Chapter 38: Prisoners
A last gasp of hope!
After the assassination of his father and the fall of his kingdom beneath a planetary civil war, Mon Cala Prince Lee-Char has gone into hiding with the young Jedi, Ferus Olin, Ahsoka Tano and Nadia Aomori as his only protectors.
With his armies captured and friends imprisoned, the situation seems hopeless for the prince.
Count Dooku commands his sinister agent Riff Tamson to use any means necessary to bring Prince Lee-Char out of hiding, for he knows that hope does remain as long as the prince is alive.
Anakin, Padme, Master Fisto and Representative Jar Jar were brought before Riff as his prisoners.
"A Senator, two galactic famous Jedi and a fumbling amphibian."Riff snarled."I thought Prince Lee-Char would be easier to capture than the four of you."
"It must be part of our plan."Anakin admitted bitterly.
"I had the exact same thought."Riff replied.
Riff then grab a hold of Padme and brought her to two Quarren Guards.
"Don't touch me!"Padme said angrily.
"Let go of her."Anakin demanded.
"Rack them up!"Riff ordered.
Padme and Jar Jar were brought to two torture droids.
"Mesa don't like this."Jar Jar said nervously."Ow! That pinching!"
"Tamson, leave them alone!"Anakin demanded coldly.
"Don't worry, Skywalker, there's plenty of suffering to go around."Riff admitted in a smirking tone.
"Ah, Eels."Master Fisto stated."Very dangerous."
Anakin and Master Fisto were then tortured by the Mon Calamari eels as Riff began to interrogate them.
"Now, tell me, where is Prince Lee-Char?"Riff demanded.
Outside...
Prince Lee-Char, Ferus, Ahsoka and Nadia were hiding and watched as Aqua droids searched in the area.
"We can't hide forever."Prince Lee-Char reminded quietly.
"The Gungan Army was the last of the Republic's reinforcements."Ahsoka declared. "There won't be any more."
"So were actually on our own."Nadia replied.
Ferus sighed. "Sorry that our plan didn't go so well, Prince Lee-Char."
"The failure's mine, General Olin."Prince Lee-Char admitted sadly."Not the Republic's."
The four teenagers swam down as the aqua droids passed the area.
"If my father were here, he could unite with Nossor Ri and the Quarren."Prince Lee-Char stated."The Quarren and Mon Cala have always had a difficult relationship, but it was respectful, until Commander Tamson arrived, once that shark warlord got inside Nossor Ri's head, the alliance between the Mon Cala and the Quarren fell apart."
The Prince of Mon Cala and the three Jedi swam even further down.
Then Prince Lee-Char got an idea.
"I know what I must do."Prince Lee-Char admitted."The Mon Cala and Quarren people must be reunited."
Ahsoka, Nadia and Ferus shared a look with each other.
"Okay..."Ahsoka started.
"We like your thinking, but what's the strategy?"Nadia questioned.
"Count all the prisoners, Mon Cala, Gungans and the Clone Troopers."Prince Lee-Char insisted."If we all fought together, we would outnumber our opponent."
"If this is gonna work, we need to let your people know."Ferus suggested."They have to be ready to fight."
"We need Commander Ackbar and I think I know where to find him."Prince Lee-Char answered.
Meanwhile...
Riff and Nossor went to talk to Count Dooku in a room in the palace via hologram.
"I interrogated Master Fisto and Master Skywalker, My Lord, but they won't give up the whereabouts of Prince Lee-Char, General Olin, Commander Aomori and Commander Tano."Riff reported."Their resistance to pain's impressive but I can't say I'm surprised since I'm dealing with a Master of the Jedi Council and your arch-nemesis."
"Press the interrogation, Commander Tamson."Count Dooku ordered sternly."We cannot allow Prince Lee-Char to survive with General Olin, Commaner Aomori and Commander Tano. The royal bloodline must be broken."
