Cleaning Break 6 - (League of Legends Gameverse, Janitor!MC)
Warning: Jim gets the chance to play Halo Wars. The end results are... concerning.
It's been two days since I had to deal with a random invasion of the Ruination kind.
Luckily for me, I found the cause in Kalista's room, which I promptly saw 'punished' by rearranging the order of the furniture by... having everything put upside down. A punishment, but not the worst punishment. I wanted to exert dominance for being put in a bad situation, and I didn't need to piss off the bitch any furthe.r
I already sicced Jinx after myself with the latest talk I had with the champion so... that was going to be a situation for future me to deal.
Still, these two days had been relatively peaceful as they gave me the chance to
"So, Halial."
Yes, Temporary Agent Jim?
"What the fuck am I looking at?"
I will be honest, I don't know at the moment.
The sight I was given was indeed unlike the first 'Tower Defense' stage I had to deal with. Most of the map was covered in snow, with purple thorny vines wrapped around most of the path up ahead. Not only that, but I could see a large barrier covering what seemed to be the source of the vines and... it was being powered by eight orbs in the distance.
I had a growing feeling this wasn't going to be a defense mission. Especially when I saw the screen of the Tactical Screen flash and show a particular symbol... that was from another game.
That's the emblem of the UNSC from Halo.
Do you prefer the good news or the bad news, Temporary Agent Jim?
I blinked at Halial's sudden comment, preceding my own question, but I was quick to answer this one. "Good first."
To handle the current threat in front of you, I am currently giving you a system akin to something called 'Halo Wars'. Your task is not to just defend, but also secure the eight orbs and use dropships to bring those back to base once you secured their proximity.
"And, once I am done with that-"
The source of the corruption will be exposed. I am still unsure on what is causing this phenomenon, so I suggest be careful during the 'first contact' experience.
"Duly noted."
I was a bit surprised by this turn of events, but it was deeply hilarious to see the minions manning several vehicles from Halo. It was solely UNSC stuff, and I was surprised to find that the unique upgrades for all faction leaders were available to me.
It sounded like overkill but... I was soon finding out what the problem was. Right as the two Warthogs I sent as scouts started to move and check what we were dealing with, I saw some plants shifting around and start shooting at the vehicles. One got blown up from the explosive barrage, but the other one managed to make it back to base.
So, the plants were possibly harnessing a mix of 'anti-tank' and 'anti-air' turrets rather than proper units. This was somewhat good as it meant that the assault force may be limited enough to not worry much about having a considerable force guarding for any surprises.
With the first line of plants being armed to handle ground vehicles, I prepped a small air-depot to get some 'birdies' out.
The sight of several minions-manned Hornets swarming forward to the position where the veggie turrets were found was heart-warming, the carnage they caused quite reassuring as I had them moved back to base to establish a solid attack force to break into the first sphere's containment.
A bunch of Warthog Gauss variants and several Hornets were soon slamming through the first defensive area, and had it cleared in a few minutes.
Once all entries were secured, I sent a Pelican dropship to rush over the zone and secure the orb. It was soon stored away and I saw the large object up close. It felt less like a solid orb and more like a... container. A bubble?
I decided against checking it just yet, focusing on getting the other seven. And the process was surprisingly... simple? No, the right word would be 'streamlined' in a single thought (gauge hostile defense, create a fitting breakthrough force, smash the oppositions and then secure the package).
This didn't mean that I was given an easy time as the plants were getting more aggressive and causing me to improve the strike force with new units. The Warthogs were phased out for Grizzly Heavy Tanks, the Hornets were replaced by their upgrade 'Sparrowhawks' and Vultures gunships, and then I added some Cobra Tanks to act as Self-propelled guns to destroy any obstruction between the force and its other targets.
It was a rather intense but distracting hour, one that was made as long due to two small swarming assaults to the base that were put down by flamethrowers and defensive turrets. By the time the eighth sphere was removed from its position, the barrier had started to falter and now was semi-transparent. We were close to have it removed but... it wasn't vanishing.
It seems like it is sustaining itself. Alas, I... I don't think you have the proper firepower to deal with the barrier.
"Oh, I think I do, Halial. There's an ability I can use just now~."
Temporary Agent Jim, I hardly think this is the time of joking but- wait, you are not joking?
"Nope. Brace yourself for the Ortillery."
...Temporary Agent Jim, I think you meant to say Arti-
Before Halial could finish that sentence, a bright flash of light caught the entire arena right as a large ball of fire rapidly descended from the sky, slammed through the barrier and detonated upon impacting with the source of the corrupted vines.
The massive explosions seeing me nodding giddily at the perfect results of a well-aimed Orbital Strike from a Magnetic Accelerator Cannon (MAC) system.
Oh! I had forgotten about the Orbital Strike ability. Yes, it makes sense it would be enough and... yes, my system confirms that the threat has been neutralized. The vines are dying as we speak- another good job, Temporary Agent Jim!
I sighed. "You really can't bring yourself to call me just 'Jim'?"
I am afraid not, Temporary Agent Jim.
Oh well, I tried.
Still, I noticed the orbs were remaining as I walked towards one of those. The minions had been studying those from afar too, clearly as curious and confused as I was.
"By the way, Halial, what... are those?"
While they have been used by batteries, I think these energy cocoons contain living beings. Their pattern is familiar so I suggest to-
Right as she was saying this, I decided to bravely poke at the closest of the spheres and it... it kind of burst at my touch. The ones contained inside were soon released, with the strangely familiar lupine white-furred creature doing flips in the air and celebrating his newfound freedom giving me some odd vibes but- I was busy having a sudden close up with a familiar face.
Except her form was 'different'. Very different as she looked mostly human in this version of herself.
"L-Lamb?!" I exclaimed in panic, surprised in being face to face with the plum-haired red-haired version of Kindred from...
POP! POP! POP! POP! POP! POP! POP!
Spirit Blossom.
...All eight AU Champions were here from SB and...
"How- How do you know my name?" SB!Lamb asked with a hint of curiosity, tilting her head cutely. "Are you a... friend?"
She then sniffed me and smiled.
"You smell like one~!"
"Or like a prey," SB!Wolf then exclaimed as his manifested right beside his (maybe-less-literal) other half.
"H-Halial?"
I have no clue, Temporary Agent Jim.
I doubt anyone really had a fucking clue at this point.
AN
Champions! And yet... not? The situation behind this particular corruption will soon be explained by next chapter as it will be a... SB!Lamb's POV!
