During the night, it was always crowded in Konoha.
Known as the city that never slept, lights gleaming endlessly into the streets, people shouting in the busied night crowd, cars honking to quicken the pace of traffic, the perfect city for the younger generation that was slowly taking over. Once a city run by elders, many years ago, now a rich metropolis of culture, history, money, and the start of a new modern era bringing nothing but trouble. The current political leaders set in their ways to keep the name and money flowing in to show the city it's true power, the new heads of the most powerful clans there to aid in their rule in the background, to hide their secrets, to calm the public who didn't know.
It was reported Monday afternoon the man, a distant member of the Shimura clan, Dai Shimura, was shot in a failed assassination attempt at his life, the suspect unknown. He had been given a campaign speech at town hall, his new idea for installing peace among their rivaling nation, now a big headline the sympathetic people finding meaning behind his hateful words. He wanted war, and surprisingly many wanted to side with him. The man was dirty, dirty for what he preached, his proposition, though sounding appealing to the public, was to take an alliance with their neighboring nation of Iwagakure, the capital of the Land of Earth, known enemy of the Wind country. To ally with them would mean the end of the Land of Wind, their capital Suna to be forced into a democracy system, under a Konoha and Iwa rule, as they had been ruling under a dictatorship for years now, created by the Late Kazekage, Rasa Sabakuno.
Though the alliance that Suna and Konoha has had in the past year was a bumpy relationship at best, the two young leaders of the nations have worked hard to keep open minds and discussions at a manageable level. The new Kazekage, Gaara of the Sand they called him, still sought peace with Konoha, even if their views were different. With their slow and delicate change in power the Late Kazekage's youngest son had proven beneficial for both nations, seeing as he sought change in the Suna hierarchy, but old wounds healed wrong after Rasa's assassination, his three children, now adults, guiding the bitter start of a stronger alliance between the nations. With Gaara in charge and his siblings hiding behind him, out of the public eye, mostly, they were keeping their family in power, keeping their secrets behind their walls.
The attempt on Dai's life, a week ago, had resulted in an eight-hour long surgery, a success as he'd been shot in the shoulder and not his heart. Recovering in the ICU in the Leaf's hospital, Dai had reporters in and out of his room for days, even weakened, he attempted to appeal to the public to tell them war was worth it, that the failure to kill him would only spur him further into the cause.
Lying back in his bed the sly grin never left him, with the sympathetic public now on his side, the shot had done more for him than he could with his speech alone, the consequences only seen by the elites. The Konoha intelligence division, a secret government funded lab, meant for cleaning up the messes of the politicians, and other things.
Consisted to be the most powerful and influential clan heads and their members, the leaders now were once children of the most revered men and women to ever lead in the aid of keeping the Hokage strong and their cities free from the horrors that hid behind closed door. This time it happened to be cleaning up the headlines of the start of a war, a way to stop the sudden panic Dai had caused, he'd turned on his clan to start his own push for Hokage and it didn't sit well with the other lower ranked clans, well not all. Some agreed with him, war was good, it would bring peace by force, instead of the slow political push and pull of the leaders trying to gain trust with the other. He wanted quick and easy, even if it meant doing it in a dirty way, by betraying them.
The children of those legacies would clean it up, as peacefully as they could, they always did.
3:06 am, Saturday Morning
The emergency room at three am on a Saturday morning was short staffed, empty, and looked more like a morgue than a place of healing. The only patients inside were a man with a broken leg, having fallen down his steps in the middle of the night, a woman who had a heart attack and was being assessed in the triage room, and a drunk woman. Her hair cut in a black bob hairstyle and clad in a strapless tight black dress, a night life classic, that hugged her curvy body well, riding to high up her thighs, laughing as she placed a hand to the doctor's shoulder, as if he'd told her a joke.
"I'm drunk" she stated her words slurring as she swayed her legs like a child while sitting on the bed. The doctor assigns to her case, a young surgical resident, groaned as he attempted to hold her arm for an IV, this was his third drunk of the night for him.
