Marine Port of Shieldfreeden
"What are you going to do this week?" a buff demi human with shark like features asks his fellow sailor man, he was standing on top of a wooden box while his companion was leaning his back to a support bean
"I was planning on taking my wife out to a restaurant, what about you?" the sailor with a ponytail on his blonde hair says, it was a slow day at the port and they had to stay there for another 3 hours until they can end their shifts
"My brother is getting married and he wants me to go to the wedding, I just don't feel like having to spend three days on the road to be in a wedding" the sailor shark responded a bit annoyed at the whole ordeal, not wanting to make the trip
"You should go man! he is your brother after all and I can tell you from experience that is a wonderful moment" the human sailor says while patting the back of the shark man
"Whatever is just... I can't stand him at times" the shark responded with his arm crossed looking away into the city
"You should be happy that he found someone, don't tell you're still mad at him because he chose to be florist" the human sailor responded while looking annoyed at his companion
"It was family tradition to get in the navy, have you ever seen a shark live away from the water?" the shark demi human says to justify himself, for six generations all the man in his family have joined the navy or at the very least got jobs in ships but his brother decided to become a florist in a small city away from the ocean
"It's his choice to make... hey are you seeing that?" the sailor said as he looked over to the far away sea
"That looks like a ship... flying?" the shark said as he tried to look at it better, was the two of them having a hallucination or was there fog making it seem that the ship was flying
"Wait there's someone lifting it! and he is getting close!" the human said as he looked over with a binocular, in disbelief of his own mind
"What!? that's impossible, what type of magic would he be-"
*THUD*
the heavy ship leaves a tremendous noise as it is put in the beach with the ground close shaking a bit
"You all can rest easy now, once you get the repairs on the shell this ship should be able to sail again" a man in a red cap said as flew to check on the passagers of the ship
"I thought the feeling of being sea sick was bad, I will take vomiting on deck any day compared to flying" an old man with dog ears and tail said as he tried to look fine while he had to hold on to his lunch
"Thank you so much shield hero, are you sure you don't want to take our merchandise?" the captain of the ship asked as he felt the need to reward their savior, if it hadn't been for him the entire crew would have been drowning or dying for some type of sea monster
"I don't need it, you can keep it for when you go back to the sea" the mysterious savior looks at the crew and notices one wearing a pair of glasses similar to the ones he used to have "although I could use a pair of glasses, mine broke a while back"
"Oh! here you can have mine I have a spare back home" the possum demi human sailor hands them to the red caped man, who stores it in his inventory
"Who the hell are you!?" the shark man screamed out while looking at the man, not only did he wear a weird costume but he was also floating in the air like he was a bird
"I'm Superman, but most people call me the Shield hero" the man in blue says, the two sailors could see the super part as a guy lifting a ship above his head and flying would be something exceptional even for a skilled human mage to do but the other part wasn't clicking for the shark
"The Shield hero? you're joking right" he said, the man was something else no doubt but he couldn't just go around calling himself one of the fou-
"No wait look at his arm!" the human sailor said while pointing at the silver shield, it looked just like the one of the shield hero's statue with the blue gem and black lines
"Well I got to go now, I have a companion that will probably freak out if I'm not in my room when the morning comes" Superman says as he flies off in the horizon, the two sailors looking at shock while the crew of the ship cheered
"...I can't believe what I just saw" the blonde sailor says in complete disbelief
"... Me neither" the shark responded in agreement
Melromarc, Castle town
Clark flies back to his room trying to bring as little attention as possible "another full night of international hero work, now I should probably get started with breakfast before leaving to-"
"the shield hero should be in that room" Clark hears this and uses his x-ray vision to see five royal guards heading towards his door 'do they need my help?'
*knock * knock*
"Open the door shield hero!" a mustachioed guard loudly said while looking at the door of the bedroom before it being opened by the man of steel
"Is there a problem?" Clark asked
"The king has requested you to come to the castle immediately!" the guard said still in his loud voice as he looked up to meet the shield hero's eyesight
"Really? Alright let me call Myn-"
"I said Immediately!" the guard screamed to show dominance
"Fine..." Clark uses his x-ray vision to look into Myne's room seeing that it was completely empty 'that's odd...'
the man of steel was escorted by the guards to the castle, he felt that something was off about this like they saw him as criminal or something, they were purposefully moving at a slow pace so that everyone could see and shun him which Clark didn't understand why, but using his super hearing he found out as to why
"that's the shield fiend, how dare him walk around here"
"look at the way he is dressed, no wonder he did such a thing"
"all the rumors about him were true, i mean look at how he looks!"
