Cards & warnings
Okay everybody as usual this chapter was written way before the first chapter, also I don't own any of type-moon or their properties. Oh yeah, the bird cage, it's just a bird cage Zelretch sent to troll. Just to be clear the original Alexander has nothing to do with the card. And I don't really have anything else to say. Enjoy!
Friday, September 29th 2000, Sliver residents.
Zelretch still holding out the card, extends his hand, only to pull it back when Alexander reaches for it. "Alexander, before I give this to you, I want you to understand, this card is not something to be taken lightly, you must never install it, your body is not prepared for it. Do you understand?" Alexander worried asks "What do you mean unprepared?" looking at Alexander with a very serious expression, he says
"This card, is a Servant card. It contains the power of a heroic-spirt, while stripped of its ego. It still holds a fragment of its soul if someone unprepared used it they would have their own soul overridden and probably die in horrible pain." He answers while grimacing, making Alexander very worried having never seen Zelretch like this. "Why do you want me to study it, it seems like you already know a lot?" Alexander questions confused.
Holding up the card Zelretch begins his explanation with. "Because, while I have encounter cards like this, they only fall under the seven servant classes, Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. This one falls under the extra class of Avenger, something that shouldn't be impossible, as the Avenger class was added to the holy grail war during the third war." he says finishing his answer, nodding not understanding what he just heard fully Alexander says
"So because it should be impossible for this card to exist you want me to study it?" Nodding his head Zelretch says "Yes, to be exact, I need you to figure out its origin, and the servant's identity." he says listing the things needed to be done. Holding out the card, this time letting Alexander take it. Activating his circuits, the second he grabs it, he uses Structal analysis on the card, getting nothing, he didn't already hear, and unknowingly making a connection with the card.
Handing Alexander a leather case filled with runes on the inside, Zelretch warns "Don't let that card ever leave your side, this case will prevent any prana from leaking out of the card, making sure no one figures out what you have." he says nodding Alexander turns off his circuits and places the card inside the case. Remembering something Alexander asks
"Zelretch, what's with the bird cage?" he asks still not at all convinced that the bird cage is more than it seems. Looking at Alexander he says "The bird cage, that was a gift you gave your fiancé." hearing this Alexander nods before processing exactly what he heard and shoots up and shouts "What?!" to the now empty seat Zelretch having already left.
Alexander having something more important to deal with than finding Zelretch for answers does something he has been doing a lot of lately and sighs to himself before entering the house, specifically the basement, and begins his work dealing with the card.
Alexander spends the next two hours studying the card and making next to no progress on anything related to it. Needing a break Alexander packs the card away and places it on his person in a place he won't lose it.
Heading up stairs, entering the kitchen Alexander pays no mind to Luvia sitting their drinking her tea, "Zelretch arrives today." Luvia states still drowsy from studying late. Pouring some coffee Alexander remarks "He already did." This woke her up, turning towards Alexander she asks "He did, what was the Item?"
Taking a sip, Alexander replies with "A servant card" Luvia unfamiliar with the phrase asks "Servant card? Would it have something to do with the Holy grail war?" Nodding Alexander answers with "Yep, apparently it holds the power of a heroic spirit."
"Hm, that does make sense, considering what I've read, your other self is an expert on Heroic Spirits" Luvia remarks, before going back to her breakfast. Sighing once more Alexander says "Yeah but that's him, I don't have nearly the same amount of knowledge about this." He says, before taking out the card and looking at it.
"I don't think there's a single person alive who knows what goes on in Zelretch's head." Luvia says, still to drowsy to fully be a part of the conversation. Not replying Alexander just drinks his coffee, attempting to wrap his head around it. Finishing his coffee Alexander sighs at having to go back and do more research.
And for the next few hours, Alexander goes through every process he can think of, going back and forth between Using Structal Analysis and reading through history books for people who could qualify as an Avenger class servant, during this time he exhausted himself to the point of him falling asleep at his desk.
Slowly waking up with a yawn, Alexander looks to his watch to see how long has passed, seeing how late it actually is he looks back to the card, and sighs Remembering Zelretch's instructions Alexander grabs the card and brings it with him to his room, tired he doesn't bother to change his clothes. And flops into bed and passes out with the card not properly secured inside the container.
A few days later, Monday, October 2nd 2000.
Alexander having spent the last three days in the same routine, of attempting to understand the cards origin and identity, has so far made little progress. Waking up from a very strange dream Alexander momentarily disregards it before remembering something in one of his books, rushing to the library he looks through books before he finds one on the Heaven's Feel ritual, grabbing it he flips through the pages till he reaches a specific one.
Servant and master characteristics
One of the greatest occurrences that happen to mostly Masters of the Fuyuki grail war is what I like to refer to as the Dream Cycle, in their sleep Masters view the past of their Servants, while Servants also can see this due to them not sleeping its far rarer for them to. The purpose for such a thing is to increases empathy with your servant allowing greater teamwork and understanding. Doesn't help much since most Masters are Magnus's and the general behavior of Magnus makes working with certain servants difficult.