"I can see that miss, please sit still" he attempted to still her arm to insert the IV but she pulled back hugging it with the other "Miss you have to sit still so I can do my job" he muttered annoyingly.
"Listen Dr. hmm" she squinted her mascara smeared teal eyes at his name tag. The doctor now impatient spoke.
"Dr. Kikuchi" he offered, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose, irritated that he had gotten this case and not the heart attack victim, he wanted to learn medicine, not deal with drunks.
"Yes Kiki" she giggled to herself, before pointing to the needle in his hand "That looks scary, no way is it going into my body"
"What did you say your name was, again?" he crossed his arms waiting for her, she pouted lost in thought for a second, eyes searching behind him before she grinned then raised her finger as if she knew.
"No idea" she chimed happily, he groaned and dragged a hand over his eyes "but I'm late" with a crooked grin, she stood wobbly on her red heels, yet walked with a certain confidence. Dr. Kikuchi blinked at her, perplexed, taking a moment to watch her stumble away down the hall, a moment to stare at the curvaceous figure she had, before snapping out of his daze and shouting.
"Ma'am you can't- oh for Pete's sake not again" He groaned and began to follow her "Ma'am you have to let me do my job" he called out after her. The woman slowed swayed slightly and holding herself against a closet door and when he reached her, she turned around.
The sudden struggle was short, she pushed him into the supply closet, a firm grip into his throat, he struggled, she knocked his head back into the wall, once, he groaned, twice, he shut his eyes, out cold. The woman let him drop to the ground, he was passed out, bleeding from the back of the head, perfect, she didn't need him dead, but it didn't bother her. She glanced around the dark room, searching for a light switch, a short struggle to find the door, she lit the room up in a dim light and hummed to herself, a foreign tune, busying herself as she began to readjust her look.
She took out her sleeves from the sides of her dress and slipped her arms through the , adjusting the collar of the short-sleeved v neck dress. Next, she lowered her dress down to rest just above her knees, looking more professional, like she belonged here and not at a club. Reaching in between her breasts she pulled out lipstick and a cloth she had hid in there and began to spread the red lipstick neatly on her lips, searching the room as she popped her lips before stepping over the doctors' legs, paused, and lowered herself to take his glasses with a smirk.
"Guess you won't be needing these" Turning back she wiped the cloth under her eyes, the smudge cleaned up, turning the makeup into a dark smokey eye, and put the glasses on, squinting for a moment before lowering them to be able to see above the frame, slipping the cloth to the side of her bra. Crouching, keeping her knees together she took his doctor's coat off and patted his cheek "Thanks Kiki, but I've got some loose ends to tie up, you know how kids are these days, they mess up sometimes" With a deep breath she put on the doctor's coat and left the closet then began to walk down the hall, confident, certain, pleased with herself at the ease of it all.
This mission was needed.
She made her way down the halls as if she knew every turn and corner, like she'd been working here for years, and no one could question her for it. Searching the empty halls she passed a nurse, both exchanging a smile in greeting before she continued on, undetected. Stepping into the elevator at the end of the hall, she clicked for the fourth floor and leaned back against the wall waiting. Stopping on the third floor a pair of doctors walked in, a pair of men, talking to each other.
"I might as well take a nap in the on-call room after this, there's no way I'll make it home to the wife and kids" the tall shaggy brown-haired one said, sounding tired and worn after his surgery, entering beside his companion.
"A nine-hour surgery can do that for you" the second, a black-haired man, hair cut short and neatly slicked back nudged his friend with a chuckle, teasing him "bet she'll be mad at you again for working overtime" They turned to look into the elevator and halted for a moment. The woman looked over the frame of her glasses at them as they entered each taking a second to nod in greeting before the black haired on clicked for the first floor, seemingly distracted in the matter. The ride was short, though she caught both of them glancing her way, each time meeting them with a quiet teal gaze. When the doors opened, she pushed from the wall, walking between them and exited the elevator, glancing back with a small grin, the men watched, leaning towards each other to watch her move away as the doors shut.
