Chapter Thirty-Eight
Staring down at the people that had invaded their village, the villagers spot King and Danielle specifically. They knew what they were before separating everyone. Eda, Willow and Luz were sent to one area, King to another, and Danielle to another.
The ones that handled Eda, Willow and Luz started stripping them down before putting them in traditional attire of their village. More specifically Willow, as they could see that she bore a resemblance to someone in the village. Though another handled Luz, combing out her hair to gather spores leftover from the mushrooms she grew when under the common mold. King was also being groomed in the area he was at.
Danielle, unfortunately, was taken to an area that housed two Titan skulls. Binding Danielle's wrists with some weird rope, the people started hoisting her up so she was hanging by the ends of the Titan's curved horns, right above the second Titan skull with its gaping mouth open wide. Two ethereal dark blue flames appear in the Titan's mouth.
Back with Eda, Luz and Willow, they start to stir. Sitting up, they look at their surroundings. A breeze blows into the hut they were in, lifting the skirts they were wearing.
"Who in the name of Titan touched us?" shouted Eda, holding her skirt down.
"I don't know," said Luz, looking around. "But I don't see Danielle or King around."
"Must have taken them elsewhere," said Willow, before twirling around. "You know, I actually kind of like the clothes. Think they'll let us keep them?"
"Bigger problems Flowers," said Eda, heading towards the entrance and pulling the leaves to the side and seeing some guards.
"They're awake," said Guard #1, staring at Eda, Luz and Willow. "Let the high priestess know."
"Where are we?" asked Luz, looking around.
The village they see before them was quite amazing and beautiful in its own right. Treehouses and huts were seen. Witches and demons alike living peacefully. Nature was in abundance.
"Everything seems so… peaceful," said Luz, looking around.
"Too peaceful," said Eda, walking out of the hut.
"It would seem you are all awake," said the High Priestess, walking forward besides the guards.
"What have you done with my owlets?" asked Eda, glaring at the High Priestess.
"I'd stay your tongue right now," said the High Priestess, glaring back at Eda. "We have no love for that Defiler's empire. The only things that we seek…"
"…" said Willow, gulping as the High Priestess looked her way.
"Is the return of my daughter's child," said the High Priestess, looking at Eda.
"Your daughter's child?" said Eda, confused.
"I can see it in her. Your look so much like Sage," said the High Priestess, walking over to Willow. "It was a sad day when Gilbert brought Sage here. We were able to safe you but not my daughter."
"That means…" said Willow, staring at the High Priestess in shock. "My grandmother!?"
"I am High Priestess Tulsi," said the High Priestess, looking at everyone. "Welcome to our village in the Veil."
High Priestess Tulsi had long dark green wavy hair that stopped at her knee with two braided buns held in place by flowery wreaths. Had dark pink eyes and a light olive complexion. Clothes were a long flowing dark pink skirt with a slit with intricate designs, and a matching sleeveless halter top. Yellow strapped sandals adorned her feet. You can definitely see the relation between her and Willow by some of the resemblance.
"Whoa," said Luz and Willow, amazed.
"Our family has been the leaders of this village since time immemorial," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at everyone.
"Wait," said Willow, looking at her grandmother. "You're not wanting me to be the next leader, are you?"
"We could groom you for such a position," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at her granddaughter. "But your Aunt Mimosa is next in line. She's handling another thing at the moment."
"Aunt Mimosa?" said Willow, before squealing. "I have more relatives."
"I can show you around the village," said High Priestess Tulsi, gesturing everyone to follow. "Come."
"Hold up," said Eda, staring at High Priestess Tulsi. "I want to know where my son and owlet are."
"Are you talking about… my word, you've been blessed to raise the little. He is the last of his kind," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at Eda. "As for the other one, it's being tended to."
"It?" thought Eda, not liking what she was hearing.
"Come along now," said High Priestess Tulsi, before hearing a loud "Weh" from down the path. "My my, so energetic this early."
"Edaaaaaa!" shouted King, running down the path and seeing everyone before jumping into Eda's arms.
"King!" said Eda, Luz and Willow, as King clung to Eda.
"I finally found you," said King, looking at everyone. "I woke up in some strange hut and the people were just… revering me. It was actually kind of creepy. Hey, where's Danielle?"
"I am honored by your presence, young one," said High Priestess Tulsi, bowing to King. "If there is anything you and your guardian need, just let us know and we'll get it for you."
