Finishing up her paragraph, Lucy let out a soft sigh as she dropped her pencil she was gripping so hard and writing so intensely with. She rolled her neck around, feeling the joints pop and crack in a satisfying way. She looked around to see her fellow classmates in a similar position, some hunched over writing furiously while others were more bored, staring at some crack on the ceiling while their pencil twirled in their fingers. There was light chatter around as those who finished indulged in their own type of conversation. The teacher had assigned them all to go through a passage and write down their own interpretation on it and of course being the book-lover she was, she was all about interpretations. Her imagination can go on for days just thinking about the different possibilities in a simple sentence.

Her eyes trailed around until she looked behind her to see her best friend faced down in his arms, snoring away shamelessly as if he were at home. Nobody else seemed bothered by his lack of concern or conscience but being the good person she was, she did.

"Natsu, wake up!" She hissed, whispering softly as she shook him awake, whirling around in her seat to face him. His head swayed back and forth with her actions but he didn't move. "Natsu, seriously? You should be doing school work."

"I'm done," he responded, not even lifting his head up. "Leave me alone, Luce, I barely got any sleep last night." He whined and he was shifting his head to lean it against his arm, a slight drool mark trailing down the corner of his mouth.

"Nobody told you to play video games until the crack of dawn." She chastised, scowling as she snatched the piece of paper out from under him. "You actually finished?" Her eyes widened slightly as she scanned over his interpretation of the passage while he yawned loudly.

"I told you I did," he grumbled, trying to blink away the sleep. "Whaddaya think? Pretty good, huh?"

Lucy let out a sigh as she didn't know how to break the news to him considering it was his interpretation and technically there wasn't a wrong answer but… he completely missed it.

"Natsu, you talked about the feeling of being hungry when the passage clearly talks about romance."

"That's your interpretation," he snatched the paper from her hands, giving her a smug expression. Lucy could only scowl, trying to swat at him but he had moved back as the two started going back and forth again.

Those around watched in slight amusement, whispers and fingers being pointed their way.

"Natsu and Lucy!" The professor's voice made the entire room grow silent as well as the two culprits who froze mid-fight. "This is not a playground for you two to be climbing on top of each other like this. Please refrain from attacking one another in the classroom. I promise you two will have more time to kiss later."

The class bursted into fits of giggles as Lucy's entire face grew beet red. She looked down to realize she was practically straddling the teenager's thighs as one of her knees pressed into his leg and their hands were interlocked in a battle of strength. Obviously Natsu would have won but he was too busy trying not to fall asleep and dodge the attacks as he let her win.

It was worth it though since she had quite literally suffocated him with her blessed breasts.

"W—w—we—it's not like that, sir!" She was quick to yank away from him and scramble to her desk, face blazing. "It won't happen again."

She could only toss a glare over her shoulder as she heard the snickering and the way he twirled the ends of her hair. "You need a haircut." Was all he said and it made her want to groan out loud but instead she just leaned forward and slammed her forehead into the desk.

"Could you believe that guy? He got me in trouble!" Lucy complained loudly as Levy followed close behind, her own lunch tray sliding down the long line. "And then the professor claimed that we would have more time later to kiss! To kiss! How could he think Natsu and I could be dating?!"

Levy merely rolled her eyes, choosing to keep her tongue under wraps as she picked up a bowl of fruit.

"And then Natsu has the indecency to tell me what I need to get is a haircut. Like, I know my ends are dying but its his fault for always messing with them!"

"Such tragic times, Lu." Levy deadpanned but Lucy didn't even seem to care about her response or tone as they continued down the lunch line.

"He tried to follow me and I told him to buzz off! I am just so heated. I can't believe he got me in trouble! The entire class laughed, Lev! It was a nightmare!"

"I'm sure it was terrible," Levy tried to consult her rambling flustered friend who was mindlessly going on and on about her so-called best friend.

They continued down the lunch line as they mindlessly picked up what they wanted and they eventually made it to the line to pay, Lucy still going on and on about Natsu as Levy tried to listen in.

"Excuse me!" A timid voice approached making the two students turn to see a younger girl, presumingly a freshman with the color of her blazer. "You are… Natsu's girlfriend, right?"

Lucy's face popped red as her jaw dropped while Levy's eyebrows shot up to her hairline, eyes wide as her eyes ping ponged back and forth from her blonde friend to the young girl.

"Wh—what?"

"Well, you two are always together and so close, I assumed you were Natsu's girlfriend."

Lucy sputtered, unable to form any words as Levy began to giggle.

"Um, well, I approached you because Natsu and I share a class together and he kind of ran off and he left this behind," he held out his precious scarf and Lucy gasped at the sight. "I figured I'd give this to you so you could return it to him."

Lucy couldn't even utter any words as she took back her best friend's scarf and Levy had to be the one to thank her while she nudged the blonde to move down the line. The young girl was quick to scurry off where they watched her go back to a table full of giggling girls and Lucy was too embarrassed to even say anything about it as the two made their way to their own lunch table.

"So, Natsu's girlfriend, huh?"

"You know it's not like that, Lev!"

—X—

Impatiently tapping her foot, she grumbled under her breath nonsense as she waited for Natsu to show up.

School had just ended for the day and the two usually walked back home together since her house was on the way to his but he was late as per usual. Normally she wouldn't even mind it since she would be face deep inside of a book or her phone as she waited but the entire day was a flustered mess for her.

