Night was frozen. She stared down at Crimson's still body. Qibli let out a deep breath and walked up and sat right next to Night, the heat from his scales radiating through the air. Kinkajou blinked, looking at Night, expecting a reaction, and then stepping towards the entrance, then jumping back as the Menace stormed in.
"Eek!" Kinkajou cried, watching them stomp past her and stop in front of Crimson's body. Futureseer let out a gasp and stepped back to touch Frozen's wing. Venom pushed in front and collapsed at Crimson's body.
"No. I-I failed her," Venom whispered, turning grey blue and covering her face, tears falling down. Cacti ran to her and his eyes widened when he saw what happened. He placed a wing over Venom's back and pulled her close, but his face drooped. Frozen matched her name and froze while Futureseer whispered to her.
Tidal blinked and lowered her head and wings, mourning. Crocodile stepped forward and picked up the body, nudging the other and flying away. The others followed and Venom gave one look back and met Night's eyes, but didn't say anything.
"Night, your face," Kinkajou pointed out quietly. Night touched her face, feeling scratches and blood on her cheeks. She was so horrified that she didn't even notice.
But everything changed even more when Night spotted a Nightwing standing outside their cave. She was black with a green tinge and had silver scales by her eyes. Qibli spotted her too and looked like he was about to faint. Kinkajou yelped in surprise when she saw her and jumped into her wings. She smiled and turned their head to meet Qibli's eyes.
"Qibli?" She said, happiness, wonder and fear mixed into her voice. Night turned to Qibli, still under his wing, horrified, making the connection. But before Night could speak a word, Qibli brushed Night's wing and stepped forward, looking both overjoyed, terrified and furious at the same time.
He kept his eyes on the Nightwing as he spoke, "Moon?"
