"You can take your destiny into your own hands! Decide for yourself how you will live your life! If the world wants you to fail, then you fight back! Look at me! I'm a hybrid! I shouldn't exist! My destiny is to be hunted down for the rest of my life, yet do you see me hiding in some bunker for the rest of my life!" declared Lopunny. Infernape was stunned. She…She was right. He might very well have just put destiny into his own hands. But…how could he fight back against the world. Lopunny seemed to read his mind. She pulled herself up and kissed him. The fire type was left wide-eyed. Once Lopunny pulled away, she said, "Don't worry. I'll be there for you."

Infernape gulped but he trusted her. He pulled her up and held her bridal style,

"I'll…I'll see what I can do."

"Arceus in heaven!" yelled Aggron. The two looked back up at the top of the cliff where Aggron was watching, "You gave me a heart attack!" Lopunny chuckled to herself,

"Sorry!" Infernape and Lopunny then flew back up to the land. Infernape and Lopunny then sat down, taking in the sight. The sun was setting, leaving behind a gorgeous painting of orange and navy blue. Infernape stared at the sun. He confessed,

"I'm scared."

"Hey," said Aggron, "That's fine. But look at the sun. What does it mean to you?"

"The end of the day, literally speaking," said Infernape. Aggron chuckled lightly before saying.

"Well, think about it like this. It's the start of a new day. Metaphorically speaking." He said that last part sarcastically. Infernape smirked at the steel type. However, beneath that grin was a deep sadness. He knew that there was something to be done. Something he had been dreading for eight years.

He would have to apologize to his brothers.

"I should've known that you wouldn't stay at the hospital." All three looked over to see Blastoise walking towards them with a little grin. Lopunny gulped,

"How did you know?" she asked. Blastoise looked towards Aggron,

"Aggron texted me." Betrayed, Lopunny stared daggers at Aggron and yelled at him,

"How could you? I didn't want him to find out!" Aggron wasn't going to take this lying down He argued,

"You aren't fully healed!" Blastoise placed a hand on Aggron's shoulder, silencing him. He went onto one knee and glanced at Lopunny before focusing on Infernape,

"At ease, soldier. How do you feel?" Infernape couldn't say anything. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to feel. The memories of the night prior replayed in his head. Both the highs and the lows. He remembered performing before hundreds of people mere hours before holding the body of some he loved whom he thought dead. Never had he felt so free but so trapped. However, there was one thing he knew for certain.

"I want to be free again, even if for a second."

In the mindscape, Gardevoir heard those last words before being met with silence. She screamed out,

"Garchomp! HANTAI!" Silence. She tried to move, but she couldn't. That left her alone. She hated this. She hated being alone. Fighting was getting harder and harder. Her will was slowly evaporating. This couldn't end like this. With no idea what was going on, she was left only with her worries. Garchomp could've been hurt, or worse. Fighting as hard as she could, Gardevoir tried everything to free herself from this mental prison. However, she still needed something to push her over the edge.

Back in the physical world, Garchomp took in the scene. The sky had shifted to a cotton candy from Alakazam's power. Boulders floated around like little moons. Trees and park equipment surrounded this asteroid field. The park had been transformed into something unrecognizable. It was beautiful in a strange way.

However, now was no time for sightseeing. Defeating Malamar and saving Gardevoir was a priority. Garchomp lept from boulder to boulder, using the lack of gravity to leap great distances. Malamar saw this and ordered Alakazam and ordered him to,

"Send everything you've got!" Alakazam raised a hand forward, sending several boulders towards the dragon type. They all meshed together into this massive clump of rock. Garchomp was undeterred. She lunged headfirst into the stone, effortlessly burrowing through it like a shark through the ocean. Emerging from the rock, surrounded by stone pillars, Garchomp thrust her hands forward, sending them towards Malamar. Gardevoir then rushed in front of her master under orders to defend him. However, Garchomp anticipated this.

The pillars surrounded Gardevoir, trapping her within the rocks. Garchomp went over Gardevoir's prison and barreled towards Malamar. Malamar screamed,

"ALAKAZAM! KI-" he was interrupted. Garchomp punched him as hard as she could. The force sent him plummeting down to the ground. He slammed into a cliffside. For a split second, he blacked out. For Alakazam, he was too deep in for this second to mean anything. For Gardevoir, however, she was now fighting for her freedom.

This was everything she needed.

Gardevoir felt feeling return to her body. Seeing her chance, she fought as hard as she could. It felt like she was slowly melting free from an icy prison. Movement was being returned to her. All she had to do was keep fighting. She felt warm hands on her shoulders but she couldn't see. That didn't stop her from knowing,

"Hantai!" exclaimed Gardevoir.

"Yes! It's me!" said Garchomp, "You're almost there! Just keep fighting." Finally, that black void Gardevoir had been trapped in began to fade into reality. Her vision was filled with the blue, yellow, and red scales of Garchomp. The two then locked eyes.

"Garchomp…you saved me. After what I did, you saved me," said Gardevoir softly. Garchomp warmly grinned at Gardevoir,

"Of course. It's like I said. You can change. Just…what happened?" Gardevoir filled the dragon type in on the details. Upon hearing Gardevoir went to Alakazam for help, Garchomp smiled,

"See! You went out your way to improve. You aren't-"

A psychic beam shot clean through Garchomp's chest. The rocks around them began to crumble. Gardevoir was frozen for a second, processing what she saw. A warmth appeared on her chest. Looking down, Gardevoir saw her chest was stained with blood. Her girlfriend's blood had spilled.

"You stupid bitch," said Malamar smugly. He grabbed the weakened Garchomp telekinetically and held her in front of him. "You thought you could free someone from my control? I'm not surprised. People like you don't know when to bow your head and give up. Now, I think this little tantrum of yours has come to an end." In defiance, Garchomp spat at the squid. It landed on his cheek. Livid, he looked over to Gardevoir and demanded, "Slave. Kill her."

Gardevoir didn't respond. Her body shook ever so slightly. Malamar glared at Gardevoir. He repeated his command,

"Kill her now!" and once more. Gardevoir didn't move. It was then that he realized that she was now free. Before he could do anything about it, Gardevoir shot him with a fairy type blast. Malamar was thrown back until he landed into one of the floating boulders. Once he got his bearings, he looked up to see that Gardevoir was surrounded by rainbow energy. A cat's eye pattern surrounded her. The very air itself seemed to quake in Gardevoir's presence. Psychic waves shot through the air, tearing apart the floating boulders. A sphere of energy that had surrounded Gardevoir exploded, revealing the mega-evolved and very angry Gardevoir. Her 'dress' had evolved into a full blown gown. The spike on her chest was split in two, like a broken heart. Her eyes held a desire for vengeance.

Garchomp was caught in the air. She was held with what felt like an all-encompassing embrace. She was then lifted up to Gardevoir's level. Looking at her girlfriend, Garchomp blushed slightly. Gardevoir raised her hand. A soothing sensation came over the dragon's chest. Looking down, Garchomp was stunned to see that psychic energy was entering her wound. Slowly, it closed up. Garchomp patted her chest, in disbelief at what she had just seen. Garchomp looked up to see Gardevoir's outstretched hand.

"Join me. Let's finish this. Together."
