Chapter 7: Secret Origins

We find ourselves at Dr. Conners lab as Jaden and Gwen were walking to the entrance.
"So I tried tons of jobs but they all turned me down. Man getting your first job is hard." Jaden sighs.
"Well in the meantime it's nice to have you back at the lab. Sorry the whole photos of Spider-Man thing didn't work out." Gwen said.
"It's fine. Besides If I had that I wouldn't be able to hang out with you at the lab." Jaden smiles.
"Right back at you." Gwen smiles as they enter the lab.
"Hey there he is." Eddy smiles waving at them.
"Hey Eddy what's up?" Jaden smiles.
"Brace yourself dude you're in for it today." Eddy said.
"What do you mean?" Jaden asks confused.
"Jaden!" Looking to Dr. Conner's office Jaden saw Billy run out but he was now wearing clothes almost identical to Jaden's.
"Billy, whoa what's with the new outfit?" Jaden asks surprised.
"Check it out Jaden, I look just like you." Billy smiles.
"Jaden good to see you're back." Martha said walking out.
"Hi Mrs. Conners uh what's this?" Jaden asks.
"Well after you saved my husband and my son you sort of became Billy's idol." Martha giggles.
"Which I'm a little jealous because that used to be my job." Kurt said walking in.
"Hi Dr. Conners, how you feeling?" Jaden asks.
"Much better, happy to have you back." Kurt smiles.
"Good to be back." Jaden smiles.
As the day went by and the sun was going down no one noticed a shadowy figure sneak into the lab.
Nearby Jaden was organizing some stuff with Gwen.
"Hey uh Jaden you know the dance is coming up." Gwen said.
"Yeah, hey has anyone asked you to the dance yet?" Jaden asks.
"Not yet, I'm hoping someone will ask me soon." Gwen said.
"Harry and I are struggling to find dates, but to be honest I don't know if I want to go." Jaden said.
"I get it, but what if we went together? You know as friends." Gwen offered.
"You'd really settle for going with boring old me?" Jaden smiles.
"It's a tough burden but call it being loyal to my friends." Gwen giggles.
"Gwen Stacey you are something else." Jaden said when his phone rang. "Uh hang on. Hello?"
"Suit up and meet me outside on the roof, we need to talk. Now." A familiar voice said causing his eyes to widen.
"What's wrong?" Gwen asks.
"Gwen I gotta go." Jaden said grabbing his bag.
"Jaden what's going on?" Gwen asks concerned.
"I don't know but someone wants to talk to me right now." Jaden said.
"You mean like an interview?" Gwen asks.
"Something like that. Can you explain this to everyone for me?" Jaden asks.
"I don't know, it'll cost you." Gwen said.
"What do you want?" Jaden asks.
"Ice cream, double scoops." Gwen said using her fingers to emphasize.
"You drive a hard bargain Gwen Stacey but you got a deal. Wish me luck." Jaden smiles.
"You don't need it. Now get going." Gwen urged as Jaden was about to run out when he turns back to her.
"Thank you." Leaning in Jaden pecks Gwen on the cheek causing her eyes to widen in shock as Jaden ran out.
Blushing Gwen reaches a hand to her cheek and adjusts her glasses.
"Wow Jaden." Gwen said fixing herself.
Outside, Spider-Man jumps up onto the roof.
"Alright Bats, where are you?" Spider-Man asks when from the shadows Batman emerges startling him. "Whoa, geez can't you put a bell on or something? What's going on?"
"Something is going down, something big and I need someone sneaky." Batman said.
"Who me? Wow, I don't believe it, I actually get to work with you?" Spider-Man asks. "Wow and I was your first choice?"
"Actually you were my fourth." Batman said.
"Aw really?" Spider-Man groans.
"Time is of the essence are you in or out?" Batman asks.
"I don't know can't I just be a Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man?" Spider-Man asks.
"Not if there's no neighborhood left to protect." Batman glares causing Spidey's eyes to widen.
"It's that big?" Spider-Man asks.
"I don't know what to expect so I need an extra set of eyes." Batman said.
"Okay, I'm in." Spider-Man said.
"Good." Batman said as both heroes left.
Meanwhile in Metropolis, a news story was beginning.
"Good evening. This is Snapper Carr. It's been six months since Senator J. Allen Carter's dramatic disarmament plan was ratified. While Superman has been disarming hundreds of deadly warheads public support for the plan has swelled." Carr said as the video changed to a group of people.
"Superman Rocks!" One guy said as the others cheer in support.
"Yet some remain skeptical." Carr said as we cut to an interview with the Flash.
"Hey, the big guy's hearts in the right place, but give me a break. I'm the fastest man alive and even I can't be in 5 places at once." Flash said.
"Still, with more missiles being dismantled every day most of us will sleep better knowing that Superman is watching over us." Carr said as the TV was turned off revealing Clark Kent as he was going to bed.
However, the second he closed his eyes, Clark was bombarded by strange images in his head causing him to groan in pain before waking up panting heavily wondering what it all meant.
Meanwhile across town in Star Labs, Batman enters through the roof with Spider-Man lowering himself down behind him on the phone.
"No Mom, I'm just spending the night with a friend. I promise I'll see you soon, yes, I'll pick some eggs on my way home. l love you. Bye." Spider-Man said hanging up.
"Really? You had to call your mother" Batman raises an eyebrow.
"You try being a hero with a curfew. Thank god it's a Friday." Spider-Man said when Batman shushes him.
"No more talking." Batman said as he looked around and found some strange device on the table.
Suddenly they heard a noise. Walking to the edge they saw the three scientist Batman had encountered earlier.
"Who are they?" Spider-Man asks.
"They are the reason I had to call you for backup." Batman said as the scientists spoke in some strange language before turning everything off and leaving.
Making their way down to the office the two of them opened the door and look in shock to see the three scientists in strange pods.
"Holy crap. What the heck is this?" Spider-Man asks horrified.
"Hold this." Batman gives him the flashlight as he took out a Bataraang and cut one out.
"Is he dead?" Spider-Man asks worried as Batman checked his pulse.
"No, he's alive." Batman said as the scientist groans when Spider-Man's spidey sense went off.
"Uh oh we got trouble." Spider-Man turns the flashlight down the hall to reveal a growling dog coming towards them.
Barking loudly the dog charges at them knocking Batman to the ground.
As it tired to bite him Spider-Man fires a web wrapping around his mouth.
"Bad dog! Bad dog! Heel!" Spider-Man yells trying to yank him away giving Batman the opening to kick the dog sending it smashing into the desk.
Shaking it off the dog recovers and charges but the two heroes leap up onto the pipes avoiding it.
"Down, sit stay." Spider-Man orders when the dog started crawling up the walls towards them. "Whoa what kind of dog does this?"
As it got closer the dog changed shape revealing it to be some sort of amorphous beast with white and black skin.
"That's no dog." Batman said as it tackled them both knocking them to the ground.
Snarling at them the monster dog attacks but both heroes roll out of the way.
Going after Spider-Man it swings its paw knocking him to the ground before going after Batman.
