It was a cloudy day in Republic City.

Masane was asleep in her bed, with Korra sitting beside her watching over her.

Meanwhile, Tenzin entered his room, where Pema was sleeping with the children.

He sat on the side of the bed and put his hand on his pregnant wife's belly.

Soon after, they woke up.

"Daddy, you're home. We waited up for you. Is Masane okay?" asked Jinora.

"Yes, she's fine, sweetie." said Tenzin before hugging his middle daughter.

"I was scared. I thought she wasn't coming back." said Ikki.

"I'm sorry you were scared, but everything is going to be fine now. I promise." said Tenzin.

Soon after, Masane let out a slight moan as she opened her eyes.

Once she opened them, she sat up and rubbed them to clear her eyes.

Looking around, she saw that she was in her room on Air Temple Island and, looking to the side, she was surprised to see Korra sitting next to her and sleeping as well.

"Korra?" asked Masane.

That was enough for the Avatar to let out a slight groan as she woke up and the first thing she saw was her best friend awake.

"Masane!" exclaimed Korra rushing over to hug the girl, much to her surprise. "Thank goodness you're okay. I was so worried."

It was then that Masane remembered everything that happened, about Tarrlok kidnapping her, her talk with the being inside her, her escape and, above all, her rescue.

Masane smiled before returning the Avatar's embrace.

"It's all right. I'm better now. And it's all thanks to you for saving me." said Masane.

"You're welcome." began Korra breaking away from the hug. "Although Naga had her share too. I wouldn't have found you if it weren't for her."

"In that case, I'll be sure to give her a special award." said Masane with a smile.

"You know? This brings back memories of the first time we met." said Korra with a smile.

"Oh, yeah. That's right. Just like that time, you found me lying in the snow and rescued me. I don't know if it's fate or me." said Masane rubbing the back of her head.

The two girls shared a light chuckle.

"Seriously, I'm glad to hear you're safe." said Korra.

"And I'm glad to be back." Masane began before a slight growl erupted from her stomach, causing the Avatar to chuckle as the girl blushed slightly in embarrassment. "Although… I'd be glad to have something to eat as well."

"Relax." began Korra as she stood up. "I'll go warn the others. They'll be glad to hear you're better. And I'll also make sure there's a nice feast waiting for you."

"Thank you." said Masane before the Avatar left, leaving the girl alone with her thoughts… and something else.

"She really is a good friend."

"The best." thought Masane.

"You know you'll have to tell them about me at some point, right?"

"I know. That's why I'll tell them everything when they ask me about what happened. I just hope they don't look at me funny like I'm crazy." thought Masane.

"Well, I'm an entity that talks to you mentally, so I'd say that a little."

Masane couldn't help but chuckle a little at that.

Later, Team Avatar, Tenzin, Pema and Lin were in the dining room, where Masane was gorging himself on food.

"Dinner is delicious, Pema. I feel better now." said Masane.

"We're so thankful you're home safe." said Pema with a smile.

"And it's thanks to my heroine. I don't know what would have become of me if it weren't for her." said Masane looking at the Avatar.

"Hehe. Stop it. You're going to make me embarrass myself." said Korra slightly blushing, causing the girl to chuckle as Pema got up to pick up the dishes.

"Let me help." Asami said getting up to help the pregnant woman.

"Masane, I realize you've been through a lot, but I need to know everything that happened." said Tenzin.

"Well, as I guess you know, I went to Tarrlok on my own to trade my freedom for the others." said Masane.

"Which is why I am angry with you. How could you do such a thing without consulting me?" asked Korra.

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't bear to see you so broken up about what happened and I wanted to help in some way. Besides, if I had told you, you would have done everything you could to convince me otherwise." said Masane.

"True." said Korra.

"When I told Tarrlok my offer, he suggested another one and that was for me to join his task force and use my powers to take down the Equalists." said Masane.

"What? That's horrible!" said Mako.

"I knew that guy was crazy, but using a power like that like that is going too far." said Lin.

"What happened next?" asked Bolin.

"Of course, I refused and then, Tarrlok attacked me. That's when I transformed again." began Masane to the surprise of the others. "Even though I don't remember anything, I know I fought him, but he defeated me and took me to a hut in the middle of the mountains, where he used a strange power to force me to move into a metal box where he locked me in."

