasts would be this great under that bra of yours…" Arnold kissed her again as he started kissing her neck. Spinelli smirked when she grabbed her sports bra. She then put it on Arnold's face.
"Smells like the Spinelli I know." Arnold smirked as he took it off his face. "Isn't it crazy how we're doing each other while we're here?" Spinelli asked. "Ah, doesn't matter. We once did it in the shower, which I wouldn't mind doing again, never knew how good it was while we showered together that night."
"Arnold, you dirty, sexy beast." Spinelli felt lovesick as Arnold started kissing her down on her stomach area.
Spinelli knew Arnold for her entire career, and she considered him her greatest friend, and with their hookups the past couple of months, Spinelli felt like a fire was lit inside her. A fire she'd never felt before. A fire of love.
Arnold hasn't felt much love ever since the passing of his wife, but with Spinelli with him the whole way, he's been having a feeling of a secret love. With their past hookups leading to now, Arnold has been feeling a way he hasn't felt in such a long time… Love. Tonight, the sparks soon fly into the fuel and start igniting the fire.
"Spinelli… There's something I have to say… And… It's rather a little personal." Arnold started. "There's something I also have to say…" Spinelli replied.
The sex died down, and romance was now in the atmosphere.
Arnold and Spinelli weren't thinking about sex anymore, but rather… of romance.
They looked at each other's hands coming closer and closer to one another. Their hands soon joined and they held hands. Their eyes locked onto each other, and they stared at each other, feeling a surge of love.
"Spinelli, I… I…"
"Yes, Arnold…?"
Arnold then hung his head. "Can we maybe save this for another time? I'm feeling guilty knowing we have a funeral to go to, and we're over having sex like that's all we know… I don't want to be a buzzkill but I'm sorry, Spinelli. I know you wanted to have some fun, but I think it'll have to wait…"
Spinelli lifted his chin and stroked his hair. "No worries, Arnold. In truth, I felt the same way but I honestly didn't want to say anything…"
"Tell ya what? We get some rest now, and do all the preparations for the funeral. The blue uniforms, the Fire Department badges, and covering the trucks with black bunting. Honor our Captain for letting us see another day…" Arnold smiled as a tear slipped from his face.
Spinelli nodded. "It's the only right way to honor our Captain. I feel like a douche doing this the day before his funeral…"
"Prepare for those twenty bells. Welcoming home a firefighter who worked his final call while battling cancer. Welcome home, Cap." Arnold emotionally said. Spinelli agreed as a tear slipped down her face.
Arnold wiped the tear from her face. "Let's get some rest now." She agreed.
The Next Morning
Almost everyone in the Fire House was asleep, except the two love birds.
They were polishing the Fire Department badges and putting a black stripe on every one of them, honoring Captain McShay. Spinelli was working on the blue uniforms while Arnold covered the trucks with black bunting. He covered the siren lights and the front as well. Arnold teared up while covering the trucks, as it reminded him of his wife's funeral.
All of the sirens were covered, and the trucks were almost done being decorated. The extra decorations would be added on at the funeral once the casket was loaded onto the Engine.
Arnold soon noticed Travis, just standing there, mostly with tears building up in his eyes. The trucks reminded him of his husband's funeral. He died in the line of duty. Arnold gingerly hopped down from the Ladder truck.
"Time to ring those bells, huh?" Arnold soon started as he wiped a few tears from his face. Travis nodded. "Yup… Never gets easy doing this. Nice touch of adding the Fire Department flag logo."
Arnold only nodded as he patted Travis' shoulder.
Everyone was now waking up, they were all mostly depressed since they had to attend their Captain's funeral.
Spinelli soon walked up to Arnold and handed him his uniform. She only nodded. Arnold could already hear the words being said at any firefighter's funeral.
McShay's daughter had been away for some time since she was coping with the death of her father. She was a bright, smart, dark-haired, and young woman who wanted to be a firefighter all her life.
Almost everyone didn't say a word as some of them were even brought to tears.
After ten minutes had passed, everyone was all dressed for the funeral.
"Here, just let me." Spinelli helped Arnold with his tie as the tears fell from his face. "Thanks." She only nodded.
"It's time, guys." Warren called them over.
Later
The trucks were all fired up, and the sirens were on, but they barely reflected and were barely visible. The Ladder truck took off first, and the Engine followed behind.
Arnold looked out the Ladder truck's window, and only looked at the cloudy sky. They all knew it was time to welcome home Captain McShay, and ring the bells. Spinelli hung her arm out the window of Engine's window as she more or less just felt depressed.
Firefighter funerals hurt more than anything. It was a brotherhood and sisterhood. Bonds forged by fire and trust, and it was difficult when it came to saying goodbye to one of their own.