He tries to block and dodge his swipes but the alien knocks Batman into a shelf making it break.
As both heroes struggled to get up they saw the alien dog attacks when Spider-Man fires two webs that wrapped around it stopping it in its tracks.
The alien struggles to escape but Spider-Man wouldn't let go.
"Batman quick!" Spider-Man yells trying to hold it in place.
Grabbing a batarrang Batman threw it at them some steel girders cutting the ropes making it come down on the beast crushing it while Spider-Man leaps out of the way and falls down next to him.
"Not gonna like Batman I kinda regret picking up the phone when you called." Spider-Man pants.
"This is bigger than just the two of us now." Batman groans taking out the signal watch.
Across town, Clark was washing his face when he suddenly heard the signal watch beeping.
In seconds Superman was flying to the site and entering the crashed building.
"Batman?" Superman said as Spider-Man helped the injured hero up.
"Took you long enough." Batman said.
"Whoa, you're Superman. Oh wow, it is such an honor. I'm Spider-Man." Spider-Man said about to shake his hand but briefly lets go of Batman making him fumble before Spider-Man caught him.
"Well you're new. Took a break from birds and switched to bugs huh?" Superman asks.
"We can save this for another time." Batman said when something fell from the sky and crashed to the ground.
"Agreed, you take Batman down to safety. I'll be right back." Superman said flying away.
Firing a web, Spider-Man lowered them down.
"So what am I? Am I your new sidekick or what?" Spider-Man asks.
"Right now you're help." Batman said.
"That's it? Not even an ally?" Spider-Man asks.
"You haven't earned that title yet." Batman said.
"So what I'm hearing is, I can earn it." Spider-Man said as Batman rolls his eyes.
At the crash site, firefighters had come to put out the flames while soldiers were keeping the people away from it.
"Look at the size of that thing." One soldier said.
"Stay back it's still hot." Another said as the meteor began to steam and something clawed out of it.
As it was about to come down Superman flies in and yanks them out of the way.
From the wreckage, Superman sees a giant Imperium Walker come out.
Standing high above everyone a red beam was fired from the head blasting a hole in the building.
Putting the soliders down, Superman flies in for an attack but the Walker fires another beam blasting him into the ground.
Raising its claws it comes down on vehciles crushing everything in its path as it fired its beam attacks everywhere.
Nearby Spider-Man and Batman look up.
"Oh man how are we gonna deal with this?" Spider-Man asks when the Batjet flies in above them.
"We need to slow it down." Batman said.
"I got an idea." Spider-Man said getting his attention. "You ever see the movie Empire Strikes Back?"
"Really?" Batman said annoyed.
"Trust me, I think it'll work." Spider-Man said.
"I must be out of my mind." Batman said.
Flying in towards the Walker, Batman fired some missles getting its attention.
As the IWalker turn to him Spider-Man leaps off the hood and fires a web swinging around and around.
Nearby Superman looks to see Spider-Man tying up the creatures legs with each loop until it began to wobble.
Seeing an opening Superman flies in and nails the walker with a powerful punch sending it flying.
"Whoa!" Spider-Man yells before the Batjet flew in and he smacked against the windshield to see Batman glaring at him. "Told you it would work."
Opening the hatch, Batman lets him crawl into the back seat.
"What? No you were right or good job Spidey I'm sorry I doubted you." Spider-Man asks.
"How about we survive this before we start patting ourselves on the back." Batman suggests.
Flying towards it, Superman punches a hole in the walker and tries to rip open a hole but was met with a super close range beam attack sending him flying back and crashing into the rubble.
As his news van pulls up Snapper Carr runs up to Superman who is immediately hit with another set of strange images.
"Are you okay?" Snapper asks but Superman ignores him and flies off.
"Superman?" He said confused as Superman flew right past the Batjet.
"Where's he going?" Batman asks.
"The fight is that way." Spider-Man points when more military jets fly in and some tanks arrive. "What do we do?"
Narrowing his eyes, Batman turns the jet around they fly after Superman.
All over the world, Snapper Carr's news story was being played as the strange Walkers were being spotted all over the world.
Soon, Batman and Spider-Man were flying over some snowy mountains as they spotted some destroyed military equipment along the way.
"Whoa, Superman is on the war path." Spider-Man said.
"The only question is why?" Batman said.
"Well I have a few, why are you reaching out to me?" Spider-Man asks looking at Batman. "I mean I'm not exactly on the same level as you and Superman."
"Not even close" Batman said instantly.
"Geez you don't pull any punches do you?" Spider-Man cringed. "Don't you think I deserve to know why?"
"Honestly, it's a hunch." Batman states.
"That's it? You took me in because you have a hunch?" Spider-Man asks in disbelief.
"Believe whatever you want but I think you can be more than what you are. Prove to me I can take you seriously." Batman said as they landed outside a military facility.
Making their way in the two heroes see more of those strange pods they saw in the labs.
In the back they arrive to see Superman punching a giant door trying to get it open when suddenly a batarrang flew in near his hand.
"Hold it Superman!" Batman calls out getting his attention. "Destroying government property isn't your style. What's going on?"
"See for yourself." Superman rips the door open revealing a high-tech lab.
"Whoa, this is where our tax dollars end up?" Spider-Man said following in behind Batman.
Entering the back the three of them see two green skinned aliens trapped in strange devices and unconsious but one looked much older than the other
"Oh my god. Aliens." Spider-Man said blown away.
"Who are they?" Batman asks.
"Mankind's last hope." Superman said pulling the switch freeing them.
"They've been trying to reach me but that Statis field was interfering. Once they finally got through I cam right over." Superman explains.
As the older one was caught by Superman, Spider-Man caught the other one.
"Whoa you okay?" Jaden asks.
"Yeah thanks." The younger one said revealing it to be a female.
"What was that?" Spider-Man said startled.
"Telepathy, it's how they reached me." Superman said.
"Why are they here?" Batman asks.
"Invasion." The older one said surprising them. "We came to warn you but we were captured and imprisoned here."
"They wouldn't listen to a word we said." The female said as they stood up.
"Big surprise." Batman said sarcastically.
"I sense you don't trust us. Perhaps this will help." Both aliens change forms turning the man into a form with a blue cape, a red X, tights and boots while the female turned into a teenage girl around Jaden's age with short red hair, the same blue cape and red boots but she had a black outfit over her x. (Google Miss Martian DCAU version)
"I am J'onn Jonzz and this is my niece M'Gann." He said holding out a hand but Batman didn't budge.
"Don't take it personally you two. He doesn't trust anyone." Superman said.
"A wise policy." J'onn said.
"Wow uh so you two are aliens huh?" Spider-Man asks looking at them especially M'Gann. "Man Hollywood owes you two a huge apology for Mars Attack. I can't even see your brains."
"Uh thanks I guess." M'Gann said while Superman chuckles and Batman facepalms.
"I like this one, he's funny." Superman said.
"He's seen too many movies." Batman said as they made their way out.
"We'll need to contact the Joint Chiefs right away." Superman said when bright lights shined on the 5 of them.
"Hold it right there Superman! You're trespassing in a restricted area. Those freaks are not going anywhere!" The general points at the Martians.
