Chapter 3: White Coat

The next month since going to Diagon Alley was normal.

Well, normal enough. I would spend my days working myself to the Bone gathering up money. I've begun to take a second Job working in secret. I lied about my age as I look pretty mature already and received a job working at a construction area. I would work from evening till night while also working in the morning. Then on the weekend when I had no job at the hospital I would work construction all day before I went and taught martial arts at night. My friend, Jonathan, manages to find us an abandoned warehouse. After some cleaning up we manage to find some dudes in our school and around the block. I began to teach them BJJ and Judo along with muay thai, the three martial arts that I am especially good at in my past life. Charging a monthly membership of 3 pounds a person I was able to make substantial money from it. Since class started at 8 and ended around 9:30 and happened almost everyday I also have a way to workout.

Money was on my mind and I needed money first and foremost. All the money I have I put into the stock market. I put most of my money on budding medical companies that would be greatly successful in the future. This is just a means to keep my money fighting against inflation, however, what I need is a way to make money. Being a doctor brings you money but it would take me way way too long to reach the position where I can even make close to the amount of income I was having in my past life and I honestly do not think I could longer be a doctor due to the circumstances that I am in.

Thinking of ideas to make money and how to pay the Hogwart tuition and working at the same have taken my mind over the past few months. Beside that I also read over the books and stuff along with Lily. Since I told of my circumstances he was kind enough to allow me to crash at his house whenever I am too busy to go home after studying with Lily or are just needed to make it to the hospital on time. Then since I realised that the work at the hospital paid me too little and it is no longer quite useful for me I asked for a quit, stating that I ran into some circumstances and BS my way out. After that I spent more time working construction and trying a way to make money.

On one of my free days I also make a trip back to Diagon Alley in search of more information. I stayed at the pub, the Leaky Cauldron I remember, and chatted with the wizards there to try and find more information. People were rather talkative as social media didn't exist in this time and therefore there are no "media bots". The trip was proven to be worth it as I brought many interesting books and I also visited many other stores inside the alley that I did not get to visit.

However, one place crossed my mind.

As I made my way through Diagon Alley I suddenly stopped in front of a dark and ominous looking alley that the locals seemed to be avoiding like a plague.

"Remind me of the Chinese occupied Korea." I reminisce before something small, but curious, tugged about at my soul. It slowly grew like a flame before I even had the chance to control it, it took over me. Walking away I went into a nearby clothing store and bought myself a cheap cloak for 15 sickles.

With my cloak put on I make my way into the alley. Following special force training when in enemy territory I make myself as comfortable as possible, make little noise, gather little presence, and walk with a purpose like I know where I was going.

I visited some of the shops and saw many things.

From the sales of slaves, elves, creatures that look like a weaker relative of goblin, to magic creatures to weird body parts (some look strangely like human's) that look like they belong straight from Frankenstein.

I was fascinated.

Now I know why most people are so squirmy about this place, it is certainly not fit for your normal everyday person taste. But for me however…

Looking at the corpses of the different creatures and the different potion ingredients I wanted to drool. Chemistry and biology are the two subjects that never cease to amaze me and now, with new material to possibly work with, I couldn't contain my eagerness.

After about 2-3 hours of touring the place I found a store that piqued my curiosity.

It wasn't a store per say but I am experienced enough to know when a place is conducting "business". Seeing a small sign that hangs loosely and rotting I walked toward it and read.

The lettering was quite small and hard to make out but I can clearly read

"Charles' wand shop,"

Looking at the dark alley inside of this already eerie place my curiosity tugged at my soul like a child throwing a tantrum.

"Curiosity kills the cat…" I whispered to myself but I was already making my way down the alley. The path was dark and sparsely lit, it was also narrow and wonky.

After a while of walking I stumbled upon many cross sections but decided to not go through them…mostly out of gut instinct.

Finally I arrived at a cross section that was sparsely lit and on one of the bricks where there is a torch I can see…

"Is this some kind of code?"

