Five Years Prior
While on their way to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, the five Raccoon City Survivors consisting of Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff and Sherry Birkin were sitting together, reminiscing on what had happened.
"Okay, that's good," Came the voice of Maria Hill in the cockpit. "I just got word that a group of survivors just escaped the city. Spider-Man was among them too, along with that X-Men guy Gambit, and that farmer girl, Applejack."
"That's good, glad they made it," Clint said.
"They were with a cop too, her name's Jill Valentine," Maria explained.
"Jill? That's the name of my brother's coworker from S.T.A.R.S.," Claire said.
"So there were more survivors, that's good," Leon said.
"And it sounds like Spider-Man did a great job," Clint said. "Tony will be proud of that for sure."
"Sure will," Maria said.
"Leon, about what you said earlier," Claire said. "How are you going to take down Umbrella?"
"I'm not sure, but I can't let them get away with what they did,"Leon said. "I gotta make this right. I couldn't save everyone in the city, but I can definitely avenge them."
"Someone wants to be an Avenger," Clint said in a joking manner. "But still, you have great ambition, and if you need help, you can count on us."
"Umbrella is going to fall, one way or another," Natasha said.
"I'll do what I can too," Claire said.
"What about me?" Sherry asked. "Can I do anything?"
"Kid, I like the initiative, but you're too young," Clint said. "By the time you're older, hopefully we'll have had this under control."
"Yeah, don't worry about what we're doing, just enjoy life," Leon said. "Be what you want to be."
"But, I want to be like you, like all of you," Sherry said. "You're the bravest people I know, and more than anything, I want to be as great as you one day. Maybe I can save someone too."
"You want to be a hero kid?" Clint asked.
"Yeah, if I can be," Sherry said.
"Well…go for it," Clint said.
"You can do anything if you set your mind to it, Sherry," Leon said.
"Wow, you mean that?" Sherry asked.
Leon nodded in approval, allowing a smile to grace his face. "Go be the greatest hero this world has known."
Present Day
Things aren't turning out well for that dream. Fortunately, Sherry is a fighter, just like the four she admired.
Back in the flooded South American town, the story about Raccoon City had finished. Leon had gone through as much detail as he could about what had happened in Raccoon City, along with Natasha, who gave input wherever she needed to as well.
Krauser just listened quietly to the entire thing, as did Chun-li, the latter feeling much more engaged. Especially when it came to anything regarding Sherry.
"So yeah, that's the whole thing," Leon said. "Me, Natasha, Claire and Clint had survived an infected Police Station, Sewer and Underground Laboratory to escape Raccoon City."
"Having to keep an eye on a young girl was also concerning," Natasha said. "Sherry was well behaved, but she was easily frightened quite a number of times."
"Not that we can blame her," Leon said. "She was only twelve during that particular outbreak. But she did help out big time in the end with her quick thinking."
"You all worked well together," Chun-Li said.
"Honestly, I feel like we could have done better," Leon said. "I still hate that we couldn't save Ben, or Marvin."
"Marvin was already infected when you got there," Natasha said. "As for Ben, while I feel bad for the guy, he wasn't exactly cooperative. He would have lived if he just joined us sooner."
"Guess you're right," Leon said.
"Still, that's quite a story," Chun-Li said. "To think such an event can happen, and be kept so under the radar as it was."
"I can vouch, my higher ups barely even breathed a word about Raccoon City," Krauser said.
"No one wanted the outbreak to be public," Natasha said. "Not only did they keep the incident at the Spencer Mansion under wraps, they had to do a lot to prevent too much public knowledge about Raccoon City."
"From the sound of things, you weren't around for the first incident in the Arklay Mountain region," Chun-Li said.
"I'm afraid not, if you want information about the Spencer Mansion, you'd need to ask our ally Daisy Johnson," Natasha said. "You can also talk to either Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine about it."
"I'll keep that in mind," Chun-Li said, then heard the unconscious girl moaning in pain. "We should get her somewhere safe."
