.

A few minutes later , the door bell rang , again Paige operated the door camera , a very sad looking Happy was standing there . Paige again pushed the button to open the personnel door and spoke into the microphone to tell her to come in . She stepped in inside , Paige pushed the button to close and lock the personnel we all door. Happy had the same reaction as Sly when the door locks reengaged . She stood at the door , just looking around the warehouse and regretting more than ever she had walked out on Walter that night .

It was Paige's voice that bought her out of her trance as she called her over to sit by Sly , Ralph having fetched another chair and put it next to Sly . Happy slowly made her way over to the chair , sat down and looked down at her hands which were clasped tightly together on her lap .

Paige stared at her and quietly said . " Good afternoon Happy . "

She managed to mumble back a very quiet . " Good afternoon. "

Paige gave a small smile . " What happened to that feisty Happy we all loved ? Sly as filled us in on all about the breakup of C.P. and how it would appear your husband was the problem , which did not surprise any of us . But it was Walter who wanted to see you , so I will let him tell you what he as on his mind .

Happy slowly raised her head , a couple of tears were running down her cheek .Paige pulled a couple of tissues out of the box she always kept on her desk . Happy took them and with a small attempt of a smile and said . " Thank you . "

Walter had never taken his eyes of Happy since she had walked through the door . He gave a small cough to engage Happy , who turned her head slightly towards the sound .

" Happy ! " Walter said to get her full attention . " When you walked out on me , it was almost as painful as Paige walking out on me . You were the first person who seemed to really understand me , you pulled me out of the rabbit hole , more times than I want to remember , especially once I got involved with Collins . For god's sake you even married me so I would not be deported , without wanting anything in return . Then you decided , or I am sure it was Toby who persuaded everyone to start a company to compete and ruin me , congratulations you almost did . I know I was wrong not to tell Paige the truth and she had the right to be mad at me and walk out . Sly knows what I think of his walkout but he as apologized and we have offered him a job . I now have Paige and Ralph back in my life , so my life is now complete , so I suppose I can forgive you as well .

But there is no way I will ever forgive Toby . He owes me his life , but for some reason even before he found out I was your secret husband he as never stopped trying to make my life hell . So what I am about to do is for you , not Toby , especially now I have found out just how badly he treated Paige even after she left , it would appear he tried to blame her for everything that went wrong at C.P. , never being able to take responsibility for his own actions . After all that I would like to put a proposition to you , before I do however , I need to apologize to both Paige and Ralph as I have not discussed it with them . "

Paige looked at him and smiled " That is alright I trust your judgement .

Ralph also turned to him , " I agree with mom . "

Walter's face broke into a smile as he looked at them both and simply said " Thank you ."

He turned back to Happy . " Before I tell you what I propose , I need to make it very clear . As things stand at the moment , Toby will not be welcome at the warehouse , there is more than sufficient security in place so he will not again be able to sneak in as he did at the bunker . "

Happy looked at him , no real expression on her face , her voice was quiet and she sounded totally destroyed , all she could manage was an . " Ok . "

Walter gave her time to collect her thoughts and settle down , before speaking again . " I would like you to consider doing some work for us , this would be as a private contractor , similar to what Paige did for C.P. "

Happy sat up more in her chair and a small smile came across her face .

Walter carried on speaking . " At the moment we are having to refuse a lot of bids because they include mechanical and electrical work or other work suitable for your skills . If you are interested we would offer you 10% of the total bid if successful and as with Paige and C. P. $100 if we do not win the bid . I don't want an answer now , go home , talk it through with Toby . " Walter's voice suddenly dropped and when he spoke it was full of venom . " If you really have to . " Walter's voice changed again to what it was before as he then carried on speaking . " But as I said earlier he his not welcome here , or any job site and you can also add Paige's condo to the list . "

Happy by now had a smile on her face . " I don't need to think abut it , I would be more than pleased to be working with you again . I need to apologize once more for walking out on you that night , I thought at the time it was the best decision . But after a few days working with Toby without you to put him down , it began to be a nightmare , which is why when we saw you at the Bryson bid I had to talk to you , Paige who everyday was getting more and more ill and depressed . "

Walter gave her a smile . " I am really pleased you did , that is one of the reasons we want to help you now that C.P. is no more . Paige will sort out a contract for you , she can then give you a call and arrange a time to come over and see you again . Before you go I have to emphasize again , Toby is not welcome here ,any of our job sites or Paige's condo .