Looking at the x on the wall I looked toward the alley in which it was in front of. Making my way down that alley I met three more of the same symbol before I arrived in front of a wooden door. Opening the door I make my way inside. The inside was…

"oh?"

I whispered as I stepped into it. The store front looks like a reception area of a 5 star hotel. The place was not a wowzer of luxury but everything is very meticulously placed and gives a sense of conservative luxury. I also notice that the inside was abnormally big compare to the outside,

'Must be magic'

I put that thought to the back of my mind and walked toward what seems to be the counter. Tapping the golden on the desk bell thrice I waited patiently for someone to show up. A man then walked out from the room behind the counter, he had long white hair, neatly trimmed beard, and pale white skin. He seems to be dressed in some kind of formal attire and a mask that covers half his face from his eyes to his forehead. The man take one look at me and I can feel his eyes judging me; He then smile and greet in a professional tone,

"Greeting my friend, what can I help you with today?"

"I heard you got wands?" I asked and the man nodded.

"We have all kinds of wands." The man replied. Even though his tone is monotonous it still held a strong implication.

"Even one where the ministry could not trace if you perform magic as an underage wizard?" The man nodded and I inquired further.

"I have a budget of 200 galleons." I started and the man seemed to be I thought. He then smiled,

"That would be enough for a good wand. Please wait." With a tap of his wand a masked woman walked out from the wall from the side of the counter. The man then guided me to sit on the sofa and the woman began working on my measurement.

While she measured me I continued talking to the man, trying to get out more information.

"Besides Wands, do you sell anything else?"

The man smiled at my question and said "We do have one more product…connection." I raise my eyebrow.

"That's a bold statement." I replied. Anyone who has been to these places before knows what this means. To sell connections is to sell pretty much anything. In the Middle East selling connection could make one the king of the world. Both the US and the terrorist would be on their heels for those who sell the right connection.

"…I'll keep that in mind." I said to the man who simply smiled. Just then the woman finished measuring me. She then brought out a suitcase and opened it. In the case were what seems to be woods.

"Please take what belongs to you." The man said and I nodded. Grabbing each piece of wood carefully I judge how my body responds to them. Finally when my hand landed on a piece of reddish hue wood.

"Yew wood." The man stated. And I nodded. Then the women show me another box. Inside where what I presume to be wand core.

"Please choose the core that is yours."

Nodded and began searching through the cores. My hand then landed on the fang and I could feel something deep within my soul. A feeling, the feeling that basically begged me to finally be let out again…blood lust.

"Basilisk fang, good choice."

With that the woman closed the suitcase and walked away.

"Your wand will be ready in 30 minutes." The man said before he walked behind the counter and disappeared. Alone in the room I sat patiently, waiting for my wand.

After 30 exactly the man walked out with a box. When I open up the box and present me the wand.

"13 inches, unyielding, glossy finish, serpentine carving handle. Yew wood, basilisk fang core…a powerful wand. A wand made to kill. To curse, to bring upon destruction and death."

Taking the wand, which was neatly sheathed in a wand holster, I drew it and looked at its glorious appearance. I can feel it stir my soul. Holding the wand feels like holding a sniper rifle once again.

My bloodlust. Something I thought long suppressed rose again. Like a beast finally rising out of hibernation.

"Good wand."

I then made my way out of the shop after paying my due and walked out of the alley.

I then wandered the alley for some time before I made my way out and went back.

Arriving back home I unpacked everything I bought and began practising.

A month, just like that, went by.

_

September 1st.