The walk continued, her hands slipped into her coat pockets as she glanced from one room number to another, 401, 403, 405, She smirked as she slipped into 407. The room dark, aside from the emergency light that showed her the way to the exit. Flicking it on, she heard the groan and grumble of the waking man lying in the hospital bed, recovering.
"Damn it, don't you nurses know that people are sleeping" The man groaned, covering his eyes with his arm. The woman walked in making sure to shut the door behind her.
"Sorry sir" her voice apologetic and professional "but it's time for your medication" she came to the side of his bed and looked at the monitors, checking to see their status, each within normal range, how disappointing she thought. The surgery had been successful.
"At this time, it can't be morning yet" he grumbled pulling his arm down, ready to show how pissed it made him to be disturbed. He looked to her and opened his mouth" honestly all of you doc-" he quickly shutting it when she looked down to him and gave a small grin, looking pleasant, appealing, enticing him to look.
"Doctors orders I'm afraid" she hummed and turned back walking to the medicine cart in the back of the room, searching for a syringe and some gloves, aware of the stare behind her, in the same movement she slipped her hand into her dress again, taking out a small clear fluid vile.
"Who are you?" he called to her as she turned back to his bedside "You're not my regular doctor"
"I'm your new doctor, Mr. Shimura" she smirked "Dr. Kikuchi" she took the cap off the syringe and stuck it into the vile.
"What's that?" he pointed to the vile, questioning, this man sure could play a game of twenty questions.
"Just some muscle relaxer" she set the vile down and flicked the side of the syringe "wouldn't want to have you in pain now, would we?" she looked down to him, the self-righteous smile that he gave her, the look, forced her to sharply inhale to calm herself.
"Well getting shot wasn't exactly a part of my political campaign" he began arrogantly "but to be surrounded by such loyal and pleasant" he smirked "and beautiful people all day long might have been worth it" he winked to her.
"It was so awful to hear about what happened to you" she said dryly, faking an interest in the speech while she searched for his IV.
"Figured that with Suna and Konoha starting their dispute again I could manage some of that pressure off our Hokage, you know show them I could be more of an asset" he chuckled, no remorse for wanting to declare the war "But guess it just made those communist bastards angrier"
"Well, you survived, didn't you?" she bit her tongue, keeping herself quiet as she slipped the end of the needle into the IV drip, and the first clear drop began.
"It'll be good for the people of our country to see their leaders well and alive, we can't have a dictatorship as an ally it's just" he paused and laid back his brows furrowing in his sudden weakness "Hey what's in this stuff, I'm getting lightheaded" he slurred.
"Like I said, muscle relaxer" The woman kept a firm chilling gaze down at him.
"Why did you give it to me?" he began to cough "I feel worse suddenly" with a smack of her lips she sighed, waiting not her favorite thing to do, but poison required patience.
"It gets worse before it gets better, at least most optimistic people say that" she mused and smiled, the sides of her blood red lips turning up.
"I'm, I can't" he coughed, straining to breath normally as he gaped up at her, her grin widening at his plea for help, cold teal gaze looking down at him past the frames as he struggled to speak "Who" he managed as she leaned down towards his ear, whispering for the camera in his room to never hear.
"Suna sends its regards, you bastard" Turning, the short black hair caressing her cheeks in the movement, hiding her face from being seen, the woman hummed happily past the erratic beeping monitors around her, taking her leave with calm grace.
The nurses and doctors outside began to rush past her to Dai's room, unaware of where the woman had come from. She continued down the hall, a new path taken, towards the blind spots that her brother had created for her.