"that devil deserves to die!"
the comments of the people told Clark that something has changed, people have been weird out by his costume ever since he got summoned but now they were giving him death threats for some sort of reason 'I needed to get to the bottom of this' he thought
once they finally arrived at the castle, the guards all gave him death stares and Clark prepared himself for their attack but they all just ordered him to get in the throne room, although he could hear their wishes to kill under their breath with his super hearing
he went through the door of the throne room, he didn't even need his super hearing to see people throwing insults at him as well as everyone giving him a glare of disappointement, he could see that Myne was there too crying to the side of a enraged motoyasu
"Did something happen yo-"
"Silence you utter filthy!" the king snapped at Clark with rage, the kryptonian just raised a eyebrow in confusion
"You will pay for your crimes!" Aultcray had his blood boiling due to his anger
"Crimes? But I haven't committed any-"
"You claim this but our testimony suggests otherwise, Myne dear I'm sorry to ask this but please tell us what happened." The king asked.
"Oh, i-it was horrible, the shield hero burst into my room last night, he seemed… drunk and kept t-telling me, "oh the night is still young", he then grabbed me, and… f-f-forced me down and-" she stops speaking and starts to cry. Clark knew what was going on now, he was being framed, he had heard about this sort of thing back in the daily planet if he recalls, Lois was covering a history about rape cases that turned out to be false where the wife's would incriminate their husbands to get their money and belongings
"Are you going to believe that? She is not even producing any tears to be crying" Clark said but he knew that he should be more careful with his words going forward as they could be used against him, one slip of the tongue could be his end in this scenario
"That's because she spent half the night doing so you unforgivable bastard!" Motoyasu shouted,when myne had come to him crying about the event all that Motoyasu wanted to do was stab the shit out of Kal-El 'I should have known that he would do this...that costume was a red flag from the start!'
"I have no words, other than that you're a disappointement of a hero" Itsuki was insulted, Kal-El
Clark looked over to Ren to see his reaction, but he stayed silent probably not wanting to choose a side 'he either has decided a side or he doesn't care about the outcome' the man of steel briefly thought
"Now bring the second evidence!" As the king demanded, 2 knights walked in with a woman's lingerie, making Myne slightly embarrassed by the sight of it.
"According to the reports by several knights in the area, this was found in your room during an inspection. And looking at the earlier testimony, only proves that you're guilty" the king said with a dominant voice in a display of power, probably to intimidate the man of steel
"With all do respect your majesty, that's impossible. My room was empty when I left, it's obviously planted evidence" Clark said with a calm demeanor only to have the knights point their spears back at his neck, despite this he stood strong and didn't flinch
"An assault on a woman alone is punishable by death, if you weren't the chosen shield hero, you would be executed on sight" the king's advisor gave his own scowl
"Shouldn't I be given a chance to prove that I'm innocent? as it stands this trial is one sided and the validity of the evidence is-"
"This evidence is enough to prove you of your crime!" the king scowled while leaning over, his face had pure hatred in it's expression before leaning back, he wanted to show the criminal of the shield that only the king held any power in the room
"All I ask is that a pro-"
"You have no word in this Trial you devil! her word is more trustworthy than yours now shut your mouth!" the king interrupts Clark
"..." the man of steel looked at the king's eyes and saw personal hatred beyond any person in there 'his eyes... this look he is giving me is almost like the one Lex had in our fights and encounters...'
