I am so happy to finally be at the U.A era of the fanfic. It's finally time to get into the class shenanigans! This Izuku will interact differently with all the other students since he grew up with a quirk and has more confidence. Aizawa will definitely have his hands full. Like always I hope that you all enjoy the chapter.
Chapter 20: Physical Tests Part 1
The class watches Katsuki as he stares at the ball until it vanishes in the distance. Aizawa looks at a small device that makes a couple beeping sounds. He motions for katsuki to go back to the group of students. The boy smugly walks back to the group with a grin. Izuku saw his expression and subconsciously rolled his eyes. Once Katsuki saw him do that his grin is replaced with a glare.
"What's with the look Deku?! You still think you're better than me?!"
Smoke can be seen coming out of Katsuki's hands as he starts to stomp towards Izuku. The greenette stood his ground while the other students took several steps back. Before the angry blonde could get any closer he is suddenly wrapped in what appears to be bandages and pulled away from Izuku. The boy watches as he is dragged away and suddenly realizes that he had his fist clenched tightly with small sparks of electricity popping off.
"I will not tolerate my students harming one another outside of combat training. Even that will be kept to a minimum."
Everyone's eyes are on Aizawa and see that his eyes are glowing red and his hair is floating. Katsuki notices that he can't use his explosions anymore but continues to struggle against the bandages. Izuku's eyes widen as he now remembers who their homeroom teacher is. He points at the bandges around Katsuki and looks at the man.
"You're the Eraser Hero, Eraser Head aren't you?"
Izuku asks excitedly making some of the other students look at him confused. Katsuki stops struggling and looks at the man skeptically. He tries to use his explosions against the bandages but nothing happens.
"Why can't I use my quirk? What the hell are these bandages made of?!"
He shouts angrily still trying to get out of the bandages. The man pulls on the bandages and Katsuki is let out. He blinks and the red glow goes away with his hair falling back down to his shoulders. Katsuki stands up and looks at his palm. Small explosions begin to pop from his hand and the blonde sighs in relief.
"I erased your quirk for a moment so that you can calm down. I hope that none of you make me use my quirk more than I have to because it gives me dry eye."
Aizawa looks at Izuku with a small creepy grin. The looks makes Izuku think that he's in some kind of danger.
"Not many people know me by my hero name. I'm a little impressed that you know about me despite not really being in the news and such."
Izuku smiles a bit at what the man says. He rubs the back of his head and lets out a small chuckle making Jiro look at him. Ochako notices the look that Jiro gives him and tilts her head slightly.
"Well I've actually read a few articles online that mention your work. There aren't many though, that's why it took me a while to actually know it's you."
Katsuki points at the bandages as they wrap back around the mans neck. The blonde is angry that he was taken down so easily in front of the whole class.
"What is that thing made of? It felt like metal was wrapped around me."
He said through gritted teeth. Aizawa smirks at the question and takes part of the bandage into his hand. The fabric looks soft at first but after a tug it tightens up and looks almost solid.
"My capture weapon is made out of a steel wire alloy woven together with carbon nanofibers. Along with my quirk I can use it to restrain almost any person."
Izuku eyes the capture weapon with interest. He so badly wished that he had one of his notebooks to write down the information. He lets out a sigh and sags his shoulders a bit to the surprise of some of the students. Aizawa raises an eyebrow at the display and waves it off.
"You all are going to do the physical tests again but this time you are going to use your quirks. I expect you all to do your best in these tests."
One of the students perked up at the mention of using their quirks. She has pink skin with dark eyes and orange irises. She also has horns on her head too.
"Oh man, this is gonna be so much fun!"
At hearing those words Aizawa grinned mischievously. The whole class didn't like that look at all and felt a shiver run down their spines.
"Fun you say? Well to make things more interesting then the person who ends up in last place will be expelled from the hero course."
Most of the class gasped at what the teacher said. A short boy with what appeared to be balls on his head started to visibly freak out. Everyone looked at him with what appeared to be sympathy.
"You can't do that! It's not fair!"
"What about the ceremony for the first day of school?"
"When you say try your best you mean go all out right?"