"I guess Tarrlok must have defeated your transformation with bloodbending." said Tenzin understanding how it happened.

"Bloodbending?" asked Masane confused.

"A special technique that only waterbenders can use. It consists of manipulating the body's blood, allowing them to control it as if it were a puppet" said Korra.

"W-What? W-What a terrible power." said Masane.

"I know, Katara told me she had an encounter with one when she was a child and the experience was horrible. It made me swear I would never use a bending technique like that." said Korra.

"What I don't understand is how Tarrlok managed to get that power, knowing that bloodbenders can use it only on full moon nights." said Tenzin.

"I know. It's because he's Yakone's son." said Korra revealing her discovery, leaving the two adults dumbfounded.

"What? How do you know?" asked Tenzin.

"When I was searching for Masane, I decided to take your advice about meditating to find out the reason behind the visions I was having, believing I could find out what happened to Masane. That's how I found out what happened between Aang and Yakone." said Korra.

"Wait a minute. I'm confused. Who is Yakone?" asked Masane.

"A man who was considered one of the biggest crime bosses ever in the city. He always had some trick to escape all the accusations thrown at him, but in the end, my father, as well as the police chief, Toph, and Councilman Sokka managing to catch him and convict him. However, after the trial, he used bloodbending to take them all down and escape. My father managed to recover in time and managed to catch him, taking away his powers in the process. Unfortunately, he escaped from prison and was never heard from again." said Tenzin telling the story of the former bloodbender.

"It all makes sense now. That's how Tarrlok was able to bloodbend us without a full moon." said Lin.

"But how did you escape?" asked Tenzin.

"Well, the thing is, seeing that I might be locked up for a long time, I too decided to take your advice and meditate to try to find out more about the being that dwells within me." said Masane determined to tell the truth.

"Here we go."

"Really? What did you find out?" asked Korra curious about the entity that dwelled inside her best friend.

"For starters, it's an entity that has been around for many years and has been jumping from woman to woman until it came to be in me." said Masane.

"Why only women?" asked Lin.

"I guess because it is and nothing else." said Masane with a shrug.

"And… were you able to find out anything else? Anything about your past?" asked Tenzin.

"No. She told me she couldn't tell me at the moment, but she promised she would tell me in due time." said Masane.

"Are you sure you should trust her?" asked Mako.

"Yes, what if she's cheating on you?" asked Bolin.

"I don't think so. For some reason, I feel I can trust her and if she tells me I should wait, I will." said Masane.

"Anything else we should know?" asked Tenzin.

"Well, yes. It turns out that because we were able to talk, I can now hear her talking in my head and communicate with her." said Masane.

"You know that makes you look crazy, right?" asked Lin.

"Yeah, I figured that from the beginning." said Masane with a nervous smile and a bead of sweat.

"And where is Tarrlok?" asked Tenzin.

"Yes, I would like to punish him personally for doing that to you." said Korra wanting to punch the waterbender councilman.

"I'm afraid that won't be possible, Korra." said Masane.

"What do you mean?" asked Lin.

"When Tarrlok returned, he declared that he would run away with me as a hostage and that's when Amon suddenly appeared and took away his powers." said Masane revealing the waterbender councilman's fate.

That surprised everyone present.

"What?" asked Tenzin surprised by the revelation.

"I thought I couldn't escape, but the being inside me offered to free me. Thanks to her, I was able to escape, although I ended up lost in the middle of nowhere until Korra found me" said Masane.

"One question. That… entity can hear everything we say?" asked Korra.

"Perfectly." said Masane.

"Listen, uh… entity. If you can hear me, I thank you for saving my best friend's life." said Korra with a smile.

"You're welcome."

"She says you're welcome." said Masane with a smile.

"This is very disturbing news. Amon is becoming emboldened. Taking out a councilman, almost capturing Masane… I fear Amon is entering his endgame." said Tenzin, making the Team Avatar members nervous, as that meant something terrible was coming soon.

Soon after, Asami was in the kitchen helping Pema in cleaning cutlery.

"AGH!" groaned Pema in pain.

"Pema, are you all right?" asked Asami with concern.

"The baby is… just kicking, really hard, is all. I'm fine." said Pema.

"Should I get Tenzin?" asked Asami.

"No reason to worry him, it's nothing." said Pema.

