Meeting Olivia, and the Stoutland Treasure Hunt
After the group leaves Wela Volcano Park, they all start walking back to Heahea City. They soon reach Royal Avenue where Lynn stops to take a long look at the Battle Royal Dome.
"I can't wait to take Masked Royal's title from him." said Lynn with excitement.
"You'll need to get your Pokemon a lot stronger to take on someone like him." said Kiawe.
"Then that's what I'll do!" said Lynn.
"That's assuming you get past me." said a familiar voice from behind them, making them turn to see Kalani.
"What are you doing here?" asked Lynn.
"Just looking at the site of the place where I'll be the one to end Masked Royal's streak." said Kalani.
"If you're lucky enough to make it past me!" said Lynn.
"Whatever." Kalani says nonchalantly, making Lynn growl at her.
"Just you wait two months from now; I'll show you!" said Lynn.
"Yeah, show me how to lose badly." said Kalani. Lightning travels between the two girls' gazes as they glared at each other. After a while, Kalani gets bored and starts walking past the group; as she does, she glides one of her hands across Lincoln's neck while winking at him, making him blush, and Mallow growl.
"Let's just get going." said Kiawe.
"Yeah, we have better things we can be doing than dealing with that chump." said Lynn.
The group then head to the Pokemon Center to get Lincoln's Pokemon treated. As they wait, Lincoln decides to call home. He dialed his family's number; seconds later, Lynn Sr answers.
"Hello, son." said Lynn Sr. "Everyone; Lincoln's on the phone." Rita and the rest of her daughters gathered around the screen.
"Hi, Linky." said Leni.
"Hey, Lynn." said Luna.
"Did you catch any cute Pokemon for me, Lincoln?" asked Lola.
"Sorry; not yet." replied Lincoln. "I'm just calling to let you know I passed my trial."
"Congratulations, Lincoln." said Lynn Sr.
"Thanks, Dad." replied Lincoln.
"Did you get another Z-Crystal?" asked Lucy from behind Lynn Sr, scaring him. Lincoln reaches into his pocket and pull out his Firium-Z; he shows it to his family.
"And how are things with you, Junior?" asked Rita.
"I'm doing fine." replied Lynn Jr.
"Are you catching more Pokemon to use in that tournament?" asked Luan.
"Yeah." replied Lynn Jr. She takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing her Fletchinder. "Meet my new Fletchinder."
"Wow, it looks so cool." said Lana.
"What type of Pokemon is your Fletchinder?" asked Lisa.
"Well, when it was a Fletchling when I caught him, he was part normal, part flying; when he evolved, he became part flying, part fire." replied Lynn Jr.
"Fascinating." said Lisa.
"Are you going to catch more Pokemon?" asked Lori.
"Yeah; I'm going to catch more Pokemon and train them so I can take down every trainer in the tournament, especially Kalani." said Lynn Jr.
"Who's Kalani?" asked Rita.
"Some trainer who's also entering the tournament." replied Lynn Jr.
"Is she a strong trainer?" asked Lynn Sr.
"I guess." replied Lynn Jr with a shrug. "But I bet I can beat her."
"We know you can, sweetie." said Rita.
"And I think she likes Lincoln also." said Shelby as she looks at Lincoln with a grin who blushes while the sisters in Royal Woods squealed with delight while Mallow frowns.
"What was Lincoln's trial like?" asked Lana.
"I recorded everything on my device." said Shane. "If you want, I can send the footage to you so you all can see what happened."
"Thanks, Shane!" said Lana. After Shane sends the recording of Lincoln's Wela Volcano Park trial, the group continue on their way.
They soon reach Paniola Town where they stop for a quick break.
"What should we do now?" asked Shiloh.
Just then, they hear something approaching them, making everyone look to see a Tauros charging towards them.
"It's a Tauros!" said Lincoln.
"And it's coming right towards us!" said Lillie. Lincoln and Lynn look at each other and nod before they each grab a pokeball off their waists and toss them; Lincoln lets out his Torracat while Lynn lets out her Machop.
"Torracat, use Double Kick!" said Lincoln. Torracat leaps at the incoming Tauros and lands two strong kicks to it, dealing super effective damage.
"Machop, use Seismic Toss!" said Lynn Jr. Her Machop grabs the Tauros, leaps up into the air with it, then throws him towards the ground where it lands, creating a shockwave that spreads a lot of dust around; the Tauros starts to get up while glaring at everyone.
"Whoa, that Pokemon is tough!" said Shiloh.
"What do we do?" asked Mallow.
"Hold it!" said a female voice.
"Who said that?" asked Sophocles. They look to see a woman with dark skin, wearing a yellow jacket over a pink midriff top, dark pink shorts, light pink sandal heels, as well as a bunch of anklets on her ankles and an equal number of bracelets on her wrists.
"Who is that?" asked Lori.
"I, totes, love her outfit!" said Leni.
"Let me take care of this." said the woman. She walks over to the Tauros, grabs the sides of its head, and kisses it on the nose; the Pokemon calms down after that.
"That was amazing!" said Lincoln. Just then, Sima comes running over to them.
