Leaving
Lincoln continued to lay on his bed, looking up at the ceiling. It has been almost an hour since he unleashed years of pent-up frustration on his sisters, except for Lily.
"Why do I keep putting up with my sisters? I've done so much for them, made a lot of sacrifices for them, and they do very little in return." Lincoln says to himself. "I can't go to Mom and Dad about it, because they'll just take my sisters' side anyway." He then lifts himself up and sits on the side of his bed. "I need to get away from here, but where? I'm pretty sure that Lisa actually does have a tracking chip in me, not that she'd actually admit to it, so she'd find me in no time. Where could I go where my "family" won't be able to find or even track me?"
Lincoln begins scratching his chin and suddenly remembers Lisa's Dimensional Watch. (a/n: We know what happened in 'One of the Bros' was just a dream, but this is an AU, and in it, the watch is real.)
"Wait, if she can track me in this universe, then I'll just go to some other one where she can't." said Lincoln. He changes out of his pajamas and into his regular attire. After packing some of his belongings into his backpack, he goes to a poster below his bedroom window and pulls it off the wall, revealing an emergency cord. He pulls it and an inflatable slide pops out from outside the window, leading near the driveway. "At least Lisa made something I can actually use."
After Lincoln makes it out of the house, he heads for Lisa's bunker, figuring she'd keep her more advanced inventions in there where she believes would be safe from government agents looking to steal them. He goes to the entry hatch and inputs a code into the small keypad next to it, making it open.
'Lisa really needs a better passcode than her birthday.' Lincoln thinks to himself. He then enters the bunker, where Lisa's robot, TODD, moves over to him.
"Hello, LINCOLN. You are not permitted to be IN HERE." said TODD.
"Yes I am." said Lincoln. "Lisa said I can come down here."
"Prove it, LINCOLN." said TODD.
"Think about it, TODD." said Lincoln. "How could I have gotten past Lisa's advanced security system unless she let me in herself?"
"You got a POINT THERE." said TODD. "Go about your BUSINESS." He then rolls away to another part of the bunker. Once the coast was clear, Lincoln goes to a far part of the bunker where a shelf that had some of Lisa's past inventions on it.
"Let's see here... Jetpack... Gum that changes your voice..." Lincoln says as he goes through Lisa's inventions.
"SQUUUAAAWWWKKK!" screeches a creature that had the head and wings of a bird, and the body of a snake, as it snaps its beak at Lincoln, startling him.
"Stupid snakebird." said Lincoln. "Most kids Lisa's age make fingerpainting pictures; she sins against nature." Lincoln then spots what he was looking for: Lisa's Dimensional Watch. He grabs it and puts it on his wrist. "I'm out of here."
Just as he was about to push some buttons on the Dimensional Watch, his phone chimes. "I wonder who that can be? It better not be another message calling me out for 'cheating on Stella'." Lincoln takes his phone out of his pocket and looks at it to see a message from an unknown person.
'See you in the back of the high school. Come alone'
"I wonder who this is. Probably shouldn't go; could be someone wanting to chew me out in person; then again, it could be someone with proof of me and Sam's innocence." Lincoln puts his phone away and climbs out of Lisa's bunker. He then goes into the garage and grabs his bike, then starts riding towards the high school. He soon arrives and waits by the large acorn monument.
"This better not be someone's idea of a joke." said Lincoln. He looks around and sees some bottle caps on the ground; he picks them up and uses them to practice some vanishing coin magic tricks to pass the time. Twenty minutes later, he gets bored and was just about to leave when he feels a hand on his shoulder, startling him, and making him scream like a girl.
"Hey, dude! Lincoln!" a familiar voice calls out as a finger was put on his lips to stop his screaming. Lincoln was surprised when he sees Sam.
"Sam?!" Lincoln says as he looks at her.
"No need to scream, little dude." said Sam. "Thanks for coming; I had to steal my little brother's phone in order to reach you."
"Where have you been?" asked Lincoln. "Everyone's been looking for you."
"They probably want to give me a hard time for what they think you and I did." said Sam. "I had to get away from all that for a while."
"Yeah, I need to get away for a while, also." said Lincoln as he puts the bottle caps he was playing around with into one of his pockets and tugs on one of his backpack straps.
"Why'd you bring a backpack, dude?" asked Sam.
"I'm getting out of this city." said Lincoln.
"What? Why?" asked Sam with concern.
"I can't stand all the looks I've been getting from people, the news press bugging me constantly, and most of all, my sisters are giving me a hard time, especially Luna!" says Lincoln.
"Ummm... How is Luna?" asked Sam.
"Still upset about what supposedly happened." said Lincoln. "I had the idea of having Lisa check her video surveillance system footage to prove we're innocent and she refuses!"
"Why? It sounds like it would've worked." said Sam.
"She said it was too beneath her." said Lincoln.
"Isn't she supposed to be the genius in your family?" asked Sam. "Rejecting an idea that could've fixed everything seems dumb."
"I know." said Lincoln. "And Lori said I was just trying to avoid taking responsiblity for what I did!"
"How is trying to prove your innocence doing that?" asked Sam.
"I asked her that exact same thing." said Lincoln. "My sisters can be so irrational and frustrating sometimes, especially these days; that's why I need to get away for a while."
"Where will you go?" asked Sam.
"Wherever this takes me." said Lincoln as he holds out his wrist that had Lisa's Dimensional Watch on it.
"What's a watch going to do?" asked Sam.
"This is Lisa's Dimensional Watch." said Lincoln. "It can create portals to alternate dimensions. I plan on going to one and just hang out for a while until, hopefully, everything blows over."
"Isn't going to another dimension kind of going overboard?" asked Sam.
"Members of my family go overboard with things all the time." said Lincoln. "And I'm pretty sure that Lisa has a tracking chip on me somewhere like she does with Mom and Dad."
"Do you think I can come along with you, Lincoln?' asked Sam, surprising Lincoln.
"Why?" asked Lincoln.
"You're not the only one who's been getting a hard time from people because of that photo!" said Sam. "My family and practically everyone at school has been against me, and reporters have been bugging me, too! I've been called a pedophile, a child molester; I've just about reached my breaking point!"
"I-I-I'm sorry about that." said Lincoln. "If you want to come along with me, then I don't have a problem with that."
"Really?" replied Sam.
"But only if I can call you my big sister." said Lincoln as he looks away with a smile.
"Only if I can call you my little bro." said Sam.
"Deal." said Lincoln, giving Sam a fist bump.
"Let me get to my house and grab some things for myself." said Sam. As she turns and starts to walk away, Lincoln noticed she was staggering a little bit.
"Are you okay, Sam?" asked Lincoln. "You're walking a little funny, and your voice seemed a little off while you were talking."
"Yeahhhhh, I may have had a few beers before I got here." Sam says as she continues walking away, leaving Lincoln with shock on his face.
"WHAT?!" shouts Lincoln. 'I wonder what would've happened If I didn't bring up my plans.'
About an hour later, Sam returns with a backpack, along with an acoustic guitar.
"Got everything you need?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah, I got some clothes, a blanket, and some food in case wherever we end up doesn't have any we can actually eat." said Sam.
"I got some of the food supplies I keep in my room in case of another sister fight that requires me to hide out in there." said Lincoln. He then pushes some buttons on the Dimensional Watch and a portal appears.
"You ready for whatever's on the other side of this thing?" asked Sam.
"I won't know until we go through, sis." said Lincoln as he grabs his bike, making Sam chuckle at the 'sis' part.
"Then let's go, little bro." said Sam. They both take a deep breath and enter the portal.
