Chapter 11: Adjustments

For the first time ever, things were looking good for Danny. Sure, Plasmius was still at large but he's exposed himself as the fruitloop he was. Having been accepted by society, Danny testified about all things Vlad bragged about doing and the Government seized his assets so they'd be returned to the people he stole them from. Because Danny also told how Vlad cheated his way into being elected Mayor of Amity Park, a recall election would be held and former Mayor Ernesto Montez was declared Acting Mayor until the election was held.

At Casper High, Danny and Tucker were amazed at the "Danny Phantom Appreciation Day" banners. "Danny, can you imagine how many girls I can get being your best friend?" Tucker asked with a smile that creeped Danny. "I've never been so glad that you already have a girlfriend."

"I'm glad you're happy for me." Danny sarcastically replied.

They then noticed Dash approaching Sam. "Manson, who gave you the right to open Paulina's locker?" Dash asked, only to learn he wasn't talking to Sam. It was Paulina dressed like Sam. "Paulina, why're you disguised as Manson?"

"Now that I know my ghost boy is into goths, I'm dressing the part." Paulina proudly declared. Unbeknownst to her, Danny and Tucker were disgusted by it.

"Shouldn't you be disguised as the goth girl Phantom chose over her?" Dash asked and quickly added "Not that the idea doesn't disgust me but..."

"I didn't pay enough attention to how she dresses so I'll have to make up for it by being even perkier than her." Paulina explained. "It'll lead me right into his heart."

"More likely into a padded room, Paulina." Danny commented.

"Who da..." Paulina asked and then recognized Danny. "Oh, my ghost boy! Did you like it?"

"NO!" Danny shouted.

"Fine, I'll try to copy that Baker girl." Paulina replied, not understanding Danny's objection.

"I don't care about that, Paulina." Danny said.

"If that's because of her parents' status as movie makers, I can talk my Daddy into making a movie." Paulina offered. "Any theme you want!"

"How about "The Adventures of Tucker Foley, Tech Hero"?" Tucker suggested, earning glares from both Danny and Paulina.

"I prefer "The Adventures of Tucker Foley, Class Clown"." Paulina replied.

"For as long as I'm the main character." Tucker replied, seemingly not realizing Paulina was mocking him.

"I was joking, Foley. I wouldn't include you in any movie of mine." Paulina said and then thought it over and smiled. "Unless my ghost boy wants me to, of course."

"Paulina, I'm not your ghost boy." Danny replied.

"Forget it, Paulina." Dash said. "Fenton's too loyal to his girlfriend to be in a movie her parents aren't involved with. Just hire me to play your ghostly boyfriend. I can see it. "The Ghost and the Cheerleader", starring Dash and Paulina Baxter. Or Dash Baxter and Paulina Sanchez."

"Dash, I like the title but don't think that I'll have you star with me just because you look like the actor who played the teenage blowfly." Paulina said.

"That's right, Paulina." Tucker agreed. "If someone other than Danny must play the role of your ghostly boyfriend, it should be his good-looking best friend."

"Dash, how scary can you look as a ghost?" Paulina asked, not wanting to share scenes with Tucker, who protested.

"I won a haunted house contest where Danny Phantom was my opponent!" Dash bragged. "Would you believe he didn't even bring any pumpkins for his entry?"

"We can discuss the details later, Dash." Paulina replied.

"Alright but change back into your cheerleader outfit or at least something non-goth." Dash asked and the two of them left.

"Tucker, can you believe that?" Danny asked his friend.

"Yes, Dash's right about wanting Paulina to change back into a cheerleading outfit." Tucker commented. "The goth look only works on real goths."

"True, Tucker." Sam replied, startling them.

"Uh, hi." Danny awkwardly said.

"Danny, I'm sorry for what I said." Sam said. "And I'm okay with us being just friends."

"Welcome back, Sam." Danny replied.

"So, how does one join the Ghost Force?" Sam asked.

Danny laughed. "I'll talk to them."

Meanwhile, Dash and Paulina resumed talking about the movie. "Can we imply the cheerleader to be Myst?" Dash suggested. "It can make Liv jealous."

"I don't want leftovers." Paulina replied. "My ghost boy must leave her by his own choice instead of hers and there's no point talking about the movie until I can convince Daddy to finance it."

The Box Ghost then phased himself in. "Beware, I am the Box Ghost, master of all things cardboard and square."

"Beat it, loser." Dash demanded. "Nobody's afraid of you without Pandora's Box."

"Beware." The Box Ghost said and left.

After the ghost left, Team Phantom entered. "Phew, Paulina's back to a good-looking outfit." Tucker commented in relief.

"What do you mean by that?" Sam asked with a glare.

To Tucker's relief, Mikey distracted them. "Phantom, you missed the ghost."

"Ghost?" The three of them took battle stances.

"Don't worry, Phanturd." Dash calmly said. "It was just the Box Ghost."

"It's okay, then." Danny commented in relief and then felt his ghost sense.

"Hey!" The Box Ghost protested. "I have feelings. And won't you use me as a stress reliever as usual?"

"No, I'm not stressed at the moment." Danny replied.

"Okay. Beware." The Box Ghost replied and left.

"I wonder how Liv's adjusting." Danny commented.

