this chapter will officially start the fate stay night arc
I will cover episode 1-4 of fsn 2006 with changes for this story in general and different reasons. I plan to mix some events from other routes in later
The story will follow many of the same points but make changes that I won't get into now.
I will use vanilla saber Artoria [ no alter]
The major changes will be Ravel in the story and the general time of year this story takes place.
In the Og story Shirou is in his second year but in this he will be in his first year and that will be important to reaper of Rome and the greater universe of this story
This also takes place a year before the event so the high school dxd story proper but also take place a month after the events of red pyramid and even longer after Battle of the Labyrinth, but I will get into why later in the story.
Shirou pov
Kiritsugu was always bad at leaving notes and never left enough material that I could ever be a decent magus. But even Halsin could tell he was never really a good magus. Besides he family magical style and his magus killer bullets he never really knew magical combat. I had much more potential than he ever could.
I basically had to practice the mage craft arts my two mentors could teach alone with the runes and druidic arts that Halsin could teach me to do as much as I could. Even though I knew the grail war was happening and I could be a master, I had no idea how to summon a servant so I just had to live with it until I could figure out how. But it would be best I transferred to Fuyuki to watch what happened and maybe run into the process of how to summon a servant or ran into a servant master with a servant and learn that way.
It was after a night of training in magic, Ravel woke me up for breakfast and I knew I would have to do my daily physical training at school at school since I woke up late. If I didn't cook breakfast on time Halsin would turn into a bear, kill a wild animal, and eat it. Then go to work smelling like said dead animal and the other teachers and students would notice at some times. He had recently started as a biology teacher at Kou. It turned out beings with very long lifespans would end up getting many degrees just to pass the time and that was one of the many he had.
During my time at Fuyuki, I tried to figure out if there were any other masters by trying to be as helpful as possible and if could get any to reveal themselves to me. Part of that was by helping the various clubs with repairs and doing so would help me practice my magic. it was during one of those days, I ran into a girl that had a magical signature to her that felt like she could be a master that was Rin Tohsaka and her family name alone set off alarms due to her father being a master in the last holy grail war.
I also had to try and keep track of transfer students or others new to town to track potential masters. Ravel had alerted me to trouble within the roman, Greek, and Egyptian factions. I had also recently learned a few strange murders and large-scale accidents had recently happened in the area as well. I was sure these had to be servant related and more so as I ran into a strange girl that used language no girl should use.
Over dinner, I talked to Ravel and Halsin about and both were being extra careful around the city at night. It was the night after I ran into Rin that I trained more and watched out for trouble, but nothing happened, and I worried how much longer it would be until it did.
It was while was practicing using magic to make repairs, Ravel came in to tell me "From what I have heard somebody recently released the Egyptian gods back into the world and it seems both the Greek and roman factions are at war on different fronts against the titans with the minor Greek gods on the titans' side. I wouldn't be surprised if both factions have fielded masters in this war." I then asked her "does either side know about the biblical factions?" Ravel said, "they may be aware of the devils, but we rarely interact, and it would be best the devils stay away from the other factions for now."
It was the next day at school that things went normally with me helping at a few different clubs between and after classes. But the archery club ended up needing my entire attention due to me being left with all the cleaning. It was after I finished, that I ran into a battle between what had to be two servants, one in blue and one in red. I knew you couldn't judge a servant's class by their weapons, but one blue servant had a spear and the other in red had two blades. As soon as they saw me, I ran until the blue servant caught me and stabbed me with his spear. After that I passed out from the blood lose.
The next thing I knew, I woke up in bed and discovered I was naked. Then after checking around, I found Ravel in bed with me. I then shook her to wake up and discovered she was naked as well and she said to me in a sleepy voice "we didn't have sex, but you are no longer human. You are a devil now, the queen of my peerage. I placed a spell on your uniform to notify me the moment you were close to death, that was the perfect moment to revive you. If you are worried a devil can still be a hero. I also recently reincarnated Halsin as my rook. As for the time it has been about two hours and your body isn't fully adjusted to the change, if there are any issues let me know and I will check with Sona and Rias. I managed to get to you right before that Rin girl did and told her I was taking you back home. She seemed happy enough with that and didn't ask any other questions."
It was after that we both got dressed only for the spear servant to attack us at the perfect moment in my house. But thankfully as soon as he saw her Ravel teleported away. I knew she would get back to me as soon as possible. I was barely able to hold him off with a reinforced metal poster and learned figured out my magic circuits were way off in the process. I could just tell my magic wasn't working as well as it could be. But I couldn't figure out how exactly. The servant got lots of good hits on me, but I was able to dodge a little bit.
It was as the battle hit my shred and I was clearly in danger that I noticed a magic circle and soon touched it. After I did an armored girl that referred to herself Saber came out and fought off the spear servant. She had on a blue and white dress and had armor as part of her dress. Her hair was blond and was about a shade lighter that Ravel and she seemed to be holding a sword I couldn't see. She said to me "I am servant Saber your servant, I have come in response to your summons, and you are my master." I then said to her "yes, I am your master." While internally I was happy to have the servant of the saber class. but before I could ask any more questions, she ran off to face off with the blue clad servant.
