Chapter 2: Becoming a Hero
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. Wow, this story has really gotten off to a good start. You guys really inspired me to get this next chapter out. I needed to do this before I officially started the Spectacular series. I hope you like what I have planned. Please Review and Enjoy.
We find ourselves at Jaden's house, as a car pulled up in front of it and from it, a teenage boy with brown hair and a man with brown hair and suit stepped out. These were Norman Osborn and his son Harry Osborn.
"Hey Harry." A female voice said getting his attention.
Looking down the street he saw a girl with blonde hair in a hair clip and glasses. This was Gwen Stacy.
"Hey Gwen, you here to see Jaden too?" Harry asks.
"Yeah, poor guy." Gwen frowns as Norman walks up to the door and knocks on it.
When it opens Maya was on the other side.
"Oh Mr. Osborn?" Maya said as Norman held out some flowers.
"We are so sorry for your loss Mrs. Cooper. Harry told me everything and we came straight over." Norman frowns.
"Thank you." Maya said taking them. "Would you all like to come in?"
Opening the door, the three of them walk in.
"How are you holding up?" Harry asks.
"I'll be fine. Jaden however is not handling it so well." Maya sighs.
"Where's Jaden?" Gwen asks looking around.
"In his room, he hardly ever leaves it." Maya admits.
"I don't blame him. Losing a parent at such a young age is something no one should ever feel." Norman said.
"Mind if we go talk to him?" Gwen asks.
"Go ahead." Maya nods as Gwen and Harry walked up the stairs.
"Hello Jay? Jaden you in there?" Harry asks knocking on the door but got no response.
Slowly opening the door, they saw sitting on his bed looking down at a picture of him and his dad.
"Jaden?" Gwen calls out getting his attention.
"Gwen, Harry when did you guys get here?" Jaden asks wiping the tears from his face.
"Just now." Gwen frowns seeing the hurt look on his face.
"Hey man I'm sorry. I know you and your dad were close." Harry said.
"It's all my fault. I told him where to meet me and he got hurt." Jaden said.
"Jaden you can't blame yourself." Gwen said as they sat down next to him. "You couldn't have known this was gonna happen."
'No I didn't and dad paid the price for it.' Jaden thought.
"Look man I know it hurts but you'll get through this. After all you still got your mom." Harry said.
"And you got us." Gwen adds causing Jaden to smile softly.
"Thanks guys." Jaden said hugging them when Harry sniffs him.
"Phew, dude when the last time you put on deodorant?" Harry smirks.
"Hey!" Jaden snaps causing Gwen to giggle.
"There's the Jaden we know and love." Gwen smiles.
Downstairs, Norman was sitting down as Maya poured him some water.
"Are you and Jaden gonna be okay?" Norman asks.
"Oh we'll get by." Maya said when she noticed Jaden, Gwen and Harry walking down. "Hey look who's out of bed."
"Hey Mom, hey Mr. Osborn." Jaden said.
"Jaden, you're up." Norman said.
"Thanks for coming." Jaden said as Norman walks over to him.
"Listen Jaden, if you ever find yourself needing help just know that you are always allowed to visit me and Harry." Norman said.
"Thanks Mr. Osborn I appreciate it." Jaden said.
"Any chance you three can stay for dinner?" Maya asks.
"As much as I would love to take you up on that offer Maya I can't. Harry and I have to get ready for our summer business trip." Norman said.
"Oh joy." Harry frowns before turning to Jaden. "Call me, video chat, do anything you can while I'm gone or I'm gonna die of boredom." Harry begs.
"Sure thing Harry." Jaden nods.
"You're the best Jaden." Harry said as he walked out.
"Oh and Jaden." Norman said getting his attention. "You're the man of the house now."
"Yeah I guess I am." Jaden said as they left.
"Is that dinner invite still available?" Gwen asks.
"Absolutely." Maya nods.
As the sun sets, the three of them were sitting down to spaghetti and meatballs.
"Mmm man I hope the food at Science Camp is as good as this." Gwen said eating.