"I'll vouch for them. You must let us go." Superman said.
"Not happening." The general said.
"But the world's security might be at stake." Superman said.
"I know that's why you'll never leave here alive." The general declares as they all changed into white and black amorphous men with guns.
"It's them!" J'onn panics.
"I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you guys aren't friends." Spider-Man said.
"You would be correct." M'Gann said as they fired at them blasting Superman into a tank while the others ran for cover.
"Stay down!" Batman said as he and J'onn hid behind one tank and Spider-Man and M'Gann ran behind another.
"Hey Batman what should we do?" Spider-Man calls out
"What we discussed. Keep your distance, web'em up." Batman orders.
"Copy!" Leaping up over the tank Spider-Man fires his webs trapping the aliens where they were.
Getting up Batman throws a bataraang causing an explosion sending a good chunk of them flyng back.
Swinging in, Spider-Man knocks two to the ground when one shoots at him forcing him to duck.
"Look out!" Using her telepathy M'Gann yanks Spider-Man out of the line of fire and to her side.
"Thanks a lot." Spider-Man said.
"You owe me one." M'Gann said when one snuck up behind Batman.
"Batman!" J'onn turned intangible and went through Batman before it fired making him fall back.
"Uncle J'onn!" M'Gann gasps as Batman threw a bataraang knocking the alien out.
"Are you—" Batman starts but J'onn shook his head.
Lifting the tank, Superman approached them.
"Get him to safety, we'll cover you." Superman said as they moved away.
As Batman helped J'onn into the backseat, he didn't notice his eyes glowing yellow as he climbed into the jet and took off.
Throwing the tank it crashed down on them while Superman and M'Gann took flight.
"Uh little help here! I can't fly!" Spider-Man fires a web that Superman grabs.
"This stuff doesn't come out of you, does it?" Superman asks flying with Spider-Man hanging on.
Nearby M'Gann and the Bat jet joined them.
"That was close." Batman said.
"We're not done yet." J'ohnn said as dozens of alien ships flew at them.
"Oh great they have ways to fly too." Spider-Man whines.
"M'Gann tag in!" Superman yells.
"Wait what?" M'Gann said as Superman tosses Spider-Man to her forcing her to cringe as she struggled to hold him.
"Don't you dare let me fall!" Spider-Man yells as M'Gann uses her telepathy to help him up.
"I'll fly you shoot!" M'Gann said as the ships gained on them.
Firing two webs under his armpits for safety, Spider-Man began firing at the ships causing the views to be obstructed and crash.
"Nailed them!" Spider-Man said when one was coming in hot. "Incoming!"
Quickly turning diving down M'Gann and Spider-Man narrowly dodge.
"That was close." M'Gann cringed.
"Look out!" Spider-Man said as more came in at high speed.
As the two of them struggled to avoid fire, Batman and J'onn were having an even tougher time.
Superman tried to fly in and help but was blasted back.
Gaining on the bat jet the ships fired blowing off a wing, but as they plummeted two green lights engulfed them.
"What was that?" Batman asks.
"Help." J'onn said as they looked up to see two people in Green Lantern uniforms. One was an adult man with dark skin and a shaved head and the other was a teenage girl with tan skin and black hair in a bobcut. These were John Stewart and Jessica Cruz.
"Limelight put them down gently." Green Lantern said.
"I got it." Limelight said when a woman with a glowing mace and huge wings flew in.
This was Hawkgirl.
"Hawkgirl? What's she doing here?" Batman asks as J'onn phased out of the jet as Green Lantern and Limelight lowered him down onto a cliffside.
"Sorry we're late, there was an uprising near Rigel 9." Green Lantern said as Superman joined them.
As the new flyers joined the group M'Gann flung Spider-Man onto an enemy ship.
"Oh man don't you guys just hate getting bugs on your windshield?" Spider-Man asks as they charged up. "Whoops that's my cue." Jumping off Spider-Man dodges the attack as the beam blew up a nearby ship. "Ha! So long suckers!" Spider-Man said gliding out of the way when the shockwave knocked him down towards the rocks hitting the edge hard.
Groaning in pain, Spider-Man tried to get up when a ship flew in.
"Spider-Man!" M'Gann gasps when a figure leaped in and protected him.
Looking up Spider-Man was in awe as the most beautiful woman he had ever seen had come to help him.
She had long black hair, a red, blue and gold outfit that really showed off her body and a lasso on her waist. This was Wonder Woman.
"Allow me." She said blocking all enemy fire with her bracelets and redirecting some back at the ship causing it to explode.
"Whoa." Spider-Man said amazed.
As the ship crashed towards them Green Lantern made a barrier around them protecting them from the explosion.
"Who are the rookies?" Green Lantern asks.
"Spider-Man is with us but I have no idea who the other is." Superman said destroying another ship.
"Spider-Man." Green Lantern narrows his eyes.
When the smoke cleared Wonder Woman helped him up.
"Thank you." Spider-Man said.
"You're welcome." She smiles when a familiar red streak raced towards Batman.
"Hey Bats, you dropped this." Flash said holding up his broken wing as all the heroes gathered together. "Whoa you found Slinger."
"Slinger?" Spider-Man asks confused.
"His name is Spider-Man." Batman corrects.
"Heh potato potatoe." Flash shrugs before noticing Wonder Woman. "Whoa, where have you been all my life?"
"Themyscria." She answered.
"Them a what?" Limelight asks.
"The home of the Amazons. I thought it was just a legend." Hawkgirl said.
"I assure you it's as real as the ground we stand on. I am Diana, Princess of the Amazons." She introduced.
"Pinch me I'm dreaming." Flash said but Superman elbowed him instead.
"Themyscria is protected by the gods but I couldn't stand by while the rest of the world was in danger." Wonder Woman explains.
"Well I was lucky you showed up when you did." Spider-Man said.
"It was not luck. I called her here. Just like all of you." J'onn gestures.
"Look I'm usually quick on picking things up but can someone tell me what's going on?" Flash asks.
Slowly all of them turned towards J'onn and M'Gann.
"I wasn't born when it all started. Uncle J'onn?" M'Gann turns to him.
"It all began about a thousand of your earth years ago. Mars was a peaceful utopia and then they arrived. We had no idea where they came from but it was clear they wanted to make our planet their own. Us Martians were peaceful creatures but we quickly learned the ways of war. For centuries we battled against them and every trace of our once great civilization was annihilated. We fought but the invaders were parasites who fed on our psychic energy. While we grew weaker they grew stronger. They even absorbed our shapeshifting abilities." J'onn explains.
"Even my parents." M'Gann frowns.
"They died shortly after M'Gann was born. Which is why I took her in. I hid her away as a small group of Martian survivors planned one last desperate attack against them. Inside their stronghold they released a powerful nerve gas that paralyzed them. The attack was successful but the cost was high. Because I hid M'Gann she survived along with me, but we were the only ones who did. I sealed them away in the citadel and for 500 years I raised M'Gann and kept watch over the stronghold, but during our hibernation cycle astronauts from Earth accidentally unlocked the stronghold and revived the invaders." J'onn finished.