At the end of the hall, the exit a few feet before her, she began slipping the doctors coat off her shoulders and shrugged the white coat off, the wig following quickly after, golden layered sandy hair slipping past her shoulders, bangs gracing her face. Pulling the glasses off her nose she grabbed the cloth from earlier and wiped the lipstick off, leaving a faint pink tint to her lips. The lab coat in one arm, she glanced back at the empty halls, before turning to a nearby trash can and shoving it inside, followed by the glasses, thinking to herself poor guy is going to be blind for a while, unless he was dead. One last step and she lowered the dress collar showing bare shoulders and in a split-second decision decided to adjust the front of the dress, making the space between her breast more prominent, not that she needed to.
With her mission a success, she exited the hospital and merged into the crowded city of Konoha.
7:48 am, Monday.
Status: Mission start, leading agent Shikamaru Nara.
Mission: infiltrate Iwa Embassy.
Code Name: On the Rocks.
Thin lips gripped the edge of the lit cigarette, dark eyes glaring into the black and white screens in the black van parked two blocks outside of the Iwa Embassy in Konoha. The images on the screens, hallways of the intricate foreign building, now one of the newer additions to Konoha's skyline. The ambassadors sent to hold peace protected in their fortress.
Beside him a blonde and a pink haired woman sat looking through the screens, before handing him a small earpiece.
"Alright, you ready Shikamaru?" the blonde turned to him and glared at his uneven tie.
"Clearly he isn't" The pink haired woman mumbled as she turned to him fixing the loose tie neatly to his neck and then the readjusting collar over it. He grunted slipping the earpiece in place, so small you could barely notice it in his ear.
"Well, if someone" he glared at the pink haired woman, who rolled her eyes as he continued "let me sleep instead of forcing me to plan some last-minute stake out last night, I would be more awake for this" He pulled the cigarette from his lips and yawned, taking very little interest in covering his mouth. The blonde scoffed and snatched the cigarette from his hand "Come on Ino, at least let me have some pleasure in life if I can't sleep in every now and then" he grumbled slicking his loose hair back, before tying half of it up, leaving the rest to lie against his neck.
"Not with that attitude" She snapped at him "Plus me and Sakura have to sit in this van that smells like a damn ashtray now"
"Not my fault you two were all we had for surveillance on this mission" He fired back half heartedly, his childhood friend so easy to piss off.
"You're a jackass in the morning" Ino hissed like a child calling him a name, he sighed.
"Yet you still talk to me every morning. It's really a drag for me" Shikamaru muttered dryly, uninterested in speaking further. Ino growed and went to snap a second time, but Sakura cut her off.
"Alright you two, leave the fighting for later, you'd think after knowing each other for twenty-three years you'd be more friendlier with one another, sheesh" Sakura turned Ino's head to look back into the screen, the protest from her going unnoticed, as Sakura turned to looked at Shikamaru, unfazed by her words "you know your mission Shikamaru, the key card is the only way into the Tschukage's office" he nodded, it was his plan yet she was explaining it to him, she needed more coffee he thought almost amused at her future instructions "get the information we need to see if Dai and the Iwa diplomats had planned anything against the council of Suna, we can't have any more problems with them, they are way to stuck in their old ways, and it's already enough that Naruto is attempting to smooth over the past six months of Dai's public nonsense"
"What's the point he's dead now" Ino muttered, ignored again.
"As I was saying" Sakura continued "his murder at the hospital on Saturday is causing to much public interest. People are panicking and we need to make sure we can rule out Iwa as the ones who poisoned him" Shikamaru nodded once, he knew the plan better than her, but he'd at least attempt to act more interested, she wasn't exactly the friendliest woman when she got mad, and Ino was enough for today's list of people pissed at him. Scratch that Tsunade, his boss, was also pissed, why, because a lower ranked political head was dead from a successful breach in security at the hospital, and it was apparently his fault for not catching it sooner.
