The Alpha Parasect, and Agile and Strong Styles
The group was continuing on their way to the Grandtree Arena. They have been taking every opportunity to train up their Pokemon ever since their encounter with the Miss Fortune Bandits, as well as add more data from the battles to the pokedex.
The power of Lincoln's Pokemon has grown quite a deal since he's extra motivated to get them much stronger. His Quilava has learned Swift, his Luxio has learned Thunder Wave, and his Buizel simply grew stronger.
The Loud sisters' Pokemon have grown stronger as well.
Lori's Staravia has learned Air Slash and Roost, while Beautifly learned Silver Wind.
Leni, Lana, and Lola's Dewott has learned Water Pulse.
During Leni's Eevee's training, she froze up and started to glow.
"My Eevee's evolving!" said Leni as everyone gathered around to watch her Pokemon's transformation; when she was done, she was bigger, her body was longer, she was a light purple, she had a red jewel on her forehead, and her was slim and split in two near the end of it.
"Your Eevee is an Espeon now." said Professor Laventon. "She's a psychic type now and has learned Confusion after doing so."
"Yayy!" cheered Leni.
Speaking of Eevees, Lola's not only learned Baby-Doll Eyes, but she also started to evolve as well. Everyone watches as she starts to change; when she finished, she has taller, her body was longer, her fur was a pale pink while her ears, feet, and tail were a dark pink, and on one of her ears and around her neck were long pink ribbons tied in bows that were dark pink, blue, and light blue at the ends of them.
"She's... so... BEAUTIFUL!" shouts Lola as she hugs her newly evovled Eevee.
"She's a Sylveon now!" said Professor Laventon. "She's a fairy type, and she should've learned Fairy Wind after evolving."
"Oh, I love her!" said Lola as she continues to embrace her new Sylveon.
"She really is beautiful." said Akari as she looks at Lola's Pokemon with awe.
Along with Lola's Eevee evolving, her Ponyta got stronger.
Lana's Monferno learned Flame Wheel, and her Munchlax learned Bulldoze. During Burmy's training, he starts to evolve as well.
"Another evolution?!" asked Professor Laventon with astonishment. Everyon watches as Lana's Burmy starts to change; when he finished, he was a mothlike Pokemon with a black body with a black upper body with white and orange antenna on his head, an orange lower body, and light orange wings with orange spots on them.
"What is he now?" asked Lana with excitement.
"He's a Mothim, Lana." said Professor Laventon. "He's part bug type and part flying type, and after evolving, he should know Gust, Confusion, and Silver Wind now."
"Yeah!" cheered Lana.
Lily's Starly evolved into Staravia and learned Air Slash and Roost, her Beautifly learned Silver Wind, her Geodude learned Iron Defense, and in addition to her Bidoof learning Bite and Rest, she also started to evolve.
"Yaay!" cheered Lily as she and everyone watched her Pokemon start to change. When she was done; she was bigger, and she had a large, flat, gray tail.
"Your Bidoof is now a Bibarel, Lily." said Professor Laventon with a smile.
"Bibawel." Lily says.
"That's right." Professor Laventon replies. "And she's part normal and part water type now, plus she should've learned Water Pulse after evolving."
Everyone watches as Bibarel lifts Lily with her tail and tosses the youngest Loud sister onto her back.
"Looks like Lily has a Ride Pokemon now." said Professor Laventon.
Lynn's Dartrix learned Magical Leaf.
Luan's Staravia learned Air Slash and Roost, her Dustox learned Silver Wind, and her Mime Jr learned Iron Defense and Zen Headbutt.
Luna's Staravia learned Air Slash and Roost, her Dustox learned Silver Wind as well; and her Kricketune learned Slash.
Lucy's Drifloon learned Hex, her Kadabra got stronger, and her Zubat learned Air Cutter.
Lisa's Pikachu learned Swift and Spark, and her Stantler learned Calm Mind.
"I'm amazed how much stronger all your Pokemon have become." said Professor Laventon as he writes the latest data all the training provided him.