Arriving at Kings Cross station Lily and I pushed our luggage through the station. Since I have quite a small luggage compared to Lily I naturally combine mine and her trolly and push for us both. As saw us off and walked back to the car in order to get to work Lily and I were alone. Looking around I could not find platform 9 and 3 quarters and Lily was starting to get worried. As our time approached I began to get desperate, no matter who I tried to ask for directions I always got a no or or got a laugh in the face. As I looked around however I then saw a couple of kids my age along with their family walking toward a wall. It was strange but I kept my eyes on them when they finally…

"Walk through the wall," I whispered. Tappin Lily on the shoulder I gestured for her to follow me. Pushing the trolley toward the wall I had doubts that we were going to embarrass ourselves by crashing but it turns out I didn't crash, and we merely walked through it. What greeted us outside of the wall was a red train…

"Hogwart express!"Lily said excitedly and I smiled in return.

After we settled into our seats the train took off. After reading A History of Magic I have known that this world is much like our world, except it is more dangerous to people like me who are new to it. I tried to read everything that I can get my hands on but I find defence against the dark and healing magic extremely interesting. I also happened to pick up a book that was now my top 5: The Human Body and How to Fix it by Friedrich Von Falken. As I rumbled through the ancient looking bookstore I found this book, strangely enough the book was fully German, I however can read and speak German so therefore I was able to read it. I then asked the clerk about it and he said that it is a good medical book to source and learn from as it contains the detailed bedrock of the medical field. He was surprised I can read it as it remains unsold here because no one can read German. Needless to say the book cost me around 10 sickles, a half price deal as it couldn't sell. Taking out The Human Body and How to Fix it by Friedrich Von Falken I began reading from where I left off.

My reading continued uninterrupted before our door was knocked. Opening the door I find a kind looking Lady pushing a trolley in. On the trolley was plenty of strange looking snacks. I personally am more interested in cigarettes but when I saw Lily's eyes lit up at the snack I asked for one of everything. This ended up costing me 21 sickles. Giving them to Lily I watch her eat the chocolate. She likes chocolate.

My eyebrow almost went to my hairline when the chocolate frog started moving.

Over all the next hour was entertaining enough watching Lily eating the strange snack and sometimes regretting the act.

On our fifth hour into the trip we were distributed when someone knocked on our door. Opening the door we were met with some boys. All three of the boys were rather normal looking, one was wearing a pair of round glasses, the other had long hair, the boy to the right of round glasses was average looking enough while the last one was fat.

Upon the door opening the boys rushed in and shut the door. My eyebrow raises and I look at round glasses, who seems to be the leader for the answer. Upon seeing my gaze the boy scratch his head and began to explain himself,

"Well you see, we were trying to prank someone and let's say the prank went a bit overboard and now we are on the run." The boy then explains himself while the others look sheepish. Glasses then extended his hand toward me for a hand shake and I accepted it.

"Haha, anyway, my name is James potter," the boy introduce himself then he turn to his crew and introduced them, " this is Sirius Black," he pointed at long hair, "this is Remus Lupin" he pointed at average looking, "and finally, this is Peter Pettigrew." He then pointed at fat looking, he then spread his arms in a grand gesture and said, " and we are the Marauder!"

"Well this was a grand introduction," I thought to myself before return the introduction,

"Well good day gentleman, my name is Severus Snape, and this is my friend, Lily Evans." Lily then greeted them and we began some pleasantry. As we talked however Lily then spoke in french. Since Lily and I began to hang out often we have spoken in "code" so when we are in crowded places no one can eavesdrop on us and since french is my second favourite language, beside english of course, I decided to teach it to her. And of course, I also teach her the Quebecois French and include with it a strong accent which would confuse people even in France.

"Severus, peut-on avoir plus de collations? J'ai plus de chocolat." nodding I poke my head out of the door to look for the snack lady again but didn't manage to find her. I retreat into the compartment again and tapped on James' shoulder,

"Excuse me, do you happen to know when the snack lady would come?" I asked and he shook his head. I looked back at Lily and said with a smirk, "Eh bien, on dirait que tu vas devoir attendre que la madame des collations revienne." Lily pouted and I shook my head before I went back to reading. After sometimes James then brought up a topic,

"So, where are you planning to go?"