Some of the students were rapidly asking different questions or saying things about the school or tests. Izuku kept quiet because he knew that he wasn't going to get last place. Aizawa glared at the class with his eyes glowing red again signifying the activation of his quirk. The students who were talking immediately went silent.
"The teachers here at U.A are given free reign on how they teach their classes. In my opinion the opening ceremony is a waste of time that can be used to teach you all important lessons. Now we will begin all the tests so be ready to push yourselves."
Aizawa had the students line up in pairs on the track. There is a line drawn at fifty meters to mark the finish line. The first two at the start are Tenya and a girl who has very noticeable frog characteristics. Izuku watches as she gets down on all fours like how a frog does. In the back of his mind he is kicking himself for leaving his notebook in the changing room locker.
"Alright you all will use your quirks to help you complete the fifty meter dash. Anything goes as long as you do the run."
Izuku notices that Tenya's legs have engine like pipes coming out of his legs. The gears in the greenette's head began turning as he analyzed the boy's legs and body. He deduced that his quirk is speed based. Tenya got into a runners stance and the engines began to rev to life. The frog girl headied herself on all fours looking like she's about to hop.
Aizawa held a tablet in his hand as he tapped on the screen. A loud bang is heard that starts the dash. Tenya's engines come to life as he runs down the field with smoke coming out from the back of his legs. The girl makes short hops that are faster than a normal person running. There are two small beeps heard as they both pass the finish line at different times.
"three point zero four seconds. Five point fifty eight seconds."
A robotic voice says as Tenya and the girl pass the line. They both look satisfied wkth their time with Tenya taking a water bottle off his belt and taking a drink. The girl sticks out jer tongue with a please expression as she goes to the end of the line. The next ones up to run are Ochako and a blonde boy with a muscular tail. Before the run starts Ochako touches her uniform and shoes before getting into a running stance while the boy curls up his tail against the ground and leans back against it.
'Did she make her clothes weightless like how she made me float?'
Izuku thought to himself.When the bang went off the boy used his tail to launch himself forward a good distance. Ochako ran normally but did a little better due to no weight holding her back. Izuku is impressed with her way of thinking. The boy made it past the finish line first with Ochako following a couple seconds later. The beep went off when each one of them passed.
"Five point forty nine seconds. Seven point fifteen seconds."
The robotic voice said. The rest of the students took turns in pairs. Izuku is really fascinated about watching how each one of them will use their quirks to complete the test. He is the last in line with another boy who has blonde hair with a black lightening bolt going down his locks. To his annoyance Katsuki made the other blonde switch places with him. Finally it was their turn to run the fifty meters.
"Watch me leave you in the dust nerd."
Katsuki said to Izuku with an angry grin. Izuku just ignored him and walked up to the starting line irritating the explosive boy. While Izuku was watching the other students run he wondered whether to use his fire or lightening to make him faster. He had no doubt that Katsuki will use his explosions to launch himself forward and try to mess him up. Izuku decided he will use his fire bending to launch himself forward and see how far it will carry him.
The sounds of the bang went off and two different explosions happened. Katsuki propelled himself forward with two explosions. Izuku did something that everyone wasn't expecting, not even himself. He swung his arms behind him palms out and fire erupted from his hands pushing him forward. He almost fell face first so on instinct be kicked his legs forward and fire erupted from his feet as well. To everyone that is watching him it looked like he is gliding on fire.
The forced of both the boy's quirks kicked up a cloud of dust covering the track. The sound of coughing from different students can be heard as others complained about getting dirt in their eyes. Aizawa sighed in annoyance and waited for the dust to settle down.
"Four point thirteen seconds."
The robotic voice said. Everyone waited to hear the second time but nothing was said. finally the dust settled down and everyone saw the two boys standing a little past the finish line. They both looked at each other in shock but for different reasons. Katsuki couldn't believe that the nerd he's been stronger than for years kept up with him. Izuku is surprised because he has not been able to move like that until that monent.
Katsuki stomped up to Izuku and pushed his shoulder roughly. Izuku snapped out of his thoughts and quickly took a defensive stance. The blonde didn't like that one bit.