"We also need to find Javier Hidalgo's mansion," Leon said. "We should search upstream. Let's find a boat and take this girl with us."
"Hey, before you go," Krauser said. "These monsters, how similar are they to what you encountered? Same thing?"
"Not quite, these enemies feel controlled somehow," Leon said. "Especially that aquatic monster."
"Controlled enemies, that's a dangerous sign," Natasha said. "It means B.O.W.s are getting intelligent. I recall Spider-Man mentioning a B.O.W. that was program to kill members of S.T.A.R.S. He called it the Nemesis Project."
"I've heard of that myself," Leon said. "That creature sounded like an evolved version of the monster we had to fight in Raccoon City."
"Oh yeah, the one Ada called Mr. X," Natasha said.
"Hey, that Ada woman," Chun-Li said. "Do you think she really was the one that helped you kill that monster?"
"I'm not sure," Leon said. "I heard a rumor that she's alive though, but honestly, I'm not exactly looking forward to our reunion."
"She was a spy after all, even if Leon had a hard time admitting it," Natasha said. "She may be connected to something bigger."
"And what about Sherry?" Chun-Li asked. "Where is she?"
"I don't know exactly," Leon said. "All I know is that the U.S. Government is keeping a close eye on her."
"Clint and I do regular check-ups on Sherry," Natasha said. "Nothing's getting by us. If something comes up, you and Claire will be among the first to know."
"Well, we can save at least one girl right now," Leon said, lifting the unknown girl into his arms. "Come on, let's find a boat."
The group left the church and went back toward the town where they found a motor boat that was fortunately still functional. They began making their way upstream toward Javier's Mansion, in hopes of putting a stop to his nefarious plans.
It wasn't long before the girl woke up, confused at first until she spotted Chun-Li, the woman waving at her.
"Oh good, you're finally awake," Chun-Li greeted. She went to help the girl up, but she immediately backed away. "Whoa, it's okay!"
"Yeah, you don't need to worry," Leon said. "You're safe. We're not going to hurt you."
"We're the ones who saved you," Krauser said, the man looking ahead out into the water.
"You'll stay safe, as long as you're with us," Natasha reassured.
The girl had no response, she simply rubbed her arm.
"Hey, are you alright?" Leon asked.
Chun-Li got in closer, "Are you hurt? Was it that monster?"
The girl still had no vocal response, merely shaking her head in denial.
"So...you're the girl?" Krauser asked, getting the new passenger's attention. "The one from Javier's mansion?"
Rather than answer his question directly, she had one of her own. "The people in the village, what happened to them?"
"They're all dead," Krauser bluntly stated, much to the annoyance of Chun-Li.
"Well, guess that's out of the way," Chun-Li commented, then focused back on the girl. "Unfortunately, he's right. Things got bad and you were the only survivor we could save."
"We're here on a mission," Leon explained. "We're looking for an American who contacted Javier about a virus. We need to find both of them, and we're hoping you could take us to Amparo."
The girl had no immediate response, instead she nodded her head in agreement.
"Okay, looks like that's settled," Natasha said. "With any luck, we can end things before they get out of hand."
After a fair bit of traveling, the group had passed by a manion visible from the river, the four soldiers standing up in awe.
"So, this is Javier's mansion?" Leon asked.
"Yes...I escaped through there," The girl said, gesturing to a dam.
"A dam huh?" Natasha asked, maneuvering the boat toward the location. "Well, come on then, let's do what we came here to do."
"Right..." Leon said, preparing himself for what's to come. He had his worries, but he knew to set them aside for now. He had a mission to complete, and he would not let himself be distracted.
Of course, he was still curious about this girl, just the fact that she kept herself so calm against a monster had Leon wondering about her.
The group continued making their way toward the dam, then getting off the boat and making their way through a nearby tunnel. The girl from the village stayed close to Leon while Krauser took to the front, with Natasha and Chun-Li watching the rear.