Walter then looked across at Sly before he carried on . " Happy and this applies to you Sly as well . I cannot stop either of you talking to Toby or anyone else for that matter . However and I will make sure Paige incorporates it into your contracts , neither of you are allowed to talk abut what goes on at S.C.S. , we still do work for Homeland and only Paige , Ralph and myself are authorized by Homeland . When I say everyone that includes Toby no matter how much he tries to find out . If you do talk to anyone about S.C.S work and I find out , it will be instant dismissal , for Sly and your contract will be immediately cancelled . "

Both Sly and Happy simply nodded . Not long after Happy took Sly home , once they left Paige turned to Walter .

" Well you were certainly hard on Toby . Not that I don't blame you . "

Walter pulled her towards him into a hug . " Well after the way he behaved towards me in the later years of Scorpion , then treated you like a skivvy at C.P. then blamed you for everything he was doing wrong himself . I had no choice. Maybe one day I will be able to forgive him , but it certainly will not be soon. "

After Paige made a quick spaghetti Bolognese for their evening meal and everything was put away Walter and Paige cuddled up on the sofa , Ralph again sat on the floor in front of them and opened his tablet . They were just enjoying each others company , Paige and Walter were quietly talking over what had happened during the day at S.C.S. . It had been about thirty minutes when Walter's mobile phone rang , checking the I.D. it showed number withheld .

He opened the phone and said . " Hello. "

" Good evening Walter sorry it is late but today as been a really long day . "

" Good evening Katherine , I have Paige and Ralph with me and my phone is on speaker . "

" That's all right this phone call is for all of you . First let me apologize for not contacting you sooner , but all the information the three of you gathered really stirred up a hornets nest , it as taken us until now to sort everything out and be able to get all our paperwork and prepare all the warrants . However earlier today we raided the head office of Bullpit and all of it's subsidiaries . However it is not just a Homeland case , three other agencies are involved , the FBI as it seems Bullpit have been working across at least four other states . The IRS were also involved once they saw the accounts you had found . "

Paige interrupted Katherine . " But all those were found by Ralph . "

Katherine chuckled down the phone . " I am well aware of that , when I spoke to them I explained that all the work was down to a thirteen year old boy , they could not believe it , I explained what all three of you are capable of . Once they had got over the shock , they began their own investigation into Bullpit and it's subsidiaries . They found that a lot of fake invoices were being passed between Bullpit and it's subsidiaries , this moving money between them to reduce profits on their end of year returns .Immigration services are also involved , as they are sure that Bullpit and it's subsidiaries were probably using a lot of illegal workers , especially on the building sites and lumber yard . It was also arranged that teams of building inspectors would also accompany the teams that would actually be raiding the various building sites that are currently being worked on .

All raids went down simultaneously at 9.00am this morning . We arrested all of Bullpit's directors , at the moment they are all cooling their heels in Homeland cells or FBI cells , as Homeland cells are now full , they have already seen their attorneys and we are to begin interviewing them tomorrow at 9.00am. The IRS have taken away computers and loads of paperwork , to see just how much tax fraud as actually gone on . Immigration services have made over one hundred arrests of illegal workers , all have been sent to one of their holding compounds until they can be interviewed . The building inspectors need to go back tomorrow to finish checking the sites as they have found such a lot of substandard materials , that they need to check all the work that as been carried out and carry out various tests to see if the buildings are safe or if work needs to be carried out to make them safe , or at the worst they could need to be demolished . If possible the cost of all this should come from Bullpit's finances , which I am sure will bankrupt them .

Once they have completed all their tests a decision will need to be made , about all the work they have done over at least the last five years . So you can see three idiots doing a drive by and getting you involved as certainly stirred a hornets nest. As soon as i have more information i will let you know .

