Chapter 7: Fence Painting
MatiasMD: Thx, and yes she did.
LaViolaViolaRosa: Thx
"Last time on Totally Epic: Life on the Farm, the teams went on a little cattle drive. They had to deal with snakes, stubborn cows, water, and uh cattle droppings. The Haystacks won, and the Tractors lost due to Angie's complaining and whining. That landed her right out of the game, and Courtney and Quinten shared some tender moments. What are contestants in for next? Find out now, on Totally Epic: Life on the Farm." Monica announced to the audience.
The next morning, a bus dropped the Haystacks off back at the farm.
"That was the best night ever." said Courtney.
At the hotel, the teens got spa treatments, relaxed in hot tubs, and ate nice foods.
"You got that right." agreed Spikke, admiring the manicure he got.
"Well it certainly felt good to live like rich people again." Reese mentioned.
"I'm not sure how much more of this "farm lifestyle" I can take." Reese confessed to the camera.
"The only good thing about being on this show is a chance at easy money and getting good footage for my followers. I'm up 200."
"I wonder what we'll be doing today?" thought Quinten.
"Hopefully it won't have anything to do with animals." hoped Sunny.
"We'll see." replied Reese.
As the Haystacks walked back to the farm, the Tractors were going about their business.
"I'm glad we were able to vote off Angie." said Glenn.
"Yeah, at least we won't have to hear her complaining anymore." Zuni added.
"Guys, we should also keep an eye on the Haystacks." Daniel informed.
"Why?" asked Renni.
"There are only nine players left, we'll be merging soon."
Daniel did make a point, they would have to start working with the Haystack members soon. When the Haystacks got back, they saw the Tractors going about their business.
"You know, I think we'll be merging with the Tractors soon." whispered Reese.
"That's true, we're in the single digits now." agreed Spikke.
Then Monica's voice came on over the speakers.
"Time for breakfast everyone."
And with that, everyone went to the mess hall.
As everyone ate breakfast, they talked among themselves. Then Charlotte walked in with Pepper on her shoulder.
"Morning everyone." she greeted.
Pepper squeaked.
"Morning, Charlotte." Sunny greeted.
"How was the hotel last night?" Charlotte wanted to know.
"It was amazing. And relaxing." answered Spikke.
"Lucky. I wish I could be you guys."
"Why can't you?" questioned Reese.
But before Charlotte could answer, Monica and Hailey came in.
"Good morning, everyone. It's time for today's challenge." Monica announced.
"I hope you're all ready to be in the sun; because we'll be doing an old farmhouse chore. As soon as you're finished, meet us out by the barn." Hailey added.
And they left with Charlotte following them.
"An old farmhouse chore?" wondered Zuni.
Renni just shrugged.
Once everyone was finished eating, they went out by the barn. The two hostesses and Charlotte stood there with some cans of paint, some brushes, and some other stuff.
"For today's challenge, you'll be painting fences." Monica said.
"Well this sounds simple enough." whispered Courtney to Quinten.
"Don't get too relaxed." Quinten warned gently.
"Now instead of painting the fence a simple color, you'll have to make the fence look as pretty as possible." Monica explained.
"Haystacks you'll paint this fence here. And Tractors you'll paint that fence over there." Hailey told.
"Whoever has the best looking fence wins. Losers will send someone home. Good luck." Monica finished.
After giving them their brushes and paint, Monica, Hailey, and Charlotte went off.
"Well let's get started." declared Reese.
They all grabbed their supplies, and went their separate ways.
"So any ideas how we can make this fence look like a masterpiece?" asked Daniel.
"Maybe we can paint the fence a bright color, then make a pattern." suggested Zuni.
"That's a nice idea."
"And maybe we can add some extras." mentioned Glenn.
"Well let's get started." Daniel declared.
And with that, they opened the paint cans and got started painting. With the Haystacks they had decided to paint their fence both striped and polka dotted.
"Okay, what color should we start with first?" asked Sunny.
"Can we start with pink?" Courtney wanted to know.
"I want to start with green." Spikke piped up.
"Hey you guys, we can start with both." Reese told them sternly.
Everyone then started to paint their fences.
As time ticked on, the teams continue their painting.
"I have to say, this is much more my pace." Courtney sighed, as she painted the fence.
"You can say that again." agreed Quinten, as he added the stripes.
Reese then glanced over at the Tractors.
"Hmm. I wonder how they're doing?" he whispered.
Sunny then noticed him fiddling with his bracelet.
"Are you okay?" she asked him.
"What? Oh, I'm fine." he replied.
The Tractors did their painting, trying to get the details right.
"This challenge is so ours." Daniel said.
"You got that right." agreed Zuni.
Daniel glanced over at the Haystacks, and wondered how they were doing.
"Keep it up, guys. I'm gonna use the restroom real quick." he informed, and slipped off.
