"If I may add, all detections of radiation have decreased to zero." NAISC butted in on the conversation.
The Ancient One and the man stepped back, confused where the new voice was coming from.
"What?!" Lorelei looked down at her panel.
"There's something strange with your signature, I'd need to test your blood." NAISC said, NAISC's avatar appeared on her holo-panel, "your biological functions are different from your registered record." NAISC brought up a live feed of her heart rate and O2 levels.
There was a drastic difference in heart rate and O2 levels, her heart was faster and stronger, and there was a large spike in her O2 levels
Lorelei fumbled with her gloves, struggling with the large gloves that were typical for an Astronaut suit.
Once she is able to remove her gloves it became easier to unlatch the suit.
She was left in her MISS suit. (Mars International Space Station suit.)
" So, let me get this right," Lorelei pressed her fingers into her furrowed brows, it felt as if her atoms were trying to fly apart, "I was hit with a Coronal Mass Ejection from the fucking Sun and am NOT dying?"
" Correct."
"And said CME transported me here. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe?"
"Correct." NAISC repeated.
Lorelei sighed, scrubbing her face with her hands.
"Marvel… Cinematic Universe?" The Ancient One asked.
Oh boy.
"O-kay, this'll be a long one, I think. So you know all about time and timelines, right?" Lorelei asked.
The Ancient One eyed her suspiciously, but nodded.
"So um, I think I come from another universe."
"The multiverse." The man said with a nod.
"I come from a universe where this universe is from comic books and old movies, so basically I know the future."
"Do you have proof?" The man said.
"I have proof." Lorelei said, pointing at the necklace around the Ancient One's neck.
Focusing on the amulet made her body hurt worse.
"That's the Eye of Agamatto. It's an infinity stone."
Silence fell in the room.
"I know about Steve, about the Avengers, about the future and the Big Enemy who will wipe out half of the universe." Lorelei brightened as a thought came to her head, "do you think you can send me home? Please? My SoulMate is there!"
"I will try." The Ancient One said.
It became quiet once again as the Ancient One focused.
Lorelei shifted in her seat, the pain amping up once again.
The Ancient One hummed.
"Well?" The man asked.
"It's gone."
Cold sluiced in Lorelei's stomach.
"Gone?!" Lorelei exclaimed, jumping up.
"It's gone." She repeated.
"How?! A whole universe can't just disappear!" Lorelei said.
"Do you know of Dormammu?"
"Yeah, I know that asshole, why?"
"He has consumed your universe."
Lorelei faltered as she digested the Ancient One's words.
Seven billion people.
Gone.
Consumed by Dormamu.
"Then how the fuck am I alive?!"
"That I don't know."
Panic and grief made her gasp for breath, her body burning.
The feeling of her atoms being shredded returned, and she clutched her chest.
She gasped as her body wavered, her atoms seemed to be evaporating off her skin in a strange black mirage.
An agonized cry left her mouth as she fell to the ground, her body seemed to disappear as it hit the ground, falling into the shadows of the wood.
"Ms. Dale? Ms. Dale!" The Ancient One called.
The pain was too much, the original burning and aching was practically blinding now!
It felt like her mass was gone, and her atoms were leaving her gravity field-
Wait. Her atoms.
What if- Lorelei concentrated on her body, imagining her atoms coalescing into her form.
It took some time, but she was able to re-form herself, crouching on all fours.
Her breath came in and out in ragged gasps, and embarrassingly, she passed out again.
When Lorelei woke, she was in a bed, with a strange cut of pajamas.
It fit loosely around her hips, and was too tight around her chest.
Then she remembered what the Ancient One said.
Her SoulMate was dead.
She would never get to meet them, to feel complete-
Lorelei found tears freely falling down her face. Her heart twisted and ached in her chest.
"You're awake." The man said, opening the door.
Lorelei hastily wiped her tears away.
"How are you feeling?" The man asked, sympathy plain on his face.
She hated it.
"Numb. Tired. I hurt." Lorelei said, standing.
"That's understandable." The man said.
"Listen, the Ancient One had to leave for a while, but she said you can stay here for as long as you need."
"Oh, thank you. I hadn't… thought that far yet." Lorelei said.
"There will be some attendant's in to help measure you so you can blend in when you're in public."
"Thanks."
The man nodded awkwardly.
Lorelei waited until the man left the room to move.
She did not move to leave, or to take a step forward, instead she fell to her knees and wailed.
Her back arched over her knees as she pressed her face into her legs, and sobbed.
What broke her was the knowledge that she would never know their touch, their presence, their kiss, their smile.
That was when a piece of her died inside, and all she had left was the fragments of her heart that she couldn't put together without them.
Lorelei had heard people say that when you lose your SoulMate you lose yourself.
And in that moment, she knew it was true, even if she had never met them.
Her cries were near animalistic, lost and terrified.
And so terribly alone.
That night when she laid in bed, she wondered how she would make it through tomorrow and cried herself to sleep.