"Stop that," said King, staring at High Priestess. "It's creepy me out."
"If that is what you wish," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at King. "Would you like a tour of our village?"
"If it means we find Danielle, then sure," said King, staring at High Priestess Tulsi. "Lead the way."
"Gladly," said High Priestess Tulsi, gesturing to everyone. "Right this way."
As High Priestess Tulsi was showing them around the village, Danielle was stirring awake. Looking around, Danielle shakes off some of the fuzziness from her cold long enough to see a bunch of witches and demons with spears in hand watching her. Paling a bit, Danielle is horrified to see the position she's in, hanging above a Titan's skull with its gaping mouth open with an ethereal dark blue flame beneath her and another Titan skull behind her with the same ethereal dark blue flame.
"What's going on?" asked Danielle, staring around. "What's the meaning of this?"
"Silence you wench!" shouted Male Witch #1, pointing his spear at Danielle alongside the others.
"Should have gagged her," said Male Demon #1, glaring at Danielle.
"I just want to know what's going on," said Danielle, looking at the witches and demons. "And why you have me like this?"
"I think that is very obvious," said a Female Witch, walking over.
"Priestess Mimosa," said the witches and demons, bowing before the Female Witch.
Priestess Mimosa had long teal wavy hair that stopped above her waist and olive-green eyes and a light olive complexion. Attire was very similar to her mother's but were in shades of yellow.
"Your people are the cause for the end of the Titan race," said Priestess Mimosa, glaring at Danielle. "The Titans you see before you right now would love nothing more than to seal you away so you can never harm our realm again."
"My people? I know nothing about them," said Danielle, staring at Priestess Mimosa. "I…"
"Silence! You have no say in this matter," said Priestess Mimosa, glaring at Danielle. "By high noon, you'll be sealed. The last Titan will be safe from you."
"Eda… Luz… King…" thought Danielle, getting scared. "I can't believe I'm saying this but… Help!"
Back with the tour, High Priestess Tulsi was enjoying getting to know about Willow and would tell stories about Sage whenever she wasn't explaining the areas of the village. Coming upon a field of flowers, everyone spots a dais with a sun/moon dial.
"This is beautiful," said Willow, walking down the path towards the dais.
"These look like sunflowers from back in my realm," said Luz, eyeing the red sunflower. "You can make snacks from its seeds."
"We usually just make it into feed for our livestock," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at Luz. "But that does sound interesting."
"Oh my gosh. You have aloe vera here," said Luz, looking at the red aloe vera.
"Used to tend to bug bites and minor burns," said High Priestess Tulsi, walking over to the sun/moon dial.
"It's used in a lot of things back home," said Luz, looking at High Priestess Tulsi. "I happen to like aloe vera juice."
"You can ingest it?" said High Priestess Tulsi, shocked.
"Well yeah," said Luz, looking at High Priestess Tulsi. "In small doses."
"I haven't seen Danielle anywhere on this tour," said King, looking around. "Where is she?"
"You know, I've had enough of this tour," said Eda, glaring at High Priestess Tulsi. "Take us to where Danielle is… now."
"Very well," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at the sun/moon dial. "We'll grab something to eat on the way."
Walking back, High Priestess Tulsi was able to suggest some nice stalls. The owners gladly offered King their food which still creeped him out. Eating the food as they walked, everyone was trying to see if they spotted Danielle anywhere nearby. High noon was upon them as High Priestess Tulsi took them to a ritual site.
"You know, I have a grandson about your age," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at Luz. "Would you consider possibly being a marriage candidate to him?"
"I already have a girlfriend," said Luz, looking at High Priestess Tulsi.
"Oh, I see," said High Priestess Tulsi, before coming upon the ritual site. "I believe we found your friend."
"What the?" said Eda, King, Luz and Willow, seeing Danielle hanging by the ends of a Titan's horns. "Danielle!"
"Eda! Luz! King!" shouted Danielle, seeing everyone. "Willow?"
"What are you doing?" asked Eda, glaring at High Priestess Tulsi. "Let her go now!"
"Unfortunately, we cannot," said High Priestess Tulsi, staring at everyone. "She will be punished for her people's mistake."
"Mistake?" said Eda, King, Luz and Willow, staring at High Priestess Tulsi.
"Grandma, stop," said Willow, looking at her grandma. "Danielle is one of my friends. Let her go."