"So if we go through this water channel, we should be able to get to where we need to go," Leon said.
"That's the plan," Natasha said as they continued through the tunnel.
After walking for a bit and getting closer to the end, Leon turned his attention to the girl he was traveling with. "So...you haven't told us your name yet."
"Manuela," The girl introduced.
"Pleased to meet you Manuela," Leon said. "My name is Leon."
"Call me Krauser," the buff man said.
"I am Black Widow, but you may address me as Natasha," The Avenger said.
"And I'm Chun-Li," the cop said. "We're going to keep you safe."
"Now, from here on out, I need you to be very careful, alright?" Leon said. "You must do what we say, no matter what."
"That means stay close, if you want to get out of here alive, kid," Krauser said.
"Yes," Manuela said.
Krauser stepped into a large pool of water, looking around and examining his surroundings. "This must be the discharge channel."
"Just be careful, water has not been our friend today," Natasha said, stepping in as well, with the others following.
As they went across a path, Chun-Li spotted some danger swimming in the water, "Piranhas!"
"Not again," Leon said as he and Krauser pulled out their knives and attacked the oncoming fish, with Chun-Li staying close to Manuela and firing from her gun with Natasha providing support.
After killing the last fish, Krauser took a closer look around, "Is that all?"
"Natasha, behind you!" Leon warned.
Natasha turned around and immediately fired at a zombie that attempted to sneak up on her. "That was close."
"More are coming!" Leon warned, gesturing to more Piranhas.
"Run!" Chun-Li provided cover as everyone ran toward a door not too far away.
"At this point, we need to avoid the water as much as possible," Krauser said.
Suddenly they heard a strange sound, spooking the group as they kept their guns out.
"What is that sound?" Leon kept close to Manuela, making sure she was out of any potential danger.
Suddenly a strange insect like creature known as an anubis showed up, startling the group.
"What the hell is that thing!?" Krauser asked.
"Don't care, just kill it!" Natasha ordered.
"Manuela, stay back!" Leon urged, firing at the monster. Despite the unknown to this creature, it didn't last long and was easily dispatched of.
"Glad that wasn't too hard," Chun-Li said. "Still, it looks so gross."
"Guess he took his weight loss plan way too seriously," Krauser quipped.
"Wow, that sounds like something Spider-Man would say," Natasha pointed out.
Chun-Li turned around the moment she heard rustling in the water, and her worries began to grow. "Guys, the zombies are swimming now."
"Oh no way," Leon said, turning around to spot some zombies in the water making their way to the shore. "These things are getting way too evolved."
Soon more began to come out of where they entered the room, with Krauser fending them off. "Here comes the calvary."
"We don't have time for them, keep moving!" Leon ordered as everyone rushed through a nearby door. Acting quickly, Leon was able to shut it, keeping the rest of the zombies out. "That should slow them down."
"This place is a menagerie of freaks," Krauser said. "Javier really must not like unexpected visitors."
"Could he really have had these monsters at his disposal like that?" Chun-Li asked. "It's not just some freak accident?"
"That is the purpose of the T-Virus, or one purpose at least," Natasha said. "According to some information that Spider-Man and Jill Valentine received, this virus was initially meant to be used as a way for the army to send infected prisoners to enemy camps and let things go to hell for them right afterwards."
"So basically, this Javier guy managed to find another use for the virus," Krauser said.
"If this virus continues to grow, then things will get much worse," Natasha said. "These creatures are already showing signs of increased intelligence. Anyone who wants to take over the world has the perfect tool for a plan like that."
"I don't think B.O.W.s care about getting paid either, so it saves certain crime bosses a lot of money," Leon said.
"I hope Shadaloo never considers this idea," Chun-Li said.
"I'm more worried about what someone like Obadiah Stane could pull off with this type of resource," Natasha said.
"One thing I have to know," Leon said, then turned to the girl beside him. "Manuela, how did you make it past all these things?"