"Sorry Gwen but no one cooks better than my mom." Jaden said
"I wish you were coming with me. You and I make an awesome team." Gwen said.
"I appreciate it Gwen, but this summer I'm just gonna use this time to adjust." Jaden said.
Reaching out Gwen put a hand on his shoulder. "Hey you'll be fine Jaden. I know you will."
"Thanks Gwen. I don't what I'd do if I didn't have you and Harry." Jaden said.
"You'd need to find someone else to get Flash Thompson off your back." Gwen giggles.
"Hey!" Jaden said as she and Maya laughed.
"Well as delicious as this was. I gotta get home. You know my dad; Police Captain George Stacy is really strict with the curfew." Gwen said.
"No problem." Jaden said.
"Tell him we said hi." Maya said.
"Will do." Gwen said walking out.
"Uh Mom I'm gonna go for a little walk. Clear my head." Jaden said getting up.
"Don't be out too late and try to stay out of trouble." Maya said as Jaden went up to his room to get something.
"I'll try mom." Jaden said.
That night, on the streets of New York the civilians went about their daily lives.
Up on the rooftop, Jaden was holding a red and blue suit with black web patterns on it.
"With great power comes great responsibility." Jaden said reciting his father's words.
Suddenly he heard a loud alarm going off below.
Looking down Jaden saw a bank robbery going on causing a serious expression to appear on his face.
In the bank, 5 criminals had the place held up as civilians were on the ground.
"Alright put the money in the bags and no one gets hurt!" One said as the workers started grabbing money.
"And don't even think about giving us the ones with the dye packs, we're onto you!" Another said when suddenly two webs flew in and yanked the two robbers by the door outside causing them to scream.
"What was that?" One said when suddenly something swung in and kicked him to the ground.
Everyone looked to see landing in front of them was Jaden wearing the suit. "Hang on everyone, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is here!" (Google Spider-Man Earth-26496 suit)
"Who are you supposed to be?" One asks.
"Seriously? I just said my name. Don't you people ever listen?" Spider-Man asks as they started shooting at him forcing him to jump out of the way.
"Squash that bug!" The leader said as one grabbed a crowbar and charged.
"Oh mama." Spider-Man said dodging the attacks before punching the robber in the gut and then kicking him in the face.
Holding up his web shooters he fires trapping him to the ground.
As the last two aimed their guns at him Spider-Man jumps around and dodges the attack before firing a web at them but hits the table behind them.
"Ha missed!"
"Did I?" Spider-Man asks pulling the web making the table smash into both criminals.
When the cops pulled up they looked to see all 5 criminals hanging from a web atop a light post.
"What happened here?" A cop said.
From above Spider-Man looked down at them before firing a web and swinging away when someone tried to take a picture of him but only got a small image of him.
At the cemetery, Spider-Man walked up to a gravestone that was labeled Ryan Cooper.
"Hey dad, it's me. Yeah I know the suit isn't something you thought you'd see me in, but I just wanted to say thanks for everything and I will never forget what you've told me. I plan to use these powers to the best of my ability and help people. Become a great hero and don't worry I still plan to do good in school and I've got Gwen and Harry with me so mom and I will be fine." Walking up to the grave Spider-Man put a flower beside it.
"I love you dad and I always will." Spider-Man said before firing a web and swinging away.
In Gotham City, Bruce Wayne was in the Bat Cave when Alfred walked in to see him staring at an online newspaper article.
"What has you so interested in a local paper, Master Wayne?" Alfred asks.
"It has something that Flash told me to keep my eye out for." Bruce said.
"I doubt J. Jonah Jameson has any worthwhile wisdom that can help the Batman." Alfred said.
"Not him, but this." Batman said as he pressed a button and the article appeared.
"Who is Spider-Man?" Alfred read.
"Web-slinging and wall-crawling just like what Flash said." Bruce said.
"Think the young lad might prove useful to you someday?" Alfred asks.
"Only time will tell Alfred." Bruce said looking at the small image of Spider-Man swinging away. "In the meantime maybe I should keep my eye on New York."
