Quick note: There is one curse word used in this poem/song for Mae.

Broken Kaleidoscope

Life isn't easy,
Life can go crazy,
But no one ever
Expected one
The one moment it goes
Far from the expected norm

I've been trying to see
But the images aren't clear
Colors and shapes
In front of me
While in the periphery
I can almost see
Other versions of me
Trying to understand
When we all started seeing the world
Through a broken kaleidoscope

This has hurt me
This has caused mistakes
Mistakes that are hard to take back
When will it go away
Will I ever be free
I don't know
If any apology
Would change this course
Because in time
Everything feels like
Nothing has altered my life
For the better

I've been trying to see
But the images aren't clear
Colors and shapes
In front of me
While in the periphery
I can almost see
Other versions of me
Trying to understand
When we all started seeing the world
Through a broken kaleidoscope

Beyond my home town
The world is vast
Everything moves quickly
Expecting a lot out of me
So much happens
I tried to go beyond
My starting place,
But I'm unsure if I wasn't ready
Or if my vision distorted
Too much
Since I couldn't make it
I find myself back at my starting point

I've been trying to see
But the images aren't clear
Colors and shapes
In front of me
While in the periphery
I can almost see
Other versions of me
Trying to understand
When we all started seeing the world
Through a broken kaleidoscope

My life is on loop
But with weird things
Happening around me
Things are more than
What I see
Time to change
Time to find the real me
Who can live beyond
The distorted world

I've been trying to see
But the images aren't clear
Colors and shapes
In front of me
While in the periphery
I can almost see
Other versions of me
Trying to understand
When we all started seeing the world
Through a broken kaleidoscope

Nightmare eyes gaze upon the sky
The world in different colors
Grab the bat and break the glass
Shadows surrounding me
Ghosts of musicians
They play their haunting melody
Giants standing tall
Their presence makes me feel small
I question the choices I've made
Wanting to curse the world
That plays games with our lives

I've been trying to see
But the images aren't clear
Colors and shapes
In front of me
While in the periphery
I can almost see
Other versions of me
Trying to understand
When we all started seeing the world
Through a broken kaleidoscope

I am trying to see me
But my eye won't focus
I am but shapes
Partterns laid adrift
If the gods won't assist
In my time of need
Screaming out, Fuck you

At the goat of shadows
Who feeds on greed
I don't need you
I'd rather you be covered in shit
My vision clears
My way now is clear

My friends are around me
The images are finally undistorted
Colors and shapes
Of familiar sights
No longer in the periphery
Can I now see
Other versions of me
We now understand
The means to change seeing the world
Through a broken kaleidoscope

The road is long,
But I won't break
So many ideas I want to make
Write the words
And sing out loud
I will continue
To make myself whole
No longer seeing the world
Through a broken kaleidoscope
