Kagome grunted in pain as she was slammed up against the concrete wall, of the hospital's empty parking garage, and a hand gripped tightly on her jaw. She opened her eyes that she had squeezed shut when pain ricocheted up her back from being slammed so hard that she just knew was going to leave a nasty looking bruise, and gasped when she saw the truly bone chilling furious face that belonged to Kio.

"K-Kio," Kagome gasped out in pain as she brought her hands up to try and pry his hand way from her jaw, "please, let go - you're hurting me."

"Good!" Kio growled out as his grip tightened, reveling in the sound of her pained gasp, as he pulled her closer to him only to slammed her back against the wall absolutely loving the sound of her cry. "I gave you a chance to fucking come back to me! You should've taken me up on that offer, but no, instead you got me fired!" He growled as his hand gripped even harder on her jaw. "All I wanted was for you to come with me, leave that half-demon and the fucking brat behind, we could've been really happy together just like we were before we had Hiro - wouldn't you want that?"

Kagome could feel the tears prick at her eyes as she tried to desperately clear her mind of the fear that was quickly making home in both her mind and in her heart so she could remember everything that she had learned while taking her self-defense classes. She remembered a move that the instructor had showed to do if you ever find yourself being choked, and even though she wasn't - she figured that it was still close enough that the move should work. She quickly brought both of her arms straight up on one side of his arm before slamming them down on his arm, she did a single breathless chuckle of victory when she successfully dislodged his hand from her jaw - she couldn't believe that actually worked. She didn't have long to be stunned at her small victory of getting his hand off her when his expression went from furious to murderous, still she held her head up high even though she wanted to crawl in a dark hole and hide in there until the man standing in front of her left.

"I would never, ever get back together with you." Kagome said with disgust dripping from every word as she delivered a kick to Kio's chest, knocking him off his feet, before running towards her car.

She only made in about ten steps when she felt something grab her hair and throw her backwards towards the ground. With a startled cry, she fell down to the concrete ground, hitting her head hard making her see double and hear a ringing in her ears. She saw Kio standing in front of her, and even though her head was pounding and her vision a little blurry, she forced herself to scoot away from him as tears started to fall from her eyes.

"Please," Kagome cried as she continued to try and get away from him, "why are you doing this?" She couldn't see straight; she was incredibly dizzy, and her head pounded so she knew for a fact that there would be no way she'd be able to successfully fight Kio off - but that didn't mean that she wasn't going to try and fight with everything she had in her.

"Because," Kio said before dropping down and covered her body with his own, "you seem to fucking forget your place." He said as he pushed his face into hers.

Kagome was beginning to feel confused; she knew from Kio throwing her on the ground like he did that it gave her a concussion - a slight on but still enough to give her symptoms of one. "M-my place?" She asked as her dizziness got worse.

"Yes, your fucking place." Kio spat. "When I left you, you weren't supposed to turn into some hoe and marry the first fucking guy you laid your whore eyes on!" He yelled as he leaned away from her face before gripping her shirt and ripping it in half exposing her bra clad breast to his view. "You have always and will always belong to me and it's about time that you remember that!" He said as he roughly squeezed her breast with bruising force making her cry out in pain as he pushed her hard against the wall and then pushed his body close to hers as his free hand moved down to unbutton her jeans.

"P-please stop." Kagome said as the tears continued to run down her face, she found enough strength and even through her concussed mind, she remembered some of her self-defense training and brought her knee up hard and fast towards his groin.

Kio grunted in pain as he rolled off her and cupped his abused male member while whimpering in pain.

Kagome rolled over and got unsteadily to her feet, still walking towards her car, trying to get away.

A hand gripped her shoulder tightly before turning her around and slamming her once again on the concrete wall, smacking her head once again hard on the wall, making her vision even blurrier and the ringing in her ears louder.

Kio raised his hand and brought it down, connecting it hard against Kagome's face and leaving an instant bruise on her cheek as well as some blood coming out of her mouth because she bit her cheek. His hand enclosed around her neck and squeezed hard, cutting off all her oxygen.