"Hogwart?" I replied sarcastically without even realising it which caused Lily to smirk. James look sheepish and then he stated his question again,

"What I meant is which house are you guys planning to join?"

Putting the book down I cupped my chin. This is not a question that I put much thought into but I suspect that, if everything Henry told us was right, then I would probably be in…

"Either RavenClaw or Slytherin." I answered and Lily also spoke up, "Well I think I would be in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor."

The Marauder however seemed to ignore Lily completely when they heard my words.

"Slytherin? Why would anyone want to be in that house of dark mages and criminals?" oh? James Potter seems to have a strong opinion on this house that is slytherin.

"Care to tell me why you said that? I am kind of new to this you see…" I asked and Potter seems to be disgusted at the very name of Slytherin.

"Oh, you must be new then, but yeah everyone knows that only criminals and misfits are from Slytherin, the house of dark wizards."

"Yes," Pettigrew chimed in, "everyone in that house is said to be very scary, I heard that they have connections to countless dark wizards and witches."

"Interesting," I then asked a question that was in my mind, "so have you had any proof of this or do you just went with the rumours? Because why would a school have a house that solely produced criminals?" I asked and Potter scoffed, he then pointed at Black,

"Well everyone in his house went to Slytherin and they are all nasty people, especially that banshee Bellatrix, and that ice queen Narcissa."

"Hey not just my family," Black charmed in with a chuckle, seemingly not at all offended by the blow at his family,

"The Malfoy too, especially the bastard that Narcissa brought home, Lucas something," while the group discussed among themselves I just sat back and thought. It seems that these houses are not as they seem. Like all things the reality of any entity can differ from their status on paper and it seems that this is also the case.

"So now that you know that you still wanna be in Slytherin?" Potter asked and I merely explained noted him for a while before saying,

"Well I'll let the sorting hat decide which house is best."

With that I get quiet and Lily seems to catch on and she changes the topic. The rest of the ride was quite comfortable. I brought more chocolate and snacks for the kids and then I continued my reading in peace.

My reading was interrupted when a voice rang through the train,

"We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes' time. Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately."

Shutting my books I put it away and back into my luggage. Checking if I have everything I identify everything I need with me: Wands inside wand holsters, check, a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, check, a small bottle of hand sanitizer and finally the pointy hat, check. When the train stopped and we were signalled to get off I told Lily to sit tight when the Marauder pushed past us to join virtually every other student to be pushed out of the train.

"It won't be worth it," I told Lily, "we won't miss anything and we won't wrinkle our uniform."

Lily nodded and decided to stay with me. After the ruffle calmed down me and Lily began making our way off the carriage and arriving onto the deck. When we arrived on the deck the air was cold and I saw Lily begin to shiver. I would've given her a cigarette if I didn't know that it was terrible for her health and that would've killed me. Instead I take out my wands and make a spell that I learned over the past month from a book that I brought, small utility spells for everyday conveniences by Vena Mcgrill. Whispering "Focillo," I cast the warning spell on Lily and I see the Shivering stop.

"Feel better?" I asked with a smile and she nodded back. Then lamp light lit brightly over the students,

"Fir' years! Fir' years over here!" A deep and heavily accented voice rang out following the light,

Looking toward the direction of the voice I saw a huge man. He was gigantic in proportion, maybe as tall as 8 feet and weight probably around 400lbs. He has a bushy beard and long unkempt hair.

"C'mon, Follow me. Mind yer step! Follow me!"

The giant man then took the lead and began walking into the dark forested path. Deciding that he must be the guide I took off and followed him, with Lily shadowing me right behind. As the first year tripped and stumbled through the dark alley we finally made out and arrived at a dock. A fleet of small boat wait for us there and the big man spoke up again,

"No more'n four to the boat!" Walking to one of the boats I stepped into it first before I took Lily's hand and helped her in. Then another two stepped into the boat and sat opposite of us. Smiling Lily greeted them,

"Hello, my name is Lily Evans. What is yours?" the girl and boy sitting on the other side seemed to open up when Lily broke the ice

"Hello, Lily, my name is Veronica Blackwood." the girl introduced herself. The boy then also introduced himself, "Excuse me, my name is Hadran Longhall."