"I see that it has put doubts and such into your head," said High Priestess Tulsi, before staring towards her daughter. "Mimosa."
"We stand before you today presenting to everyone, one that has come back to end the last living Titan," said Priestess Mimosa, gesturing to everyone at the ritual site than pointing towards Danielle. "Her people eradicated the Titan race, our gods!"
"There's still a living Titan out there," said Eda, shocked as everyone else.
"Its punishment is to be sealed away in the In Between so it can do no more harm to our realm," said Priestess Mimosa, eyeing Danielle. "You'll have at least company, I heard the Grand Huntsman was sealed long ago as well. May your soul rot in the In Between."
The ethereal dark blue flames increase in intensity. Ethereal chains shoot out and wrap around Danielle, making her scream in pain. A black mass starts to form behind Danielle as the chains start to connect to it as her body starts to go shadow. Eda goes harpy mode and tries to slash at the weird rope only to see that she did nothing to it.
"Her binds are made from the fur of the Titan," said Priestess Mimosa, glaring at Eda. "It cannot be severed."
"Then how about this," said Luz, activating a Fire Glyph and sending a ton of Fire Birds to burn the binds. "What the… That's not fair."
"Glyphs from the Boiling Isles Titan," said High Priestess Tulsi, eyeing Luz. "You've barely scratched the surface of what they can do."
"Let Danielle go!" shouted King, glaring at High Priestess Tulsi. "Right now!"
"But, your…" said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at King. "It would seem that it has…"
"Danielle is not an it! She's become like a sister to me alongside Luz," shouted King, his eyes slightly glowing. "And you're trying to take her away!"
Danielle screams louder as a little more than half her body is shadow. Coughing up blood, Danielle slowly loses consciousness. Groaning, Danielle wakes up in an unknown area.
"Oh, my goodness," said Danielle, looking around. "They didn't succeed, did they?"
"Danielle?" said Aster, hearing Danielle and coming around a corner. "Danielle… it is you."
"Aster!" said Danielle, floating over and hugging Aster. "Oh, my goodness, are you okay? Belos hasn't hurt you, has he?"
"I'm fine and no, he hasn't hurt me," replied Aster, looking at Danielle. "But what's going on? It looks like something is trying to seal you here."
"I ended up in a village with Eda, Luz, King and Willow," said Danielle, looking at Aster. "The villagers say I'm from a race that ended the Titan race and…"
"… …" said Aster, gulping. "We… uh… we kinda did."
"What? What do you mean we kind of…" said Danielle, looking at Aster. "Wait… we? As in…"
"Your mom is the same race as me," said Aster, looking at Danielle. "We're celestials, immortal beings."
"Immortal!? Oh, for the love of all things holy!" said Danielle, shocked by the information. "That explains what mom said about us aging differently."
"Wait… does this mean you have your memories back?" asked Aster, looking at Danielle. "You merged with the other you."
"Yeah, I have and I got to talk with mom somewhat," said Danielle, looking at Aster. "Know how I can get out of this predicament."
"Unfortunately, no," said Aster, spotting a half size pink version of his prison forming behind Danielle. "The sealing is pushing your ascension further. You'll end up sealed here… with me. Unless Eda and the others stop it somehow."
"Then I'm gonna have to trust them to get me free. Looks like this is one time I can't help them or do anything," said Danielle, sighing before seeing her so-called prison. "What the he… Why is there a beast ball?"
"Beast ball?" said Aster, confused.
Back at the ritual site, Eda, Luz and Willow tried everything they could to get Danielle free but the binds were too strong. High Priestess Tulsi and Priestess Mimosa end up backing away from King as his fur starts to stand on end. King roars two large sonic waves at the binds, severing them a little bit.
"Alright King!" said Luz and Willow, looking at King.
"Alley-oop," said Eda, flying down and scooping King up.
"Weh!" shouted King, jumping out of Eda's arms towards the binds, further severing them with each "weh".
"I got'cha," said Eda, swooping on up and grabbing King and Danielle.
"Do you know what you've done?" shouted Priestess Mimosa, glaring at Luz and Willow. "The last Titan life will be…"
"Danielle is half human! Half human!" shouted Willow, glaring at her grandma and aunt. "She knows nothing about her mom's side of the family. Nothing! She just started learning about her magic when she got here."
"Wait… that means…" said High Priestess Tulsi, staring towards Danielle.
"That means she can be killed," said Priestess Mimosa, sending sharpened vines towards Danielle. "Die!"