Kagome spluttered as she brought her hands up to try and claw his hand off her neck, but it only resulted in him squeezing harder.

"If I can't have you, no one can!" Kio growled as his hand got even tighter on her neck.

She was just about to lose consciousness when a ferocious growl rent the parking garage and Kio's hand was gone from around her neck. She slumped to the ground as she gasped and coughed for breath. She looked up and saw several other people there with them; two of them were now crouched in front of her asking her questions that she couldn't hear while there were two people behind them fighting.

"Kagome!" A man that was sitting in front of her called out gaining her attention. "Are you okay?"

"Okay?" Kagome said as she cocked her head to the side as a confused look took over her face.

"Do you know who I am?" The man asked as he looked through a bag and pulled out a little flashlight.

"Um," Kagome said before wincing when a bright light was shined in her eyes, "ngh!" She grunted as she tried to move away from the light.

"I know, I know." The man said as he gently took hold of Kagome's chin and made her look back at him so he could check her eyes. "She has a concussion." He murmured as he put the flashlight away just as a loud shot sounded from behind them.

Right after the shot rang out, the man that was sitting in front of her was pushed out of the way and she was now staring in two worried golden eyes.

"Kagome, baby, are you okay?" The new man asked as he gently cupped her face.

"Okay?" Kagome repeated as she stared back at the man with unfocused eyes. "Okay?"

"Miroku," Inuyasha called out not looking away from Kagome as he shrugged out of his suit jacket, draped it around her shoulders, helped her put her arms through the sleeves and buttoned it up for her to, "does she need to go to the hospital?"

"No," Miroku said with a shake of his head, "she just has a concussion which is why she's confused and repeating words, she might not remember us at this time, but I can treat this at home. I just got a restock of pain meds and other things I might need for her."

Inuyasha nodded as he swooped her up into his arms, however, he wasn't expecting the motion to cause her to throw up all over him.

"Oh, yeah," Miroku muttered, "nausea and vomiting are common with concussions."

"Thanks." Inuyasha said, not sounding very grateful that Miroku had failed to warn him that Kagome might throw up, as he turned and walked towards his car. "Sango, can you drive my car that Kagome drove here back home after you've cleaned this mess up?"

"Yes." Sango said before making a call.

"Miroku, you drive." Inuyasha said as he opened the back door of the car before sliding in with Kagome still curled against him. He looked down at Kagome with concern as he gently tucked a lock of dark raven hair behind her ear as Miroku got in the driver seat, started her car and began driving away.

"Keep her away, ask her questions to see what she remembers or what she doesn't." Miroku instructed as he drove out of the parking garage. "Don't let her fall asleep until I do a more thorough exam on her when we get home."

"What's your name?" Inuyasha asked Kagome as he moved her to sit in the seat next to him so he could better see her face.

"Um, name?" Kagome repeated in a murmur as unfocused eyes looked at Inuyasha. "Name?"

"Yes, what's your name?" Inuyasha asked once again.

"My name?" Kagome said as she looked down to her lap. "Um."

Inuyasha waited impatiently, getting more and more worried the longer she didn't answer.

"Gome." Kagome answered in a broken version of her name.

"That's good enough." Miroku said as he continued to drive home. "Her answers might come in broken or slurred words, but it still shows that she remembers."

"Do you know who I am?" Inuyasha asked Kagome.

"Um," Kagome mumbled as she looked with still unfocused eyes towards Inuyasha, "Sha?"

"Good girl." Inuyasha praised as he ran his fingers through her hair.

"Head hurts." Kagome complained as she squeezed her eyes shut.

Miroku had just pulled into their driveway and turned the car off before stepping out.

Inuyasha gathered Kagome up in his arms before exiting the car and walking inside, he sat Kagome on the couch before crouching in front of her and peering into her eyes. "Are you okay?"

"Head hurts." Kagome complained again. "Too bright." She said as she kept her eyes shut tight.

Miroku walked off down the hall before returning a short time later with some medication in his hand and a bottle of water. "Here, take this - it'll help with your headache."