At that moment, Mako came into the kitchen with a teapot.

"Can I get some hot water? Korra needs more tea." said Mako.

"You're a firebender. Boil it yourself." said Asami reluctantly, confusing the firebender.

Pema turned her gaze to both teens and immediately understood what was going on.

"I'm… gonna step out in case you two wanna talk." said Pema leaving the kitchen with an 'Ow!' expression.

"Is there something we need to talk about?" asked Mako with confusion.

"I've noticed how you treat Korra. How you acted by her. You have feelings for her, don't you?" asked Asami with a frown.

"What? No!" said Mako.

"I like Korra. But you've been keeping the truth from me this whole time." said Asami.

"The truth? About what?" asked Mako still confused.

"You're really going to make me say it?" asked Asami.

"Yes! Because I don't know what you're talking about!" said Mako eagerly to know the reason for the conversation.

"The kiss, Mako. I know." said Asami, to the firebender's surprise.

"I… Well I… Bolin told you, didn't he?!" asked Mako.

"Don't blame your brother for what you did. Do you have feelings for Korra or not?" asked Asami.

"Look, things are crazy right now. Can we deal with our relationship problems later?" asked Mako wanting to leave that topic for another time.

"Well there might not be any relationship to worry about later." said Asami coming out of the kitchen very angry.

"Asami!" said Mako before lowering his head in disappointment for not knowing how to sort out his feelings.

Later, Tenzin was outside, planning to leave when he stopped to talk to Lin, who was behind him.

"Lin, um, I, I… I need to ask you a favor. It would mean the world to me… but I-I know it could be a… a potentially awkward situation; furthermore,..." began Tenzin not knowing how to ask such a favor of his old friend.

"Spit it out already!" said Lin wanting to know what that favor will be.

"Will you stay here and watch over Pema and the children while I meet with the council? With everything that has happened lately, I want to be sure my family is in safe hands." said Tenzin.

"Of course I'll help, old friend." said Lin with a smile and putting her hand on his shoulder.

"I didn't realize you two were out here." said Pema arriving on the scene with Meelo sleeping in her arms.

"Pema! Y-y-yes, Lin has agreed to help out around here and keep an eye on things while I'm away." said Tenzin.

"Thank you! I could use the extra pair of hands." began Pema just as Meelo woke up and passed him to Lin. "Would you mind giving him a bath? He's filthy."

Tenzin and Pema each went their separate ways, leaving poor Lin with Meelo.

"This is not what I signed on for!" exclaimed Lin.

"Thank you, Lin! Oogi, yip yip." said Tenzin slapping the reins of the flying bison, sending it flying off toward the city.

Lin stared in disgust at the child she would have to babysit.

Meanwhile, in the middle of the city, the councilwoman was getting ready to go to the meeting while her husband was reading the newspaper.

"Do you know where my keys are? I can't find them anywhere!" said the councilwoman.

"No, dear." said the husband without taking his eyes off the newspaper as the councilwoman went through her purse.

"Oh, found them!" said the councilwoman happy to have found them.

"Good, dear." said the husband without emotion.

"Don't wait up for me; this council session will probably go late into the night." said the councilwoman putting her keys away.

It was at that moment that someone knocked on the door.

"The door, dear." said the husband without looking away from the newspaper yet.

The councilwoman opened the door, only to find the lieutenant with another Equalist soldier, but they were without their suits, so she wasn't able to identify them.

"We're here to fix a spider-rat problem." said the disguised lieutenant showing an extermination device.

"But I didn't call an exterminator." said the councilwoman.

Suddenly, the lieutenant pointed the device at her, giving her an electric shock that knocked her down before the two equals entered the house.

"Dear?" asked the husband without realizing what was happening.

Meanwhile, Oogi flew up to the roof of the city hall.

Tenzin headed for the door, ignoring the cleaners who were cleaning the glass of the building's dome.

Suddenly, Tenzin felt a tingle that made him duck in time to dodge an incoming electric whip disc before leaping to the side to dodge two others.

As it turned out, those cleaners were equalists who lunged to attack Tenzin.

The airbender threw an air disc at them, but then two cleaners threw ropes that wrapped around his wrists and pulled on them to immobilize him.

The third cleaner jumped to kick him in the head, but Tenzin jumped to the side to dodge it.

