"We haven't been able to find any close or even far family members. Her father is still missing, so, we wouldn't do this but you can take care of her, you're the closest thing she has to a family. The only other option would be a orphanage, but you know how bad those can be and how far the closest one is around here. So, we feel her staying with you is the best option." A police offer stands right outside the doorway of the Rabbit's house.
"Thank you officer, I can take care of her for the foreseeable future." Vanilla replies. She expected this.
"Good to hear, we will contact you with any possible updates."
The officer leaves and Vanilla shuts the door behind him. She sighs and turns around to Blaze standing there.
"What did they want?" Blaze asks.
"Nothing just saying they can't find any of Marine's family so she'll have to stay with us, you don't mind that, do you?" Vanilla asks.
"Nope, but that still sucks for Marine."
"Agreed."
Blaze sits down at the counter while Vanilla does busy work.
"I hope you don't mind me asking, but why are you still awake?"
"Can't sleep."
"That's what I thought… you should try again. It's not healthy to not sleep."
"…fine." Blaze leaves the kitchen and goes back upstairs and into bed. Cream and Marine are still sharing Cream's bed. Blaze smiles at that, then tries to go to sleep. It takes seemingly forever, but eventually after a few hours, she gets to sleep.
She awakens in her room, it's green. Blaze now knows it's a dream. She tries to go asleep again, but it doesn't work. So she gets up, everyone is gone. Like she expected. She goes outside. Walk down the sidewalk and onto the road. Again, the only other house on the street is Marine's. She walks to it and goes inside. It looks less distorted now. Blaze looks around. Everything is just as she left it. Blaze looks around everywhere, nothing has changed. Eventually she pinched herself while in Marine's house. She wakes up, it's morning.
Sitting up, Blaze looks at her clock. It's a bit late 7:20 instead of the usual 7:00 for the week. She gets up and get dressed, noticing the obvious absence of Marine and Cream. But no green, so this is real life. Blaze pinches herself just in case. Nothing changes except a pang of pain on her face. Blaze gets ready and goes downstairs. Where Marine and Cream are eating food. Blaze sits down to eat.
"Mom left." Cream relays.
"I can tell." Blaze replies gently. "…are you good for school?"
"I'm as ready for school as I can be."
The three continue to eat breakfast. They finish and clean up and get ready. They wait downstairs until it's time to go out. Then they go outside and wait for the bus. Which doesn't take long and picks them up without any questions. Cream and Marine sit together while Blaze sits in the seat across from them alone. The two talk while Blaze looks out the window. She see all that hasn't changed and all that has. Eventually they get to school and part ways. Now, she has to find Amy. Which isn't too hard.
Blaze gets to class alone, only to be shortly followed by Amy. Who looks happy to see her. Blaze is happy to see her too. They sit and chat. Amy shared everything about her weekend before the bell rings and that starts the day. Amy apparently doesn't notice Blaze's lack of energy or doesn't feel the need to ask about it. Blaze thanks Amy in her mind for that. She's so nice and she's doing it again. Who cares? Amy's nice and kind and whatever else disgusting romance stuff Blaze can say. It doesn't matter.
Amy thinks Blaze looks cute when she's sleepy. She doesn't want to pry why the other one is so sleepy, so she lets her be. She falls asleep on Amy in one of their classes which Amy blushes at and Blaze once she wakes up apologizes for, Amy says she doesn't mind. She finds it great. So the two continue their day together. Going to class and class with Amy talking and Blaze listening to anything she has to say. Eventually they make it to lunch. Where the same thing continues. Blaze enjoys Amy's talking because she feel gravitated to it and pays attention to it. So they get lunch and sit down. Only Silver is there, he says a quick hello to the two before going back to his lunch.
Blaze and Amy talk to each other until Cream and Marine show up. The two look better but still Sad. Amy immediately notice this but decides it's better to leave it alone, like Blaze's sleepiness. Silver of course being like usually themself decides that's the exact opposite of what their going to do.
"Why do you two look so sad?" Silver asks bluntly
Marine begins to tear up while Cream gives Silver a death stare.
"What?"
"Silver, just stop talking." Blaze says patting them on the shoulder.
"Are you okay?" Amy says to Marine getting off her seat.
"…no"
"I assume you don't want to talk about it" Amy sheepishly asks.
"Yes"
"Alright, here's some tissues" Amy says, unzipping her bag to grab some tissues and gives them to Marine.
Marine blows her nose while Cream solemnly nods to Amy who smiles at the two and she goes back to her seat. Followed by the two who go to their seats. The five eat in silence with each other and make no sounds besides Marine who continues to cry and blow her nose. Amy looks concerned for her but doesn't know how to help. She looks at Blaze who gives her a look of mild concern but reserves herself to eating her food so Amy does that too. All of them continue this trend of silence until the period ends which then they say their goodbyes and leave for the next period. Amy still concerned while Silver is confused and the other three go on to the middle school.