"We know it's a woman" Ino turned back around seemingly in a better mood as she went into her thoughts. Leaning against the back of the chair, taking interest in the mission again, but casting him a glare still for his sour mood "She had to have had disguised herself since the camera's cut off as soon as she left the room and we didn't see where she escaped. Probably had outside help" Shikamaru shut his eyes, his hands linking together at the tips of his fingers and began pondered over the surveillance he saw last night, sent by the security of the hospital to his team. A woman had come in drunk, stumbling and slurring in a annoyingly high pitched voice. The last image of her laughing in the emergency room, then a few short clips of a doctor with a similar hairstyle in the elevator. Shino had been able to decrypt those, but the rest was near impossible or as he had said, coded to perfection where a bug couldn't even break the wall.
The two doctors they had interrogated, Kiba and Choji in charge of that, said they saw her walk away and something about her looking pretty. Then the trail went cold. The final image of her leaning into Dai Shimura with a smile as he struggled to breath, words unheard, her face, her eyes, unseen under the hair. His death a cocktail of deadly poisonous muscle relaxers so strong it stopped his entire body, lungs, heart, and brain. He was unable to survive a dose that strong and had a stroke, so this woman knew her poison well, now where did it originate from?
Who was she?
He found the whole thing odd, but he was simply waiting to make his move, a small one for now, that being the intel mission about to commence. Opening his eyes, the two women before him watched his meditated state closely, before his uneasy glare turned their eyes away.
"Why do you guys always watch me when I'm thinking. It's annoying" he sighed loosening his tie slightly, uncomfortable at the stares.
"Because usually after you do that, something smart come falling out your mouth" Sakura shrugged, before she began typing out something to a laptop on the side of the screens, a message to the others already inside and waiting for their cue.
"Or stupid" Ino stuck her tongue out and grinned as she turned back to the screen "Alright let's get moving lazy" Shikamaru ignored the taunt with a roll of his eyes and stood from the bench in the van, heading to the sliding door.
"Keep an eye out for my front, I don't want to cause any more trouble than we have to, this whole day is already a drag" he muttered and slipped out the van, Ino slamming it behind him. Her cranky mood ignored, he looked down both sides of the alleyway they had parked in before turning right, slipping his hands in his pockets and walking to the end of the ally and onto the sidewalk, merging with the morning crowd of suits and ties headed to work.
He was now just a normal man.
The embassy of the country of Earth was built of just that, earth. Exported cream colored marble and shiny stone shipped from Iwa a few years back when they decided to settle with attempting peace with the country of Fire, built in only six months due to the haste they proposed, yet it's been nearly two years and things were still shaky with them, well just about every nation after the third Great War had ended nearly a decade ago. Suna had the most progress in the past year though, since the new ruling Kazekage was more than willing to trade with their nation, and seek a relationship with Naruto Uzumaki, their current Hokage, was more than happy to take it as a sign of good fate. So much for all that effort when half of Konoha's council found the thought of a dictatorship as an ally unusual and something that would never work.
He could see why it wouldn't work, Gaara had never left his capital, the rumored siblings he had never showed when it came to visiting the Hokage and the diplomats that did come rarely spoke unless they had orders from the leader himself, they were too cautious, too careful in a foreign land. Guess they'd have to try harder, Naruto after all trusted in Tsunade and her intel team to keep Dai under control, and when he got shot last week, after his unannounced speech, the scolding he and his team got was beyond the usual rage his boss would instill on them, it was their fault he had spoken about possible war after all. So much for being the legacy children of the previous peacekeepers, trained from the moment they were born to protect Konoha and its people, its next generation of strong leaders who sought peace among nations had failed.
"Your jacket sir, you can't take it through the scanner" Breaking from his thoughts, he glanced over at the security guard, a woman his age, dark chocolate hair tied up in two neat buns, her smile small and faint as she outstretched her arm. He sighed, seeming annoyed to the people behind him, and shrugged the simple black suit jacket off handing it to the woman. She turned away as he moved forward slipping his watch and belt off before passing the scanner without issue. The woman waited on the other side with a subtle nod and handed back his jacket after he'd put his watch and belt back on "Have a good day sir" you as well, Tenten he thought, but outwardly continued on his way ignoring her, the slight weight in his jacket a good sign, she successfully handed him his weapon, a small handgun, and judging by the slight clink a silencer.
