It was a starlit night as the world of Ninshu teemed with life.
Two young siblings, no older than 5 and 6 laid atop a rooftop as they looked at the stars above them.
The mocha colored boy with the afro smiled up at the sky as his brown eyes glistened, this was Geleel Otsutuki, son of Hagoromo Otsutsuki and Hanan Otsutsuki.
Next to him was his brown haired half sister, as her black eyes stared at the sky as well...the moonlight making her slightly tanned skin brighter, this was Karina Otsutsuki, daughter of Hagoromo Otsutsuki and Aiko Otsutsuki.
"So Karina, why do you think papa keeps telling us about all this, you guys are the future of the Otsutsuki clan and the Bending world, mumbo jumbo?" Geleel questioned his sister who chuckled at his impression of their father.
"I don't know yet Geleel, but what I do know, is we won't let him down, right wolf boy?" She questioned her brother who sighed.
He knew she was referencing the 10 Tailed Wolf that his father had sealed into him when he was but a baby...that same wolf was apparently the REAL Juubi, but Hagoromo said only Geleel would ever be able to handle his power.
Geleel had questioned why the black seal on his neck was there...or why the wolf chose him apparently but, all of his questions would be answered later on down the line when the Juubi would speak to him at random times.
"Hey Karina." Geleel began as Karina hummed at him.
"Just promise me, no matter what happens, we'll always be brother and sister." Geleel said as Karina turned to him.
"Ofcourse Geleel, I will always be your sister and you will always be my brother...I'm still gonna beat you in every spar though." Karina said with a chuckle as she jumped up and leaped off of the roof.
"In your dreams!" Geleel shouted as he leaped up and ran after his sister.
The two siblings were the best of the best, they were forever happy.
However...as unfortunate as it may be, siblinghood almost always entailed a rivalry or jealousy in some way.
See, as Karina and Geleel trained for their ever approacing purpose, the former grew angry and sour at how much attention their father showed to Geleel.
The golden boy...Mr. Juubi Jinchuriki...all of the praise Hagoromo tried to share equally to his son and his daughter in hopes of not creating the same situation as Indra and Ashura...was not enough for Karina.
As the children grew more powerful throughout the years...their spars became more and more wild and intense.
Geleel had sensed his sister's intent to prove she was just as good if not better that him in terms of Ninshu, grow as well, and he aimed to prove she wasn't.
Hagoromo was fearing that his attempt at redemption was taking the same path as Indra and Ashura...
10 Years Later
Hagoromo stood before his son and his daughter as they both stared eachother down in the middle of the field they were all posted in.
There was a sizeable amount of ground in between them...for as their eyes remained locked on eachother's...they both knew this was the final spar before they'd be sent to the Bending world to spread Ninshu to them.
Their father still watched as they glared at eachother...any moment now he was going to single them to begin sparring.
Everything that they trained for...whether it be Geleel's training with Sage Ninshu or Karina's endless work to master her Sharingan...they'd both worked extremely hard just for this day.
Geleel's blue haori fluttered in the wind...as did Karina's purple one.
Both haoris had the Otsutsuki symbol on the back of them...that same symbol was imprinted at the front of their white headbands as well.
The symbol of an Otsutsuki...an honor they were proud to own.
Karina's glare hardened as Geleel deepened his stance...they both knew it was time.
"...Go!" Hagoromo shouted as the two young Otsutsukis immediately rocked forward towards eachother, the dance began.
As they instantly closed the gap between eachother, they both clashed in the middle of the field, forearm against forearm.
They then separated and began throwing punches and kicks rapidly.
Hagoromo hummed as his children seemingly parried eachother's attacks with ease.
Karina then activated her Sharingan as her black eyes morphed into the famous crimson red orbs with the triple tomoes.
Geleel's eyes widened as she instantly began moving even faster...it naturally became harder to block her attacks.
Karina grunted as she landed a swift kick to Geleel's chest as he went back a few yards.
'Damn Karina...already applying pressure.' Geleel mentally stated as Karina drew her Kusanagi swiftly and zoomed at him again, this time even faster.