"Count Dooku, is this necessary? The battle's won."Nossor reminded."Prince Lee-Char, General Olin, Commander Aomori and Commander Tano have no army to rally so now's the time for the Quarren to take the lead and think of rebuilding."
Count Dooku glared at Nossor.
"Rebuild?"Count Dooku scoffed."While this battle has been won, there's still a war going on, General Ri, in which you pledged your allegiance to the Separatist cause!"
"Of course, Count Dooku, we owe you everything."Nossor answered.
"Don't forget it soon and forever."Count Dooku warned coldly and glanced at Riff."Commander Tamson, have your soldiers arrived?"
"Soldiers?"Nossor asked in confusion.
"Yes, Count Dooku."Riff replied.
Then four Karkarodon guards arrived into the room.
"We now have the capital city under our control."Riff commented.
"Good."Count Dooku answered."Continue as planned."
The hologram of Count Dooku vanished causing Riff and his henchmen to swim away, making Nossor follow them quietly from behind.
Prince Lee-Char, Ferus, Ahsoka and Nadia followed a column of prisoners to an underwater cave used as a prison camp.
"Prince Lee-Char, this place..."Nadia started with a worried look.
"It's a prison camp."Prince Lee-Char replied.
"Eesh, I hate electric shields."Ferus mumbled."You get electrocuted by these, you are fried."
Ahsoka glanced at Prince Lee-Char.
"How can we be sure Captain Ackbar is inside?"Ahsoka asked.
"There's only one way to find out."Prince Lee-Char admitted.
Prince Lee-Char, Ferus, Ahsoka and Nadia followed the aqua droids into the prison camp before the electric shield opened again.
A group of Mon Calamaris spotted the Prince of Mon Cala and the three Jedi.
"Prince Lee-Char?"A male Mon Calamari asked as he swam up to Prince Lee-Char and his Jedi companions."Are you, General Olin, Commander Tano and Commander Aomori prisoners here as well?"
"We're here, but not as prisoners."Prince Lee-Char replied."I've come with a message as your future King, I haven't lost hope, the time's coming when you will be free again, I won't fail you."
"We want to believe, but how can this be possible?"An old Mon Calamari asked.
Then Commander Monnk went up to Ahsoka, Ferus and Nadia.
"Commander Tano, General Olin and Commander Aomori."Commander Monnk said.
"Commander Monnk, are we glad to see you."Nadia sneered.
"Yes, ma'am, but the four of you must come with me now."Commander Monnk stated."You'll attract too much attention here and I think there's two someones who'll be happy to see you."
Prince Lee-Char, Ferus, Ahsoka and Nadia began to follow Commander Monnk.
"Prince Lee-Char!"A male Mon Calamari called out."You can't leave us here!"
"Have courage."Prince Lee-Char instructed."The next time I appear to you, I will appear as your king."
The Prince of Mon Cala then followed after the clone trooper and the three Jedi.
In the Prison Cell...
Riff was losing patience with Master Fisto and Anakin since both of them refused to give answers to Prince Lee-Char's whereabouts.
"I grow tired of waiting, Master Fisto."Riff said coldly."Where are Prince Lee-Char, General Olin, Commander Aomori and Commander Tano?"
"Even if we knew, we won't say."Master Fisto admitted.
"Unfortunate."Riff replied.
Riff looked at the Qurren guard, who used its staff to hit an Eel, making Anakin get electrified and groan in pain.
"To be honest, it matters little to me."Riff retorted coldly."I would torture you either way, but Count Dooku insists I capture Prince Lee-Char, General Olin, Commander Aomori and Commander Tano and there's a slight chance you're deceiving me and holding back information I could use and in my position, I cannot afford to take chances!"
Riff then bit on Padme's breathing helmet making her get startled and a little crack appeared in her helmet, shocking Anakin.
"Time is of the essence."Riff laughed sinisterly."Now tell me what I want to know!"