"We just want to be ready if we meet up with those Miss Fortune Bandits again." said Lynn.
"I don't think Lincoln would mind running into Clover again." said Lori, making the other Loud sisters giggle, Lincoln blush, and Akari look away with a huff.
"Let's just get going." said Lincoln.
As the group continue their journey, in a part of the Obsidian Fieldlands called Nature's Pantry; Clover was out on her own while her associates were looking around for Pokemon for their teams as well as training their own.
'Those Loud siblings better beware.' Clover thought to herself as she has her Snover use Ice Shard on an orange bug Pokemon that had two mushrooms on its back. 'But I don't have any ill intent against my future husband. I wonder what he thought of that kiss.'
As Clover continues to look around the area, she goes through a small canyon pass that led to an open area. When she looks around, she notices what looks like a very large, red mushroom.
"That could give us enough food for a while." said Clover as she walks over to the giant fungus; as she got close to it, she sees it start to move and turn around, revealing that it wasn't a mushroom, but a bug Pokemon with glowing red eyes.
Meanwhile, the Survey Corps were taking a break with their Pokemon in the Nature's Pantry area.
"How much further do we have to go?" asked Lola.
"We should be getting close to a river." said Professor Laventon. "On the other side of it is the Heartwood Forest, and in it is the Grandtree Arena."
"What Pokemon we will encounter in the area?" wondered Lisa.
"I can't wait to see for myself." said Lincoln with excitement. After a while, everyone gathers their stuff so they can continue; as soon as they finished and were about to press on, they hear a loud scream from nearby.
"What was that?!" asked Rei.
"Is that a girl?" asked Luna.
"Let's check it out!" said Lori. They all ran to where they thought the scream was coming from and soon reach a small valley where they see Clover with her back against a canyon wall and her Snover unconscious with the large mushroom Pokemon approaching her.
"Is that Clover?" asked Leni.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lisa.
"That's a Parasect!" said Professor Laventon.
"Look at its eyes!" said Lincoln. Everyone sees the Parasect's eyes and see they were glowing red.
"That's an Alpha!" said Lori.
"What do we do?" asked Luan.
"Just leave her." said Lynn. "She's a bandit who's after our pokedex." As everyone talked it over, Lincoln couldn't help but worry for Clover's wellbeing.
Meanwhile, Clover was trying to find an escape route to get away from the Alpha Pokemon, but she couldn't find one. She could only watch in horror as the Parasect raises one of its claws to strike her; she closes her eyes in fear.
"Quilava, use Flame Wheel!" a voice she recognized yells out. She opens her eyes to see a familiar Pokemon do a fiery somersault into the Parasect's side, knocking it back a bit. She looks around to see Lincoln running over to her.
"Lincoln!" said Clover as her white-haired rescuer reaches her.
"Lincoln, what are you doing?!" Lori's voice calls out, making Clover look up to see the Loud sisters, Akari, Rei, and Professor Laventon on a cliff edge.
"I'm helping her!" Lincoln replies.
"Why?" asked Luna.
"I... don't want to see her get hurt." said Lincoln with a blush, making Lincoln's sisters squeal with delight while Akari frowns which Rei notices. Clover looks at Lincoln with adoration.
"My hero." said Clover.
"Be careful, Lincoln!" said Professor Laventon. The Parasect releases a large ball of purple liquid at them.
"Watch out!" said Lincoln as he grabs Clover's hand and pulls her out of the attack's path while Quilava dodges it. Lincoln then thinks back to something a member of the Security Corps named Zisu taught him and his sisters before.
Five days ago: Jubilife Village.
At a training ground in Jubilife Village, a brawny woman with red hair, wearing a Security Corps uniform was standing in front of the Loud siblings.
"I am going to teach you two different styles to use with your Pokemon's attacks." said Zisu.
"What are they?" asked Lynn Jr with interest.
"The first style is called Agile Style." said Zisu. "That style will allow you to use another attack a lot sooner after using it; a downside is that the attack is weaker."
"That would help if we want to avoid knocking out Pokemon before they can be captured." said Lisa.
