Her cheeks flush pink. "I don't think life works like that."
Another yawn.
"It doesn't," I say, standing. "But I have faith in us."
I pull her blanket up and tuck it around her.
Her eyes are on my face the whole time.
I lift our sleeping daughter's carrier. "Masie says goodnight."
"Did we pick that name?" she asks sleepily.
"Yeah. Masen is my middle name."
"Edward Masen Cullen," she mumbles, eyes closed. "It'll do."
I huff a laugh through my nose. "It has so far."
I stand there another five minutes.
Then leave.
Jake stays in the waiting room.
Only 1 a day on the weekends :)
