A quick one shot that came to mind. Enjoy!
A firm smack to her bottom was what woke Eddie up out of a deep sleep. She let out a groan and turned her head, opening her eyes to see her husband sitting on the bed next to her with a cheeky smile on his face.
"What are you up to?" she asked groggily. Then, she looked at him up and down. "And why are you dressed?"
"Good morning to you too, babe," he responded. "I got our bags packed. I need you to get up."
Eddie's eyes widened slightly, "Bags packed? For what?"
"I have a hotel room booked for two in Montauk for the next five days. Private beach, all you can eat restaurants, and time with me… what's not to love?"
She chuckled as she sat up, "You are so full of yourself. And what made you want to do this?"
"We've been working like crazy lately. I figured it would be good to get out of the city for a few days. Plus, it's almost the end of the summer and I haven't seen you in a bikini yet. It's criminal, Eddie."
She let out a laugh at that, "You've seen me in less than that throughout the summer."
He shrugged, "I know. But a bikini is different. So… are you game or what? Because we need to hit the road."
Eddie smiled, "I'm game. Let's go."
A few hours later, they arrived to their hotel in Montauk. They were able to check in quickly and were lead over to their room which had a stunning view of the ocean. Jamie wrapped his arms around Eddie's waist from behind as they walked out onto the balcony.
"What do you think?" he asked gently, pressing a kiss to her temple.
"It's beautiful," she said with a happy sigh as she leaned back against him. Her usually tense demeanor as of late was now clearly relaxed, which made Jamie happy to no end. It had been a stressful time for the two of them, with Jamie's promotion, both of them working and trying to expand their family in the near future. It had been more of a struggle than they had realized, with months of trying and nothing happening yet. He knew that it was stressing Eddie more than anything, which he hated to see. He hoped that this vacation would take her mind off of it and help her relax a little bit.
"Should we go to the beach? Or take a nap first? What do you think?" he asked. "Or are you hungry?"
"I say we nap first," she responded, pulling out of his arms and taking his hand, walking him back to the king size bed. Suddenly, Jamie took her by surprise by picking her up and throwing her onto the bed, having her land perfectly on the side that she already claimed as hers.
Eddie laughed as Jamie jumped onto the bed after her and gathered her up in his arms.
"Good throw," she chuckled, placing her hands on his shoulders as they faced each other. "Seems like you have experience in that."
"Tons of it," he replied before pressing a kiss to her lips. "And it seems like I'm only getting better at it."
"I see that." Then, Jamie laid on his back and pulled her over, with her head landing on his shoulder. She started to run her fingers lightly up and down his chest, which was starting to lull him to sleep. He returned the favor by running his fingers through her hair, which gets her to sleep almost instantly. Soon after, only soft snores could be heard throughout the hotel room.
Later, after a few hours at the beach and another nap, they were headed to the beachside restaurant attached to the hotel. Much to Eddie's surprise, the hostess lead them back out of the restaurant and onto the beach, where a candle lit table was waiting for them.
She gave him a look as he pulled the chair out for her to sit down, "Jamie…"
"What?" he said innocently, before going to the other side of the table to sit across from her.
"This is too much… but I really appreciate it," she replied. "Thank you."
He smiled, "No thanks needed. And see… I can be romantic sometimes."
"Never said you weren't. But you still always manage to surprise me."
Their waiter came by a few minutes later and presented the menu to them. They quickly placed their orders before they were left alone again.
"We really needed this," Eddie said as she admired their view. " It's been really stressful lately."
"It has," Jamie agreed. "That's why I wanted us to come out here to get away for a little bit. And to get our minds off of everything."
"Well I really appreciate you doing this for us… even though this is all just to see me in a bikini."
He laughed, "Not just for that. For us to reconnect a little bit too. Even though we really don't have much of a problem with that anyways."
She smiled, "No. We really don't. But that's a good thing."
Suddenly, Eddie grew quiet as she looked out at the sunset. She turned and flashed him a warm smile, one that reminded him of how deeply and madly his love for her went. He had never felt a love for someone like he did for Eddie, especially considering that he'd even been engaged before. Sometimes, as it was at the moment, the love he had for her made him damn near emotional.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" she asked gently.
"I love you," he said, reaching out and taking her free hand that sat on the table into his. "I hope you know that."
"I do," she responded with certainty, running her hand over the top of his. "I really do."
"I know it's been tough with everything going on and stressful but I don't want you to worry about any of that," he said. "Things will happen how and when they're meant to happen."
Eddie sighed, "I know. That's what I've been telling myself. It's just frustrating because you would think that it would've happened by now."
He nodded, "You know that my mom and dad struggled to have me right? That's why there's a gap between me and everyone else."
"Really? I thought you were an oops? Well… that's what Danny told me."
Jamie let out a small chuckle, "That's why you don't listen to Danny, hon. But yeah, they struggled for a few years. Dad's talked to me about it some. He said that Mom always wanted to go for a fourth but he didn't think it was such a good idea since her pregnancies were always a little higher risk. He didn't want her to jeopardize herself to have another baby. But Mom was insistent so he agreed. They had actually stopped trying for about a year when she finally got pregnant with me… I guess that's where Danny got the oops from."
"Well… I guess you were the best oops they could've had," she said affectionately.
He smiled, "I would hope so."
"But that makes me feel better. I thought it was just me."
He shook his head as he tightened his grip around her hand. "I'm sure there's a lot of people going through what we are right now. It'll happen for us, Eddie. And we always have other options too. But for now… we can just have fun with trying," he said, giving her a comical wink.
She laughed, "Oh goodness. So have fun without stressing if it happens or not?"
"That's right," he nodded.
"I like the sound of that."
Jamie leaned over and pressed a sweet kiss to her lips. "I love you," he said.
"I love you too."
The five days went by quicker than they would've hoped but left them feeling more relaxed and in love with each other than before. Eddie let go of the worries she'd been having and simply enjoyed the time they were in. As Jamie had told her, it would happen when and how it was meant to. And considering the small flutter she felt in her stomach a few weeks later, she had a feeling that he was right.