"What's the other one?" asked Lincoln.
"Strong Style." answered Zisu. "That style will make the move you're using it with stronger; downside is that it will take a bit longer before your Pokemon can attack again."
"We'll be sure to remember that." said Lori.
"Now that that's out of the way; who wants to wrestle?" asked Zisu, making most of the Loud siblings, except Lynn for reasons she didn't know, run off.
End Flashback
"Now's a good time to try those styles." said Lincoln. "Quilava, use Ember Agile Style!" A surge of blue energy flares up from Quilava and he quickly releases a spray of bits of fire that hits the Parasect, doing super effective damage.
"Excellent, Lincoln." said Professor Laventon. "Fire type moves will be extremely effective against a Parasect."
"Quilava, use Ember Strong Style!" said Lincoln. This time Quilava surges with red energy and releases a spray of bigger bits of fire that hit Parasect, doing more damage; parts of its body suddenly catch fire.
"I believe that Parasect is burned." said Professor Laventon.
"You mean its attack power will be weakened, as well as take damage now and then?" asked Luna.
"Precisely." said Professor Laventon.
Meanwhile, back at the battle; Quilava looked tired.
"Strong Style's a risky style to use." said Lincoln. The Parasect swipes at Quilava with one of its pincers, hitting him, but not doing as much damage as it normally would've; it suddenly takes a bit of damage from its burn. Seeing that it looked weakened a great deal, Lincoln takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Alpha, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball shakes violently before a firework shoots out of it.
"You caught an Alpha!" said Rei.
"That's incredible!" said Professor Laventon. "And a Parasect should at least know Absorb, Stun Spore, Poison Powder, Venoshock, and Slash at least."
As Lincoln tries to walk towards his new Parasect's pokeball, he realizes that he was still holding Clover's hand, making him blush; he then notices that Clover was looking at him while trembling with excitement.
"Are you..." Lincoln started to ask before Clover tackles him to the ground and starts kissing his face all over before she kisses him on the lips with lots of passion, making Lincoln's face turn red while his sisters squeal with glee.
"You saved my life!" said Clover after she finishes kissing Lincoln.
"What's going on here?!" Charm's voice calls out, making everyone look to see her and Coin standing on the other side of the small canyon, looking down on Clover and Lincoln.
"My future husband saved me from an Alpha Pokemon!" said Clover as she hugs Lincoln, making him blush some more.
"Oh. He rescued you." said Charm.
"Thanks, we guess." said Coin.
"Don't forget we have somewhere else to be, Clover." said Charm, making Clover pout and let Lincoln go.
"As much as I want to stay with you, I have somewhere else I have to be, my darling." said Clover as she returns her unconscious Snover to its pokeball and starts to run towards her associates.
"Wait a second." said Lincoln, making Clover stop. He reaches into his satchel and pulls out a pale yellow, octahedron-shaped, object and tosses it to her; she catches it and looks it over.
"What's this?" asked Clover.
"It's called a Revive." said Lincoln. "My sister, Lana, learned how to make them a while back. It can be used to help a Pokemon that fainted wake up and restore some of its stamina." Clover looks at Lincoln with adoration at his thoughtfulness.
"Thank you." said Clover as she goes back to the other bandits as Charm throws another smoke bomb that hides their departure. Lincoln looks at the spot the Miss Fortune Bandits as the rest of the Survey Corps come down to him.
"Are you okay, Lincoln?" asked Luan with a big smile. Lincoln blushes for a while before shaking it away.
"Yeah." said Lincoln. He lets his Alpha Parasect out of its pokeball who seems to bow to him.
"Looks like Parasect respects you." said Rei.
"We should continue on." said Professor Laventon, making the rest of the Survey Corps nod. As they continue, Akari notices Rei smirking at him.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" asked Akari.
"So, you have feelings for Lincoln also?" asked Rei, making Akari blush and shush him.
Lincoln has captured an Alpha Parasect for his team, as well as got a 'reward' from Clover for rescuing her. What else will the Survey Corps discover as they continue on towards Grandtree Arena?