Meanwhile...
Commander Monnk brought the Prince of Mon Cala and the three Jedi, where Senator Tills and Captain Ackbar were.
Senator Tills smiled at seeing Prince Lee-Char safe.
"You're alive."Senator Tills remarked in relief and looked at Commander Ackbar."Commander Ackbar, you're right."
"Prince Lee-Char, I knew you'll survive the battle."Commander Ackbar admitted.
"Commander Ackbar, I need your help."Prince Lee-Char stated."I have a plan, I know how we can win this fight."
"But the battle's over, young Prince, and it appears that we lost."Commander Ackbar said.
"No in truth, we now outnumber our enemy."Prince Lee-Char commented. "We can overwhelm them."
"But we're prisoners."Senator Tills reminded."If we revolted thousands would die."
"Not if the Quarren struck first and aided in our attack."Prince Lee-Char admitted.
"Prince Lee-Char, how can you say this?"Commander Ackbar questioned."The Quarren betrayed us when they killed your father!"
"No, Commander Ackbar, Riff Tamson killed my father."Prince Lee-Char answered."Of that, I am sure."
"The Quarren are being used, we've seen it happen before."Nadia informed with a frown."They're nothing but pawns that will eventually be disposed of once they're no longer useful."
"Count Dooku has deceived them."Ahsoka muttered.
"Well, that's no surprise."Ferus admitted with a shrug."A Sith always deceives those around them regardless, if they're an ally or foe."
Prince Lee-Char brought his attention back on Senator Tills and Captain Ackbar.
"Trust me, Commander Ackbar."Prince Lee-Char insisted with a firm tone."We'll find Nossor Ri. He was my father's trusted friend, I know he will listen."
"How can you be certain of this?"Senator Tills questioned.
"I can't, but it's time for me to lead."Prince Lee-Char replied."And this, I feel, is my only course of action."
"I'll ready our people, Prince Lee-Char."Commander Ackbar commented.
"But, Commander Ackbar, you're injured."Senator Tills reminded.
"I'll be ready to fight with our future King and my new commanding officer."Commander Ackbar answered.
"I'll marshal the remaining clones and Gungans."Commander Monnk stated."What will your signal be?"
"When a Quarren attacks our enemy, that will be your sign."Prince Lee-Char answered.
But then a group of aqua droids surrounded them.
"You're all under arrest."An aqua droid declared.
Ferus, Ahsoka and Nadia activated their lightsabers as their responds.
"No, place your blades away, my friends."Prince Lee-Char replied.
Ferus, Ahsoka and Nadia then deactivated their lightsabers, respecting the Prince of Mon Cala's order.
"I am Lee-Char, leader of the Mon Cala people and I demand to speak to your superiors."Prince Lee-Char informed.
The Aqua Droids took the Prince of Mon Cala and the three Jedi away.
In the Prison Cell...
Padme began to panic more as the crack in her helmet caused water to gush in it.
"Your friend's time is running short."Riff taunted cruelly."I'm beginning to believe you're both telling the truth and know nothing about the prince's whereabouts."
Then Riff's comlink beeped causing him to answer.
"Yes?"Riff asked.
"We have located Prince Lee-Char, General Olin, Commander Aomori and Commander Tano and have him in custody."An aqua droid reported."They requested an audience with you."
"By all means, bring them to me."Riff ordered."I shall meet you in the throne room."
"Roger, roger."the aqua droid replied.
The aqua droid then ended his call with Riff.
"The throne room?"Nossor asked.
"Yes, I want the little ones to see me in my rightful place as leader of his homeworld."Riff admitted.
"Leader?"Nossor questioned in disbelief."That wasn't our arrangement with Count Dooku!"
"No, it wasn't your arrangement."Riff answered arrogantly and laughed."It was mine!"
Riff began to swam away as Anakin yelled out at him.
"Wait! The prisoner!"Anakin protested."You have to save her!"