"Wait, those Astronauts never said anything about finding life." Flash said.
"Some pencil pusher in Washington probably covered it up." Green Lantern said.
"With no more Martians to feed on they decided to move onto this planet. We tried to get here before them but…well you know the rest." M'Gann said.
"While we were captured the invaders sent spies to disable Earth's defenses." J'onn said.
"That's why they attacked Star Labs Deep Space monitoring network so we couldn't detect them." Batman realized.
"We have to stop them before it's too late." Limelight said.
"It might already be too late." J'onn said when they heard a loud noise.
In New York, the citizens were doing everything they could to hide and be safe.
At OSCORP many of the citizens were hiding inside for safety, near the TV Norman and Harry were watching live footage of the invasion.
"Dad what the heck is going on?" Harry asks.
"Isn't it obvious Harry? It's an invasion. It's only a matter of time before their forces come here." Norman said.
"Harry!" Turning around they saw Gwen, Eddy and Maya ran in.
"Have you seen Jaden?" Gwen asks.
"He's not with you two?" Harry asks.
"No he had to leave for a job interview." Gwen said.
"Just before this whole thing happened he said he was spending the night with a friend. We thought it would be you." Maya said.
"I haven't seen Jaden since school." Harry said making them panic.
"Oh no, this is not good." Eddie said worried.
"Wait Jaden is out there in the middle of all that chaos and none of you have any idea where he is?" Norman asks as Liz overheard them.
"I keep calling him but it's going straight to voicemail." Gwen said as Maya started to worry.
"It's already so hard without my husband, I don't know how I'll survive without Jaden." Maya said starting to break down.
"I'm sure he's fine Mrs. Cooper." Eddie said.
"Yeah Jaden's probably just found a good place to hide." Harry agrees.
"Don't worry Maya, your son is a smart boy. He'll be fine. Once this clears up, I could easily have all of OSCORP look for him." Norman said.
"I hope you're right." Maya said when Liz walks over.
"Jaden's missing?" Liz asks surprised.
"He left the lab for a job interview right before all this craziness started." Gwen explains making Liz gasp.
"Come on Jaden, don't you even think about dying out there." Eddie said looking out the window at the city.
Back in the mountain range, all of them heard loud noises and explosions.
"That does not sound good." Spider-Man said as they all looked out in the distance to see dark clouds fill the sky as the invaders had multiple strange factories set up.
"What are they doing?" Hawkgirl asks.
"The invaders are nocturnal. They want to block out the sun so they can live in constant darkness." J'onn explains.
"Friends of yours?" Flash asks looking at Batman.
"This is no joke." Batman said.
"And talk about predictable. I mean come on that wasn't even funny." Spider-Man said.
"Like you could do better." Flash challenges turning to J'onn. "So what's the big deal? Just whip up another knockout gas."
"Sadly we can't do that. The gas was made from a rare plant on Mars and the only sample we had was destroyed when we showed up." M'Gann said.
"Uh anyone got a Plan B?" Flash asks not liking this.
"We have to take out those factories." Wonder Woman said.
"Lady this is no place for amateurs." Green Lantern said.
"We Amazons are proud warriors. Want to test me?" She challenges.
"No fighting each other. Save it for the enemy." Spider-Man said.
"That's enough. John, we need all the help we can get." Superman said stopping them.
"Fine." Green Lantern scoffs. "Tactically we have multiple objectives so we better split into teams."
"Dibs on the Amazon." Flash said moving towards Wonder Woman.
However in the end Flash was running across the sea with Green Lantern and Limelight flying alongside him.
"You are no fun!" Flash yells.
"It was fun for me seeing the look on your face." Limelight giggles.
"This isn't supposed to be fun. We have a job to do and we can't do it with distractions. Understood?" Green Lantern asks.
"Yes sir." Limelight sighs.
"Whatever." Flash said.
"Hey John I gotta know I saw you glaring at Spider-Man earlier. What's the deal?" Limelight asks.
"I've heard a lot of bad things about that kid. Often the words vigilante and menace are accompanying them. Whenever he tries to be a hero things get destroyed." Green Lantern said.
"Yikes, sounds like he's got a few things to work out." Limelight cringed.
"This is serious, this isn't some common criminals. This is the end of the world." Green Lantern said.
"I'm still learning and you didn't have a problem bringing me into this." Limelight points out.
"You're different. You have experience with this sort of thing." Green Lantern said.
"No one's a star hero right out of the gate." Limelight said.
"Speak for yourselves I was." Flash declares making both Lanterns deadpan him.
"Well maybe you have a point. I remember how much of a train wreck you were when I first started training you." Green Lantern smirks.
"Ugh. Maybe I should have stuck with Killowog." Limelight groans.
Arriving on the island they saw some Imperium Walkers patrolling a factory.
"There's our target." Green Lantern said.
"Alright what's the plan?" Limelight asks.
"Who needs a plan? We go in, kick their butts and get it over with." Flash said racing down.
"What an idiot." Limelight rolls her eyes.
Running down Flash whistles for their attention.
"Hey over here!" Flash yells.
Turning to him the walkers fire beams at him but Flash super speeds out of the way with ease. "Ha! Missed!"
As Flash began running circles around them he ended up stepping on a hidden landmine and was blasted into some kind of slime trap.
Gasping for air Flash tried to get out but was stuck.
"Uh oh that's not good." Limelight panics.
"Fool." Green Lantern growls.
As the walkers prepared to blast Flash away Limelight made a barrier around him to deflect the blast while Green Lantern blasts a walker's leg off making it crash to the ground.
"Okay there was a small flaw in plan." Flash admits.
"Ya think?" Limelight glares.
"I hope the others are having better luck than us." Green Lantern said.
In Egypt, a factory and Walkers were roaming near the sphinx and pyramids when Batman poked his head out from behind some ruins with Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and M'Gann
"Hiding like cowards is not the Amazon way." Wonder Woman said.
"They must have a weakness when we find it we'll strike." Batman said while Spider-Man looking in the opposite direction at the pyramids.
"I've always wanted to see the pyramids, wish it was under better circumstances." Spider-Man said.
"Uh earth to Spider-Man we have a mission." M'Gann said.
"Hey not until your uncle comes back. Look just take a minute and look where we are." Spider-Man said.
"You mean in the middle of a battleground?" Wonder Woman raised an eyebrow.
"The pyramids, this is one of the seven wonders of the world. Aren't you the least bit impressed?" Spider-Man asks.
"Not when the end of the world might happen." Batman said.
"Isn't that all the more reason to appreciate. If we might never see it again, I'd like to have one pleasant memory. Something to hold onto." Spider-Man said.
Pausing the three had to admit he was right. Looking up at the pyramids they couldn't help but be amazed by the majestic structure in front of them.
"Am I interrupting?" J'onn said appearing behind them.
"What did you find?" Batman asks.
"I searched every wall, there are no openings." J'onn said.
"Then we make our own." Wonder Woman said flying towards the factory.
"Stop don't go alone—" Spider-Man was about to follow when Batman stops him.