Finishing with the short passage, Alexander immediately grabs a note book and starts writing down all he can remember, from the dream. Heading down to the guest room he knocks on the door, a just woken up Luvia opens the door, and Alexander asks her a question immediately.
"Do you know where the nearest public library is?" he says eagerly, confused Luvia looks at him and asks "No but I can have someone figure that out, why do you ask?" very giddy at finally having a lead he says. "I have an idea on the cards identity" Surprised Luvia asks "what is it?" she asks prodding for information, Alexander noticing but not caring answers "You know how Masters experience dreams of their servants' lives?" A nod, "I had one, in it I was looking through the servants' eyes, he was carrying a M1 Garand."
"You are going to have to explain what that is." Luvia says not knowing what a Garand is, nodding he says "The M1 Garand is a semi-automatic rifle, that was a stander issue weapon among the allies during World War 2, meaning the servant is likely a soldier from WW2, and considering he was going after a mage, he was likely one himself." Alexander says fully explain it to Luvia, nodding in understanding she says "So you would like to check the records for the soldiers participating, to narrow down the identity of the servant."
"Yes, hopefully with more dreams I can narrow it down even more." Alexander says slightly calming down from his exactment. Letting out a small yawn Luvia says "Okay I'll inform one of my maids to locate and arrange for your travel to the library." Smiling Alexander says "Thanks' Luvia, though I probably won't find anything useful there." he says his upbeat tone changing at the last part of his sentence. Luvia Takes Alexanders hand in a supportive manner and says "This is only the first step, do not place too much doubt in yourself." Alexander looking confused just nods before going up to get ready and dressed.
Once finished Alexander heads outside to find, a very fancy car sitting there, getting inside the vehicle Alexander heads to the public library, and much like he said earlier, he doesn't find anything useful, but he does get a library card, and checks out a few books with possible leads. Not that he can actually narrow down who they are with such a large list, and the little information he has.
So Alexander ends the night having only narrowed down the list of Candidates to possible everyone who, fought in WW2. Now Tuesday morning, Alexander is still asleep as the morning sun barley peers through the windows, Alexander unlike last night jolts awake and grasps his mid-section and gasps for air, breathing heavily, Alexander upon finishing his morning workouts, goes into the library, quietly as to not awaken the still sleeping Luvia.
Going through the list of names, and comparing it to many newspapers around 1945, looking for any corresponding names, sighing when he realizes he's going to have to do this with not only the rest of England but also the rest of the Allies. "Why couldn't it just be Edmond Dantes, that would make it so much easier" Alexander says with a harsher tone than usual. Throwing the Newspaper on another chair, he grabs another one and continues this process.
Alexander leaning back in the chair, reaches for his watch, not finding it in his pocket he looks towards a clock on the wall to see how long has passed. Turning his gaze to the door, Alexander calls out "So you planning to come in or?" Hearing this a now awake Luvia enters the room and sits by Alexander. "Was your rest eventful?" Nodding Alexander says "Yep, found out he killed himself." Luvia not bothered at all asks "Where there any other identifying things around him?"
"He killed himself with his own Bayonet, there were flowers around him I think." Alexander says struggling to Remember much. Nodding Luvia asks, "Hm, have you considered that the Heroic spirt represents the soldiers who fought in the war as a whole?" Alexander hearing this shakes his head and says "Not possible, Abstract concepts and fictions should not be able to become Servants."
Hiding the look on confusion on her face Luvia says, "Servants can be anything, regardless of if their real or fiction." Snapping his head towards Luvia very quickly Alexander asks "Wait they can?" Nodding her head Luvia says "Yes, During the third grail war, my ancestor wrote that the Berserker servant was the representation of the wolf from little red riding hood, fairly weak servant aside its possible for Heroic spirits to be anything."
Hearing this new information Alexander sighs deeply having his work greatly increased, with this new information. Getting up Luvia says "You should get ready, Lord El Melloi's class will start soon" nodding Alexander continues reading through the newspapers.
Line break
Making his way through the hallways of the clock tower after El Melloi the second's class was canceled due to him being out of town. So now Alexander is heading towards his most hated class, necromancy. To be clear he hates this class because he finds it inefficient, also the moral impactions of weaponizing corpses. Alexander so focused on his hatred of the class fails to notice the fact of almost everyone else in the hallway suddenly parting for something till he almost crashes into them.
Barley avoiding the slightly taller woman, quickly observing her, brown hair pulled into a pony tail, with a metal gauntlet on her right hand. Leaves Alexander with no idea who she is. The woman clearly insulted by Alexander's actions glares at him deeply, clearly trying to frighten him, but Alexander has absolutely no idea who she is, or how scared he should actually be. So he does the most idiotic thing he could do, and stands his ground.