I was going to ignore them when Lily elbowed me.

"... My name is Severus Snape." I extended my hand and both of them shook it. With a tight smile I went back to looking at the castle in front of us, the structure was magnificent and kinda gave me some nostalgia that I couldn't get my hands on. Suddenly I saw something flying across the moon. Looking up I saw something that I had never seen before. The creatures that belong to the flock that is currently flying across the moon reassembled…

"Pegasus?" I was confused. Tapping Lily's shoulder I pointed at the moon and toward those creatures. When she told me that there is nothing there while looking straight at those creatures I got confused. I can see them clearly, why can't she? When the boat docked on the shore we were led up onto the castle. Standing at the giant wooden gate. The man then raised his gigantic fist and knocked upon the door three times. After knocking the door open, I saw McGonagall. Mcgonagall had a stern expression on her face as she looked down at the first years.

"The firs' year, Professor McGonagall." The big man said and McGonagall seemed satisfied.

"Thank you, Hagrid." Hagrid then bowed before he walked away, leaving us with McGonagall. McGonagall then swung the door open and led us in. The Entrance hall was gigantic, possibly can fit an entire residential house within it. The architectural style of this place is similar to that of Harvard but gave an even more ancient vibes and feel to it. I can hear hundreds of voices from the doorway to the right but surprisingly enough McGoagall gathered the first year into an empty chamber off to the hall.

Standing rather crowded I peered at McGonagall to see what she had to say.

"Welcome, First year, to Hogwarts. The start-of-term banquet would begin shortly. Before you are seated in the Great Hall and enjoy the feast however, you must be sorted into your houses. The shorting is a very important ceremony because here in Hogwart, your house would act as your family for the rest of your time here at Hogwart. You will go to class with your housemate, live in your house dormitory, and spend your free time in your house's common room." Mcgonagall then pause, scanning the rest of the first year before she resume her speech,

"There are four houses at Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Huffypuff, Raven Claw, and Slytherin. Each house has their own value and custom and history and each house produced outstanding Witches and Wizards. While at Hogwart your triumph as well as your misfits will be reflected upon your house point. At the end of the year each house would compare their point and whichever house has the most points wins the House Cup, a great Honour. I hope each of you would become a credit to whichever house you are sorted into." Shen then pauses and scans the room over again. After she was satisfied she continued

"The sorting ceremony would begin in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarten yourself up before the ceremony." She then scans the room and her eyes pinpoint several students before she says sternly.

"I shall return when we are ready for you, please wait patiently." McGonagall then left the room. As everyone was trying to fix themselves up I was itching for a smoke. I haven't smoked once today and my nerves are tingling like streams of electrical ants racing through them. Taking out my hand sanitizer I poured a little of the liquid on to my hand and began rubbing it, the action seemingly unconscious to me. I then heard Lily voice to my side,

"What are you doing, Severus?"

"Cleaning my hand. I touch the boat." Knowing that I was lying out of my teeth Lily interject,

"You want to smoke." Lily stated and I looked at her then shrugged. "How do you know?" I ask knowing the answer.

"You always smoke, and before you smoke you usually clean your hands with that sanitizer that you got from the hospital. But since you can't smoke here, at least I think, your habit is showing."

"You might even understand me better than I do." I added in jokingly and she slapped my shoulder and huff. "That might kill you, you know?" Lily asked worriedly and I nodded,

"Of course, I read the 64 surgeon report." Lily looked at me worriedly before she sign,

"You are so stubborn…" She then turns around and makes conversation with Veronica, leaving me standing there alone. The feeling didTaking a small pocket size book from my robe pocket I began reading to pass the time. There were some "ghosts" wandering around and making conversation with some students and simply humouring themselves but I chose to just ignore them, they seemed harmless enough.