"Wait, let's see what she can do." Batman said.
Taking out her lasso, Wonder Woman dodges fire and wraps it around one walker's leg before flying around and around making it tied up just like what Spider-man did in Metropolis.
"Hey that's my move!" Spider-Man said.
"Hera give me strength." Wonder Woman pulls with all her might and the walker crashed into the factory making a hole. "There's your opening."
"Not bad." Batman said.
"Oh come on! I did the same thing and you didn't even give me a nod!" Spider-Man said as Batman and J'onn went after her with M'Gann giggling at him as she flew by.
"Come on you, we got to work to do." M'Gann said.
"Man what's a spider got to do to get some respect." Spider-Man sighs firing a web and swinging after.
Joining Wonder Woman inside she was deflecting enemy fire forcing them to run back.
But as they retreated Spider-Man and Batman noticed one making great effort to avoid a sun beam entering the factory.
"They run like cowards. What are you waiting for?" Wonder Woman asks as J'onn and M'Gann followed after her.
"Did you see that?" Batman asks turning to Spider-Man.
"Something's off." Spider-Man said.
"How so?" Batman asks.
"Remember the base? They attacked us relentlessly, but we're on their home turf." Spider-Man said.
"So why are they running?" Batman said curious. "Something's not right."
"Listen I've got this sense, my Spider-Sense. It alerts me when something dangerous is nearby and let me tell you it is tingling right now." Spider-Man said.
"It does huh?" Batman said interested. "You might be useful after all." Batman said as they ran after the others.
Finally in Metropolis, the two heavy hitters Superman and Hawkgirl were smashing the walkers like they were nothing.
As Superman rips a leg off one he throws it at the factory making a giant hole in it.
"Hawkgirl follow me!" Superman said as they flew into the factory.
Landing inside both stood ready and alert.
"Keep a sharp eye." Superman said.
"I always do." Hawkgirl said gripping her mace tight.
Making their way further in some aliens fired at them.
"Get back I'll—" Before Superman could finish Hawkgirl flew at them and smashed them all with her mace.
As one flew back, Superman ducks as it splated like goo on the walls.
"Whoa." Superman said wondering if she went too far.
"What? There's a time for words and there's a time for action." Hawkgirl said
Back with Flash and the Green Lanterns, both were finally getting the last of the goo off him.
"Of all the idiotic reckless glory hogging." Green Lantern lists.
"How do you put up with this guy?" Flash asks looking at Limelight.
"He's tough but fair." Limelight rolls her eyes.
"Haven't you heard of teamwork?" Green Lantern asks when a laser narrowly misses them.
"Can we save this lecture for later?" Flash asks breaking out of the last part.
Flying up Green Lantern used his ring to make a barrier to block their fire when suddenly a bomb was dropped on it emitting a yellow gas that completely consumed him.
"John!" Limelight gasps.
Holding out her ring she created a giant windmill to blow away the gas revealing Green Lantern on the ground unconscious.
"GL's been hit with some kind of knockout gas." Flash said as the Walkers came towards them. "I'm calling a tactical retreat."
"I'm good with that." Limelight said as they grabbed Green Lantern and made their escape as quickly as possible.
Back in Metropolis, Superman and Hawkgirl were slowly walking through the factory.
"They're close by. I can almost smell them." Hawkgirl said readying her mace.
"Are you always so eager to fight?" Superman asks.
"My home Thanagar is a war-like world. There one must strike first or die." Hawkgirl said when a laser was fired narrowly missing them.
Turning around, Hawkgirl said some invaders run down the hall before sealing the door shut preventing them from being followed.
Hawkgirl and Superman run to it only to see the door behind them get sealed.
Before they could react, a yellow gas was emitted making Hawkgirl cough and collapse.
"Hang on Hawkgirl!" Superman tried to break the door open but upon contact was zapped allowing the gas to knock both of them out.
In Cairo, Wonder Woman was deflecting laser fire as M'Gann used her telepathy to send the aliens flying into the wall.
"They cut us off again." Wonder Woman said.
"It's almost like they know what we were thinking." Batman said throwing a Batarang making them flee as it explodes.
Firing webs, Spider-Man blocks both paths.
"J'onn what do we do?" Spider-Man turns to him to see the Martian's eyes were glowing. "Uh hello? Earth to Mr. Martian."
"Superman and Hawkgirl are down. They have failed." J'onn declares surprising them.
"What?" Wonder Woman gasps.
"A-Are you sure? I mean really sure?" Spider-Man asks.
"He's not lying. I sense it too." M'Gann said.
"This way, hurry." J'onn said leading them down a corridor as the door behind them was sealed.
Making their way to the upper level, the invaders chase after them.
"We could really use some webs right about now." M'Gann said looking at Spider-Man.
"Couldn't agree more." Turning around Spider-Man fired webs blocking the path behind him. "That outta hold'em."
"For now." Batman said slipping an electrified knuckle over his fist.
"Remind me not to get on your bad side." Spider-Man gulps.
"Be the smartest decision you ever made." Batman said.
"Look." J'onn said getting their attention. "It's the Central Core." Pointing up they saw a few dozen invaders working around a glowing core.
"How can we shut it down?" Batman asks.
"Right there." M'Gann points to a glowing object in the middle of the core. "If we remove the Ion Matrix Crystal we can shut the whole thing down."
"I'll need a diversion." J'onn said.
"You got it." Batman throws a batarrang slicing a pipe in half making it dump on top of the aliens.
Following his example, Spider-Man and Wonder Woman ripped more pipes causing smoke to enter the room.
Using this chance, J'onn headed to the core while the other four heroes avoided fire.
Jumping down Batman made his signature cape pose as he flew down and nailed an alien in the face.
"Attention invaders from another planet! You are trespassing on our planet and I have to ask that you lay down you weapons or face extreme prejudice!" Spider-Man warns gliding down and firing webs tying them all up in a clump before delivering a powerful kick knocking them all to the ground.
Phasing through the floors, J'onn came up near the core grabbed the invader guarding it and threw it off the rails.
Reaching into the core, J'onn pulls out the Ion Matrix shutting the factory down.
However, before he could escape with it, an invader shot him making him plummet to the ground and drop the core.
"Uncle J'onn!" M'Gann screams in horror.
As the invaders ran to him, M'Gann's eyes glowed as she held out her hands lifting them all into the air. "Get away from him!" She roars hurling them back sending them smashing into their comrades.
"Get him out! Now!" Batman orders as Wonder Woman and M'Gann ran to his aid and ran.
Firing a grapple hook and a web, Batman and Spider-Man grab the core and try to follow but just as the three of them escape the door closes leaving Spider-Man and Batman trapped.
"Uh oh, this isn't good." Spider-Man gulps as Batman tried to break them out but his attacks did nothing.
Turning around Batman and Spider-Man saw tons of invaders aiming their weapons right at them.
"Batman, I got something to admit. I'm scared." Spider-Man said in a worried tone.
"That's good, that means you know your limits. Now you can surpass them." Batman said readying himself.
"But what if we lose? What if I don't make it back to see my friends or my mom?" Spider-Man asks.