But he wasn't going to the restroom, he was going to spy on the Haystacks.
"I have to get a glance at what the Tractors are doing." he explained to the audience.
"There's no way my team can lose again when we're this close to the merge."
He hid behind a pile of hay, and did his spying. He saw the pattern they were painting on their fence. They were painting their fence with stripes with in different colors.
"Hmm, simple but it may just be enough to beat us." he whispered to himself.
Daniel knew he had to do something, but what? Then he overheard something.
"Spikke, can you get some more cans of paints?" asked Reese.
"No problem." Spikke replied, and went off to get some.
Just then, Daniel got an idea. It was a mean one, but an idea.
The Tractors continued to paint, but wondered what was keeping Daniel.
"I hope he's not sick in there." said Glenn.
"I'll go check on him." volunteered Renni.
And she went off to the porta potties. To her surprise, when she knocked on the doors there was no answer.
"Weird, where'd he go?" she thought.
Then out of the corner of her eye, she saw Daniel and he looked to be following someone.
"Huh?"
Renni started following Daniel and saw he was following Spikke.
"What's Daniel doing following Spikke?" Renni asked the audience.
Spikke managed to get some more paint cans from Charlotte and made his way back to his team. As he was walking back he noticed that his shoe was untied. He put the cans down and started taking care of it.
Daniel then started his plan. He carefully grabbed one of the paint cans and then using a screwdriver to poke holes in the bottom. Little did he know, Renni saw what he was doing, and was shocked.
After doing his deed, he got ready to leave. Renni quickly scurried off, so Daniel wouldn't see her.
Finally, Daniel got back to his team and Renni had gotten there before him.
"There you are, Daniel. Renni said she didn't find you at the portapotties." said Zuni.
"Oh, I just had to use a different one, since the others." he lied.
He helped out with the painting, but Renni kept glancing over at him nervously.
Once Spikke came back with the paint cans the Haystacks were ready to continue painting.
"Here's the paint you guys." Spikke announced holding up the cans.
But instead of looking happy, they had a look of disbelief.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Uh Spikke, the paint." said Courtney.
He looked at the cans, and saw the paint spilling out from the bottom.
"What the?"
"What happened?" Reese wanted to know.
"I-I don't know, I mean there was nothing wrong with the cans when I got them."
"Can we get more paint?" wondered Sunny.
Just then, Monica's voice came on over the speakers.
"5 minutes left, everyone." she announced.
"There's no time for that." Quinted piped up.
Reese sighed exasperated.
"All right, we'll just have to make due with what we have." he told.
And with that, they started using the paint they were able to salvage.
"I can't believe Spikke let that happen to the paint." Reese complained.
"I have no idea what happened to the cans." defended Spikke. "They were fine when I got them."
Then after a while, Monica's voice came on over the speakers again.
"All right people, time's up. Time for the judging."
In a matter of seconds, Monica, Hailey, and Charlotte with Pepper on her shoulder came and looked at the fences. First they saw the Tractors'. Their fence was painted green with yellow stripes in a wavy way, and in each section were purple dots.
"Very pretty." said Charlotte.
Pepper squeaked.
"Love the patterns." Hailey complimented.
"I'm liking what I see. Nice work, Tractors." Monica told them.
"Thank you, Monica." replied Daniel.
And the others also thanked her. Then they went over to the Haystacks' fence. But when they got there, their fence wasn't up to standards. Their fence was painted pink with yellow, purple, green, and blue stripes.
But the fence was only half painted, and some of the paint was thin and wasn't thick enough.
"It is nice, but I see you ran out of time." Monica observed.
"More like we ran low on resources quickly." Sunny.
Spikke looked guilty.
"Well...nice effort."
And with that, they walked off. Then they brought the teams together.
"And so the winners of the fence painting challenge are...the Tractors." Monica told.
The Tractors cheered, while the Haystacks groaned.
"Haystacks, I'll see you at the elimination ceremony."
As everyone headed back, Renni glanced at the Haystacks and then back at Daniel.
"Something wrong, Renni?" asked Zuni.
Renni made sure no one was looking, and then whispered to her.
"There something I need to tell you about Daniel. But not here."
At the elimination ceremony, the Haystacks cast their votes and sat in their seats.
"All right everyone, it's that time again." Monica informed.
Hailey had the carrots ready, while Charlotte handed Monica the clipboard.
"You know what to do when I call your name. Reese, Courtney, Sunny."
They got their carrots, leaving Quinten and Spikke.
"And the final carrot goes...Quinten." "Sorry, Spikke." Quinten told him.
And he got his carrot. Spikke just sighed, said his goodbye, and left.
"And there goes another contestant, who'll leave next? Find out next time on Totally Epic: Life on the Farm." Monica announced to the audience.
14th place: Phil
13th place: Riley
12th place: Kat
11th place: Sydney
10th place: Angie
9th place: Spikke
