As the early April sun poured into their bedroom on Saturday morning, Harvey turned to face the redhead that was peacefully asleep next to him. The way the light hit her freckled face revealed every detail that he was sure he could look at forever and still never fully memorize. He traced his fingers gently over her cheeks, down her neck, to the spattering of marks across her chest, sweeping over every tiny dot, as if the pattern was a puzzle that was meant for only him to solve.

Her eyes fluttered opened in response to the touch, and she rolled to lay on her back, turning her head towards the cause of her disturbance.

"I love your freckles," Harvey whispered, his hand trailing down from her chest, resting on her bump that peaked out from under her shirt.

"Good morning to you too," she tried and failed to feign annoyance, but her lips tugged into a smile as she placed her hand on top of his.

At 22 weeks, Donna was starting to show much more dramatically. There was rarely a time where Harvey's hands weren't exploring her new curves.

"Sleep okay?" he asked softly.

"I could sleep for another 8 hours," Donna groaned as she adjusted herself on her pillow.

Harvey pulled her in for a long kiss, before scooting down to place a kiss on her stomach.

There wasn't a day that went by that Donna had to remind herself that she wasn't living in a dream. This life she was living with Harvey and Rosie was so new, but somehow felt like it had started years ago. While she knew when she first met him that there would never be a time where Harvey wouldn't be in her life, she never expected there to be a day where she would be laying in bed with him while he talked softly to their unborn daughter about their big plans for the weekend.

Just as Harvey was running through the menu options at the restaurant they were planning to have dinner at later, Donna felt a flutter on the right side of her stomach. The unfamiliar movement made her gasp, as she moved a hand to the area.

Upon hearing her gasp and seeing the look on her face, Harvey sat up.

"Donna?" his voice full of concern.

Donna was quiet as she moved her hand around her middle, searching for the source of the movement.

"Donna," Harvey's voice more stern when she didn't respond.

"Did you feel that?" she whispered.

Harvey's brows furrowed, as he shook his head, still not entirely sure what was transpiring in front of him.

"Say something to her again," Donna said quietly, as she continued to run her hand over her stomach.

Harvey slowly leaned back down, adjusting himself over her bump.

"Like I was saying," he started, gently sweeping his thumb over her stomach, "I think mommy is going to go for the chicken parm, but we're not going anywhere if you're giving her trouble," he glanced up at Donna, looking for reassurance that she was okay.

"Keep talking," she instructed softly.

Harvey continued, "I'm partial to the spaghetti; and your big sister - you don't want to stand in the way of her and a meatball."

Another flutter crossed her side and Donna grabbed Harvey's hand, pressing it into her stomach.

"Keep your hand there," she instructed.

Harvey did as he was told, his eyes remained locked on Donna's as he awaited further instruction.

"Donna, are you sure everything is ok –"

A light tap pushed up on his hand before he could finish his thought.

Harvey went silent as he realized what he had just experienced. Swallowing hard, his eyes filled with tears as he looked up at Donna's matching teary smile.

"She's really in there," he said, a hint of disbelief in his voice.

Donna nodded as she fought back tears of her own, "She really is."

A familiar look washed over Harvey's face as he sat up; a look Donna identified immediately.

"Harvey –" she started, hoping to quell his guilt before it overtook him.

He shook his head, "I'm sorry, I just – I didn't think it would hit me like this," he trailed off.

Donna sighed as she reached for his hand, "Harvey, it wasn't your fault."

He dropped his head, the guilt doubling over on him. He was still struggling with missing out on so much of Rosie's first part of life, and he hated how much that guilt was resurfacing with Donna's pregnancy. He meant it when he told her he wanted to go through every single step of it with her; but he underestimated how much more guilty it would make him feel to experience these moments with this baby when he missed so much with her.

Donna saw it; the flickers of guilt that would flash in his eyes at the smallest things – folding newborn clothes, buying the things that a new baby would need that they hadn't needed for Rosie. It didn't bother her; she knew how heavy his heart was and how much he blamed himself for his absence in Rosie's life, despite what Heather had claimed in her letter. She just hated to see the weight hold him back from the joys they were supposed to be experiencing together with this baby.

Pulling himself back into the moment, Harvey tried to shake the thoughts from his head as he refocused on what was right in front of him.

Donna. Their baby.

Harvey smiled as he placed his hand back on her bump.

"That was pretty awesome," he said with a smirk.

Donna exhaled, sensing an attempted lightness from Harvey, just as Rosie's morning babbles started to echo through their room.

"I'll go grab her," Harvey placed a kiss on Donna's forehead as he rolled out of bed.

Moments later, he re-emerged with their little girl, her head resting on his chest in what had been her favorite position since their first day together.

That was short-lived, however, when she was faced with Donna sitting up in bed.

"MAMA!" Rosie launched herself towards Donna just as she had done the first morning they met.

Donna beamed as she snatched Rosie into her arms and snuggled her close. "Good morning, baby!"

"No!" Rosie gave Donna a look, "Big girl!"

Donna laughed as she planted a big kiss on her cheek. "Can't you just stay my baby for a little while longer?"

"No!" Rosie shook her head. Pointing to Donna's stomach, she stated matter-of-factly, "Baby!"

She shouldn't be, but Donna was constantly amazed at how smart Rosie was, and how quickly she picked up on things. Ever since they started telling her about the baby, Rosie had slowly been incorporating the word and idea into their daily routine.

"That's right sweetie," Donna said softly, "Your baby sister is in there. She's been doing some flips in mommy's tummy this morning, do you want to see if you can feel her?"

"Baby!" Rosie exclaimed as she gave Donna's stomach a pat.

"Okay," Donna smiled, "Let's see if she wants to say hi to us."

Donna took Rosie's little hand and placed it on the spot where the movement happened earlier.

Moments later, a quick kick pressed up against her tiny hand, causing Rosie to pull back and let out a giggle.

Harvey looked on at the scene with pride. He may not have been there for Rosie's first kicks, but to have her here with them to share this moment was enough to pull him out of his own head.

Donna gave him a knowing look as he watched Rosie poke around her stomach, trying to entice another kick from her sister.

"Thank you," he said softly.

Donna cocked her head to the side and smiled, "Bagels?"

Harvey smiled, her request a silent end to a conversation he knew they didn't need to have.

"Bagels."