"Then you fight. Fight with every ounce of strength you have so that you do make it back to them." Batman said tossing the core to the ground.
"Come on Spider-Man you can do it." Spider-Man said before slapping himself in the face pulling himself. "Alright! Let's do this!" Spider-Man said standing next to Batman ready for battle.
"Spider-Man! Batman!" M'Gann and Wonder Woman ran to the door only to hear multiple shots being fired.
"No!" Wonder Woman yells.
"Wait. There's nothing more we can do for them." J'onn said stopping them.
"You don't mean." Wonder Woman asks but J'onn nods.
"They're gone." J'onn said making M'Gann frown and hang her head.
"Hera help us." Wonder Woman said
After making their escape, the news was on revealing Snapper Carr with breaking news.
"Our satellites have just confirmed another object from space is approaching earth. It is roughly 5 times the size of the first landers. since Senator J. Allen Carter had this to say." Snapper said as the news changed to reveal the Senator.
"In the face of this new development, we are calling on the public to remain calm." Senator Carter said when the glass was broken revealing someone to take the TV this was broadcast on.
"I always wanted one of these!" A thug said.
"What if we get caught?" His partner asks.
"What difference does it make? The world's gonna end!" He said as they ran off.
Looking down at the public, the three of them saw everyone panicking in fear.
"Perhaps mother was right about the world of man. They are nothing but savages." Wonder Woman said seeing some throw a trashcan through a window.
"Don't judge them too harshly." J'onn said.
"They're scared and they don't know what to do." M'Gann said when they spotted some trying to lift some rubble.
"Hey help us out! There are kids trapped under here!" He said when a green beam lifted the rubble.
"Is this good enough?" Limelight asks revealing the kids trapped under.
"Thank you." They said grabbing the kids.
Flying towards the other group, Limelight, Green Lantern and Flash arrived atop the building.
"Sorry we're late, had to help some civilians." Green Lantern said.
"What's going on?" Limelight asks.
"Superman's been captured. He's trapped somewhere inside there with Hawkgirl." Wonder Woman points to the factory.
"Whoa." Flash said not expecting this.
"And what about Batman and Spider-Man?" Green Lantern asks causing both Wonder Woman and M'Gann to frown.
"They acted heroically…to the vvery end." J'onn declares shocking them.
"They're gone? Both of them?" Limelight gasps.
"They were true warriors." Wonder Woman said.
"Batman is one thing but Spider-Man…poor kid had his whole life ahead of him." Green Lantern frowns feeling bad for how he treated Spider-Man earlier.
"I really thought those two would be a great team." Flash frowns.
"This is not good, not good at all." Green Lantern said.
Making their way to the factory, they hid behind some rubble as some walkers were on patrol.
"I can't believe we're doing this again." Flash said.
"If Superman and Hawkgirl are in there, someone has to rescue them." Green Lantern said.
"They'd do the same for us." Limelight said before turning towards J'onn. "And you're sure that's where they are?"
"Yes, they're alive but we must act quickly. The Imperium is coming." J'onn said.
"The who?" Flash asks.
"The supreme intelligence that controls these beings." J'onn said.
"And the reason Mars was destroyed." M'Gann adds.
"Can we trust these two?" Flash asks.
"What choice do we have?" Limelight asks.
"Okay here's the plan. Flash creates a distraction. Diana, you and Limelight watch my back." Green Lantern said.
"You wanna rely on a rookie?" Wonder Woman smirks.
"Let's move." Green Lantern said ignoring that.
Running out towards the walker, Flash grabs a rock and throws it hitting a it in the head.
"Tag you're it!" Flash mocks.
The walker fires at him but Flash easily dodges running to right behind a trap of theirs.
"Come on slowpoke I dare you! Over here!" Flash taunts.
Raising its foot the walker attempts to crush him but Flash dodges making it step on the trap causing it to explode and destroy its leg.
Unable to keep its balance, the walker falls to the ground and explodes.
"Bye-bye." Flash said before running to the factory where the others flew in through the hole Superman made.
"Where are they being held?" Green Lantern asks.
"This way." J'onn said as they landed down a corridor.
"I hope I didn't keep you." Flash said catching up with them.
They were about to turn a corner when they heard alien chatter.
Gasping they quickly hid to avoid being spotted.
Peeking his head out J'onn saw two guards talking to each other.
"Wait here." J'onn said as he changed his shape to mimic them.
Running out J'onn warned them in their alien language saying something was in the direction he was running from.
As they went to check it out they see the Justice League hiding.
Raising their weapons they were about to attack when J'onn appears behind them and took them both out at once.
"Come, we need to hurry." J'onn said.
"Is it just me or does he creep you out too?" Flash asks.
"Hey that's my family you're talking about." M'Gann glares.
"Sorry." Flash quickly apologized.
Making their way deeper into the factory they come to a stop in front of a sealed wall.
"I sense they are somewhere on the other side." J'onn said.
Walking up to it, Wonder Woman pushes with all her might but it wouldn't budge.
"It's no use, we'll have to find another way around." Wonder Woman frowns.
"Step aside." Green Lantern said as he and Limelight readied their rings.
"Bet I can get my half done before you can." Limelight challenges.
"We'll see about that." Green Lantern said as both fired green beams cutting a circular hole in the wall.
While everyone waited in anticipation J'onn and M'Gann both had nervous looks on their faces as the Imperium had entered Earth's atmosphere.
"We haven't much time left." J'onn said.
Finishing up the hole they blast it open revealing Superman and Hawkgirl hanging upside down.
"Great Hera." Wonder Woman said surprised.
Shaking off the surprise all of them ran to help them down.
"Wait, something's not right." M'Gann said sensing something.
"Huh?" Limelight said confused when Superman and Hawkgirl's eyes glow red making the wall behind them seal shut.
"It's a trap!" Green Lantern gasps as yellow gas filled the room knocking them all out.
Smirking Superman and Hawkgirl change forms revealing them to be invaders who had transformed into them.
Soon all the heroes were brought together and had their arms and legs trapped preventing them from escaping.
"J'onn. J'onn! Wake up." Superman said as he woke up.
"Superman." J'onn acknowledges.
"You shouldn't have risked your lives for us." Superman said.
"Would you have done less for me?" J'onn asks as the others began to wake up.
"Ugh my aching head." Flash groans as one invader walked up to them.
"Earth's mightiest heroes." It mocks before changing shape into Senator Carter. "Welcome."
"Senator Cater?" Superman said not expecting this.
"Unfortunately the real Carter never returned from Mars." Cater smirks.
"And you used me to weaken Earth's defenses." Superman realized.
"You were so eager to cooperate. Thanks to you the Earthlings were completely defenseless." Carter said.
"It's not over yet." Superman glares.
"Once again, you're wrong." Carter declares as the roof opens revealing the giant spaceship.
As it descended down it opened revealing a small shuttle.
"All hail the Imperium!" Carter said as he and all the other aliens bowed.
From the shuttle, a large purple egg-shaped alien covered in darkness descended down towards the heroes. Specifically eyeing the Martians.