First Natsu gets her in trouble with their teacher and makes it seem as if she was fraternizing with him during class then she bumps into one of his many fangirls that boldly assumed she was his girlfriend which threw her off the whole day. How in the world did those two look like a couple? They fought most of the time, he pulled stupid pranks on her all the time, and they certainly did not look good together like some of her friends.

It threw her off and she spent the entire day in a daze of embarrassment. She was sure to go off on him on the way home as she made up her speech in her last class, colorful words ready to explode in an array of fireworks.

She even practiced it as she waited but as soon as she saw her best friend, it felt like everything was just words and she had tossed them out the window in a flash.

"Heya, Luce! Sorry it took a while. Gray thought he won the soccer game so I had to teach him a lesson," his contagious grin was enough for her to feel swoon to his boyish charms. "You want to stop by that dessert shop on the way home?"

"Yeah I do!" She grinned widely as the two were on their way, arms linked together.

They spoke about nonsense as they walked, talking about their day and their friends like it was any other day. Until Natsu mentioned his missing scarf and it made her suddenly remember what her entire mission was.

"Speaking of that," Lucy said as she stopped mid-walk causing him to jerk back by the sudden stop. Her arm slipped away from his and she swung her backpack around to dig in it while he watched with his eyebrow raised. "Some girl gave this to me during lunch and asked me to give it back." She pulled out his scaly white scarf that had him beaming.

"Wow! You're the best, Luce! Of course you'd get it back for me!" He gasped dramatically, snatching his precious scarf to wrap it around his bare neck. "Thanks!"

"Don't thank me, thank your classmate. I can't believe you'd be such a ditz to run out of class like that."

"I guess I was in a rush," he smiled sheepishly as the two returned to their walk to the dessert shop.

"And while we're on the topic," she readjusted the straps of her backpack on her shoulder as Natsu came to the front door to open it. The soft jingle of the bell tinkled and they walked into the cool building where many similar students sat around, enjoying the newly built shop. "She said something so ridiculous that it totally threw me off."

"Yeah?" He tried his best to pay attention but the desserts were making it hard for him.

"Yeah, she thought we were a couple." She snorted as she came right beside him, her own brown eyes taking in the many parties and baked goods. "Ooh, banana nut caramel muffin? I'm getting that one." She cooed, finger pressed against the glass to point at the one she wanted. "What about you?" She turned her head to see Natsu was now staring at her and not at the baked goods. His eyebrows were pinched and he looked a bit confused, hands shoved in his pockets while his dark obsidian eyes locked with hers. "What?"

"Huh?"

"What?" She repeated and Natsu cocked his head to the side.

"I'm just trying to figure out what was ridiculous about that?"

"What? The fact that she thought we were a couple?"

"Yeah?" His head was turning even more as if he had a nick in his neck, genuine confusion playing on his face. "I thought we were?"

"What?" Lucy felt like she was saying this a lot while her jaw dropped, head jerking forward and she knew she looked ridiculous but what did he just say?

"What?" He echoed and she felt like the two were just bouncing the word back and forth as if he wasn't the one to just casually declare they were a couple.

"Who says?"

"I thought we both established that we were." He blinked stupidly and Lucy just wanted to slam her head against this glass window and shatter it with her large forehead.

She was at a loss for words because she was ninety percent her best friend was a dud and she was ten percent sure she might be dreaming. But then again, she wouldn't have had such a wind whirl of a day if she was and for Natsu to be standing so close to her and looking at her as if she was the stupid one made her blood boil.

"Natsu," she practically hissed, cheeks burning red. "When the hell have we ever established we were more than friends?"

He blinked dumbly once more and she just wanted to punch him in the throat.

"Right before school started. At Erza's pool party."

Now it was her turn to blink stupidly as she waited for him to continue.

"Don't you remember? You got stupid drunk and kissed me and told me I don't belong to anyone else but you and you made me promise the same?"

She kept blinking as if she was hoping this was just a terrible dream and she would wake up any minute.

She didn't.

"Wh—what are you talking about?" Her cheeks flushed deeper red and she stepped aside to allow the people behind them to go ahead as the two moved further up against the wall, trying to continue the conversation and also get out the way. "I don't remember this."

Natsu snorted. "Of course. You were obliterated that night. Threw up all over my shoes and in the punch bowl?" He said as if she would remember just from those two incidents. "Well," his hand moved up to the back of his neck as he rubbed it, an awkward smile coming to his face. "I guess that's my fault for not saying anything the next day."

"Natsu, that was nearly two months ago!" She remembered how they were in a public shop and she flicked her eyes over to see people staring and she tried to move further away. "You didn't think you should say anything to me? Especially since you thought we were a couple?"

He just shrugged, nonchalant about the entire thing. "I mean, is it that big of a deal?"

"Considering you have been in a one-sided relationship this entire time," she scowled at his smiling face. "Maybe it would have been nice to know that I had a boyfriend."

"Eh," he shrugged once more and Lucy really wanted to Lucy Kick him in the throat. "Who cares? We're always going to be together, right?"

Her heart skipped a beat at his words and she tore her gaze away from his grinning face, her chin dipping down to hide the blush that had taken over.

"Idiot…" she grumbled, crossing her arms across her chest with a pout on her lips.

"Come on," he reached forward, tugging at her hand to bring her closer. She stumbled against him and growled at him. "I'll buy ya some dessert, yeah?"

"You're going to need to buy me more than dessert to make up for your stupid mistake!"

He laughed out loud, his hand squeezing hers affectionately. "Whatever my girl wants."