Then McGonagall came back.

She makes us form a line before taking us to the sorting ceremony.

Walking up the hall I can see other students staring at us. On their chest were patches of four distinct colours: Yellow, Red, Blue and Green. We then lined up in front of the great hall and the sorting ceremony began.

The hat began to sing a song, which I didn't bother to hear and instead focused on the professors. If what I'm guessing is right then the old man sitting in the middle is Albus Dumbledor, the so-called most powerful wizard of the modern era. He looked more ordinary than I thought him to be and I cannot feel anything intimidating about him. Dressed in a pyjama looking outfit Albus Dumbledor looked almost harmless. The other teachers didn't dawn upon me much. They look very normal. Or normal enough compared to the people around them.

Slowly I can see students being called up in order to be sort by the hat. As students stepped up and down with a patch on their robe I waited patiently for my turn. Lily stepped up and Mcgonagall placed the hat onto her head. After a while she was sorted into Gryffindor along with all members of the Marauder, and was sorted into the house before her. The two people we meet on the boat, Veronica and Hadran, were sorted into two different houses, Hadran to RavenClaw and Veronica to Gryffindor; the decision seems fitting enough. Finally, after I heard my name being called I stepped up and sat upon the chair. McGonagall then proceeds to put the hat upon my head and I can hear its voice inside my head.

"What do we have here?...Oh interesting, interesting indeed. I can see that this is your second life…very interesting indeed."

"So you really are in my head…Are you going to tell your master?"

"Hahahaha, I have no master, boy. I simply am an object that serves to sort students to places they need to go. Do not fret, I will keep whatever I learn private, between me and you."

"So, Hat, what do you see?" I asked and I heard a low hum.

"Well you have powerful ambition, a thirst for knowledge, genuine compassion for others, and ambitions, powerful ambition. You have quality for every house here…yet…"

"Yet…?" I inquired and the hat seemed to go a bit silent. After a while I heard from it again.

"Your ambitions are stronger than others…you are very morally ambiguous…and you thirst for control, and power over others as well as yourself…you can only belong in…"

"...Slytherin!" They announce loudly and McGonagall takes it off. The Slytherin table clapped loudly and I can see the Marauder staring at me in disbelief and contempt. Mcgonagall pointed her wand and a patch appeared on my robe, signifying my allegiance to The House of Slytherin. Walking over to the Slytherin table I sat down. My hand played with the pack of cigars in my pocket and my throat felt itchy. I need a smoke and I need one badly.

"Hello," I looked beside me and found a boy greeting me. The boy was as pale as a ghost, but his eyes showed much life in them.

"Good day," I greeted back with a slight smile to show friendliness, after all these people would be living in the same area as me for the rest of the next 7 years.

Extending his hand the boy introduced himself,

"My name is Gavin Reyes, it is a pleasure meeting you." Extending my hand I also shake him. His grip was firm for a child.

"My name is Serverus Snape. It is a pleasure to meet you."

We parted our hands and Gavin started to make small conversation.

It's the usual: where do you come from and the stuff.

I've also learned that Gavin was a half-blood. A child born between a wizard and a muggle. I also learned from Gavin to expect a hard time in Slytherin. When I inquired I learned that "muggles" aren't really welcome in Slytherin. This kick started a deeper conversation where I learned more about the house politics. Since Gavin was a half-blood and lived in the wizard world and had a brother who went to Hogwarts he naturally knew more about Hogwarts house politics than I do.

"I do not know of the specific but apparently the founder of Slytherin, Salazar Slytherin is a blood purest and in his time try to make sure half-blood and muggle born cannot learn magic. Also most of the students in Slytherin come from pure blood families that held a certain hate for people like us." Gavin smiled. Half-bitter half mocking and I couldn't help but smile back in the same manner.