"No, I don't."Riff replied evilly.
"Tamson-"Anakin growled in a dark tone.
Then the Eels electrified Anakin as Riff and Nossor left the room as Padme got more water in her helmet.
"Ani, mesa have an idea."Jar Jar remarked.
"Not now, Jar Jar."Anakin stated."We need to save Padme."
"Anakin, we must create a bubble for her to breathe from."Master Fisto instructed."Use the Force to push the water away from her helmet."
"I'm on it."Anakin declared.
Anakin then closed his eyes and used the Force to make a bubble to help Padme breath.
"It's working! It's working!"Jar Jar praised and then notice the Eels."Look out!"
Then the Eels electrified Anakin, making Jar Jar spit saliva on Padme's helmet to complete the bubble.
"Jar Jar?"Padme asked awkwardly.
"Padme."Anakin said sadly."I'm sorry I couldn't-"
"I'm here."Padme replied and became uncomfortable at looking at Jar Jar's saliva."Jar Jar sealed my helmet with his..."
"Yesa, it's Gungan waterproofing."Jar Jar answered."It's why wesa swim so good."
Prince Lee-Char, Ferus, Ahsoka and Nadia were brought to the throne room of the palace to see Riff and Nossor by the aqua droids.
"Greetings, Prince Lee-Char, General Olin, Commander Aomori and Commander Tano."Riff greeted and cackled."We meet again, I must admit you were more difficult to capture than I anticipated, you have my respect as hunter to his prey."
"We don't seek, nor want your respect."Prince Lee-Char replied."I have come to demand the freedom of my people."
Riff laughed evilly at Prince Lee-Char's declaration.
"Your people? You're mistaken, Prince Lee-Char."Riff retorted."They're my people and under my leadership so like you, they're nothing more than slaves for Darth Sidious."
"Your rule isn't recognized here, Commander Tamson."Prince Lee-Char stated sternly."My people are all those who live in these seas, whether they be Mon Cala or Quarren."
"Surely you have not come here seeking the aid of Nossor Ri."Riff scoffed."Do you really think he would trade his position to join you?"
"The Quarren are already slaves, though they may not see it."Princee Lee-Char admitted and glanced at Nossor Ri."Nossor Ri, you knew my father whatever differences our people had in the past, surely you must know we can work together to make Mon Cala whole, Dooku and Tamson want only to exploit us, and leave our cities broken and our resources depleted, what will then be left for the Quarren?"
Riff swam over to Nossor.
"Well, Nossor Ri, would you like to join this pitiful little fish and his dead father?"Riff questioned.
Nossor didn't say anything and looked down in sadness, much to Prince Lee-Char's dismay.
"There, you see."Riff replied evilly."What good will their help be anyway, Prince? The Quarren are more gutless than your people."
"As long as I live, I shall give all people of Mon Cala hope to fight another day."Prince Lee-Char vowed.
"Hmm, hope? We are of the same mind, Prince."Riff admitted and glanced at the aqua droids."That is why I have scheduled your public execution, take him away!"
The Prince of Mon Cala and the three Jedi were sent out by the aqua droids.
"Nossor Ri, there's still time!"Prince Lee-Char protested."Unite and we will defend our home!"
Riff let out an evil laugh as the four teenagers were taken away from the throne room.
In the Prison Cell...
"All right, I think I'm getting the hang of this."Anakin admitted.
Anakin grunted when he got electrified by the Eels once more.
"Less talking helps."Master Fisto reminded.
But then Riff's men came and the robots began to sent Master Fisto, Anakin, Padme and Jar Jar up.
"Jar Jar, I can't see anything."Padme replied."Where are they taking us?"
"Hey, yousa."Jar Jar stated looking at an aqua droid."Where yousa taking us?!"
"To the execution of Prince Lee-Char."the aqua droid answered.