"If you weren't a holy hero then you'll certainly be dead now. Since that can't happen though, rumors of your crime have already spread across the country, you shall no longer be able to live a normal life here ever again. As long as you're fighting the waves no further punishment can be acted upon, but until then, that shall be your punishment, Now release him and get him out of my sight." the king says as his patience ends, he didn't want to look at the man who raped his dear daughter any longer
A bunch of knights try to force him to leave but they're all dismissed by Clark, even if they tried to move him it seemed like moving a mountain "there is no need for this, I will leave myself"
he looks back to see that everyone continued to give him looks of anger with myne pulling her eye socket out while showing her tongue, but the man of steel noticed that Ren had a hand on his chin while looking at the king rather than him 'at least one of them has doubts about this'
he leaves the castle with the knights still giving him looks of bloodlust, Clark goes to a alley and uses as a cover to fly off into the atmosphere once again
he float's in space thinking deeply about the trial 'there is something missing in this, why would myne incriminate me and why would the king have such hatred towards me out of nowhere... although he had shown signs of that every since I got here...' he opens his eyes and looks down on the country focusing only on it with his super hearing
"the shield hero raped Malty Melromarc!? that bastard!"
"that demi human loving criminal deserves to die!"
"we should have never summoned him!"
"why didn't they put him in jail!?"
Multiple voices of many people insulting and wishing the worst for him appeared in many parts of the country, this would be a torture to any normal person but to superman it was nothing new, in his own world there were just as many people that feared him because of his power, half of humanity loved him and half of it hated him as many of them couldn't understand the weight in his shoulders of saving the entire world
"Even if the people of Melromarc hate me, it is still my duty to save them and protect against the waves" Clark exclaimed confidently, he flies back down to a farm and gets a overall and a plaid shirt from a clothes line after landing
"The people of here may hate superman..." he says before spinning around in super speed and changing into the farmer clothes he grabbed "but they don't have anything against Clark Kent" he says as the man of steel puts some glasses on and leaves the place leaving a couple of silver coins on top a wooden box
Clark used his super speed and ran back to the capital of Melromarc stopping at the forest 'I should probably change this shield, they would know who I am just by looking at it' Clark looked around and grabbed a tree trunk out of the ground, putting it inside the shield

after equipping this shield form and placing it on his back, he makes his way to the gate
"Stop! What is your business in the capital?" a guard asks
"Me? I'm just a simple farmer, I was hoping to sell some parts of a couple of monsters that had been around my barn the past couple of days" Clark said while taking a couple of balloons scraps from his 'pocket'
"Very well, you may pass" the guard said while lowering his hand, if this man was just a farmer wanting to sell a few scraps from balloons then he shouldn't even care to ask his name 'couldn't he sell that back at his village? bah why should I care'
Clark passed through the gates and walked around the place selling different monster parts to different shops around the place and even giving some exclusive items from his drop menu like a balloon ball or Mush hat
"Hey watch where you're going" Ren said as he accidentally bumped into the man of steel in disguise
"Sorry mister... Ah you're the sword hero!" Clark said as to look a normal peasant, as the heroes seemed to be like celebrities around here
"Yeah I am" Ren said as he wanted to avoid social contact but it seemed people just liked to come around him, he wasn't really a fan of those stares, but he kept being hidden to maintain his cool guy demeanor
"I heard that you heroes had been summoned but I didn't know Melromarc had the sword hero, makes you wonder who got the spear hero" Clark said, from what he heard from a couple of individuals he had saved, one hero is supposed to be summon by one country as many people seemed surprised or happy that their country had summoned him which made superman think why would the king do something like this as it would probably violate some sort of agreement between the nations
"I don't care about..." Ren stopped as he started to process what the farmer had said "wait what did you say?"