"Is everyone okay?" asked Sima when she reaches the group.
"We're okay, Mother." said Kiawe. "Did you startle another Tauros again?"
"I only said good afternoon to it." said Sima.
"How loudly?" asked Kiawe. Sima looks away with an awkward look on her face.
"That doesn't matter." said Lynn.
"Yeah, at least no one got hurt." said Lincoln. The group looks towards the woman who kissed the Tauros.
"Thanks for calming Tauros down." said Mallow.
"You're welcome." said the woman. "My name is Olivia."
"Wait, aren't you the kahuna here on Akala Island?" asked Kiawe, surprising everyone else.
"You're a kahuna?" asked Lincoln.
"You mean like Hala?" asked Lynn Jr.
"That's right." said the woman now known as Olivia.
"I'm Lincoln Loud." said Lincoln. "I'm currently doing the Island Challenge."
"So, I guess you'll be challenging me eventually?" asked Olivia.
"Once I pass the third trial here on Akala Island." said Lincoln.
"And I'm his sister, Lynn Loud Jr." said Lynn. The rest of the group then introduces themselves to Olivia.
"So, what brings you here to Paniola Town?" asked Mallow.
"Just going to do some Stoutland Treasure Hunting." said Olivia.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln.
"Come with me and I'll show you." said Olivia. The group follows her until they reach a small barn; they are led inside to see a lot of large, canine Pokemon with brown fur on their heads that had very thick and long cream-colored whiskers; covering a large portion of their bodies was a thick coat of dark blue and grayish blue fur; they were also wearing saddles of different colors.
"What are those?" asked Shane. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it towards one of the dog Pokemon.
"Stoutland, the Big-Hearted Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Lillipup. It pays no mind to the cold, thanks to its long warm coat. Stoutland in Alola look a little uncomfortable." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"So that's what Herdier will evolve into someday." said Lincoln. Shelby runs over to a Stoutland and starts nuzzling its fur.
"It's so fuzzy!" said Shelby with delight.
"So would you mind explaining what Stoutland Treasure Hunting is?" asked Hau.
"Stoutland have a very strong sense of smell." explained Olivia. "They can find objects that are underneath the ground; sometimes they find very valuable ones."
"Valuable?" asked Lola with much interest.
"You and Lynn should give it a try, Lincoln." suggested Luan.
"And if you find something super valuable; send it to me!" said Lola.
"Or sell it for money you can use to buy us more stuff at Alola Sunrise." suggested Lori.
"Yeah, or you could do that." said Lola.
"Let's do it." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, I could sell anything valuable I find to buy more supplies." said Lynn. Everyone then gets onto a Stoutland, with Lance and Shelby sharing one while Sharon shares one with Shiloh; and they all head off in different directions.
With Lincoln, he was searching a forested area when his Stoutland picks up a scent.
"What is it?" asked Lincoln. Stoutland suddenly takes off running with Lincoln clinging to its saddle as tightly as he could. His Stoutland soon stops and starts digging; it stops and backs away from the hole it made.
"Looks like Stoutland found something." said Lucy.
"What'd you find?" asked Lincoln. He reaches into the hole and pulls out large golden orb. "It's a Nugget; but it's bigger than the one I found at Ten Carat Hill." He pockets his find, climbs back onto his Stoutland, and has it continue to sniff around.
Shelby and Lance's Stoutland finds a pokeball and Pearl, as does Shane's, and Sharon and Shiloh's both find a pokeball and a Star Piece.
With Lynn's Stoutland, it was sniffing around the side of a large cliff when it starts trying to dig into a part of it.
"What's up? Did you find something?" asked Lynn. Seeing that Stoutland was having a hard time getting through the rock; she hops off, walks over to the cliff wall, and does a karate chop into it; causing a large chunk of it to fall off, as well as a strange-looking rock come tumbling out of the hole she made.
"What's this?" asked Lynn as picks up the rock and looks it over. "I wonder if this is worth anything." Not knowing what else to do, she pockets the find and continues on.
A half hour later, everyone meets up on a road and start heading back to the Stoutland barn.
"What did you guys find?" asked Lincoln as everyone rides together.
"We found these." said Shiloh as he holds out the pokeball and Star Piece.
"You can sell that Star Piece for a lot of money." said Lincoln.
"Cool!" said Shiloh.
"We found a pearl and a pokeball." said Shelby.
"So did I." said Shane.
"The Pearls can be sold for a lot also." said Lincoln before he pulls out the large Nugget he found.
"That's a Big Nugget." said Sophocles.
"It sure is." said Lincoln.
"No; it's like a regular Nugget, but way more valuable." said Sophocles.
"Awesome." said Lincoln. Lillie, Alola Lana, Hau, Mallow, Sophocles, and Kiawe show what they all found.
"Did you find anything Lynn?" said Lincoln.
"Just this rock." said Lynn as she shows him what she found; Olivia's eyes widen when she sees Lynn's find.
"That's a Sparkling Stone!" said Olivia.
"Wait; didn't Kahuna Hala say that a Z-Ring can be made from one of those?" asked Lincoln.
"Sweet!" said Lynn as she tosses the Sparkling Stone up and down.