The cleaner landed on the ground and tried to attack him again, but Tenzin dodged all of his attacks while the other two tried to immobilize him by pulling on the ropes binding his hands.

In the end, Tenzin rose up spinning in circles on a tornado that hit the cleaner while dragging the other two with it.

With the wind from the tornado, he knocked one down while the other two lost their grip on the rope and flew off onto the roof of another building.

Just as Tenzin landed, undoing the tornado in the process, the council messenger arrived on the scene.

"Ah, I'm so relieved to see you!" said the council messenger approaching the airbender.

"The other council members. Are they all right?" asked Tenzin.

"I'm afraid not! I just received a call from Chief Saikhan. They've all been captured!" said the council messenger, leaving the airbender aghast.

"This can't be happening." said Tenzin in horror.

"The leadership of Republic City is in your hands now." said the council messenger.

Tenzin was left pondering the situation he was in when suddenly explosions began to sound throughout the city.

Flying through the air were several Equalist airships.

"It is a tragic day indeed!" said the council messenger in horror and despair.

On the island, Lin and the young airbenders also saw the explosions and enemy airships in the city.

"All right, kids, time to go inside." said Lin.

As Jinora and her siblings returned inside the temple, Team Avatar came running to the scene.

"We heard explosions, what's going on?" asked Korra.

"Republic City is under attack." said Lin, causing the team to gasp in horror.

"Oh, no." said Masane in horror.

"Tenzin could be in trouble. We need to go as soon as possible." said Korra.

"She's right. We can't stay here while the city is in trouble." said Mako.

"Masane, it would be better if you stay here in case of emergency." said Asami.

"I will. Don't worry about us. Go get Tenzin." said Masane.

"Alright! Team Avatar, let's go!" exclaimed Bolin pointing to the city with a smile.

Meanwhile, on an Equalist airship, Hiroshi Sato was looking at an old photo of his family with nostalgia and regret, as he still felt hurt at having to fight his own daughter.

He put the photo away and stood next to Amon.

"I've dreamed of this day for so long." said Hiroshi looking out the window of the airship with the masked man.

"Yes, the time has come for the Equalists to claim Republic City as their own." said Amon.

While the city was still under enemy attack, a ship carrying Korra, Mako, Bolin and Asami arrived at the port and they quickly disembarked.

"Where did you say you parked the car?" asked Asami looking for the Team Avatar's vehicle at the same time as the others.

"It's right around here somewhere." began Korra before looking to the side to find what they were looking for. "There it is." said Korra pointing in that direction where they saw the team vehicle that had crashed into a stop pole, along with several traffic tickets.

"Wow, nice parking job." said Asami sarcastically as she and the others approached the vehicle.

"Hey, you guys got arrested and left me alone with the car! I made it very clear I don't know how to drive. Let Masane tell you about it. She was with me." said Korra trying to defend herself from her little car accident.

"Remind me to give you driving lessons when this is all over." commented Asami.

"I will." said Korra.

"All things considered you did a great job!" began Bolin before grabbing the tickets from the vehicle. "But how are we going to pay for all these parking tickets?"

His answer came as Mako took the fines and burned them with his firebending.

"Relax, the city is under attack. The police have more important things to worry about." said Mako.

Asami opened the back trunk to take out her electrified glove and put on.

"This'll come in handy." said Asami placing her weapons before sitting in the driver's seat.

Mako was about to sit in the passenger seat when…

"Why don't you sit in back? With Korra." asked Asami grudgingly.

"I think I will." said Mako with a frown.

Needless to say, Korra was worried about how Mako and Asami's relationship was going.

Mako sat next to her as Bolin sat in the passenger seat.

"Everything all right?" asked Korra with concern.

"Yeah, everything is terrific." said Mako sarcastically.

Asami reversed the vehicle before steering it forward down the road.

Meanwhile, at the police station, Saikhan was coordinating the situation.

"Chief! Air unit seven was just taken out by an Equalist airship. They've crashed into the harbor!" said a member of the communications team.

"Send a river rescue unit." ordered Saikhan.

"Chief, all the river rescue ships have been sabotaged!" reported another member of the communications team.

"What?" asked Saikhan surprised at how the situation was getting worse.

Just then, Tenzin entered the room and addressed the police chief.

"Chief Saikhan." said Tenzin catching the police chief's attention.