"I just said that is a surprise for the sword hero to be in Melromarc" Clark said as he keeps his 'happy-go-lucky farmer from Kansas' persona
"Why is that?" Ren asked as Melromarc was the starting area and the other countries are just areas to shop and gather materials 'we were supposed to defend those as well? that was new...' he thought
"Uhh... that is because Melromarc is supposed to summon the spear hero while the sword hero is supposed to be summoned in Shieldfreeden or Zeltobe, sir Ren..." Welt responded, the king had given them orders to not mention or talk about the other countries but seeing that he couldn't hide this, the mage decided that explaining it would be better in this situation
"Really?! then why did they summon the four of us here?" Ren once again asked as that seemed like the most dick movie the king could do
"Well... Melromarc is the weakest between the other regions from what I know, Faubley has a large number of strong adventurers and Shieldfreeden has a powerful vassal hero to protect them but that's all I know from the other countries" Tersia responded this time, from what he heard there was a vassal hero on Shieldfreeden that appeared two years ago and it was a well know fact that Faubley had strong adventurers that descended from previous legendary heroes as the people of Faubley proudly said every chance they got or at least that was what his merchant friend said about his travel's there
"The four heroes are here? boy this will cause a lot of problems in the rest of the world, this may cause a war..." Clark once again said, from what he was able to gather from his time in this world, it seems that the legendary heroes are not only important people but also seem to be looked up to like gods as the people he saved from Siltvelt always call him holy savior or shield god. If that was the case then King Aultcray might have angered the other countries by calling all heroes to Melromarc, luckily he can cover most of the world by himself but that doesn't mean that the tension between the countries won't start to form
'The rest of the world is also suffering from the waves too? this is the starting area so it makes sense to be the weakest country but did the king decide to let the rest of the world die and save his country...and then claim the territory after all it's destroyed to expand his kingdom?...no this can't be right! the king is one of the good guys in Brave Star Online!...but this would make a lot of sense to be a secret plot twist to make things deeper... I gotta look out for this stuff' Ren thought as all this information seemed so important and yet he was only able to get it from a random farmer npc
"thanks for the information, NPC... I mean what's your name?" the sword hero asked as if he were to find this npc once again and had another one of these lore drop conversation it would be good to know his name
"You can call me Clark Kent mister hero, just your friendly local farmer" Clark introduces himself to the sword hero again but in his civilian identity
"Now that I think about... this would explain some rumor's I heard about the shield hero. but I'm confused on this whole trial of the shield, I'm just a simple minded farmer, but something seems off about this rumors, why would he rape someone in the...how long have you all been here? two days? that seems absurd" Clark said as to plant the seed of doubt in Ren's mind since he seemed like the only one who saw how one-sided and admittedly unfair the trial was
'It really was a bit too suspicious...' Ren thought as even if Kal-El was guilty, the king seemed to take it very personal and he denied any attempt of a fair trial, he wouldn't care about this but if it was true then all of them would have let a innocent man be labeled a criminal for the rest of his life because of a false declaration, if he was in the same situation he would also plea for a fair trial even if it was false or not
"If you ask me the king was probably biased, as the supposed rape victim was his daughter" Ren responded as it was the most likely reason for the king's attitude and punishment, his relationship with Myne seemed much more than just that of a worker and employer, and Motoyasu had mentioned something about Myne being a princess but he chalk it up to him being a womanizer but now it made sense, as a father he would obviously side with his daughter and want to make the man who raped her suffer
"The shield hero rape the king's daughter?" Clark asked surprised, but he then remembered hearing a couple of people talking about it, now it made sense the trial against him being one sided since the king was the judge of course he would side with his daughter in this sort of case
"If he did, he probably didn't know she was his daughter" The sword hero responded, he had to admit even he didn't know about this until motoyasu talked about it after the trial
"That is very unexpected...". Clark said as he placed his hand on his chin, now more pieces were adding up but he still didn't know why myne would do this but if she had outside motives or just for kicks, he would have to worry about it later and try to clean his name the best he could for now
"Hum, anyways I gotta go" Ren says as he and his party resume their walk, he had a quest to do and exp to gain with every second he waste being a detriment to his grind, but at least the talk he had served as he now had more knowledge of the world he was in
"Okay, bye sir hero" Clark waved before also continuing his walk around the capital
'That guy is almost definitely a npc, he just spilled a bunch of important information out of nowhere...but he seems nice i guess' Ren thinks as he crossed the gate

here it is, another chapter of the superman fanfic that I have been really liking writing for and I will try to make the next chapter longer than this one