Continuing on he glanced from one side of the main hall to the other, looking from the marble desks to the green carpeted walkways, the symbols of the earth everywhere they could put it, decorating walls, the front of the check-in desks, and even the stairs as they led to the second and third floor. Guess these guys really liked slapping their mark on something, even when Konoha built it for them.
Turning from the main hall he went towards the restrooms, two men were occupied inside while he came to stand before the mirror in front of the sinks. He could really use more sleep, he thought while washing his hands and glaring at the darkened circles under his eyes.
One of the men behind him had finished and walked to the sink beside his, a heavier set man whistling a happy tune as he washed his hands and patted them dry at his sides, something slipping out of his pocket as he turned and left. Shikamaru glanced back at the other man, leaving without noticing the item or washing his hands, not his problem but gross for sure.
With the coast clear, he grabbed the card, a thick white sliding key card, the dark green symbol of the Earth etched into it, before he slipped it into his right pocket as he left. Choji's position successful, his hygiene appreciated.
Who knew he could plan an entire intel retrieval mission in an hour of silence, all while his team watched him like a hawk. Annoying sure, but they always looked to him for a plan and he always had one, as lazy as he was, he was a sworn protector of Konoha and its peace. It was a drag, but it was his job, his legacy, like his father before him. Without further thought he walked out and began his ascend up the stairs taking a brief glance at the security guard waiting beside the entrance into the restricted diplomat's offices, private information stored even away from their supposed allies.
"Well guess I gotta yawn now" The man murmured and glanced at him yawning obnoxiously and looked away, Shikamaru passing by without a look back, Kiba doing his part with flare at usual. As he walked, the familiar buzz in his ear started, and the annoying voice of Ino began.
"Sakura will you shut up about it geez" Ino always irritated by something buzzed in first "you're starting to dampen the mood talking about Sauske again"
"Says the woman who can't even talk to her office crush. It's been a year just ask Sai out again" Sakura shot back, her voice much distant, but the shout still heard. Shikamaru cleared his throat casually, but it silenced the two none the less to get their focus back.
"Alright, Shikamaru you want to make a right, then a left, his office will be right at the end of the hall" He answered with a short grunt in response that he understood "The halls are clear, Kiba made sure of it and" she paused Sakura muttering to her "Yup they are in their morning meeting, on who's going and coming to Konoha next month" Doing as he was told, not that he hadn't already memorized all the embassy building by heart one afternoon when he was bored, he turned right and took their word for it, it was silent and the only sound heard were faint voices in the doors he passed, closed to all who they couldn't trust. Now a left, he mused to himself, finding the mission too easy. Too easy. The unease beginning in his gut, the caution, the thought of the gun at his side flashing through his mind if something went wrong.
Turning the corner, he attempted to halt as soon as he saw the person, the crash was unexpected, and he quickly grabbed the woman's arms attempting to steady her as she fell into his chest with a rather rough collision into him causing him to take a step back and steady them both.
Something fell, a clip board and files, papers scattered everywhere between them.
The woman had yelped in surprise, the top of her brown hair the first thing he saw when he looked down to her, his hands still gripping her arms.
"You alright?" he asked when she pulled away rather hastily as if just realizing what had happened, widened teal eyes looked up to him, the woman nervous and stuttering. The unease washed down quickly, she looked harmless, shy and small, first possibly crossing his quick mind, just some assistant to one of the diplomats bringing the paperwork to the meeting and he had unexpectedly crashed right into the frazzled woman in her rush.
"Oh my, oh I'm so sorry are you alright?" She dropped herself to the ground to hastily grab at the spilled papers around her. She looked up for a second and then back down quickly, urging him to help.
"it's my fault, I'm sorry" he bent down quickly helping get ahold of the paperwork scattered around them and handing it back to her, unable to just leave her there looking like a mess over the papers, her brown hair fell over her face in her haste, hiding away from him.