"Wh-what do you mean?" Manuela asked.
"What do I mean?" Leon asked, not sure how to explain it. "Well, it's just-"
"Come on kid, answer the question!" Krauser ordered.
"You don't need to yell at her," Natasha scolded.
"Hey, you want answers, you gotta be tough," Krauser said. "I'm not taking it easy on her just because she's a girl. If she knows something, we need to be informed."
"Unfortunately, he's not wrong," Chun-Li said. "I am curious myself as to how Manuela survived."
"I-I don't know," Manuela insisted. "I didn't see any of these monsters when I came through earlier."
"That's...good to know," Leon said, feeling a bit uncertain by that answer.
Natasha also had her concerns. Despite her sympathy for the girl, she could not deny how suspicious she started feeling. "I wonder..."
"Wait," Manuela began, keeping everyone's attention on her. "Why are you so eager to find Javier?"
"You saw the traps he set with all those monsters," Krauser said. "You really think someone like that should be allowed to walk free?"
"I suppose not," Manuela sadly stated. Once again this proved to be suspicious for Natasha.
Seconds later, a pair of zombies showed up. Chun-Li was quick to kick the head off one of them while Leon knifed the other in the neck and pulled his weapon out hard, leaving the monster bleeding as it fell dead to the floor.
"Can't let your guard down for a second," Natasha said.
"We'll talk justice later, let's go," Krauser ordered.
"Wait...it's like a maze ahead," Manuela warned as she took the lead. "You need to follow me."
"Lead the way then," Leon said.
Manuela led them around the corner, down another hallway within the dam's structure. As they passed through, the team noticed some dead bodies scattered around, with blood staining the walls.
"Those poor people..." Chun-Li sympathized for the deceased present.
"It's sad, but this also means to be extra careful," Leon said. "These guys might stand up, and won't share your sense of compassion."
"Just watch your step, and it will be fine," Krauser said, keeping his knife ready should he need to defend himself.
Manuela kept her position as leader, doing her best to avoid the bodies herself. As she attempted to turn the corner, a zombie popped out, startling the girl.
"Watch out!" On instinct, Leon fired a few times, killing the zombie instantly.
As expected, the other bodies started to stand, with Natasha blasting them with her SMGs. "Of course this happened. You shoot one zombie, several more just want to step in its place."
Krauser used his gun to blow the head off of one zombie, leaving a mess on the floor as he casually walked off. "And like their friends, they end up dead."
With the situation calmer, Manuela quickly led the team into another room. This one had better lighting and a giant staircase.
"Where are we?" Leon asked.
"I came down those stairs," Manuela said, gesturing to the structure.
"Guess we're going up," Chun-Li said. She then leapt up to a railing and pulled herself over. After taking a look around, she looked back down on the team. "It's all clear!"
"She doesn't expect us to do that, does she?" Krauser asked.
"I doubt it," Leon said. "Come on, let's head up the stairs."
Just before they could, they heard the anubis again, everyone keeping their guns out and sticking close together.
"Here we go again," Natasha said. "Always a different freak."
"It's coming in from your right!" Chun-Li warned.
The monster leapt at the group, but the duo gunfire of Leon and Krauser was enough to kill it.
"These things really like to make an entrance," Krauser noted.
"Well, it's dead now," Leon said, glancing at the staircase. "Let's keep going."
The group wasted no time going up the stairs, opting to run rather than walk. As they did so, they heard another anubis.
"Great, there's another one!" Leon said, keeping his gun aimed at the monster.
"Don't slow down, just keep running!" Natasha urged her old friend.
"Hurry! This way!" Chun-Li said, gesturing them up the stairs.
They kept moving faster, occasionally firing at the monster to keep it at bay. Once they reached the top, Chun-Li held the door open for them to run through.
The anubis leapt in to attack, but Chun-Li was quick to kick the monster against the wall, splattering it on impact and killing the creature.
"Nice moves," Leon complimented.