"Then wouldn't it be so bad if we form a pack to protect ourselves?"

I asked and I can see his eyes gleam,

"…is that why you approach me?"

The boy nodded and I couldn't help but praise him for being smart. In a world of dogs the best way to survive is to form a pack.

"What made you choose me?" I asked and he merely shrug,

"Well, you act like a muggle and I choose anyone who seems useful. Are you?"

"Maybe," I answered. Looking around the Slytherin table for a moment I looked back at Gavin,

"So, do you have any plans for recruitment? How do we identify "our" kind?"

Since I'm new to these magical things I need someone who has been in the trenches to help me aquamate, and who better than Gavin right now?

"Well, I know some half-bloods. I've been talking to a lot of people on the train. Pure blood, as I can understand, often exposed themselves by insulting us half-bloods and muggles the moment they heard about us. With the amount of people that I talk to I can confidently say I know at least 7 muggles and half-bloods by first name in Slytherin. And maybe another 5 more unconfirmed."

Gavin said with a smile and I smirk.

"I can tell that I like you already. Very well, I can help us set up organisation, communication and a recruitment system." I stated my offer to the table and I can see his eyes approving the offer,

"Now you speak my language." The boy smiled and raised his hand. Grabbing his hand I shake me and we boy smile,

"Happy doing business with you."

I stated,

"Cheers to our alliance." Gavin confirms.

"Slytherin!"

Galvin looked behind him when he heard the call and waved at a boy.

"Greg,"

I went toward the boy, he was lanky looking, blue eyes and had a tan complexion. The boy smiled back.

"Gavin, you are in Slytherin?" Gavin simply smiled. I padded the seat next to me and the boy nodded and made his way toward the seat. He stop before me and extended his hand,

"Greg Turner,"

"Severus Snape."

Greg then sat to my left and Gavin began to introduce the house politics and invite Greg to our party. As expected Greg agreed. From what I know from Gavin, Greg was smart.

I tested several questions randomly from the textbook and it seems Greg knew them all, he even began to question them and break into them. Already I can see that Greg would be another useful edition.

"Slytherin!"

Gavin looks back and waves another guy over.

This time was a boy named Albert Hughes, a half-blood like himself. Albert agrees to the invitation almost too eagerly and we learn that Albert is a good defence against dark art, in fact he was just as infatuated with the subject as I am or even more. His Father worked in the Auror so he was able to pick up information.

Then I my attention was noticed when I caught from the corner of my eyes Dumbledore standing up,

"Welcome! Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words."

Interest I waited for the statement of the alleged "strongest wizard of the modern era"

"Here they are: Twek! Vihd! addne! vjk!" Needless to say I was speechless. But the whole school seemed to go with it and clapped.

Dumbeldore smiled, pleased. He walked back to his seat and food suddenly appeared on the empty plates, the cups also filled up with drink.

Looking at Greg I shrug before taking my cup and toast with him. I also toasted Gavin and Albert.

Then suddenly a meat pie appeared on my plate. Taking a bit I savoured the taste, it was edible, slightly appetising but nothing much. Reaching over I grabbed a piece of roast and another 3 meat pies.

Small talks between meals was the best way to form friendships. And those small talks are certainly happen between our newly form group,

"What should we call ourselves? Gavin asked,

"White Coat." I say suddenly and Gavin seems surprised,

"Why is that?" Gavin asked and I smiled,

"The name does not stand out too much but still keeps a sense of professionalism. It is simple enough to not seem pretentious but also not too simple that I lack meaning."

"So what's the meaning?" Albert asked and I smiled nostalgically,

"Professionalism. Who wore white coat? Healers, professionals. If they see us as savage, why not prove them wrong? We are willing to get our hands dirty but they'll never see the blood when we walk around."

Gavin and the boys seems to give it some thought before Gavin raise his cup toward me,

"Cheers to White Coat."

The other followed suit and thus the White Coat was formed.