"No it's mine. I'm so sorry I didn't look where I was going" she continued to stutter and ramble on, keeping her hand away from the papers he was grabbing "I was reading and wasn't looking in front of me. I'm such a klutz" she scolded herself and grabbed the last paper. He stood straight again and offered her a hand to help her up, she looked to it and instead stood on her own keeping her gaze down as she bowed her head quickly "Sorry again for the trouble sir" she quickly slipped past him hugging the messy clipboard to her chest and rushed down the hall he had come from. He watched after her for a second, the unease swallowed down along with the strange encounter. Steadying his gaze back to the mission ahead, and the sudden harsh buzz of Ino in his ear causing him to grit his teeth for a second.
"Shikamaru, you, ok? You cut off for a second and the cameras glitched too" Ino called in.
"Walked into someone" he muttered under his breath, the ear piece buzzing with white noise during the collision. He continued on listening to Ino when she returned, odd he thought again.
"That's weird, I could have sworn that hall was supposed to be cleared, Kiba made sure of it" Shikamaru glared ahead, but kept walking listening, thinking "maybe one of the meetings ended early" she mused as he continued his walk with a sigh loud enough for her to hear he heard. He reached down for his key card, finding nothing, and quickly looked down patting his pockets and growing still as he realized.
"It's gone" he muttered
"What is?" Ino asked.
"The card" he looked to the floor eyes widening, realizing as he hastily looked behind him, he heard steps, the uneasy feeling he had before returned. The sixth sense of caution.
"Don't tell me you lost it, damn it what-" he cut her off.
"No" he murmured through clenched teeth, he wasn't exactly mad, but he was getting there. Today really was a drag "that woman she took it from me when I bumped into her"
"What? What do you mean took it? Shikamaru who took it?"
"Shit" He heard the steps, a duo of diplomats, their conversation distant but getting closer "abort the mission" he ordered simply and continued his pace past the door, as if he'd never wanted to go to it, his face set impassively, inside that unease from earlier more than known, a silent fire waking him up.
The once nervous stuttering woman turned the corner, after her run in with Shikamaru, her downturned head lifting slightly to reveal a smirk, just too easy she thought. She slipped the key card pressed onto her clipboard into her shirt, hooking it to the side of her bra and quickly turning her amusement back into a straight line, emotionless, alert, aware that he would figure it out soon. She slipped past the exit doors of the embassy, further undetected, and into a parked car waiting for her. The mousy brown wig coming off to let the long sandy hair fall, when the car door shut behind her. Crossing her legs, she slipped her fingers into her button up blouse to the key card and handed it to the man sitting next to her with a smirk, the car began to move.
"You really got some skills sis. Way to slip past one of their peacekeepers" The man took the card and put it to a scanner hooked up to a laptop on his lap, his fingers moving briskly to pull the windows with the camera's he'd been able to disconnect while she was inside aside, the screen now black with green numbers and letters.
"Kankuro you and I both know this is my area of expertise" The woman spoke as if it was fact and crossed her arms "Whatever we have to do to keep Gaara safe, we can handle on our own. No need to get the nations involved"
"Like we don't have enough problems back in Suna, Temari" Temari glanced over at him and sighed relaxing slightly in the car ride as she leaned against his shoulder, the thought of the desert city she came from, her home, her own hell, and she missed it. Kankuro used his free hand to pat her head his eyes trained to the screen "Don't worry I'm sure we'll be able to head back soon to check up on him"
"It's been four months since we were back home" she muttered shutting her eyes.
"At least the bastard is dead" Temari grinned at the mention, well at least she did what she had come here to do, what her order was.
"Even dead, he has already spoken. We have to silence the others now" There was a reason the rumors siblings of the Kazekage Gaara were rarely seen or spoken about.
Behind every leader a shadow stood to protect them.
Well? is it good? should I continue?
Spies, secrets, and...sabotage. lol you know what I wanted to say XD