"Thanks. Well, that takes care of that," Chun-Li said, then followed everyone through the door.
Once on the other side however, they spotted a horde of zombies waiting for them, and ready to attack as everyone got into a battle position.
"Javier really likes his traps," Natasha said, using her SMGs to kil the horde. "But, he's going to have to do better than that."
"Great work, but let's not get too overconfident," Chun-Li urged.
"Don't worry, I know when to flex and when to dial back," Natasha insisted.
"Pride always comes before the fall, just be mindful," Chun-Li said. "For now, let's press onward."
"Let's go kid," Krauser said while gesturing Manuela along.
A nearby door burst open, revealing a pair of Hunter Gammas, their presence spooking Manuela. Fortunately Leon was quick with his shotgun and blasted the monsters.
"Okay, let's watch for every single door possible," Natasha said. "Never know what kind of freak will burst out."
Manuela took a breath of relief, but this situation was slowly starting to affect her. All of these monsters, all of this blood, none of it was settling well for the poor girl.
"Hey," Krauser turned his attention to Manuela. "You doing okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine," Manuela insisted.
"That's good," Leon said. "Come on, let's not stop."
The group carefully made their way through the hallway, turning right next to the door the Hunter Gammas burst from, then spotted a pair of zombies on the other side. Not wanting any unnecessary confrontation, Leon and the others continued on away from the door.
"It's always the quiet parts that get me," Chun-Li said.
"I know what you mean, felt like that throughout all of Raccoon City," Leon said as they turned a corner.
They went down a hall and spotted another door, one Leon seemed interested in going through.
"Look out!" Manuela called as some giant spiders crawled over.
"I got this!" Chun-Li fired at one, killing it within a few hits. The other spider leapt at her, but the girl was quick to hit it with a double palm strike, splattering it against the wall.
"I'm really glad we have you on the team," Leon commented.
"Glad to be here," Chun-Li said, the girl reeling that statement in a bit. "Well, sort of. I don't like the zombies and stuff but I am still happy to help."
"There's more of them coming!" Manuela warned as some Hunter Gammas showed up.
"These bastards just won't give up!" Leon shouted in frustration as he provided cover fire for the others to make their way through the nearby door.
"Good ol' Javi really does not want us getting past this dam, does he?" Krauser noted as he assisted Leon.
They ran up a nearby staircase, where Natasha spotted a horde of zombies blocking the path. "Cheap security!" She blasted them with her SMG, obliterating them with little trouble. "And it shows."
One zombie seemed to survive, but Leon shot it before it could even regain its composure. "Good reflexes Nat. Way to kick ass."
"Nothing I can't handle," Natasha boasted.
More Hunters came up from behind, but Chun-Li took them out with some quick kicks, the girl looking satisfied with her results. "These things are quick, but nothing compared to what I can do."
"Honestly, this isn't so bad," Krauser said. "I think we got the hang of our teamwork."
"Let's keep it that way," Leon said as the group continued exploring the next floor they were on.
As they went down more of the halls, Krauser came to a frustrating realization upon reaching a proverbial fork in the road, "Oh great. Which way do we go?"
"This way," Manuela said, gesturing down a hall.
Unfortunately a horde of zombies appeared, the four mowing them all down. One got too close to Leon, but he was able to kick it away and followed up with a shot to its face.
One also got in too close to Krauser, to which he used his knife to fend the creature off and then delivered a mighty kick of his own, knocking the monster into the others and allowing the group free shots to finish the creatures off.
"Well, more zombies means more to hide," Natasha pointed out.
"Speaking of more!" Chun-Li pointed to some extras coming around the other corner.
"Shit, they're everywhere!" Krauser said, firing away at the monsters.
Natasha fired at the horde, but heard more coming from behind, along with a pair of spiders. "At this rate, we're going to be surrounded by these monsters!"
"We got to make a run for it!" Leon said, taking charge and finding the best route through the infestation of infected.