"How can we get it made into a Z-Ring?" asked Lincoln.
"Kahunas have the knowledge of how to do so." said Olivia.
"Could Kahuna Hala make a Z-Ring?" asked Lynn.
"Yes." said Olivia.
"When we get back to Iki Town we can ask him." said Hau.
"Okay." said Lincoln. As the group gets closer to the Stoutland barn, they see Team Skull sitting on a fence that was along the road they were on.
"Well, well, well; look at what we have here." said Tupp.
"Not Team Numbskull again." said Lynn.
"That's Team Skull to you!" said Zipp.
"I see you all were out treasure hunting." said Tupp.
"What's it to you?" asked Kiawe.
"How about handing over everything that you all found?" said Tupp. But before anyone could respond, Lincoln was tackled off his Stoutland by Rapp.
"CUTIE!" said Rapp as she hugs Lincoln while nuzzling his cheek, making him blush.
"HEY, GET OFF HIM!" shouts Mallow.
"Make me." said Rapp as she and Mallow glare at each other.
"Rapp, get over here!" said Tupp. Rapp pouts before she heads back to her friends, but not before she pulls her mask down and kisses Lincoln on the cheek, making him blush some more; his sisters, relatives, and most of his friends chuckle, and Mallow growl.
"Now hand over your treasures!" said Zipp. Olivia looks at Lincoln.
"How about I take care of them." suggested Olivia.
"Really?" asked Lincoln. Olivia nods as she tries to climb off her Stoutland, only for her slip and fall to the ground, making everyone sweatdrop.
"Not very graceful, are you?" asked Tupp as he and the rest of Team Skull chuckle.
"I'm okay." said Olivia as she stands back up and dusts herself off; she then takes a pokeball off her waist and tosses it, releasing a bipedal, red and white, wolflike Pokemon.
"What is that?" asked Lincoln as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at Olivia's Pokemon.
"Lycanroc Midnight Form, the Wolf Pokemon, and the evolved form of Rockruff. It has no problem ignoring orders it doesn't like. It doesn't seem to mind getting hurt at all—as long as it can finish off its opponent." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"That's a Lycanroc?" asked Lincoln.
"It doesn't look like yours, cuz." said Shane.
"Lycanrocs have three different forms that they can evolve into." explained Olivia. "If Rockruff evolves during daylight hours, it'll evolve into a Midday Form, if it evolves at night, it evolves into the Midnight Form you're looking at; and if it evolves as the sun sets, it evolves into Dusk Form."
"Cool!" said Shiloh while Lynn looks with awe at the Lycanroc.
"So, what if you have a Lycanroc?" asked Tupp. "We'll still crush you and take all your treasure!" Olivia moves some of her bracelets, revealing a Z-Ring.
"She's got a Z-Ring!" said Sophocles.
"Well, she is a Kahuna." said Mallow.
"She is?!" asked Zipp.
"So what?!" replied Tupp who tosses a pokeball, releasing his Fearow while Zipp and Rapp toss theirs, releasing their Ariados and Golbat. Olivia takes out a brown Z-Crystal that had an emblem resembling a rock in it and puts it in her Z-Ring; she does a pose, making Z-Energy flow from her into her Lycanroc, making the Z-Power Symbol appear in front of it.
"Lycanroc, use Continental Crush!" said Olivia. Her Lycanroc leaps into the sky and hundreds of rocks are drawn to it and merge into one very large boulder while everyone watches in stunned shock.
"Whoa!" said Lincoln. All of a sudden, the massive rock falls onto Team Skull's Pokemon, creating a powerful shockwave upon impact that releases dust which forces everyone to shield their eyes.
"Man, that's intense!" said Shane. When the dust clears, the large rock was in millions of pieces with Team Skull's Pokemon all knocked out.
"She wiped us out with one move!" said Zipp.
"Let's beat it!" said Tupp.
"But I wanna spend time with Linky!" said Rapp; but Tupp grabs her by her top and drags her to her motorcycle and drops her onto its seat, much to her disapproval; they all then ride off, leaving the group to themselves.
"That was amazing!" said Lincoln.
"What Z-Crystal is that?" asked Kiawe.
"It's called Rockium-Z." said Olivia. "It's awarded to any trainer who defeats me in a Grand Trial."
"Looks like I have some training to do." said Lincoln.
After the group return their Stoutlands, they all head back to Melemele Island.
Later in Iki Town, Lynn was handing her Sparkling Stone to Kahuna Hala who looks it over.
"I can definitely make a Z-Ring out of this." said Kahuna Hala.
"How long would it take to do that?" asked Lynn.
"I'll have it ready by tomorrow afternoon." said Kahuna Hala.
"Sweet!" said Lynn.
Later; Lincoln and Lynn were chatting with their family back in Royal Woods.
"Today was really exciting for you, kids." said Lynn Sr.
"Don't forget to cash that Big Nugget and buy us stuff from Alola Sunrise." said Lori.
"Okay." said Lincoln.
Lincoln and Lynn just met the Akala Island Kahuna, and Lynn will soon get a Z-Ring. What else will they experience as their Alola adventures continue?