"Headache, headache." Kagome repeated and with the help from Inuyasha she successfully swallowed the medication.

Once the medication was taken, Miroku knelt down beside Inuyasha to shine a flashlight in her eyes once again. Kagome flinched but otherwise stayed still as Miroku did his examination. "Her pupils are still different sizes, although better than when I first checked them." He muttered out as he put his flashlight away before continuing his examination by running his fingers along her scalp. "She has a nasty bump on the back of her head," he said as he removed his fingers from her hair, "it's not too bad and should be gone within the next few days. Kagome, hold your arms out like this." He said demonstrating that she should open her arms wide as if she were giving someone a hug, she did as she was told. "Good, now bring the tip of your pointer finger and touch the tip of your nose - like this." He said before showing her what he wanted her to do. She did it and just barely missed her nose, Miroku told her to do the same with the opposite hand and was pleased when she was able to touch her nose with that finger. He did several more tests with her, and overall, she did okay - she was able to answer questions, albeit slowly and broken and after repeating part of the question and she was getting irritated. Miroku didn't take offense to her irritation, he knew that it was a side effect from the concussion, and she was getting sleepy and tired of the questions and tests, but she was able to get through the examination and he was confident that she'd be okay to fall asleep.

*X*

Inuyasha held Kagome to him as tight as he was able, they were in their bed now, it had been several hours since Miroku said that she would be fine sleeping and she seemed to be doing fine. Miroku had snuck in multiple times to check on her, not that he minded, he was glad that Miroku and Sango both had been just as worried over her that he was. Sango had gotten home about thirty minutes ago and had popped her head in to see how Kagome was doing, she had come in and sat on the bed to give Inuyasha some company and to ask about Kagome as well - she had just left about ten minutes ago to go start on dinner.

Inuyasha let out a sigh as he looked down at her sleeping face that laid on his chest, he ran his fingers through her hair as he remembered just how scared he was when she had screamed during the call and then not answer him when he called out to her.

"Kagome had to run to the hospital to discuss something important with the doctor, she hasn't returned yet." Inuyasha said as he took his seat at his desk. "I think that since this meeting as everything to do with her, we should wait for her to come back home."

"I'm in no rush." Toga said understandingly.

They talked about nothing really for about thirty minutes before Inuyasha's phone rang.

"It's Kagome." He said when he saw 'Baby Girl' come across the screen. "Hey, baby girl." He said as he answered the phone and placed it on speaker.

"Hey, I have great news!" Kagome started and everyone in the room could hear the excitement leaking out of every word. "Hiro-ah!" They heard her shriek and a thudding sound like she had dropped her phone.

"Kagome!" Inuyasha had yelled into the phone then heard as she grunted in pain, then he heard words that made his blood run cold.

"K-Kio," Inuyasha and the others heard Kagome gasp in pain, "please, let go - you're hurting me."

"Good!". They heard Kio growl out as Kagome gasped then right after she cried out, the sounds of pain she was making tore at Inuyasha's heart, and a dangerous growl leaked past his lips. "I gave you a chance to fucking come back to me! You should've taken me up on that offer, but no, instead you got me fired!" He growled out. "All I wanted was for you to come with me, leave that half-demon and the fucking brat behind, we could've been really happy together just like we were before we had Hiro - wouldn't you want that?"

Not being able to hear any more of what was going on, Inuyasha smashed his phone before standing up and telling Miroku and Sango to get in the car. He then looked over his shoulder and told his dad that he'd call him later and reschedule their meeting.

He'd driven well over the speed limit to get to the hospital as fast as possible, he made a thirty-minute drive into an almost ten-minute drive. He didn't even bother turning off the car, barely even made the time to even put it in park, before he darted out of the car and looked around for his Kagome. His heart dropped and he felt the red-hot flames of truly murderous intent when he saw her bastard of an ex-boyfriend with his hand around her neck.

The last thing he remembered was the thought of 'how dare he lay his filthy fucking hand on her' before he blacked out. The loud sound of his gunshot brought him out of his black-out rage and the first thing he did after he saw the lifeless body of Kio lying on the ground was shove Miroku out of the way to see if Kagome was okay for himself.

