sword dragon and the phoenix -chapter 7 – fate's end
this chapter will formally close out the fate stay night / fate arc
and will cover the last few episodes 21-24
I will do a few different things with the final battles involving the sacred gear that Shirou has.

Saber pov
I knew the archer of the former war wanted to force me into a body of his making to use me as he pleased. But I also knew I had to keep rejecting him. I wasn't sure I could win but Shirou might be able to do something using his sacred gear. But when he tried to save me, my master only ended up speared by blades. At least from the angle I so and with the fact he fell to the ground and didn't get right up, he was likely hit hard and was bleeding at least a little bit. But the blond servant then said to Shirou, "I won't kill you here and now since doing so would make it harder to keep Saber in this world for now.
After that, I took my turn by summoning Excalibur and going in for the attack, but the servant blocked by attacks but summoning blades. Then he summoned his armor and revealed his noble phantasm as 'gate of Babylon.' Then opened a portal to summon famous weapon after famous weapon and attack me. as Shirou said, "I can tell what each blade is, and each is being saved to my mind."
It was then, he brought more weapons out and I asked "who are you? No hero can have so many noble phantasms." He replied to that with "I am the original hero, the first king Gilgamesh." But I still stood against him as he pulled out a strange spinning sword and Shirou said, "it's beyond sky breaker." As I unleashed my attack, he did the same and it blew me back and left me battered and broken. He then laughed maniacally as we both tried to get up. but I passed out not long after.
Shirou pov
It was a Saber fell that I heard a male voice in my head saying, "if you can make it over one final hurdle, we may be able to defeat this man." I then got up fully and summoned Caliburn. But Gilgamesh responded by saying "this is the sword the fae used a basis for that blade, the sky breaker you mentioned, it is the sealed state of Ea." He then used the blade to cleave through my shoulder or at least that's how it felt but a piece of armor seemed to block his attack at the right moment as the voice in my head said, "you are close struggle more, fight more, don't give up and we can win." as I got up, I felt armor beginning to form over my body then my circuits surged with power and then in front of me was something that looked like a golden scabbard as everything below my neck was covered in armor that matched by gloves.
It was then Saber came to me and told me "Place your hand on Excalibur as I place it inside of that." As we did, the archer servant unleashed an attack that felt like a tornado, but the scabbard reflected his attack. After that, I felt the strength drain from me as both my armor and Saber's armor fell off. I then had to cover her with my shirt as we both barely made it back to my house.
When we got home, we both barely got redressed and passed out my bed in each other's arms. It was then I saw visions of the final battle between Saber and an armored woman that looked like her reflection but with different armor and more wild hair. It was after that, I had visions of Caliburn breaking and woman giving Saber a new sword and Scabbard.
It was after that; I woke up with Saber at my side and she said "that scabbard healed the two of us completely. But the battle drained the two of us completely. When I slept the dragon within you told me 'You were close to that final point, and you will need to break through to win the final battle.' That armor is the most powerful state of your sacred gear, but you aren't fully ready to use it yet. Also, when I woke up Halsin told me he was leaving with Ravel for a hideout he had in the woods until the war was over. He didn't give many details but told me he will return soon."
After that, I asked about that scabbard, and she told me "That is one part of my noble phantasm set, Avalon and I lost it before the final battle until now. I don't know what happened to it." After that Saber tried to cook me food but I just ordered a few pizzas as a quick and easy thing to eat for now. when then waited for pizzas as I told Saber about the visions and she explained what each meant, she told me the woman was her 'son' Mordred and the woman was the lady of the lake. She then told me about Mordred and how her sister stole the seed that was meant to create a child between her and Guinevere. Then said sister placed the seed within her to create an artificially aged child. After that and when the child reached sexual maturity Mordred likely had a child of her own to carry on the blond line.
After we ate and slept a few more hours, I went to the church and searched it to find lancer with the priest and then the spearman stabbed me in what would have been a fatal blow, if a piece of armor blocked the attack at the last moment. But doing so drained my strength and I passed out.