"Tenzin, am I glad to see you. I was afraid you'd been captured too." said Saikhan.

"I'm the only Council member left. What's the status?" asked Tenzin.

"Amon has launched simultaneous attacks across the boroughs. The police are trying to regain control but we're spread too thin." said Saikhan.

Tenzin stroked his beard as he thought of a solution.

"I need to send a wire." said Tenzin.

"To whom, Councilman?" asked the first member of the communications team.

"The general of the United Forces." said Tenzin seeing that there was no solution but to ask him for help.

In the corridors of the police station, the policemen were running from one side to the other when, suddenly, smoke came out of the vents and began to cover the corridors.

The policemen began to cough from the smoke before falling unconscious on the floor.

"Councilman, your wire has been sent." said the first member of the communications team.

"Chief, the phone lines just went dead!" said the second member of the communications team, to the surprise and horror of the police chief and the airbender.

Suddenly, the police station alarm began to sound before the lights and alarm went off, leaving the room in darkness.

Saikhan grabbed a pair of flashlights.

"Catch." said Saikhan tossing the other flashlight to Tenzin and turning them on to give the place some light.

That's when the same smoke from before started pouring out of the vent.

"Saikhan, the vents." warned Tenzin before the police chief quickly used metalbending to close the vent, though there was still a bit of smoke in the room, so there were a couple of coughs.

Tenzin turned around to shine the flashlight on the door, only to find that smoke was coming in from the bottom.

"We need to evacuate immediately. Everyone stay close to me." said Tenzin.

Outside the room, Tenzin was leading the group out of the room through the smoke-filled corridors while creating a dome of air to protect them.

They finally made it out of the commissary, but when Tenzin undid the air dome, he and the others gasped in horror as they found themselves surrounded by several mecha tanks, with three of them carrying some sort of platform in their right hands.

"Not these mecha tanks again!" exclaimed Tenzin in frustration.

The mecha tanks holding the platform raised the arms that held them and suddenly the policemen were drawn to them, signaling that they were some sort of magnet.

Tenzin quickly created a rope of air with which he grabbed Saikhan before he reached the magnet and they began a tug-of-war game between the magnet and the airbender.

But unfortunately, the magnet's strength was superior to Tenzin's and he ended up unraveling the air rope, causing Saikhan to be pulled towards the magnet.

The mecha tanks that trapped the policemen put them into a van and Tenzin got into position to fight the other mecha tanks.

One of them launched a grappling claw, but Tenzin neutralized it with an air bullet before launching a pair at the mecha tank, managing to push it back.

Two other mecha tanks launched their grappling claws, but Tenzin blocked them with airbending as the commissary officers retreated.

One mecha tank advanced toward Tenzin and tried to strike him, but the airbender jumped to dodge it.

However, the mecha tank took advantage of that to throw a grappling claw at him that grabbed him and pushed him to crash into the wall and drop him to the ground, but he was able to cushion his fall with airbending before he fell to the ground.

He raised his head and groaned slightly as he watched the van holding the cops drive away.

"Saikhan, no!" groaned Tenzin.

He then turned his gaze to one side to see a police blimp being shot down before turning his gaze to another side to see a group of Equalist soldiers emerge from another van to capture the officers with their bolas.

Tenzin felt desperate as he had no more strength to fight, they had captured and shot down the entire police force in the city and the Equalists were slowly winning.

Before he fell into unconsciousness, he saw in a blur as the mecha tanks approached him.

Soon after, the Team Avatar's satomobile was speeding through the streets until it reached city hall.

In the middle of the drive, Bolin created a pair of ramps for the vehicle.

"Jump!" shouted Asami as everyone exited the vehicle which used the ramps to launch itself toward the battlefield, knocking over a pair of mecha tanks in the process.

Team Avatar launched themselves into a fight against the remaining mecha tanks advancing towards them.

A mecha tank threw its grappling claw at Mako and grabbed him, shocking him with electricity in the process, causing him to groan in pain, but Mako endured the pain, grabbed the rope and used lightning generation to absorb the electricity and throw him back at the mecha tank, disconnecting it in the process.

Bolin erected a block of earth beneath him which he used to dodge a grappling claw from another mecha tank before creating a huge block of earth which he threw at it, knocking it down in the process.

