Stepping off the plane and the humid Miami heat of July hit Michael so hard he just stood there letting the sun soak into his skin. From Siberia where it was -22 degrees most days or colder. Like an alligator laying out in the sun he just stood there. After a few minutes he started walking and found a cab. He went by the loft expecting it to look the same but it had been fixed to go along with the night club. He remembered one place Fi stayed at and after going there and seeing a family of 3 he went to the place Sam called home before he left. Sure enough the blue Genesis coupe along with the Cadi was in the driveway. He froze there as he looked into the window seeing Fi, Sam, and Charlie playing with Cars, and laughing. He thought about turning around and not bothering them with his baggage from being a spy, they'd already put up with it for 7 years before he left. But things were different, he was out again for good. Retirement, he felt good actually knowing his life would be almost normal again. He looked away from the window and then back again and he couldn't believe what he saw…. Sam and Fi kiss, before he knew it he was at the front knocking on at the door. The door opened, seeing a 7 year old Charlie.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"I'm your uncle…."
"Mikey." Sam cut him off as he came to the door.
"Buddy, why don't you go outside with aunt Fi."
Charlie looked between them, and went farther into the house. Sam watched him before turning toward Michael.
"Sam why are you playing family with my girlfriend and my nephew?"
"Well she isn't your girlfriend anymore. We are a family Mike, Pearce and Strong pulled some strings and helped Fi and I get legal custody of him."
"And the kiss I saw from the window?"
Sam just looked down, and headed inside leaving the door open for him. He followed Sam to the door that went out to the backyard. They stood there watching Fi and Charlie play.
"We both missed you, not knowing where you were after seeing you everyday for seven years. It brought us closer and before either one realized it we both fell hard and there was no going back." Sam smiled, as Fi picked up Charlie.
Michael saw the way Sam looked at the two of them, but it didn't help the anger that was still boiling in his stomach.
"So you two have been playing family with my nephew for a while now?"
Now Sam started getting defensive, looking at the family he put back together without the person that brought them together.
"It's been a little over 4 years since you left us with planning a funeral for Maddie. We got full custody of Charlie 3 months after thanks to your mom's will, and started dating before that. So yeah, it's been a while, Mikey." Sam looked up, about the time a punch connected with his jaw.
Sam hit the wall while his hand reached up, rubbing his jaw.
"Hey!"
Michael looked over to see Jesse coming in the front door. As Jesse came closer he realized who Michael was.
"Nice to see you still give a shit about us." He pushed past Mike and helped Sam up.
"What are you doing here?" Jesse asked, turning to him.
"Nothing, I should go." Mike turned out going out of the door.
Before he got to his car, two voices yelled.
"Michael!"
"Mikey!"
Mike turned, seeing Fi and Sam running toward him.
"Guys I have nothing else to say to you, it seems like you four have it all figured out." Mike got in his car, and started it.
Before he could take off Sam caught up to him, sticking his head inside.
"Mikey stay… please?"
Mike was staring ahead as he said this. Sam didn't budge, after a moment Mike looked down and looked back toward Sam then past toward Fi. Mike sighed as he turned the car off, Sam stepped back as he got out of the car.
"Is my stuff I left at the loft here?"
Sam smiled, and turned walking toward Fi saying,
"We cleaned out the loft and sold it to help pay the fees to adopt Charlie. Everything is in storage, we will go by and grab whatever you need." He stopped by Fi, turning toward Mike.
"And Jesse?"
"We fixed up Maddie's house, he's been living there since it was the closest thing to home to him, and close to here."
Mike nodded, as Fi came up beside him and hugged him. He hugged her close, smiling at Sam. Sam came up hugging both of them. They broke apart quickly as Fi and Sam realized Mike was still upset, and headed back in. Once back inside, Michael looked around for Charlie. Sam saw this,
"I think he's in the back."
"Jesse's with him, go and get to know your nephew Michael." Fi said.
"And what about you two?"
"We will get dinner ready, we will come get you three when it's ready." Sam said.
Michael nodded, going outside hoping time with Charlie would help him calm down. Fi stood at the door, watching him talk to Jesse and then bending down to talk to Charlie. Sam walked up behind Fi, wrapping his arms around her.
"So when are we going to tell him about the engagement, and little Chuck Finley?" He whispered.
Fi sighed.
"I guess tomorrow and quit calling her that."
"I still think he's a boy." Sam smirked, squeezing her close to him. Sam let go of her, stepping back.
"And I think it's a girl."
"Just wondering if we should tell him or wait until he's stopped being angry."
"Giving him all the facts before he makes a decision would be best I think."
"Yeah, sounds like the best option."
Fi turned and grabbed his hand, going to the kitchen. Sam looked out at Mike attempting to play with Charlie, as Fi dragged him to the kitchen. Mike was struggling big time with Charlie. Spec ops training and missions around the world were easy compared with playing with a child you care about but don't know anymore. Jesse was a natural, just like Sam was. Jesse looked at him, knowing he had questions.
"Go ahead and ask." Jesse sat down.
Michael sat beside him, Charlie continued playing.
"How serious are they?"
"Thanks to Maddie's will they have full custody of Charlie. They are engaged, and I overheard them talking and they didn't know I heard this but.. I think Fi's pregnant." Jesse looked at him.
Mike looked down, shifting around until he stood pacing. About that time, Sam came to the door. Charlie looked up, and took off to him Michael watched as Sam bent and picked him up looking at him and Jesse.
"Dinner is ready."
Michael and Jesse followed him in. During dinner, Michael watched Sam's and Fi's interactions. It was clear how much they cared for each other. After dinner, getting Charlie into bed apparently was Sam's job and cue for Jesse leaving. The three former friends sat around the table. Fi looked between them, then at Mike, she was fixing to say something when Michael said,
"You're pregnant, and Sam popped the question and you two are trying to figure out where I fit into all this."
Sam and Fi looked at each other, Sam sighed,
"Always straight to the point Mikey, that's why we love you."
Mike smirked, getting up kissing both of them on the cheek.
"I'm going to bed, I want both of you to figure out for the two of you where I fit into this, if at all." Mike headed to the guest bedroom.
Sam leant back in his chair, looking at Fi, noticing the tears. He leant forward, taking her hand and squeezing it.
"What do you want?"
Fi sighed, wiping her face.
"I don't know, I just want a big family dynamic. You, me, kids and Michael and uncle Jesse, whose social life keeps us entertained, like you used to. I don't know about a physical relationship with Michael. Maybe down the road? If you're interested…"
"I don't keep you entertained any more?" Sam snarled, as he leaned in, pressing a kiss to her neck.
She laughed as he sat back, grabbing both hands squeezing as he looked at her.
"As long as I have you, Mikey, Charlie, and Jesse in my life I'm good to, I wouldn't mind sharing you with Mikey."
Fi leaned her face against his, gently kissing his cheek. Sam kissed her back, and stood holding out his hand.
"How about we sleep on it and come to a conclusion tomorrow morning."
Fi took it, getting up.
"Sounds like a plan."
As they walked to their room, they looked around. Their 3 bedroom/2 bath was everything they wanted,
"Anything we do, If we do add Mikey, if we have another baby after this one we will need a new home." Sam whispered.
"Just what you want, a house full of loved ones." Fi whispered, as they came into their room.