Eventually they made their way to a hallway, right above the staircase, and away from the monsters, with Leon shutting the door behind him while the others kept a close look around to ensure there weren't any more surprises waiting.
"We're safe, for now," Natasha said.
"Not for long, we can't stay here too long," Chun-Li pointed out.
"Manuela, where are we going?" Leon asked.
"There's a passage up this way that will take us outside," Manuela explained.
"So that means we're getting closer to Javier's mansion?" Leon asked.
"Mmhmm..." Manuela responded.
"I hope we're almost there, I want to get my hands on that bastard for all of these traps," Natasha said while making sure her weapons were fully loaded.
Just as they were about to move, Manuela spoke up again. "So what did Javier...?"
"You say something?" Krauser asked.
Manuela shook her head. "Nothing, forget it."
Natasha once again felt suspicious of this girl. While she could believe she wasn't an enemy, she knew she was hiding something. Part of her wanted to speak up, but she opted to leave it for now. However, her patience was running thin.
The group made their way toward an elevator and took it up. Everyone stood silently for a few seconds, with Leon thinking over the next part of his plan, Natasha glancing at quiet Manuela, Krauser readying his gun and Chun-Li taking a moment to fix her hair bun.
Once the ride was over, the group stepped out and spotted a gate of flowing water going down a pathway.
"I don't like this," Krauser said while keeping a close look around. "It's too quiet."
"I wish quiet was a good thing, but I agree, I feel uneasy myself," Natasha said.
"Look," Leon said, gesturing to a security camera.
"Seems like Javier has us under surveillance," Natasha said as Leon crossed a nearby bridge.
"Come on, let's hurry," Leon urged the others along.
As Krauser crossed the bridge with Manuela right behind him, from the corner of his eye, he spotted danger. "Piranhas!"
A school of those deadly fish popped out and went on the attack, with the four trying to fend them off. Unfortunately while trying to dodge, Manuela fell into the water and started going downstream.
"Manuela!" Krauser called, the man jumping into the water as well.
"Oh no!" Chun-Li jumped as well, the three sliding down the pathway.
"Great," Leon ran down with Natasha on the other side. Unfortunately trouble arose once an anubis showed up. "Natasha, watch out!"
"I got it!" Natasha caught the creature with a kick and gunned it down with her SMGs. "Focus on helping Chun-Li and Krauser!"
"Leon! Get the kid!" Krauser called, gesturing to Manuela trying to grab the sides.
"I'm on it!" Leon was able to grab Manuela by the wrist and pulled her up. "Krauser, up here!"
"Right behind you!" Krauser said, grabbing a ladder with one hand and reaching out to Chun-Li with the other. "Let's hurry."
Chun-Li heard trouble and spotted more Piranhas. "Not good!" The woman provided cover as Krauser helped them both up, and were finally out of the water.
"More trouble!" Natahsa called from the other side.
Leon turned and spotted some spiders, quickly shooting them with assistance from Krauser and Chun-Li while Natasha made her way to the other side.
"They're dead," Krauser said. "Good job."
"Thank you Krauser," Manuela said. "And you too Chun-Li."
"Think nothing of it," Chun-Li modestly stated.
"I see a door," Leon said while leading the team up some steps. "Come on."
"Right behind-" Chun-Li was blocked by a spider, freaking the cop out. "There's more creatures!"
"I got it!" Leon fired at the monster. The victory was short lived as some zombies immediately showed up.
"Where'd they come from!?" One got too close to Natasha, but the woman was quick to use her suit's tasers to electrocute it.
"AH!" Manuela found herself being chased by a zombie through a door while a spider blocked the path.
"Shit!" Krauser was quick to kill both monsters as he and his team ran through the door to find the girl.
"Where did she go!?" Leon asked as they arrived in a gear room full of corpses.
"Careful, they'll pop up!" Natasha said.
Right on cue, the corpses sprung to life, with everyone gunning them down before they even had a change to stand.
