Later
"We're here!"
"Where are we at?" Spinelli was bored out of her mind and had decided to reapply her lipstick. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Spinelli saw Arnold with a flirty smirk. Arnold then had a hand on Spinelli's chin and soon kissed her.
"I see why you were looking at me like that…" Spinelli smirked. "Now you better stop before I get you embarrassed with a stain of lipstick on your cheek." Spinelli playfully had a finger on his nose. "So where are we? You haven't answered my question."
"Chez Paris. A fancy restaurant I've known since I was a kid. It has some of the best food you'll ever taste!"
"Hm. Well, I'm curious to see how it really is." Spinelli looked over.
Back at The Crash Site
"That's one deceased and a critically injured man. Both were high on drugs. And I thought working the night shift would be boring." Travis mentioned. "What seems weirder to me, is seeing both Arnold AND Spinelli here, all fancy dressed and stuff. Think that means anything?" Donovan asked.
"Either they're on a date, heading to a family reunion, or maybe a party." Travis replied as he closed the truck doors, they were taking the deceased patient. "I always thought something could be going on between them since I do see them together a lot, but what do you think?"
"Don, I don't know what could be going on between those two, but whatever is, I'm happy for them no matter what. I don't care whether they're dating, or married and happily ever after, that won't change the fact that I'm happy for them. So overall, whether they're dating or whatnot, I'm happy for them."
"I guess you have a point there. After all, Gerald said Arnold is a bold man. Nobody ever had the guts to ask out Spinelli, let alone try and show love."
"I guess those two have quite a deep connection." Travis replied as the two entered the ambulance.
Back at Chez Paris
Spinelli was clenching Arnold's collar as the two were kissing.
They soon separated.
"Spinelli, have I told you how beautiful your hair looks right now?" Arnold held Spinelli's hand. "Not yet, but I'd love to hear more."
"I never knew red lipstick looked good on you."
"I don't apply much or else it ruins me." Arnold reached over and caressed Spinelli's cheek. "I said it once and I'll say it again. Spinelli, you're extremely beautiful in your own unique way, and I love you for it."
Spinelli was too distracted by Arnold's loving compliments, she didn't notice him saying he loved her.
"I never knew anyone would notice my way of beauty." Spinelli giggled. "Well, I notice it, and I love it." The two reached over to kiss each other.
"Here is your red wine and mozzarella cheese sticks.." The waiter brought the two their wine and cheese sticks. "Are we ready to order?"
"Maybe an extra five minutes, please?"
"Very well."
"Hey, Arnold. You got any recommendations or suggestions?" Spinelli looked at Arnold. "Actually, I had ravioli and lasagna in mind, along with maybe prime ribs."
"That sounds great! And the sooner we order, the better! I'm freakin' starving! Especially after dealing with that crash site!"
"Your hands are pretty soft. I never realized that." Arnold mentioned. "Oh, really? Why I never knew you'd notice." Spinelli blushed. Arnold then kissed her hand. "Delicate Princess." Arnold smirked. "Arnold!" Spinelli's blush grew as she wasn't that used to being called Princess.
"Hey, Arnold. I wanted to quickly ask. Should we get a house pet? I know we have enough work with us being firefighters and having to raise Andrea but… What do you think?"
"You know, I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not too sure. Phoebe does enough for us in looking after Andy while we're away on shift, so I feel like we'd just be abusing of her friendship 'cause we wanted to get a dog." Arnold started. "Look, Spinelli, as much as you, I do want a pet, but I feel like we'll have to think about it, ok?"
"Alright…" Spinelli gave a disappointed look. "Aw, Spinelli… I fully support you in getting a pet, but we'll talk to Phoebe and see what she says. Alright?" She nodded. Arnold smiled and kissed her hand once more.
Later
"Isn't it crazy how we've known each other ever since the Fire Academy?" Spinelli started. "Ah, man. Those early days were something. I remember how you transferred from that musty station, barely in your rookie year." Arnold laughed.