Clearly even more annoyed at Alexander's action the woman's asks "Are you aware of who I am?" Alexander having absolutely no idea replies with "No. Barthomeloi, Lorelei." clearly appalled at Alexander immediately contradicting himself, says "Is this your attempt, at annoying me?" once more very confused Alexander says "How is not knowing who you are annoying you?" the now named Lorelei, glare at Alexander and says "You said my name in your first response." Very confused Alexander lets it show.
Very pissed, the Barthomeloi, Planning on intimidating Alexander further, grabs a riding crop at her side and points it to His throat moments after a gun is pointed at her own head. "I'm guessing that riding crop is a mystic-code" Alexander says not fully prepared for the hostile actions he's now undergoing. And so they stand their at least till Alexander suddenly turns his attention to the spot where Zelretch now stands
"Alexander, you should be in Necromancy right now, not picking fights with the queen of the clock tower." He scolds like a parent would, Alexander turning back to him still holding a gun to the head of Lorelei, and realizing how close to dying he was, quickly puts the Gun away.
"I would like to apologize for my actions, except I'm not sorry at all." Alexander says, pissing off the barthomeloi even more, preparing to attack, Zelretch halts her saying, "Ah, lady Barthomeloi, I must ask you do not kill my enforcer, he's still needed for various tasks." Giving the magician a cold look, she says "Very well," before turning to Alexander, "Do know the only reason I'm not dealing with you myself, is because I'm sure, working for it, will bring you more suffering than I ever could."
Leaving Alexander and Zelretch behind, Alexander says "So? Kind of a bitch, right?" Letting out a huge laugh Zeltretch says "Alexander, you remind me of him more with each passing day." finished with his laughing Zelretch snaps his fingers, sending Alexander, disappearing before finding himself at an empty place in a cemetery, in what appears to be English country side, leaving Alexander with no idea where he actually is.
Seeing the small town down the hill from the cemetery Alexander sighs before heading down to the town in order to find a way back to London. Entering the quite empty town, Alexander goes to the house closest to the cemetery, surveying the area, Alexander notices the fresh tire tracks, clicking his tongue Alexander, Stops before doing it again, looking back to the house he mumbles under his breath.
"I swear if Zelretch sent me to a necromancer." he says before slowly entering the house, to see it completely empty, quickly searching the house Alexander finds nothing, Leaving the property he looks around for anything interesting, seeing a garage, he goes inside finding what is clearly a hearse.
Sighing once more Alexander says "Well, on one hand stealing, on the other Zelretch... Stealing it is." Alexander says holding a hand to the car's lock "Mend," starting his chant and turning his circuits on "Bend," He says filling the lock with prana finding the cracks in the lock. "Rend," He says purposely filling the lock with prana wrong, causing the entire lock to shatter. "End, Agh! Fuck!" he says ending his trance and just now feeling the feedback from the lock exploding.
Opening the door, Alexander checks the mirror for keys, not finding any he takes off a panel and starts messing with some wires, Hearing the engine start due to his successfully hot wiring the car, Alexander sits upright, and sighs to himself. "Okay not your first time driving, don't crash." putting the car in gear Alexander drives off in his stolen hearse.
Omake, Servant summoning 1 part two.
Medea wasn't sure what to make of her mas- summoner, He clearly wasn't telling her the full truth but he was willing to let her have free reign over this grail war only giving the caster suggests and some advice on how to adapt to the modern world.
Medea currently looking towards Alexander who was taking an alternate route to the temple, taking the far longer route because of some gold asshole being on the other route, she looks around in wonder of the world without the gods who ruined her.
"Enjoying the scenery?" Alexander says calmly walking by a few obscure shops, Medea walking along side Alexander in modern clothes says "More so a world absents of the gods." Nodding Alexander putting his arms behind his head says "Yeah the Greek pantheon was full of assholes and Rapist, not that I ever really believed in the concept of a god."
"Speaking of god, shouldn't we go to the church to report you summoning me?" Alexander looking at Medea responds with "Yeah the bastard running the church, is not only the father of Her, but also not impartial and he kept his servant from the last heaven's feel" Alexander says putting emphasis on the word her.
Stopping in her tracks the caster asks "He did what?!" clearly surprised Alexander looks at her and says "Yeah he kept the archer servant, we surprisingly don't have to worry about it too much, either Saber's or Rider's summoners will deal with Gil, for our sakes though let's hope it's Saber's."
"How do you know this much about the grail war?" Medea asks very shocked, Alexander scratching the back of his head says "Well According to Zelretch I have Clairvoyance, kind of weird considering I'm fully human."
Taken aback at hearing this Medea says "What?" Stopping at some corner, Alexander holds up his hand signaling her to stop.
"Okay Medea we're either perfectly safe are very screwed." Looking very concerned, the caster prepares the best spell she can, as Alexander looks around the corner before sighing in relief. "It's okay it's just Emiya"
"What was the other option?" She says curious about what could have made him so worried, Alexander looking back at her says "Emiya."
And that's it, a continuation of the servant summoning omake, as well as introducing more characters, just to be clear this Omake is writing with the original Alexander being the summoner, and the clairvoyance is his excuse for knowing so much about fate.