The members of the Republic were united with the rest and the prisoners were all taken to witness the Prince of Mon Cala's execution, who was circled by three Karkarodon.
Anakin was placed next to Ferus, Ahsoka and Nadia, who had their hands cuffed.
"Good job protecting Prince Lee-Char."Anakin praised in a sarcastic tone.
"It's all part of the plan, Master."Ahsoka replied.
"I was hoping you were going to say that."Anakin answered."Anything I can do?"
Ferus just frowned while Nadia rolled her eyes.
"Unfortunately, this time it's out of our hands."Nadia responded.
"I'm not sure I like this plan after all."Anakin admitted.
"For crimes against the Separatist state, I command the execution of former Prince Lee-Char!"Riff announced.
A Quarren swam up to Commander Ackbar and gave him a small staff.
"Commander Ackbar, Nossor Ri and the Quarren are with you."The Quarren whispered.
"Kill him!"Riff ordered.
The thee Karkarodon charged towards the Prince of Mon Cala, but Nossor went in the way and made black ink appear to distract the predators' view to save Prince Lee-Char.
"Fight, Quarren!"Nossor encouraged."Fight for Prince Lee-Char!"
Prince Lee-Char used a droid staff to fire and kill the three Karkarodon.
The Mon Calamari took down the aqua droids with the Quarren and the Gunagans.
Ahsoka, Ferus and Nafia took that as their signal and taking down the aqua droids.
They then activated their lightsabers to slash the eels to release Fisto and Anakin.
Anakin used his lightsaber to slash the droids that were holding Padme and embracing her.
"Send in more droids!"Riff ordered.
"Roger, roger."An aqua droid replied.
The aqua droids started firing at the Quarren and the Gunagans.
Then more Aqua droids showed up, but the Quarren, Mon Cala, Jedi, Gungans and clones fought back.
Prince Lee-Char held a staff while Riff held an explosive knife.
"Prince Lee-Char."Riff snarled.
"Your rule's at an end before it started just like Darth Sidious' will soon be, Commander Tamson!"Prince Lee-Char informed.
Prince Lee-Char and Riff started fighting each other.
But then the Prince of Mon Cala grabbed Riff's explosive knife and gave him a deadly glare.
"I killed your father without pity or mercy."Riff declared coldly.
"Then I'll return the favor!"Prince Lee-Char replied with a brave look.
Prince Lee-Char threw the knife-like device at Riff, who charged at him.
But the Prince of Mon Cala used his staff to fire at the Karkarodon, making the explosive knife explode and making Riff's corpses spread in the water.
The allies of the Republic had won the battle!
"The day is won!"Nossor declared proudly.
"Long live the Prince!"Captain Ackbar commented.
"Long live the Prince!"the Mon Calamari and the Quarrens chanted."Long live the prince! Long live the Prince!"
Afterwards in the Throne Room, Prince Lee-Char arrived to be crowned and to be greeted by his allies.
"Your father would be so proud."Senators Tills assured.
Prince Lee-Char smiled a bit at Senator Tills.
"I know."Prince Lee-Char answered quietly.
An old male Mon Calamari brought a shell chest which had a crown on it.
"May the blessings of the water keep you."the Old Mon Calamari informed."The might of your ancestors, give you strength."
Nossor placed the crown on Prince Lee-Char's head, making him now the new King of Mon Cala.
"As representative of the Quarren people, I pledge our loyalty to you."Nossor admitted.
"And as your King, I pledge my loyalty to all people of Mon Cala."King Lee-Char stated.
Padme, Anakin, Master Fisto, Ferus, Ahsoka and Nadia smiled at King Lee-Char.
"I present King Lee-Char!"the Old Mon Calamari announced.
The civilians of Mon Cala clapped and cheered at the coronation of the new King.
"Long live the king! Long live King Lee-Char!"the Mon Calamari and the Quarrens chanted happily while clapping."Long live the king! Long live King Lee-Char!"