All three had listened in total silence as Katherine spoke , Walter and Ralph looked at Paige , who being sensible spoke first .

" Thank you Katherine , we never thought a simple drive by would have caused so much trouble . SCS was pleased to help if you need more help you know were we are . "

Although they could not see it a big smile broke out on Katherine's face . " As a matter of fact the FBI were so impressed they have asked if necessary could they at some time contact you . I know you are not doing the same work as the original Scorpion , but your computer skills are of so much use . "

Paige again answered for the three of them . " They are more than welcome to contact us , but please give me as their contact point . You may be interested to know C.P. is no more , we reemployed Sly today and offered some work to Happy , both have been given strict guide lines to follow about their conduct . "

" I am a little surprised you have taken them back , but I notice no mention of Mr. Harvard . "

Paige gave a small laugh . " Truth is the work we are getting is becoming to much for Walter , even though Ralph helps the best he can , we both want to spend our weekends as a family so we can be more normal . I advertised for a coder with a minimum IQ of 170 , the only person who applied was Sly , Happy had bought him to the interview , so once we had finished his interview , Walter asked him to call Happy in . As for Toby , he is banned from the warehouse and my condo , but that is a story for another time . "

" Once I get more information I will contact you , but for now I will let you get back to your quiet evening . "

All three shouted . " Thank you and goodnight . " Before Walter disconnected the call .

" Wow that was some story , that will fake a few months to sort out , but for now I think we should do exactly what Katherine said and get back to our quiet evening . " Paige told Walter as she cuddled closer to him and settled her head on his shoulder and she thought Contentment Personified .

Next morning after dropping Ralph off at school they arrived just after 9.00am. , once out of the car , Walter removed a fob from his pocket . He punched in a ten code of numbers and letters , another part of the Walter and Ralph's security system . There was a loud clang as the bolts on the personnel door moved back , they both hurried through the door , Paige immediately went over to her desk and picked up another key pad and entered another ten number and letter combination . The lights in the warehouse came on and a string of ten green lights set high up towards the roof , flashed for ten seconds , then went out , this indicated all areas were now safe , the locks on the personnel door had already reengaged .

Paige and Walter had just settled down when the outdoor bell rang . Paige operated the door camera and was surprised to see Ann standing there .

Paige spoke into the microphone on her desk . " Good morning Ann , please come in . " She then pressed the button to release the locks on the personnel door . Paige's face broke into a big smile as she saw Ann pushing a wheelchair containing Steve .

" Walter look who is here . "

Walter looked up and a smile came on his face .

" Good morning Ann and welcome Steve . " Paige said as she came around her desk , bent down kissed Steve on his cheek . " How are you doing ? "

" Well it appears the bullet not only nicked my artery , which without your and Ralph's help before the paramedics turned up I would have died from blood loss , however the bullet had enough force to break my femur , that is what is still causing me some trouble . I was hoping to thank all three of you , but you and Ralph in particular , but I don't see him . "

Paige a big smile on her face . " Well no , that's because he is at school . "

Steve looked a little confused . " School ! How hold is he ? "

Paige answered . " 13 "

Steve's face dropped . " But the way he was talking to me , I did not really understand much of what he was saying , it just felt good to hear a human voice , it helped to keep me awake .

Paige had a big smile on her face as she spoke to him . " Welcome to the world of genius nerds , Walter as an I.Q. of 197 Ralph as one higher . A lot of what they talk about goes straight over my head . "

Ann had stood by Steve while he spoke to Paige , but finally she could wait no longer . " Can I please see your shower room and sauna . " Moving with excitement from foot to foot .

" Follow me and bring Steve he can talk to Walter . "

Paige followed by Ann pushing Steve made their way towards Walter . Ann stopped at Walter's desk , who reached over to shake Steve's hand .