I then left the shed to watch their battle, and see the Saber used an invisible weapon against the spear servant. She then revealed the blue clad servant to be lancer and he tried to guess her weapon. He then threw the spear, which saber dodged, and lancer revealed its name as Gea borg. Then Lancer revealed his true name as Cú Chulainn as he ran off. it was then Saber asked me to heal her wound and I then drew the 'b' like Berkano rune on her breast plate and said, "for now that is the most magic, I can use, for some reason my magic system isn't working as well as I would like." She then replied as she looked at the mark "a blood rune should work well enough for now."
It was then she jumped off to attack the servant in red that battled Lancer. She then went on to attack the girl i knew as Rin Tohsaka until I ordered Saber to stop as she revealed the servant in red was Archer. I then told Saber, "I know this girl from school, if she can help me a little bit keep her alive for now." To thank me, Rin used magic to fix the damage to my house and asked me "can you at least that much?" I replied to her "sadly between the fact my two teachers sucked and the fact my magic circuits haven't been working over the last few minutes. I can barely do anything magic wise besides runes right now."
Rin then looked over my servant and confirmed she could change into spirit form, due to my incomplete summoning of her. it was after that, Rin said "I will take you to someone to explain more about the holy grail war." She then took me to a church and Saber agreed to wait outside as a guard. Inside said church, I felt my strength drain a bit and knew I would have to ask Ravel what was going on as soon as I could. I had a feeling she and Halsin went to Kou to hide while I was under attack. Inside the church, while I did my best to cover up my discomfort, Rin told me the church was under the control of her mentor and legal guardian, a name named Kirei Kotomine. Just hearing that name set off red flags internally as I knew not to trust the man. Rin also seemed to not like him very much.
The priest soon asked my name, and I gave it to him and in turn he gave me a book that would magically record anything I needed about the grail war including the names and stats of the servant I had and the servants I had scene. He then explained to me the parts I didn't already know about the holy grail war and that it was a clash between master and servant pairs over the wish granting holy grail. Then he explained that to use grail six of the seven servant would have to die and the servant left would touch the grail and get to make a wish for themself or their master.
I knew I had to fight in this war alone to prevent a master from the darker side of the Greek or Egyptian factions from getting their hands on the grail if either was in the war. but I really didn't have much of a wish myself besides to prevent said fact. Then then told me, one of the master's from the last holy grail war caused the Fuyuki fire and I knew I had to fight just to prevent another disaster on the level of said fire. I then agreed to fight in the war for that fact alone, so I decided to fight in the war and ask for Ravel's option later. But before I could split up with Rin and head home, a girl came out of the mist with a man that even larger than Halsin and much more dangerous looking behind her.
The girl soon introduced herself as Illya Einzbern and soon said we will soon all be dead. Then the giant she called berserker attacked us. thankfully Saber was able to distract the monster of a man. But his level of speed was fasters that a man that size should be. But I could tell the blood rune hadn't had time to fully work and Saber wasn't any were close to her full power. She soon took a major body blow that I feared would take her out. but she wanted to keep fighting no matter what. It was after Saber was barely standing, Illya revealed she couldn't win due to her Berserker being the Greek hero Hercules. I knew that name due to it being a demigod myself and him showing up in the first search page.
It was as soon as she said so, I felt somebody watching us from a distance and I figured it was likely an enemy master. Illya then ordered the giant man to kill Saber, but I got in the way and took the blow for her. in my last moments of consciousness, I heard Illya's shocked reaction to my deed and Rin's angry reaction. Then I passed out and had a dream of my father and him talking about giving up on his dream. Then it shifted to a cloaked person clearly watching my recent battles.
Next thing I knew, I woke up in my bed with a naked Ravel and she told me "It was much easier to heal you this time and most said healing you did on your own. I am guessing it could be part of your sacred gear. I also explained to Saber about how you are a reincarnated devil and that I am your master as she and Halsin carried your home. Halsin healed up Saber the best he could, but she seemed to also have a passive healing ability that made his work easier. Also, Rin decided to sleep in one of the guest rooms for the night. Rin provide Saber with an outfit and underwear for the duration of the war."
In turn I explained to my devil master, "since I woke up as a devil, I have been having issues using my magic. I can used runes and a little strengthening but that's about it." Ravel then thought and said, "I will have to ask my sempais about that fact." I then said, "I think it may have something to due to the fact I am a magus and my magical circuit network." Ravel thought again and said "I will bring this up with Sona and hope she can help. I will tell you when I get back from school. Rin doesn't know we are devils yet and I will let you tell her if you want to."
It was after that, I had some tea and breakfast with Rin, Ravel and Halsin. The dark-haired girl then told use about the war but clearly had no idea about the possible people from the Greek or Egyptian factions as part of the war. She pretty much only knew as much as I did and only knew the other masters were Illya and myself. It was then she left and told me "From this point on we are enemies." After she left, I located Saber and brought my servant over to the kitchen to have some breakfast. Over breakfast, I explained to Saber that I was currently having an issue with my magic, and she still agreed to fight with me. I then asked, "would you hurt innocents increase your own power." she then told me "I would prefer not to, that would violate my oath as a knight." It was after that, I told her "At least two of the other masters have connections to evil gods and we will likely have to kill them." she then looked at me like I was crazy as she asked me "is the age of gods not over?" I replied, "from what I can tell it never ended one of my parents is even a god." With that I could tell Saber was worried as she said to me "you are going to have to fill me in on all the information the grail didn't provide me with then.

Next chapter Shirou will face off with other masters and then have to tell Saber about the information the grail didn't give her.
But first ichigo's friends will learn what lead to this war as they prepare for their own special mission