"J'onn J'onzz, it's been a while. And who is this? Another martian. A little on the young side." The Imperium said as both were brought before it.
"You don't know me, but I know all about you. You're the monster who destroyed our planet, our home, my family." M'Gann glares.
"Cute, you defy us too." The Imperium said as one guard zapped her making M'Gann scream in pain.
"M'Gann." J'onn gasps seeing her drop to her knees in pain. "She's not part of this. You know it's me you want."
"Oh you're right about that J'onn. For centuries you have defied us." The Imperium said as it was J'onn's turn to get zapped forcing him down onto his knees.
"And I will never bow to you or any of your kind." J'onn cringed standing back up.
"Then I will personally see to finishing you myself. Watch closely young Martian. This is how I destroyed your entire race." The Imperium declares.
Wrapping its tentacles around J'onn they enter his body causing him to scream in agony before he was forced into the Imperium's body where they all could hear the sounds of J'onn's scream as he was subjected to horrible, agonizing torture.
Eyes widening all they could do was watch in horror.
"No! Stop!" M'Gann tried to save him but the guards restrained her.
"Let me him go you monsters!" Superman yells.
"Surrender J'onn." The Imperium orders.
"Never!" J'onn yells.
"Why do you resist? After all these years, you've final lost." The Imperium declares.
"Have I?" J'onn asks.
"I sense something you're hiding. Deep in your mind. What is it?" The Imperium asks.
"Uh I'd let him go if I were you." A familiar voice calls out getting everyone's attention.
"Who's there?" The Imperium calls out.
"Oh I'm your conscience. We don't talk much. I can't believe you started the party without us." The voice echoes.
"Wait a second is that?" M'Gann smiles.
"Now!" J'onn yells as an explosion went off near the core.
Looking over they saw Batman standing nearby.
"Batman?" Flash gasps.
"It can't be." Wonder Woman said.
"I mentally shielded them so they couldn't be detected." J'onn explains.
"Them?" Superman said when multiple webs were fired trapping Carter and all the aliens where they stood.
"Hey everyone, sorry we're late for the party." Spider-Man said swinging in and kicking the guards away from M'Gann.
"S-Spider-Man?" M'Gann said speechless.
"Need a hand Miss Martian?" Spider-Man asks causing her smile and take his hand.
Slamming a device into the core, Batman made the entire thing turn blue and icy.
"What have you done?" Carter asks.
"Reversed the ion charge." Batman declares.
"Destroy it!" The Imperium orders but all of his men were too webbed up to even move.
"Sorry fellas, but now it's your turn to sit and watch." Spider-Man said as the entire matrix fired a blue beam into the sky causing all the dark clouds to part revealing the sunny sky.
Screaming all the invaders tried to escape but the webs held them tight causing them to get burnt to the point they all dissolved.
As the Imperium started to bubble, J'onn used this chance to escape.
Grabbing the alien by his tentacles, J'onn yanked him further into the light.
"No!" It screams in agony.
"You live underground and shun the light. Why? Does it burn your pale putrid skin?" J'onn mocks as it pulled back only for it to get zapped.
"Oh no you don't!" Standing behind it M'Gann had one of their spears. "This is for my parents!"
Zapping it agony M'Gann allows J'onn to yank the Imperium out of t eh shadows and into the light causing it scream.
"Oof, that's one nasty sunburn." Flash said as Batman and Spider-Man came to free them.
"Ultraviolet rays, coming from the deepest parts of space they have no resistance to the sun's radiation." Batman said freeing Superman.
"We saw it in Egpt when broke a hole in their factory. They weren't running from us, they were running from the light." Spider-Man said freeing Wonder Woman.
"How did you two avoid them this whole way here?" Wonder Woman asks.
"Spider Sense." Spider-Man said proudly as Superman used his heat vision to free the others.
"While J'onn shielded us from being detected Spider-Man's spider-sense alerted us to any dangers coming our way and we were able to sneak past every single one of them." Batman said freeing Flash.
"But the lasers, I heard them being fired." Wonder Woman said.
"Yeah those guys had terrible aim. Batman gave me the pep talk I needed to pull myself together and we wiped the floor with them." Spider-Man said freeing her arms.
"Told you, you two would make a good team." Flash smirks.
With a clear weakness right in front of them all the heroes quickly got their second wind and were on the attack.
While Superman, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl and Green Lantern went to the roof to rip open more areas of sunlight Spider-Man, Batman, Flash and Limelight trapped the invaders forcing them to get hit by the sun's rays.
"If you can't take the heat then get the hell off our planet!" Spider-Man declares.
Seeing there was no way it could win, the Imperium attacked J'onn and whacks M'Gann away before heading to its ship.
"Imperium!" Carter ran after him and leaped onto a tentacle wanting to go with him.
"Unhand me worm!" The Imperium throws him off before entering its shuttle.
As Carter tried to escape a web wrapped around his leg and yanked him in.
Screaming he was then met with a punch to the face by Spider-Man before flying into the sunlight screaming in agony as he melted
"Senator Carter consider yourself fired and removed from office." Spider-Man said
Looking up Wonder Woman saw the Imperium shuttle trying to get back to the ship.
Taking out her lasso, she twirls it and throws grabbing onto the shuttle.
As she held on with all her might Hawkgirl flew up to it.
Swinging her mace, she smashes it down on the ship causing it to explode taking out the Imperium with it.
However the resulting strike caused the ship to plummet down back towards the factory.
"We gotta get outta here!" Flash said as rubble started to fall.
"Not without them!" Superman said gesturing to some people trapped in pods.
"Come on! The whole place is coming down!" Spider-Man said helping J'onn and M'Gann up.
Using their rings, Green Lantern and Limelight got the civilians out while Superman, Hawkgirl, and Wonder Woman helped get the non flyers out before the entire factory collapsed.
As the Imperium ship escaped all the heroes looked out at the city.
They had done it, they drove them off and saved the earth.
Hours later at Jaden's house, Maya was pacing around the kitchen with the phone near her ear.
"As the last of the invaders are being dealt with many of us are left to wonder what will become of Earth now?" A news anchor said.
"Come on Jaden, please pick up." Maya said.
Suddenly the door opened startling her.
Turning around she saw Jaden walk in, but his clothes were ruffled and some dirt stains. On arms he had a few bruises and a smile on his face.
"J-Jaden." Maya said speechless.
Slowly walking up to her, Jaden put his backpack down and opened it.
Reaching inside, Jaden pulls out the eggs she asked for before this whole invasion started.
"Sorry it took me a while Mom. Didn't have the weekend I was hoping for."" Jaden smiles.
Tearing up Maya smiles as she took the carton before pulling her son into a big hug.
"I thought I lost you." Maya chokes.
"It's okay Mom. I'm here. I'm here." Jaden smiles hugging her back.
"I love you Jaden. I love you so much." Maya sobs.
"I love you too mom." Jaden said.
With all that chaos finally behind them, Jaden and his mother happily embraced. They were back together again.
From the rooftop across the street, Batman was looking at the moment and smiled.
When everything finally settled down, we find ourselves up in space in a large space station orbiting earth, Superman looks to see Batman walking to him.