Saber pov
At the house, I talked, and she revealed Illya was close to death and wouldn't last much longer due to being the vessel for the holy grail. After that the girl discovered that someone else stole lancer from his former master and said master is alive without an arm and somebody was likely using her to at least partly power lancer. Then Rin and I figured had to the priest Kirei. After that Rin figured out Shirou was at the church and then I knew, I had to get there very soon.
I soon arrived at the church to find Shirou with Lancer blocking my path. But as I was about to strike the servant down. the priest stopped me and said "I have this devil bound so he can't do much in this cursed church. I don't know how he survived Lancer's attack, but I do know how to bind a devil and I can kill him soon.
Shirou pov
As I was bound by the priest, he mentioned the former grail war and how he was the one that caused the fire that destroyed my former life. He then offered me the chance to undo the damage, but I knew if I didn't live for those that died and for my king it would be for nothing. but I turned him down, the priest tried to get Saber to kill me to get her wish. But even I knew she really didn't want the wish that called her at first and then she turned him down as well.
After that, Saber had me take her hand and that removed the binding Kirei placed on me and restored my strength. But after that, the priest called out Gilgamesh and revealed he has claimed the servant from Rin's father after killing the man. Then the servant said to Saber "after you destroyed the grail in the previous war, I was sucked into it and then given another chance at life. I learned in this world, another version of me has lived to modern times and has claimed the true immortality that I lost."
It was after that, Kirei revealed the current grail has a taint leftover from the third holy grail war. that filled made it only grant cursed wishes. As well as tainted the throne of heroes to the very core." After that, he ordered the two servants to kill the two of us, but Lancer turned on the former archer class servant and then told us "Please find the master that summoned me and save her, she is in another room of the church and could help you." We could both tell Lancer stood little chance to win.
We soon figured out the location of the master and discovered a woman with short red hair in a business suit missing an arm and then with the help of Saber dragged her back to the house as Saber explained to me that the scabbard was a gift she was given with Excalibur and was the true source of her strength in battle. after that she told me "a boy with long pink hair took it from me before the battle. that boy must have been my grandson and Mordred's child." After that we came to figure the grail needed to be destroyed at the same time the woman woke up and left for a place to get a new arm.
Rin pov
I waited at the house with illya to for when Shirou and Saber returned but the person that greeted me at the door was Kirei and he left be beaten and kidnapped Illya. I then had to try and heal myself the best I could while waiting for the servant and master pair to return.
Shirou pov
We returned a little later to find Rin bloody but alive and she told us Kirei came and took illya. After that we patched Rin up a more stable state as I told her Kirei killed her father. Then Rin told me us that Kirei was about turn into the holy grail and use her to make a wish very soon. before passing out Rin told the two of us "you have about twelve hours before he can complete the grail so you two need to rest. I suggest having special time with Saber before the battle to make sure she will be at full power."
After that, Saber and I shared the bed and night, and we came together as I made a near perfect copy of Avalon for her to use in the final battle. I was prepared to give the original to Saber but the voice within that had to be the dragon told me "You will need to keep Avalon to return to this girl soon enough." Saber was okay to use my copy in battle as we both fell to sleep after a night of passion.
The next morning, we ate and talked with Rin as she said "the best place he could summon the grail in the shrine Caster used as a base. Most of what she set up still remains in place to summon it." then she handed a me a dagger and said "this still be able to kill Kirei no matter what and pay him back for killing my father. But you might need that dragon's power to land the final blow."
After that we left for final battle as I prepare to have to see Saber at the time I returned Avalon to her. after that we split up between two parts of the battlefield on one, I was face Kirei and on the other Saber would face Gilgamesh.
Saber pov
I stood before the golden king as he wanted to claim me and force the curse into me and make me his. I knew I would need to try and at least hold the servant off long enough for Shirou to kill his master. I then used my blade to hold off the many swords while Shirou headed to face the priest.