"Weh!" shouted King, getting in one last good sonic wave before feeling exhausted. "Enough! We're leaving!"
"But…" said High Priestess Tulsi, staring at King. "She'll end you."
"She's my big sister and I won't let you take her from me!" shouted King, glaring at High Priestess Tulsi. "You tried to harm my family!"
"Very well," said High Priestess Tulsi, bowing to King. "We won't stop you."
"Mother!" said Priestess Mimosa, staring at her mom.
"Mimosa, enough. This is what he wants," said High Priestess Tulsi, staring at her daughter than the others. "At least, let us send you off with some gifts before you go."
"We are not…" said Eda, glaring at High Priestess Tulsi.
"I'd also like to give you something that belonged to your mother," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at Willow.
"Fine," said Willow, eyeing her grandma. "But we're leaving afterwards."
Gesturing everyone to follow her, High Priestess Tulsi had ordered some of the villagers to procure some food and essentials. Parting the leaves to her hut, High Priestess Tulsi gestured to Willow to follow while everyone else sat in the living room. Parting the leaves to a room, High Priestess Tulsi gestures Willow to sit before procuring what she wanted to give.
"What is it you wanted to give me?" asked Willow, eyeing her grandma.
"This used to be your mother's room before she left," said High Priestess Tulsi, before holding an ornate book. "This is her diary. I'd thought you'd like to know more about how she was like when she was your age."
"Mom," said Willow, fingering the diary.
"At least her palisman found you," said High Priestess Tulsi, petting Clover. "I remember the day so fondly when Sage bonded with an old ancestral palisman in our family."
"I'll take care of her," said Willow, petting Clover. "Still can't believe how big that grove of Palistrom is."
"Only a select few are allowed to have palisman in our village," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking towards the ceiling. "They have to proof their worthy of such a thing. And if they can bond with one that's been dormant for so long. They have to be around your age to even attempt it. Palistrom is sacred, we don't harvest them unless needed."
"Belos consumes them. Luz and Danielle saw it happen," said Willow, petting Clover. "It's probably what's holding back his curse from what I heard."
"That man defiles everything he touches. He tried to come here one time but we chased him off," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking at Willow. "And what's worse, is the fact that consuming the palisman's essence can extend lives. That man has lived longer than one should suppose to."
"Willow," said Luz, knocking lightly on the doorframe. "Everything okay?"
"Yes Luz," replied Willow, standing up. "I'm coming."
"Willow," said High Priestess Tulsi, grabbing Willow's wrist. "Should you ever want to learn more about Sage and the culture of our people, you're welcome to come back."
"Thanks, but no," said Willow, looking away. "I plan on living the rest of my life on the isles with my friends."
"Sadly, that will not be," said High Priestess Tulsi, as Willow glared at her. "Us witches and demons that have been born here or have any blood connections to the Veil even if they were born outside, are pulled back so they can die here. It's in our make up to return and has never been ignored."
"That not fair!" said Willow, staring at her grandma. "Are you saying I'll just up and leave the isles… my friends… or even my family should I have any with someone."
"That is life I'm afraid. That… friend… of yours should know," said High Priestess Tulsi, looking towards Danielle through the leaves. "Life is never fair sometimes. I had to say goodbye to Sage twice now. Once when she left, and once when Gilbert brought her back to give birth to you. She knew she was gonna die cause of the poison in her system, and knew it would end you as well. She had no problem dying as long as we could save you."
"Mom," said Willow, gripping the diary.
"Right then," said High Priestess Tulsi, entering the living room. "I'll see you off."
"No thanks," said Eda, looking at High Priestess Tulsi. "We're good."
"Yeah, didn't we end up here when Danielle sneezed us around the world," said Luz, looking towards Danielle. "How do we get her to sneeze like that again?"
"Mmmm," said Eda and Willow, staring at Danielle.
"Oh, I know," said King, hopping up near Danielle and waving the tip of his tail near her nose. "Tickle tickle tickle."
"Nya-choo," sneezed Danielle, pulling King into a cuddle and wrapping her tail around them. "Nyaa."
"Not that sneeze," said King, before sighing. "Ugh, this may take a while."
"Wait, has she been sick this whole time?" asked High Priestess Tulsi, looking at Danielle.
"Aah! Not the horn, not the horn," said King, as Danielle nibbled on his horn.
"Nyaa," said Danielle, purring away.