"Incredible. Do your stockholders know about this Bruce?" Superman asks.
"A line-item hidden in the Aerospace R&D budget. This Watchtower will act as a beacon warning us of any outer space invaders." Batman states.
"And it also helps us keep track of things on earth as well." Looking up they saw Spider-Man drop hanging upside down by a web.
"And it has a fully stocked kitchen." Flash said as he and Wonder Woman walked in. "Ice mocha?"
"No thanks." Superman said as Wonder Woman sipped hers.
"Hmm we don't have this on Themyscria." She smiles.
"Iced Mocha's good but I prefer Ice Cream. If you want to stick around, I'd be happy to show you." Spider-Man offers.
"Maybe I will." Wonder Woman smiles liking the sound of that.
"An impressive installation." Green Lantern said as he, Lime Light and Hawkgirl flew down.
"Very impressive." Lime Light smiles.
"But what does it have to do with us?" Green Lantern asks.
"I once thought I could protect the world by myself, but I was wrong. Working together we saved the planet and I believe if we all stay together as a team, we can be a force that could truly work for the ideals of justice and peace." Superman explains.
"What? Like a bunch of Superfriends?" Flash mocks.
"No wait, a Justice League." Spider-Man said.
"Justice League? That's so corny." Flash said.
"Actually, that's not bad. I kinda like it." Superman smiles.
"But you do have a point. With all of us behind it, it just might work. Count me in." Flash said.
"Us too." Green Lantern said as he and Lime Light stepped up.
"And me." Hawkgirl said joining them.
"What about you?" Spider-Man asks.
"I don't know if my mother would approve." Wonder Woman said.
"Well neither would mine, if you don't tell mine, I won't tell yours." Spider-Man offers causing her to giggle.
"Deal." Wonder Woman smiles.
"Ah what? I've been trying to get her to laugh this whole time and bug boy gets it on the first try?" Flash groans.
"Because unlike you, he's funny." Lime Light said.
"The world of man is intriguing, I'll gladly join." Wonder Woman said.
"What about you two?" Superman asks looking to Batman and Spider-Man.
"I'm not really a people person but when you need help and you will, call me." Batman said.
"I'm still learning the ropes of this hero business, but I promise I'll do my best." Spider-Man said.
"Sounds like we're all in agreement." Superman said.
"Wait, where's J'onn?" Wonder Woman asks.
"And M'Gann?" Spider-Man asks.
"Where are they?" Flash asks as they look around.
Spotting them on an upper level, Superman flies up to them.
"Are you both alright?" Superman asks.
"Our family and loved ones are all gone. Now it is just me and M'Gann." J'onn said.
"We're the last of our kind." M'Gann frowns.
"I know that feeling." Superman frowns.
"We're all alone now." J'onn said.
"J'onn, M'Gann we can never replace your loved ones but we'd all be honored if you two called Earth your home." Superman smiles.
"Personally, I wouldn't mind it, Earth looks fun and…it has nice people." M'Gann said.
"I suppose we can try." J'onn smiles.
"But you're gonna need hero names if you're gonna continue this. Any thoughts?" Superman asks.
"I suppose how about Martian Manhunter?" J'onn suggest.
"Sounds very heroic. And you M'Gann?" Superman asks.
Pausing M'Gann wanted to think of a good name when she spotted Spider-Man down below and smiled. "Miss Martian."
"I like it." J'onn smiles.
"Come on." As Superman leads them back down the others Spider-Man and Batman look over.
"I don't know how I'm gonna do this. There's no way I can convince my mom to let me disappear to save the world with you guys." Spider-Man frowns.
"I'm going to be honest, when I first brought you here, I didn't know if you could handle it." Batman said putting a hand on his shoulder.
As Spider-Man looks up at him a soft smile appeared.
"I've never been so wrong in my entire life. As of now Spider-Man you're in a very small circle of mine. Only 3 others are in it, consider yourself working for me." Batman said.
"Seriously? Oh man thank you." Spider-Man said giving Batman a hug.
"I don't do hugs." Batman glares.
"Oh uh sorry." Spider-Man said letting go.
"I'll take you home and don't worry about your mother. I'll handle it." Batman said.
As they were all about to leave, Spider-Man looks to see Wonder Woman looking out at Earth.
"Bit of a change of pace huh? One minute your life is normal and now you're a hero fighting to protect everyone." Spider-Man said.
"I'm not used to being a hero, it's gonna take some time." Wonder Woman said.
"I know that feeling. I'm still learning myself. I just started being a hero a few months ago. I guess that means you and I are in the same boat. Still at least it's nice to have a teammate who's going through the same thing you are." Spider-Man said causing her to smile.
"I suppose it is. Well then, hopefully you and I can learn how to be heroes together." She offers.
"I'd like that." Spider-Man nods.
A few days later, it was early in the morning at Jaden's house, Jaden was lying in bed exhausted when he heard a knock at his door.
"Jaden. Jaden wake up." Maya calls out.
"Ugh what?" Jaden groans waking up.
"Get dressed, we have company." Maya smiles.
"We do?" Jaden asks.
"Mr. Bruce Wayne, he wants to see you." Maya said.
"Bruce Wayne?" Jaden said surprised.
Getting dressed Jaden makes his way down to see Maya hand Bruce Wayne some coffee.
"Thank you very much." Bruce smiles sipping it when he spots Jaden. "Jaden, good to see you. Sorry for waking you up so early."
"Jaden you didn't tell me you knew Bruce Wayne." Maya said
"Uh well..." Jaden said nervously.
"Why I owe this boy my life. I was attacked by a very vicious dog and this young man saved my life and brought me to safety. I tried to reward him, but he absolutely refused." Bruce smiles causing Jaden's eyes to widen realizing what Mr. Wayne meant.
"Mr. Wayne wants to offer you a job." Maya smiles.
"A job?" Jaden said surprised.
"It's not much, Wayne industries is setting up shop in this town and I could use a part-time assistant, a gofer. Go for this, go for that, someone who knows this city well and can help me. An ally if you would. Would you be interested?" Bruce asks.
"A chance to work with Bruce Wayne? That's an amazing opportunity." Maya smiles.
"Yes, but I should warn you Mrs. Cooper I might ask Jaden to help me out overnight in business out of town, of course, I'd make sure you knew in advance." Bruce asks.
"I don't see a problem with that." Maya nods.
"Does uh this job pay well?" Jaden asks.
"Well look who you're talking to." Bruce smirks. "But yes, I make sure my workers receive very fair pay. Even something like your job should be enough to help pay the bills."
Hearing this Jaden couldn't help but smile. Their money troubles were solved.
"Now Jaden I should warn you I can be a difficult taskmaster and expect nothing short of excellence from all my employees." Bruce said standing up.
"I can handle it Mr. Wayne." Jaden nods.
"You and I are very different Jaden, but I think in time with my guidance you have a bright future ahead." Bruce said.
"I hope so too sir. I'll do my best to live up to your expectations." Jaden said.
"Well then Mr. Cooper, welcome to my world." Bruce said as he and Jaden shook hands sealing their new partnership.