Shirou pov
I soon arrived in the ritual site to see Kirei standing in front of a crucified illya in a state for turn her fully into the grail. Behind my adopted sister was the grail and out of it poured black mud and I knew that mud was what left my father with the curse that killed him and if I didn't stop it would completely destroy this city and maybe more.
When I tried to get Kirei to stop, he stated he truly wanted to completely destroy this world and I knew I had to stop him. but his mud tentacles blocked by path, and I knew it would only get worse. I knew I would likely need to figure out how to fully form the armor to piece this mud. I kept struggling but the armor wasn't forming around me. At the same time, I would see Saber struggling from what I could only guess was the moon. the only solace I had was being able to see each of the golden king's blades and ad them to the storage within my soul.
But I could also tell Saber was struggling as well as the priest was lecturing me in the middle of the battle. he told me he hated my stepfather due to how close the two were at the time. I could tell Halsin, Ravel and I helped Kiritsugu grow while this man was swallowed up by his own hate. He even admitted to placing the death curse on my father as he throw a death curse on me and I was swallowed in darkness.
Saber pov
As Shirou was at the edge from the scream I heard, I was struggling as well with the golden king trying to curse me as he said "I won't be like that other me, the one that chose a life of solitude and helping others. I will live on to rule over this world. I will force you to live as my bride and make that other me suffer for all eternity." After that he unleashed another blast from his sword and so did I. but I wasn't sure If I could get up after it.
it was then I felt a surge of power coming from the other side of the battlefield as Shirou must have hit the point to unleash the dragon's true power. I knew I needed to use Avalon to help me win.
Shirou pov
As I was struggling in the pool of mud and death curses, I felt hands trying to drag me to death as I felt the pain my father must have felt. But as I did, my resolve sparked hard and I could feel the last thing holding me back break down as the voice of the dragon said, "you've reached it, justice dragon balance breaker." I then exploded out the curse egg in platinum armor covering me as my power as at its peak. The voice of the dragon said, "you have one minute to win this for now that's all your body can handle." I then said, "that's all the time I will need." As my aura of justice neutralized all the curses and I charged on my dragon wings. At the same time the priest said to me "you have a sacred gear and you gained balance breaker so fast." I then flew to the wicked priest and stabbed him with the dagger as Rin wanted me to.
At the same time, Saber struck the final blow on the golden servant and won her battle. After I stabbed Kirei he said "how did you get this dagger. The same one I used to kill the elder Tohsaka?" I said, "it's payback from Rin." As the man died and the grail portal closed. After that the constructs holding illya broke up as I made a cover to hold her. but when I checked I could tell my sister was dead.
After that, I used my final command seals and ordered Saber to destroy the cursed grail. At that time, I figured out that I did love Saber as much as I loved Ravel. But I knew she had to destroy the cursed grail and return to her own time, so that she could be reborn to save England. After that Saber and I said our goodbyes as I said to her "see you when before the time of Britain's greatest need." With that she vanished.
As the day passed, Rin and I had private funerals for Sakura, Shinji, and Illya. Then after that I went to find Haslin's private cabin and soon found Ravel and him helping a girl that looked very much like Saber but with longer hair. Then at the next moment I said, "Saber how did you get back so fast." As I looked over the girl fully to see she had no clothes on, and her bust was at least a little bigger than the Saber I knew. I soon knew to turn around as Ravel told me "leave the room and let me dress her then I will explain."
Saber pov
After I faded away from the present time, I woke up again at my dying moment with one of my knights standing over me and I told him, "Please return Avalon to the lady of the lake and call for another knight to take me to Avalon." After that, I slept again, and my next moment was in a tight place shared with two others.
Chapter end
I won't get back to the fate of Saber for a little while
But next chapter Shirou will learn who the new 'saber' is and get many more surprises as well
But first ichigo will return to the living world as Rukia has to deal with aizen and his turncoats
