A fun divergent while I work on the next chapter.
Chapter Title - "The Incident, aka, Bullseye!"
Pallet Town
There is movement just outside Red's house. A certain Water-type Gym Leader is seen approaching his front door. Looking around to make sure no one sees her; Misty makes her move.
"Well, here goes nothing!" Misty slides something halfway under Red's door, where it's just out enough where he'll be able to see it. Then Misty reflects on her decision. "Ack!" Shaking her head furiously while blushing, she groans, "What am I doing, this isn't like me..." *Sigh*
It's not too late for her to change her mind, but she doesn't. But not wanting to linger anymore in case she's spotted, Misty books it out of there.
If only life were that easy.
Unbeknownst to Misty, somebody was indeed watching. The figure then approaches where Misty just was. Bending down, the figure sees what Misty had slipped under the door: a letter in an envelope addressed to Red. When opening it, the short letter reads:
Dear Red,
I would like to speak to you.
Please come to Cerulean Cape.
A "..." appears over the reader's head. Looking in the direction that Misty had taken off in, the reader takes a moment to think. Then, the person leaves, just as silently as they approached...
Cerulean Cape
Misty's nervous. And for good reason. She's been waiting for a while, but it's given her some time to think, and what to say. But rehearsing doesn't help calm her nerves. And what better place for nerves than to do a confession in a romantic spot like Cerulean Cape?
That nervousness only grows when the target of her affection draws closer. But Misty, swallowing nervously, waves, greeting her visitor. "Hey Red, over here!" As Red approaches, Misty greets him, thanking him for agreeing to come see her.
There's an awkward silence between the two of them as Misty's mind is racing. A few moments pass where neither one says anything, the two of them staring at the pool of water in front of them. Misty's trying to gain the courage to finally speak up.
Red looks ready to say something, when Misty cuts him off.
"I'm sorry Red, I've got a lot on my mind, and I have to tell you what I'm thinking. Will you listen?"
Red nods.
"Well-" Misty starts on about some thoughts she's had for a while, and some feelings she's been thinking about. While speaking, Misty remains vague, not quite reaching the point of confirming of why Red's there.
And she won't.
Gritting her teeth, Misty snaps, "-And that's why what I'm saying isn't for you!" Taking a swipe, she rips Red's face off!
Well, not really.
"Red" stumbles backwards, caught off guard by Misty's sudden movement. "Grr, how'd you know I wasn't Red?!"
Misty frowns, clutching the scared Ditto in her hand that she had yanked off of the person's face. When Misty eases up on the terrified Pokémon, that allows Ditty to get free and return to its trainer. "Well, GREEN," Misty said, glaring at her rival, "Several reasons stood out, namely that you wouldn't say anything, you weren't acting like Red, and your body isn't shaped at all like Red's! And let's not forget that I can smell your perfume."
Disguise busted like a Mimikyu's.
"Tch, I thought I'd have trouble getting this past you." Green then sighed, shaking her head, "I've been out of the game for too long..."
Misty then had a question, "How'd you get Red's clothes?"
"I found them."
"Okay..." Misty then had another burning question, "How can you breathe with a Pokémon stuck to your face?"
"There's a little room to breathe." She's got an answer for everything.
Oh yeah. Misty then demanded, "Why are you here?!"
That got a counter question from Green, "I could ask you the same thing, what are YOU doing here?"
"I asked first!"
This went on for a minute.
Finally, Green admitted, "I saw you snooping around Red's house, so I was just checking to make sure nothing suspicious was going on."
Narrowing her eyes, Misty asked, "Are you sure about that?"
Green nodded, "Yes, I was following a lead." She then took out the letter Misty had left under Red's door. When Misty saw it, she raised an eyebrow. Confused, Green examined the letter, and noted, "Oops." In her haste to chase after Misty, Green had only managed to rip off the top part of the letter, the part containing Red's name. The other part must have gotten left behind.
Misty then sassed Green, "I'm pretty sure opening mail not meant for you is a crime, isn't that right?"
"What's with the interrogation? Remind me again which one of us is the officer here?!"
Annoyed, both women looked away from each other, scoffing. And before either of them could say anything, a new voice spoke up.
"What are you two doing here?"
The two women were now joined by a third one.
"Y-yellow?!"
Their other rival looked confused, "Were you the ones who wrote me this letter? I thought Red left it for me..." In her hand was the letter, conveniently missing the top part of it with Red's name on it.
Misty groaned, facepalming, "What a day..."
Yellow continues to be confused, as Green sighs and mumbles, "I still can't believe you wrote Red a letter..."
Misty nodded sadly, "Yeah, it's not like me at all to do something so overtly girly like that." Misty then grumbled, "That Erika... I feel like she set me up or something!"
Yellow suddenly blinked, asking, "Wait Erika?" Misty nodded. Yellow looked up and off into the distance as she recalled something, "That's funny, Erika contacted me and told me that there might be something at Red's house for me to check out." While Misty was confused, Green was not.
"I don't believe it!" Yellow and Misty looked at her, surprised by Green's outburst. She hung her head as she explained, "I got a tip from an anonymous caller saying that something was going on at Red's house!" Naturally, she rushed over to find out what was going on.
Misty then growled, "Erika played us all!" Yellow, being the cinnamon roll of the group, is trying to catch up with everything that's been happening, but she too is soon annoyed.
It then dawned on all three simultaneously what had happened, "Oh no! That means-"
Pallet Town
The trio rushed back to Red's house, hoping to find him, and possibly someone else. But no one was there. That now made the three of them nervous, Red and Erika could be anywhere!
Mercifully, they don't have to wait for too long. Soon, a pair of Pokémon trainers can be seen walking by Red's house. Erika's holding onto Red's arm, as the two of them are walking together. Erika's giggling, really enjoying herself.
As soon as the two of them are within earshot, Erika can be heard saying, "Why thank you Red, I enjoyed you taking me on a tour of Pallet Town! Such a small peaceful town. It's so unlike Celadon City. I believe I could be convinced to move here."
Red blinked, smiling innocently, "Oh yeah? What would make you want to do that?"
"Hmm, yes, I wonder..."
The duo are soon standing in front of three ladies who have varying levels of hostility on their faces. Red, being Red, waves and laughs, "Hey everyone! Neat seeing you all here, what's going on?" He then sweatdrops as Misty, Green, and Yellow ignore him to glare at Erika. They have no words for him. For now.
Erika smiles politely, "Yes, good to see you as well. Did you all have fun today?" That all-knowing smirk on her face, as a question mark pops up over Red's head. But before the other ladies can ask to speak to Erika alone, she then excuses herself. "Well Red, I certainly had a great time today. You should come visit me at Celadon City so that I can take you on a tour of that city."
Red's got a sneaking suspicion that he'd better not say anything in front of the other three girls.
Erika though leaves before he can reply, that smirk still on her face. Red tilts his head, confused as she disappears.
Soon after, Green scoffs, heading off in a different direction, while planning her revenge; Misty grumbles something about a now ex-friend as she goes another direction; and Yellow walks away pinching herself, mumbling that she wants to wake up soon from this bad dream.
Pika pops out of his Poké Ball, and sits on Red's shoulder, as the two watch everyone leave. The two then look at each other, before Red finishes with:
"I'm so confused..."
"Oh ho ho, I see what you did there."
Is this canon to this story?
...I sure hope so!
Bye!