One zombie lunged at Leon, but he was quick to kick it toward the gears as the monster was subsequently crushed, with blood splattering everywhere.
"Ugh, I think I'm going to be sick," Chun-Li commented.
"Come on, we have to keep moving," Natasha said, then heard some familiar singing. "Is that?"
"Manuela!?" Leon called as the girl walked into view. "There she is!"
"Hey kid!" Krauser called, getting her attention.
"Krauser?" Manuela sheepishly approached the group, holding her right arm in discomfort.
"Thank God you're okay," Leon said.
"I'm so sorry," Manuela said in shame. "I got scared and I-I..."
"What were you singing for kid?" Krauser asked. "Do you really want to draw attention to yourself right now?"
"Easy Krauser, it probably calms her down," Chun-Li theorized.
"It does," Manuela confirmed. "At night, whenever I got scared of the dark, my mother would sing to me."
"It's that same song you were singing at the church too, right?" Leon asked.
"Uh..." Manuela sheepishly nodded her head.
"Look, it's not safe here," Krauser said. "We need to keep moving."
Manuela silently nodded, going along with what Krauser suggested. However, not too long later, the group heard a sinister voice coming from the loudspeaker.
"Manuela..."
"Who was that?" Chun-Li asked.
"I think I might know," Leon said. "It's Javier!"
"The guy we're after?" Chun-Li asked.
"Please my dear, come home," came Javier's voice.
"Father!" Manuela said, then ran off, much to everyone's surprise.
"Did she say 'father'?" Krauser asked. "So, Javier has a daughter!?"
"That would explain a lot honestly," Natasha said.
"Worry about that later, we need to go after her!" Leon said. The group followed her path, but were blocked by a group of zombies. "Get out of our way!"
One zombie lunged at Krauser, prompting the man to take his knife and slice through the monster's neck, causing it to fall over with blood sprouting from the fallen creature.
Chun-Li kicked through a zombie, getting her leg stuck in the monster. "Not good!"
"I got you!" Leon fired at the zombie and helped pull Chun-Li to safety.
"Thanks," Chun-Li said, then fired at another zombie. "That should take care of it."
Leon turned around to make sure they weren't followed in any way or form. "Come on, we gotta find Manuela!"
"Right, and maybe get some answers," Natasha said as she joined the others in finding the girl.
The group turned to the door that Manuela ran through and followed that path, hoping to find the girl before she found herself in danger.
"Manuela!" Leon called as he caught up to her. She was just standing in place near a dam river while the man this group was truly after was standing on the other side, high above them. "Javier!"
"Manuela...all of this I did for you," Javier said in a tone hinting at disappointment. The girl looked down in sadness as everyone took a moment to register the situation. "You only needed to follow my directions for fifteen years. This will prevent the transformation."
"Transformation?" Natasha turned to Manuela, who seemed to be backing away in shame and worry.
"But please my dear, you must be patient," Javier continued as a weird sound was heard.
"What's that noise?" Krauser wondered.
"The man who gave us the Veronica Virus told me it would work," Javier said. "As did the woman who was assisting him!"
"Wait, did he say The Veronica Virus!?" Leon asked in disbelief.
"You have got be kidding," Natasha lamented.
Suddenly Manuela was taken hostage by one of Javier's men as he backed away while holding a gun at the group.
"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" Chun-Li shouted, the girl looking ready for a fight.
"These foreigners cannot save you, Manuela," Javier said. "Only I, your father, can help you now."
Suddenly a large flood of water burst through some pipes, and immediately swept away the four heroes.
"Leon!" Manuela broke free and ran for her saviors while jumping into the water with them.
"Manuela!" Javier shouted in worry. "Manuela!"
The girl had washed away with the others, heading off into the unknown.
"Veronica. The dreadful horror that Claire and Clint encountered. Why did Javier give it to his own daughter?"
Leon would have much more to think about, assuming he made it out of this alive.