Steve accepted Walters hand and held onto it for a minute . " I have thanked Paige for what she and Ralph did for me , but your immediate realization of the situation , you sent Paige and Ralph to check on me , then went to check everyone else were ok . "

Steve released Walter's hand who began explaining some things to him . " Well it was our training that just kicked in , we were contractors to Homeland and were used to facing obstacles , the man who came to collect us once you were taken away , used to be our handler for Homeland and our friend . He reported it to his boss and a very large investigation as begun . I cannot tell you more as the investigation is still ongoing and we are both bound by the secrets act . "

Steve's face took on a look of surprise . " Wow ! " Was all he could manage .

Over at the shower Paige was proudly showing Ann all the gadgets fitted in the shower , Walter in particular had worked with the builder and plumber . The shower had a large shower head above the floor , this gave a wide heavy spray of water , also fitted were four side showers at different heights and angles all carefully worked out by Walter to give them both the most pleasure . The sauna had a bench on two sides , the other two walls each contained a door to allow access from the warehouse or the shower . In the centre of the floor a small fire pit for the hot coals . Ann was really surprised by the quality and finish of the work .

They eventually made their way back to Walter , who was still talking to Steve . As soon as they reached the two of them Paige reached over and gave him a kiss on the cheek .

" Would you all like a coffee . "

Everyone said yes . Ann and Steve stayed for a further thirty minutes , before once again thanking both Walter and Paige , before they left .

Paige's phone alarm beeped to tell her it was time to collect Ralph . Today Walter made an excuse of being to busy to go with her , not for the first time she gave him a hug and a kiss on the lips before she left .

Paige had not even left the estate before Walter pulled out his phone and punched in a number . Once it was answered and without any preamble Walter said . " Is everything ready for 4.15pm. -Good . " He disconnected the call and immediately texted Ralph , " " All set for 4.15pm."

A couple of minutes later he replied with a simple . "OK. "

Once Paige bought Ralph back to the warehouse from school , he ran to Walter to give him a hug before going upstairs to do his homework .

At 4.00pm . Ralph came back down and went to sit next to Walter , they put their heads together . Paige looked up and saw them together . " What are you two up to ? "

Walter looked up a smile on his face . " Problem with some coding , Ralph is just checking some of my numbers . "

This satisfied Paige so she went back to work .

Just before 4.15pm. , Walter's mobile rang , he answered it and immediately shut it down , it was a signal to him the package had arrived .

Paige looked up again . " That was a quick call . "

" As soon as the call connected they ended the call . "

A few minutes later the door bell rang , Paige operated the door camera and saw a young man , holding up what appeared to be a delivery note . " Can I help you ? " Paige asked .

" Is this SCS , I have a very large package for a miss P Dineen . "

" That is me , can you leave it outside please ? "

Sorry Miss Dineen I need a signature . "

By now Walter and Ralph had moved up to Paige's desk .

Walter smiled at her . " If the package is that large why not open the roller shutter and have him drive his vehicle in and offload the package in here . "

Paige smiled at Walter . " Now that is good thinking . "

She instructed the young man to step back a little so she could raise the roller shutter . She pressed another button on her desk and the roller shutter began to rise . She moved from around her desk and all three stood by the roller shutter , once it was halfway up . Paige looked under the door and saw what the package was .

" Is that my car ? " She asked in a very excited voice .

All Walter did was to nod his head .

Pearliegirl Really pleased you are enjoying this . I have good and bad days with my health at the moment a lot caused by some new medication I have been put on , just take one day at time .I am glad CP failed as well .

LouBe96 SCS work load is increasing so Walter does not want to be a seven day a week worker again , he as found true love with a family that show him not only love and security , but are able to understand all his little quirks . I am sure Happy as been tempted at times to do just that , however she as found her life long partner , people can do very strange things were love is involved . Happy and SCS well now you know . I think Waige will keep very quiet about what happens in the shower and sauna .

Ff I keep having trouble trying to get into some stories , often I read a story on my phone , then go to the computer to review , to be told story cannot be found , I have only just read it . UGH

DaToad Glad you found another bit of humour in this chapter . CP could only succeed if Paige is there and would be allowed to the job she is best at of organising and talking to normal , with out constant interference by Toby in particular but the others as well.