"You'd transfer in your rookie year if you were at Station Sixteen! The toilets half the time were clogged, and the showers smelled like piss!"
"I know, I know. But I'm also glad you're at Fifty-Five, 'cause otherwise, I'm not sure we'd be here on a date right now." Arnold replied. "With a deep and special connection?"
"And sharing the same problems."
"Along with raising a kid together?"
"Along with maybe having a pet soon."
"And not to mention the fact we love fooling around together." Spinelli finished. The two looked at each other in the eye. They were soon holding hands, and came closer and closer…
Their lips soon touched and they started to kiss as if they didn't want to separate. They both felt their hearts skip a beat as they kissed.
After their kiss, Spinelli had a hand on Arnold's face as she gave a slow kiss on his cheek. After that, she gave another quick kiss on his cheek. She saw Arnold blushing.
"I'd recommend looking in a mirror." Spinelli smirked. "What'd you do…?"
"I may have left a little stain on your cheek, but don't worry, it's not that noticeable for the most part."
"I hate you…" Arnold chuckled a little. "And by hate, you love me." Spinelli kept smirking. "If I don't yank you across this table and kiss you on the lips, it's 'cause it'll be for later."
"Quite the romantic gesture." Spinelli said with her smirk.
"Here is the ravioli, double lasagna with prime ribs." The waiter soon came with their order.
"Sweet!"
"Enjoy your dinner." The waiter walked away.
Arnold held up a piece of Ravioli. "Care to try it?" He had an encouraging smile. "Well, alright."
Spinelli soon took a bite of the ravioli from his hand. "Don't take this from my mouth like you did with that pizza last night!" Arnold only laughed. "So, any thoughts?"
Spinelli swallowed the ravioli. "Arnold… This is the best! How come you've never taken me out on a date to this place earlier? This is the best!"
"Well, let's leave that question for another time but uh, I'm glad you love it!"
At Station Fifty-Five
Travis and Donovan had just gotten back from dropping off the deceased patient.
"Man… Wonder whether there'll be another call." Donovan wondered.
Coincidentally enough, the Station alarm went off.
"First alarm, please respond. Engine Fifty-Five, Ladder Fifty-Five, Aid Car Fifty-Five. Structure Fire at Northgate Penn. Ave."
"You had to open that fat mouth of yours!" Travis replied as they immediately began suiting up.
After a minute, everyone was in the trucks and began to roll off.
Later, as they were en route towards a neighborhood, Donovan was still wondering about earlier.
"Yo, Travis. I can't help but think about Arnold and Spinelli. I'm not wanting to sound jealous or anything, but is there something going on between them?"
"Well, I can't say for certain, but if there is, I'm happy for them. I mean, their close connection is so noticeable so it's hard not to say whether they are dating or what."
"Guys, get ready. Multiple reports saying we have entrapment inside, no count yet." The Captain said. "Got ya, Cap!"
Multiple firefighters were getting their breathing equipment on with reports of people trapped inside.
Meanwhile
"Mwah!" Arnold and Spinelli couldn't help themselves as they shared another kiss. They even nuzzled their noses together.
"Arnold, this is the best date I could've asked for! I know you may see me as this tough girl and all that-"
"But I see past that side of you. You have so many things that make you beautiful, Spinelli. I don't give a shit what anyone says about you, all I care about is what I think, and I think you're more than beautiful and gorgeous." Arnold smiled. Spinelli also smiled. "You're seriously too kind, Arnold. And more than kind, an outstanding person, and that's what I love you for, you're so compassionate."
Arnold and Spinelli smiled at each other.
"Your check." The waiter brought over the check.
Spinelli looked at it and went wide-eyed. "Two hundred dollars and seventy-two cents?!"
"Mere pocket change. Literally a hundred bucks for the wine and the rest is from our dinner."
"Oh, that's right. Kind of forgot you still have some money despite getting… Well, you know."