After our bellies were stuffed full of food we were guided to our respective house dorms. Our group, sticking close to each other, made our way through the school. We crossed many flights of stairs and finally arrived at a wall. The student at the front, a Blond man with long hair.

On the wall was a painting of a man. The man has long black hair and piercing grey eyes. The painting was alive. The man in the painting looked at the blond man and grunt slightly before the wall opened up.

We walk into the wall and arrive at our dorm. We walked into a guest room-alike. It was large.

The boy introduced it as the common room and that we were to gather there in our free time. However, certain sections are off limits.

The boy then told us to form into a group of four so that we can be given our own room. Naturally we and the boys stuck together and came up to sign our name. When we came up to receive our room number I could see the blonde man's eyes as he looked at us. Grimacing internally I glanced at Gavin and he caught my eyes.

'He is one of those that hates muggles and half-bloods.'

Walking back we stood there listening to some rhetoric that means nothing before we dispersed for the night. The four of us quickly make our way to our room. We were able to locate our quarters and stepped in. In the room were 2 bunk beds. Each of us chose our own bed and began unpacking. The process was quick and painless as none of us really have anything that is not important.

After we situated ourselves I cleaned my hand with the sanitizer before I pulled out the pack of cigarette.

« Is that cigarette? »

Gavin asked, interested, and I gave him a up-nod,

« want some? »

He up-nod and I threw him a cigarette. I quickly lit mine up before throwing him the lighter.

Seeing us smoking Greg and Albert also asked for some and threw them each a cigarette while Gavin passed on the lighter.

« Y'all smoke before? »

I asked and Gavin shrug,

« Have tried it before » while there other two admit to it being their first time. We each enjoyed our smoke for a couple of seconds. I chucked with the Greg and Albert cough.

« You'll get use to it » Gavin said with a smile.

« So you all see that guy right? The blond dude? » Greg started the conversation and Gavin chimed in.

« Yes, the Malfoy… » there was something in this tone that interested me.

« So who is these « malfoy? » by your tone they don't seem friendly. »

« Not to us half blood or, especially, you muggles. » ah so they are one of those blood-purest Gavin was talking about earlier.

« How powerful are they? They seem quite famous. »

I asked,

'Maybe they are like Clintons? Kennedy? Or maybe even Rockefeller? Or maybe even as powerful as the Rothschild… »

« They are very powerful. » Albert stated. He take a puff of the cigarette and let the smoke out slowly,

« they are like the political royalty of the magical world…Not to mention they are also one of the richest family in all of Britain. »

« How rich? » Greg, a clueless muggle born like me asked.

« They are worth, if I am right, around 40-50 billions galleons officially. »

I cough on the cigarette smoke upon hearing the number. That was ridiculous, a ridiculous amount of money.

Shaking my head I take a deep breath of my cigarette before snuffing the remaining bud.

« Well we better not get on his bad side if we can help it then. » I said and Gavin nodded his head in agreement.

After we done cleaning up the cigarette buds we began talking business,

Gavin, leaning against the wall started,

« Well, as you can see we do not have much right now, the four of us would be able to stick up for each other but that is not the goal. »

He looked around, making sure to looked at each of us in the eyes before continuing,

« You are all Slytherin, you are all men of ambition, we want more than just the ability to protect ourselves, but we wanted power, connections. »

«However, with just the four of us we lack the connection to be taken seriously by the house, plus with us being half-blood and muggle born our situation is not pretty nor desirable. »

Greg let out a grunt in agreement.

« There is a quote, » Gavin continued, « « bird of a feather flock together. » Those unfortunate muggle born and half-bloods, are in the same situation as us. We therefore must make a place where we can project power and feel safe in a world where they hated us. I assume that you all are smart men, so I also assume that you know, the quickest way to power is to have a group of people behind you. So, to seize the power that we wanted, we have to give power to others. And the White Coat is that power. »

This speech marks the official start of our organisation: The White Coat.