"What the hell was that Deku! Have you been hiding how strong you are!?"
Izuku couldn't help but glare at his old friend. The suppressed annoyance and anger has been building up from years of bullying. Before he retaliated to the blonde a thought came into his head. He remembers the way that Iroh told him how to deal with his emotions. He takes a deep breath similar to how he performs total concentration breathing.
"I haven't hidden anything from you Kach- Katsuki. I also don't need to tell you anything about what I can do either."
This angers the blonde very much. Before he can lash out he remembers how Aizawa erased his quirk and took him down so easily. He grunts at Izuku and gives a scowl that says 'This isn't over' and walks away shoulder bumping the other boy roughly. Everyone who saw that interaction sighed in relief as the situation didn't escalate.
Izuku let out the breath he was holding with smoke coming out of his mouth. Auzawa walked up to Izuku with a bored expression. The man places a hand on the boy's shoulder and Izuku looks up to him.
"I'm guessing that you two have a history, right?"
Izuku looks back at the blonde who is walking to the group and pushes his way to the back. He lets out a sigh as he looks down at his hands and then his feet. His shoes have small burn marks on them due to the fire carrying him. Making a mental list to ask for flame resistant gear he looks back at the man.
"We went to the same middle school. He got a powerful quirk and I was a late bloomer."
Without saying anything else Izuku made his way back to the group of teens. Some of them cheered for him while others were talking about his cool his quirk is. He noticed that a boy with red and white hair is glaring at him from the back of the group.
'What's his deal?'
Izuku thought to himself. The blonde boy with a lightening bolt slapped him on the back and smiled widely at him. He tilts his head at the boy as he talks.
"Hey man, that was super cool how you did that! It was like you were riding the fire down the track. Also what's that other guy's problem? He seems like an angry dog."
Izuku couldn't help but grin at the boy's enthusiasm. Tenya also walked up to him with a confused look. Before he could say anything Izuku put his hands up and cleared his throat.
"If you guys don't mind I really don't want to talk about him and I."
Kyoka and Ochako made their way to the growing group and stood infront of the three boys. Jiro is glaring at The blonde and Ochako is giving a skeptical look at Tenya.
"Hey leave him alone. He doesn't have to explain himself to anyone."
The purple hair girl said to the blonde. Izuku smiles at her for coming to bail him out of an awkward explanation. Ochako stands in front of Tenya without saying a word. Tenya looks at her expression and nods in understanding. The blonde takes a look at Kyoka and smiles like an idiot. He steps in front of Izuku and offers his hand to shake.
"Well hello there cutie. My name is Denki Kaminari, and you are?"
Kyoka Looks at Denki with a face that says 'really dude?' then looks at Izuku. The greenette tries to cover a chuckle and glances at Ochako who is still standing in front of Tenya trying to shoo him away. Kyoka uses her ear phone jacks to push away Denki's hand to his surprise.
"Wow, you try to bud in on someone's business and then hit on his friend. Very classy."
She says sarcastically while walking over to Izuku. Ochako walks to the other side of Izuku and smiles at Denki in a friendly manner. Before Denki can say anything to her, Ochako grabs Izuku's arm and points at Aizawa. Denki has a tick mark at seeing Izuku have two pretty girls around him and happy.
"I think the next part of the physical test is starting!"
Izuku is pretty much dragged away by Kyoka and Ochako while Denki and a short boy with purple balls on his head watch. The short boy looks at Izuku with starts in his eyes and shakes Denki's pant legs.
"Dang that guy has got some game."
Says the purple ball kid. Denki just grunts in response as he follows the rest of the class for the next test. As they walk the boy with red and white hair stares at Izuku with an expression that looks both annoyed and angry. Katsuki is shocked to see Izuku making friends on the first day of school.
Yeah man, we made it to chapter 20! I'll be honest I wasn't a huge fan of the quirk apprehension test part of the MHA anime/Manga. I don't understand how Izuku got last place when he's been training with All Might for about 10 months. Like Denki or Toru's quirk have no physical enhancements. Anyway I hope that you all enjoyed the chapter and like part 2 that'll come out later. Like always please review and tell me what you think.
