TWs: Threats, implications of killing/death, gatekeeping/locked out, brief arguing (catfight). Stay safe :)

The sound of the door opening and closing could be heard throughout the apartment before a voice sang, "I'm home!~"

Nine huffed from where he sat at his desk, his fingers tapping away at the computer keys.

Neptune's humming got closer as he peered into the room, laughing once he saw the scene, "You're like a vampire- always in the dark like this. Careful not to hurt your eyes, bro-bro!"

"Mmph." Nine let out a noise, acknowledging the other's concern.

"I'll be in my room if you need anything." Neptune walked away, the sounds of his socks against the hardwood floor growing distant.

The dark-haired adult continued typing up a storm, his pale blue eyes focused on the task ahead.

Ding!

A notification snapped him from his concentration. Nine glanced at the wall clock, noticing it was almost midnight.

'Is it time already...?' He thought as he returned to the screen, clicking on a messages icon. He pulled up the direct messages from the person contacting him, reading the message that was sent.

{ Did you do it?

It seemed vague, but Nine instantly knew what his 'friend' was talking about.

He typed out a response and hit the enter button.

Not yet }

Three bubbles popped up, indicating the person on the other side was typing something.

{ We don't have all year, Nine.

{ Do your job or else I'm cutting you off

Nine furrowed his eyebrows, knowing the term 'cutting you off' doesn't mean he'll just be let go; no, It was something worse than being fired.

Understood, sir. }

Nine closed the tab, clenching his fist before bringing it down and slamming it onto the desk, 'Damn it! If I don't figure out what to do, I'm dead!'

Ding!

Another notification seemed to snap him out of his thoughts. He huffed, 'What is it this time?'

He peered at the computer screen before seeing the red dot on the Y icon. Pulling up the tab, Nine went to his notifications.

His eyebrows perked up as he looked at the latest Yeet from a rising singer who went by the stage name 'Terra.'

'Terra goes on tour...' He read the headline. It was a neon purple background with a neon blue headline, and neon stars decorated the graphic. In the middle of it all was, of course, Terra.

It was all about him, as always.

At the bottom listed who was going to be on tour alongside him.

'Featuring: Cassini-Huygens, Juno, and New Horizons.'

Nine could care less about the other bands. What mattered most, for some reason, was Terra.

And Nine was adamant about finding out why the young singer was a target of some 'big unknown organization,' at least that's what his Boss called it.

Cracking his knuckles, Nine looked on in thought as he stared at the poster. He rested his head in the palm of his hand, tapping his finger on the surface of his desk repeatedly.

He was going to get answers, one way or another.

Hecate rubbed the sleep from his eyes, yawning silently as he got out of bed and made his way to the bathroom, his feet dragging along the carpet.

He switched the light on and took one look in the mirror, immediately noticing that something was off.

'Wha- am I-?' He raised his hands, fingers poking and pinching at his face. He watched as the reflection stared back at him, mouth twitching into a smile, 'I'm fronting...?'

Hecate inspected the face in the mirror; skin as pale as a ghost, heterochromatic silver and black eyes, small freckles dotted across the nose, and grey hair with lighter tips.

He fiddled with one of the loose curls. If he was the one taking control, then Luna was in the headspace, which usually meant something was wrong.

Hecate was the Persecutor, the type of alter who was portrayed as 'the Villain' by mainstream media, yet that wasn't the case. Sure, Hecate felt resentment for the people who had wronged him and wanted everyone else to feel how angry he was, but he wasn't a bad person. Hecate wouldn't ruin Luna's reputation by being a bad person.

"Luna!"

Hecate jumped, glancing over at the doorway to the bathroom.

"You've been standing there admiring yourself for a while- are you going to use the bathroom or not?" Earth asked, placing his hands on his hips.

"Sure, yeah, whatever." Hecate closed the door in his brother's face before getting ready for the day, 'Was that too harsh...? Nah!'

Meanwhile, Luna collapsed on the floor of the headspace in a heap. He had been trying to Front, only to be denied access each time.

'Maybe I should stop before this actually hurts me...' He thought. He took a breath before pulling himself up and sitting on the couch, the sound of the headspace deafening to him despite it being quiet, 'Might as well get comfortable...'

He pulled a blanket over him, lying on the sofa and finally relaxing his limbs.

Europa fiddled with the card in her hand, looking it over for the twentieth time. The man who had given it to her was strange, yet she couldn't help but be intrigued by his offer.

'A chance at stardom...?' She thought, 'It sounds too good to be true.'

"What are you looking at?" Ganymede asked upon noticing his partner's unwavering gaze on something in her hand. He peered over her shoulder, "Who is... Nine?"

"Just someone I met at that convenience store." Europa shrugged, "He offered to help us become successful or something, but- I don't know, the guy seemed a bit... off."

"Let me see that." Ganymede took the card, scanning it over. He hummed, "Well, might as well call the guy to see what he meant. Io, can you-"

"O-On it!" Io saluted, already texting their manager that they'd be off for the day.

"Let's see what this Nine person is all about." Ganymede pulled out his phone, dialing the number on the card.

"Are you sure we should be doing this? I mean, this guy is a complete stranger." Callisto pointed out, "He might be a drug dealer for all we know."

"Then... we'll just request he meets us in a public place." Europa spoke, "There's a diner nearby- that should be perfect."

Callisto bit her lip, knitting her eyebrows in thought, "I just don't think this is a good idea."

"Ugh, come on, Callisto! It's not like we're making a deal with the Devil or something!" Europa exasperated.

Callisto huffed, "I know, but-"

"We just want to know what the guy wants with us, is that so hard for you to understand?" Europa tilted her head as her tone of voice shifted, almost as if the shorter was mocking the other.

Callisto clenched her fists as she breathed out a sigh, "Of course not, Europa, but if this goes south, then you guys are to blame."

"Whatever." Europa scoffed, rolling her eyes. Despite her annoyed display, she couldn't stop her heart from beating out of her chest at the thought of what could happen.

She wouldn't let it get to her, though.