It was the first time that he actually got a good look at her; her shirt was ripped, and her jeans were unbuttoned, and raged filled him once again and he wanted to bring the fucker back to life just so he could kill him once again. He forced those thought from his mind as he shrugged out of his suit jacket and helped Kagome put it on, because Kagome needed him more than what he needed to kill an asshat for the second time.

Inuyasha sighed and shook his head from the memory as he hugged the still sleeping Kagome tighter in his arms. He had Miroku hang up heavy duty blankets on the windows to block out any source of sunlight from seeping in, Miroku told him the fastest way to recover from a concussion was to be in complete darkness and to stay away from light, tv, loud noises, or anything else that could strain the eyes or worsen the concussion. His recommendations were to just stay in bed and to not do anything strenuous for about a week.

A low growl escaped out of his throat as he thought about all that Kio had done to her, in the past before they even met and in the present before he had killed him. He then thought of all the shit that her so called mom and stepfather did to her, her fucking mother killed her own father for crying out loud!

Inuyasha looked down at Kagome's face again and smiled. 'And yet, no matter how much shit that you've went through, you still are by far the most selfless, radiant woman that I've ever met.' He was astonished that she was still able to be as kind as she was as well as keep that truly blinding smile on her face, she was a force to be held that's for sure. He was so proud of her, that despite every turn she made someone was always trying to take her out, that she was about to keep that spark in her eyes, how she was able to still see the bright side of things, and also how she was still able to love with everything that she had - it all amazed him and he couldn't be more in love with the woman in his arms than what he was at that moment.

He tightened his hold on her and placed a kiss to her temple as his bedroom door opened and Sango popped her head in before opening the door wider to reveal both her and Miroku, Miroku being the one that held a tray full of food.

"Can we come in?" Sango asked quietly as they both stayed out in the hallway.

"You may." Inuyasha said and watched as both Sango and Miroku saunter into the room.

Miroku placed the tray down on the dresser before walking to the bed. "Can you wake her up so I can perform one more exam on her for the night?"

Inuyasha nodded and gently roused Kagome from her sleep by whispering in her ear.

Kagome blinked her eyes back into wakefulness as she looked up at Inuyasha and smiled.

Inuyasha smiled back as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Miroku wants to do another exam before we eat."

Kagome sighed but sat up and looked over to where Miroku stood as she waited for the questions to start.

"What's your name?" Miroku started with.

"Kaagoomee." Kagome answered in a slurred voice.

"Good." Miroku nodded. "What's your son's name?"

"Hirroo." Kagome said but furrowed her brows in frustration.

"What's wrong?" Miroku asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Caan't taallk wiithouut sllluuurrring."

"That's normal, you have a concussion, the slurring should be better within the next couple days." Miroku said reassuringly as he continued on with his questioning. "You called Inuyasha as you were leaving the hospital, do you remember why?"

"Umm, I callled, I called becaauuussse Dr. Hoojooo saaaid Hiirrrooo coouuuld coommee hooome neext weeek." Kagome said in a heavily slurred voice.

"That's fantastic news!" Inuyasha said behind Kagome. "We need to get a room set up for him."

"I could go do the shopping and setting up if you tell me what he wants his room theme to be." Sango offered.

"Rooom theme?" Kagome questioned as her brows furrowed again as she thought. "Hee saaaid hee waaants uuummm, hee waaants..." She thought as she looked down at the bedsheets in deep concentration, trying to think passed to pounding headache. "ooooh, I meembeeer, heee saaaid hee waaaants a mooonnnssteeer trrruuuck rooom wiiith a viiideeoo gaame ssssyysssteem and loooots oooofff gaaammmesss fooor iiittt."

"Monster truck room with a video game system and lots of games for it, got it." Sango said with a nod. "I'll go shopping tomorrow for the stuff."

"Are you hungry?" Inuyasha asked and received a nod from Kagome stating that she was indeed hungry.

They ate once Miroku and Sango left the room and then went back to sleep.

Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Until next time, bye!