Geleel drew a kunai as he used it to try and block her attacks.
Karina grew annoyed as her brother continued blocking her attacks and evading attacks instead of fighting back.
"Stop dodging! Fight me like a man!" She shouted as she swung the sword at the younger boy's head.
Geleel ducked under the attack as he continued evading despite her irate shouts.
The boy finally goes on the offensive as he lands an unexpected kick into Karina's side as she flew back a few yards.
Geleel smirked as he put his fingers into the famous cross sign that everyone knew so well.
"Multi Shadow Clone jutsu!" Geleel shouted as 300 clones of him appeared on the field with a huge puff of smoke, much to Karina's annoyance.
The clones charged at her as she frowned deeply and began chopping them down one by one...with every clone that she took down a puff of smoke followed as they dissipated.
Hagoromo hummed once more from the sidelines as he watched the spar...he never understood why his children had started giving their Ninshu techniques names, or why they began yelling the names out, but he decided not to question it...if it worked it worked.
"Enough!" Karina shouted as she leaped into the air and began forming handsigns.
"Fire style: Fireball jutsu!" She shouted as she blew a large ball of fire out of her mouth, disintegrating all of Geleel's clones immediately.
Karina then lunged at the real Geleel as she swiftly punched him in the chest and began swinging her blade at him again.
"Stop holding back! Where's all that Juubi Jinchuriki power! Coward!" She shouted as Geleel grit his teeth and evaded her attacks.
'Use my power, boy.' Geleel knew that voice was coming from the Juubi as he frowned at the sound of it.
'No! I don't need you to beat her!' Geleel mentally shouted back at the wolf.
"Ack!" He exclaimed as Karina kicked him in the chest with so much force it sent him onto one knee.
"Done holding back yet?" Karina questioned as she glared at Geleel's downed state.
"Who said I was holding back...?" Geleel questioned as he swiftly looked up and uppercutted Karina, the force behind the punch sending her flying back with grunts of pain.
Karina quickly stopped herself with the Kusanagi as she looked over at Geleel in shock.
'How the hell did I not sense that attack with my Sharingan?' She questioned as she focused on Geleel, who now stood on his feet...when she saw his eyes she almost cursed in shock and despair.
"I was just buying some time." Geleel said as he smirked...his eyes had morphed from their normal brown into yellow toad eyes, and his eyelids had an orange hue on them now.
Karina knew he must've had a clone somewhere in the forest drawing in sage chakra.
"Sage mode...predictable." Karina said as she wiped the blood from her lips and stood up again.
"Atleast it's actually a challenge now." She said as she shunshinned behind Geleel and they began parrying attacks again.
Sharingan versus Sage mode, Otsutsuki versus Otsutsuki, sister versus brother...the fight had been longer than Hagoromo had anticipated.
The father watched both of his children's bodies as they glistened with sweat.
Geleel panted heavily as his eyes were back to their normal state...he was growing tired.
Karina wasn't too far from him either, she had deactivated her Sharingan as well and put her sword back into the sheath.
Both siblings knew it was time to finish this fight.
"Geleel...let's end this." Karina said as she grabbed her left wrist with her right hand and the left hand was coated in a ball of lightning.
The lightning crackled and streaks of electricity flew around her body wildly as it sounded like a flock of predatory birds were screeching.
This move Hagoromo knew well, he was the one who taught it to his daughter, but she had adopted the name, Chidori:1000 Birds for it.
"Couldn't agree more sis." Geleel said as he formed a singular shadow clone.
Hagoromo watched as the clone began helping Geleel form a ball of chakra and wind in his right hand that the former soon recognized to be his son's patented jutsu, the Rasengan.
Karina and Geleel then yelled out as they ran at eachother, preparing to see who's attack would push one of them to the win.
"No..." Hagoromo trailed off as the two young Otsutsukis charged at eachother, this was a spar to test their powers...a clash between two techniques this powerful would cause severe injury.
Which is why right as the two siblings were about to slam their jutsus against one and other, he shunshinned in between them and grabbed both of their arms.