"Yeah, yeah… Now, c'mon. Let's eat this Chocolate cake." Arnold smirked. "Why are you looking at me like that now?"
Arnold soon held up a spoonful of cake. "You cheeky little…" Spinelli smiled. She then took a bite of the cake.
"So?" Arnold looked at her. "Man! This tastes so chocolatey and sweet!". Spinelli replied as she swallowed the bit of cake. "So Spinelli, care to take a walk after this? I have a little something I'd like to show you."
"Really? What could it be?"
"It's something I always did with Rhonda, every time after a date. I remember how much she loved it… I even remember the final time I took her there… It was a night to remember." Arnold fought back his tears. "Care to tell me when was your last kiss with her?" Spinelli asked curiously.
"It was during the morning. You also remember, in the afternoon we had that four or five alarm." Spinelli nodded. "And shortly after that fire… you should remember the rest…"
"I even remember being by your side during the memorial." Spinelli added. "And Arnold, I'm so sorry you lost her…"
"Don't be. 'Cause I have you now, you remind me so much of her." Spinelli blushed.
Arnold remembered what his mother said, 'follow your heart'. Arnold also remembered to just love her, and he decided to go with it. He'd take it one step at a time.
Spinelli remembered what Stella told her, 'Win his heart'. And she wanted to win Arnold's heart. Spinelli felt more than just a 'deep connection', Spinelli felt a deep love for Arnold. Arnold has done countless things to help and support Spinelli, and she wanted to take things to the next level.
"Let's finish up this chocolate cake, I'm curious what you have in mind." Spinelli smiled. Arnold also smiled.
At Northgate Ave
Fire hoses and two ladder trucks were spraying down the house as several search and rescue units were inside.
Most of the family were already rescued and taken outside, only the house pet was left.
"We're coming out!"
"Copy that, Twenty-Three."
Most units were outside as the two members of Twenty-Three came outside with the family's Labrador. The front entrance of the house would collapse shortly after the two members came out.
"Alright, we're on defense! Surround and drown, nobody goes back inside!"
"Great job, you guys." Gerald patted Matt's shoulder. "Thanks…" He gasped for air. "Good job, Twenty-Three." Their Captain said.
"Those guys are missin' out!" Travis said as he was seated on the front bumper of his Engine company with Vic. "Those two are lucky… And Spinelli is one lucky woman."
"That she's going out with Arnold? Oh, totally." Travis replied. "I wonder where they were headed, though…"
"Eh, who knows, but Spinelli is one lucky woman…" Vic answered as she put her helmet back on. "Cap! Where do you need me?" She asked as she walked away.
While all that was happening, Arnold and Spinelli were soon walking along together, in the park where Arnold always used to go.
"So this is the park you went to before?" Spinelli looked around. "Used to. I hadn't gone here since Rhonda passed away. But I think I have a reason to come back here."
The two then stopped at a bridge overlooking the water.
"Really?"
"Indeed I do." Arnold smiled. "Man… This is a beautiful sight."
"But there's nothing as beautiful as you." Arnold smiled at Spinelli. "You're so flattering." She smiled back.
Arnold turned around and faced Spinelli, he then held her hand. "I wanted you to come here 'cause there's something special about this place…" Spinelli turned around. "And… what's that?"
"This." Arnold had a hand behind her ear and started to kiss Spinelli. She had her other hand on his shoulder as she kissed him back.
After a couple minutes, the two had separated, and found a thin line of saliva connecting them. Arnold and Spinelli chuckled as they nuzzled their noses together. Arnold kissed Spinelli's nose after.
They hugged afterward.
"I love you." Arnold and Spinelli both said it at the same time but didn't hear each other.
"Wanna head home? I think I'd love to have a little fun with you before our shift tomorrow." Arnold smirked. "About time you bring up some fun." Spinelli smirked back.
The two soon linked arms as they headed back towards the entrance of the park, where the pickup was parked.
Two long chapters today! Anyways, next chapter we'll be heading back to the Station!