someone said that I should focus on only one of my shield hero fanfics, and while I understand that sentiment and I have planned on giving the superman fanfic priority one I also feel that this person has a problem with me only writing shield hero fanfics, the reason I do this is because shield hero is the easiest fanfic to write and the only one I have ever finished writing a chapter for as I tried to write my hero and a spiderman fanfic but never got around to finishing them eventually scrapping the chapters, Isekai's are easier to write in the beginning and since I got addicted to shield hero during the pandemic of 2020 (thanks to my brother who wouldn't shut up about it) I eventually got to watch the anime and liking a bit of it but still felt that had parts i didn't like and feeling I could change them, so basically I will keep writing shield hero fanfics until I get around to writing a fanfiction of something else that I'm satisfied enough to finish ( if you think 3 shield hero fanfics is too much, I had written another 4 shield hero fanfics that I never got to finish the first chapter with only one not being a crossover fanfiction, although I may revisit one of them in the future if I get the time to do that)
I hope that I'm handling well superman here as the story of shield hero wasn't build to allow a optimistic and hope full character like superman, the original story has many plot beats to make naofumi a awful person but as I think everyone reading can see, superman doesn't let the trial cloud his judgement as unlike naofumi, clark is able to handle the situation and keeps his morals strong no matter what
there is the problem of power creep but honestly when I made this fanfic I didn't care about it, the point here is seeing how superman being the shield hero would affect the world and narrative, yeah superman will have a easy time in the world of shield hero but that doesn't mean that he won't have challenges as superman can win against any physical challenge you throw at him but political and moral challenges are different as by just helping other countries he is changing the political environment of the entire planet or in the case of slavery where he can't just punch a guy and stop the whole thing, this is the challenge of writing this fanfic and it has been very fun to write around the original story using this thought process
To NexusPrime14: I'm not really gonna go in that direction sorry, I feel like that would mean that raphtalia undermines her parents and that just isn't in character for her, the amount of good memories she had along with the trauma of seeing her own parents sacrifice themselves and being mauled by the wave dog is not something she could just move on easily as shown in the original story (even if it was handled okay in my opinion) there is no doubt that superman could help her recover from that but she wouldn't start to develop romantic feelings about him nor she would see him as her new father. superman would bring out the best in raphtalia like he does to a lot of people because in the end of the day superman is sometimes depicted as the living embodiment of hope and human spirit
To Fastflash97: sorry if the trial didn't go in superman's favor but we all know that the trial was rigged against the shield hero from the beginning, plus Aultcray would never give the shield hero a fair trial as the hatred he has for him is massive
To ceroxon: 1 I have said that this superman is not any specific version but the closest one would be the one from the death of superman, I understand what you say completely but the story of shield hero requires for the characters to kill to grow stronger and that's something I can't avoid even if I try, Superman will fight monsters and they will die as a result but I don't plan on having him kill any human or demi human, also Clark will be mostly fighting really strong monsters or wave monster's ( Galileo is a instance where he will fight against the dragon but will not kill him as he shows being reasonable and able to be talked with)
2 the story of the shield hero has slavery being one of the main plot devices of the series as naofumi abuses of it when he finds out about it (another one of the reasons I don't like naofumi as a character), is so deep and important to the story that makes removing it from any fanfic almost impossible, I plan on tackling this in the raphtalia chapter as best as I can but keep in mind that I can't change every single aspect of it but it should be obvious that superman will not use or have any slaves in this story
3 the pope is fucked even if Clark doesn't over hears the church's evil plans, as Clark can beat him single handed and as the story goes we will see the impact that the man of steel will have on the church simply by existing
To blueassassin996: the other heroes never saw this good deeds or heard about them so their opinions don't change, however I made Ren a bit suspicious about the trial after Clark's attempts to get a fair one, this is not gonna be super important or relevant to the story later on (at best Ren will doubt the king's judgement/ bias against the shield) but I put in there because I feel that the other three heroes were handled poorly in the original story, adding this little things help's develop them but that depends on the story really as there is always gonna have one of them that will be more antagonistic given specific changes like events or people (look at the reprise of the spear hero for example or even the motherly hero)
To monkeypaw: really? I didn't get that impression when I first wrote it, but now that I think about it is something I do when I write the first chapter of these fanfics as in the motherly hero I ended up doing the same thing but I later added a bonus chapter focused on how the three heroes reacted to toriel, sorry if I gave you that impression of the chapter and I hope you will continue to read the story (or else this message was kinda pointless)
to tempace: good suggestions although I will not be able to write them as I have the motherly hero, cardinal turtles and S stands for Shield to write so unfortunately I can't write a amphibia or owl house fanfic but maybe once I'm done with one of these I could try and write a chapter for the amphibia one as the idea sounds fun (i would have to rewatch both series as I haven't watch them in a while)