Both Geleel and Karina grunted as their eyes widened in shock.
Hagoromo then spun both of them into opposition directions as they both flew into the trees around the field.
Geleel's Rasengan caused the trees he collided with to be completely destroyed due to the raw power of the attack.
Karina's Chidori was able to cut right through a vast majority of the trees as she was only stopped when she fell to the ground.
Hagoromo sighed as he watched at the destruction the two had caused.
Later
"This was to test your strength!" Hagoromo shouted as his children kneeled before him with their heads down.
"My children, you must learn to know when the limit is near, what was to be just a test, became a full blown war! That was too reckless." He continued as they both tched.
"That being said...you passed." Hagoromo finished as they both raised their heads with shocked expression.
"Wait really?" Geleel questioned his father.
"Yes, despite your efforts to cause bodily harm to eachother, you two have proven to be very formidable and levelheaded fighters, tomorrow...you will be going to the Bending world...hajime!" Hagoromo shouted as he left the field.
"Wow, I don't believe it...we're actually going to fulfill our purpose tomorrow." Geleel began as they stood up.
"Tch! You already fulfilled yours in being a complete idiot, why did dad even stop us, I was obviously about to kick your ass." Karina said with a scowl as Geleel grit his teeth.
"What is your issue? You always take things so serious, you know I'm still your brother, right? This was just a spar, yet you're acting like we were just fighting to the death." Geleel said as he frowned deeply at her.
"Test? You're actually stupid...when will you grow up little brother?" Karina questioned as she walked past Geleel and purposely bumped his shoulder.
The boy turned watched as his sister walked back towards their home, glaring a hole through her back the entire time.
'She's right ya know? You are a total idiot.' The Juubi said with a hearty laugh as Geleel grit his teeth again.
'Shut your mouth...dumb mutt.' Geleel said as he began walking to the house as well.
Geleel didn't even pay attention when the Juubi made another slick comment, he was too focused on Karina.
Ever since they were around 9 and 10 the slightly only girl had grown to be cold to him.
What started as petty coldness, soon became hidden malice...it felt like his own sister would kill him one day if need be, and he hoped it would never have to come down to that, Geleel could never see himself having the resolve to take his own sister's life but...the girl didn't seem to share that sentiment.
The Next Day
Hagoromo had his children in his temple as a giant portal glowed before them.
The portal to the Bending world in all it's glory...even though they seemingly were calm, on the inside the two teens were excited to finally fulfill the purpose they were born for.
"I'm going to save the extra nonsense for someone who cares...my children, once you step through that portal...there is no stepping back, so before you say your ready...look at your stronghands..." Hagoromo began as they both did just that.
In Geleel's right palm was the symbol of the Sun, in Karina's left palm was a half moon.
"Now ask yourselves, is this something you really want to do?" Hagoromo questioned them as they nodded without hesitation.
"Then, I suppose there is nothing else to be said...Karina Otsutsuki...Geleel Otsutsuki...go." Hagoromo began once more as the two young Otsutsukis faced eachother curtly before zooming into the portal.
"Spread the blessings of Ninshu to the Bending world!" Hagoromo finished as his children disappeared through the portal which dissipated soon after.
"I just pray you guys don't turn out like Indra and Ashura..." The Sage said to himself as he looked to the ground, this was probably the last time he'd see his children.
Bending World
Geleel and Karina were plumetting through the sky as the dimensional hop caused them to go at speeds neither of them had experienced before.
'I hope you guys adjust well in the Elemental Nations, for now that world of benders needs you both more than ever.' Their father's voice rang in their heads as they plummeted through the sky.
As this happened the two siblings separated and began falling towards different areas in a Arctic type region.
Geleel landed first...but unfortunately he had plunged into the icy cold water.
He was not conscious due to the dimensional travel as he stalled in the water.
Karina plummeted in some other area of the icey wasteland as she crashed into an ice bank roughly.
She too was unconcious as her impact with the ground caused a smoke cloud.
Both teens were now in the Elemental nations...it was time to fulfill their destinies.