Meanwhile, at NYC School, Charlie was interviewing Liv. "So, what's like dating a ghostly hero?" Charlie asked. "How did you feel being deceived all this time?" She was oblivious to how Mike felt upon hearing her using that word to describe it.

"No comments." Liv replied. "Now can we go back to class?"

"Ms. Baker's right, students." Professor Pascal stated. "Now go to your seats."

After classes were over, Jane and Stacy approached Liv. "So, now that classes are over, are you concerned about your boyfriend possibly cheating on you with Myst?" Jane asked.

"No." Liv simply answered.

Drake then showed up. "So, does that mean Myst is available?" He eagerly asked.

"Drake, that's between you and Myst." Liv answered.

"Come on, you can ask your ghostly boyfriend to talk to Myst about it." Drake argued.

"I can do that but I cannot guarantee a reply." Liv replied.

"Fine by me." Drake replied and then turned his attention to Andy. "Baker, how about a new match?"

"Anything to remind you that I'm better at basketball than you." Andy happily accepted the challenge.

"You're talking to the next Michael Collins." Drake bragged, not caring about Mike's feelings.

"Not if I become the next one." Andy replied. "Sorry, Mike."

Suddenly Professor Pascal showed up screaming in terror. "Ghost!" Every student other than Andy, Liv and Mike ran away as well.

"Sometimes I wish I had a ghost sense like Danny." Andy commented as he and the other Ghost Force members went to their lockers.

Minutes later, as Danny was fighting Skulker back in Amity Park, Tucker received a message on his PDA. "Wow, there's a ghost attacking the school Liv attends!" Tucker exclaimed.

"Tucker, I'm sorry for whoever the ghost in New York is attacking but Danny's busy at the moment and you should be helping him." Sam replied with a glare.

"Oh, right." Tucker acknowledged and pushed some buttons at his PDA, making Skulker's armor go to the zoo. "Not again!" Skulker exclaimed in terror.

"Like with Skulktech 9.9, I can't tell if this is exciting or depressing." Tucker commented.

"Thank you, Tucker." Danny said as he landed next to his friends.

"You're welcome, Danny." Tucker replied. "And you need the extra time to help Liv with the ghost attacking New York."

"What?" A shocked Danny asked while looking at the screen shown by Tucker. "I must go there ASAP!" He then flew away.

By the time Danny arrived at NYC School, Ghost Force had already defeated and captured the ghost. "Is everyone alright?" Danny asked.

"Yes, we already captured the ghost but we appreciate the thought." Fury replied with a somewhat teasing tone.

"The students must be nearby, Phantom." Myst said. "Do you mind looking for them while we take this ghost to our headquarters?"

"It'll be my pleasure, Myst." Danny replied.

The first student he found was someone he recognized as Charlie. "Excuse me, would you like to help me finding your classmates?" He asked her.

"I can send them text messages to tell them it's safe in case they didn't watch the ghost being captured, Danny Phantom." Charlie replied and started doing exactly that.

"Thank you." Danny replied.

A couple of minutes later, Charlie's classmates returned. "Danny, I'm so relieved!" Liv happily said as she hugged Danny.

"So, any chances of us having a date now that Ghost Force captured the ghost?" Danny asked.

"Unfortunately, Mr. Phantom, classes must resume." Professor Pascal stated.

"Aw, man." Andy groaned.

"In that case, I'm going back home." Danny said. "Bye, Liv."

"Baker, don't think I forgot about our challenge." Drake said.

"I didn't forget it either, Drake." Andy replied.

Back at home, Danny and his family discussed his latest trip to New York. "So, how did it feel being late to help?" Jazz asked.

"I'm glad Liv didn't need my help at all, Jazz." Danny answered.

"Don't you mean Ghost Force and the people they were defending didn't need your help, Danny?" Maddie asked with a smile, reminding Danny that his parents didn't know Ghost Force's identities.

"Yeah, Mom." Danny replied.

Afterwards, Danny had a meeting with the rest of Team Phantom. "I've been thinking about it and I believe Mom and Dad can be trusted with the identities of Ghost Force." Danny said.

"Little brother, what did Liv say about that?" Jazz asked.

"I haven't talked about it with her, Jazz." Danny answered.

"What about Andy and Mike?" Sam asked.

"I didn't discuss the matter with any of them either." Danny replied.

"Danny, you should do it." Tucker stated. "It's their secret after all." The others nodded.

"Little brother, are you sure it's a good idea to trust Dad with their secret?" Jazz asked. "He's still talking about having you as his sidekick."

"Good point, Jazz." Sam stated and she was being honest. She already accepted being friendzoned and was worried Jack would try to offer unwanted help to Ghost Force.

"Amity Park has enough ghosts to keep him from going to New York but I see the point." Danny commented. "Either way, I'm going to bring up the idea with Liv."

Days later, in New York, Danny was talking to Liv, Andy and Mike at the Baker household. "Danny, are you sure we can trust your parents?" Liv asked.

"The last time I checked, your Dad still wants to take you in as your sidekick." Mike pointed out.

"Come on, Liv." Andy tried to encourage his sister. "You could learn more about their ghost-hunting technology."

"That's a point in favor of telling the Fentons but we need to discuss it with Ms. Jones' first." Liv replied. "I'll call you later with her response, Danny."

"Okay, Liv." Danny accepted his girlfriend's answer.