Korra grabbed the surrounding snow to create two water whips as she advanced towards the mecha tank that threw its grappling claw at her, but Korra dodged it with a leap as she continued to charge towards it.

Using the ramp Bolin created earlier, she jumped over the mecha tank and while in the air, she introduced water into its exhaust pipes, causing it to short-circuit and then, slammed her fist into the ground and used earthbending to erect several earth platforms underneath the mecha tank that knocked it down.

A pair of Equalist soldiers were carrying Tenzin, who was still unconscious to the van when the first one received an electric shock from Asami.

Several Equalist soldiers rushed forward to fight her, but Asami proved agile enough to engage each of them and knock them down with her electrified gauntlet.

"Ugh. Thanks." said Tenzin having woken up from his unconscious state before launching himself into battle.

Mako was engaging the last mecha tank, throwing fireballs at them while dodging their blows.

The mecha tank threw its grappling claw at Tenzin who was approaching it, but he dodged it before getting underneath the mecha tank.

Once he was positioned there, he launched a powerful gust of wind that sent the mech tank flying towards the roof of a building.

The entire battle was being watched by Hiroshi through a telescope.

"Tenzin has escaped once again. I can't stand to see Asami fighting alongside those benders." said Hiroshi to the masked one.

"We'll capture them before long and you will have your daughter back." said Amon.

Back on the ground, Team Avatar managed to take down all the enemies.

"Are you all right?" asked Korra to Tenzin.

"I'm fine. Thank you, kids. Another moment later and I would have been on my way to Amon." said Tenzin.

"Uh, guys… Look." said Mako pointing to the horizon, where they could see an Equalist airship approaching Air Temple Island, much to the Airbender's horror.

"Oh, no." said Tenzin in horror.

"We have to get back and hurry!" said Korra.

Wasting no time, they all ran with all their might with the intention of getting back to the island and saving Tenzin's family before it was too late.

The entrance ramp of the island's airship opened to reveal the lieutenant along with several Equalist soldiers.

Suddenly, the airship shot a grappling rope that snagged on the island's floor and the soldiers used it to lower themselves down.

The White Lotus sentries saw that and rushed forward while Lin, Masane and Tenzin's family also watched from another side of the island.

"Everyone, hide inside and remain calm." said Lin.

Suddenly, Pema started screaming in pain.

"Mommy, what's wrong?" asked Ikki with concern.

"The baby's coming!" shouted Pema to the great surprise of everyone present, as that was neither the time nor the place for such a thing.

"Oh, no!" said Jinora.

"Not now, baby!" said Meelo.

"Really? Did it have to happen at a time like this?" asked Masane.

Two air acolytes quickly took Pema to a room so she could rest, leaving the children, the girl and the former police chief behind.

The White Lotus sentries stood at the top of some stairs as the Equalist soldiers rushed toward them.

As they climbed up the stairs, the sentries proceeded to launch water, ground and fire attacks at them, but suddenly, a grappling rope from another airship crashed in the middle of the stairs, down it came more Equalist soldiers and among those who came down, was the lieutenant.

Lin stood with Masane in the middle of the square, patiently waiting for the enemy.

"You should leave too. This is big for you." said Lin.

"Not at all. I intend to defend this island with everything I've got." said Masane with determination.

"Are you going to ask her to help?" asked Lin referring to the being inside her.

"Only if the situation calls for it." said Masane.

"Fine with me, but make sure you don't hog all the action before you let me act."

Putting that aside, the two focused on the battle to come.

There was an ominous silence for a few more seconds until they saw the lieutenant arrive with several Equalist soldiers.

Quickly, Lin threw two metal ropes that grabbed two Equalist soldiers and then slammed them into each other before tossing them aside.

One soldier tried to attack her, but Masane ran at him and gave him a side kick that knocked him down.

Another Equalist soldier threw his bolas at her, but Masane saw it coming and dodged it in time before running up to him and giving him a couple of punches to the chest and then giving him an uppercut, knocking him down in the process.

Two Equalist soldiers trying to attack her from both sides, but Masane dodged the punch from one before grabbing it and throwing it towards the other Equalist soldier.

Before they could recover, Masane leapt with a spinning kick and give them a kick to the head that knocked them both down.

One soldier tried to attack Lin, but she dodged the attack as she spun and readied her metal rope.

The soldier jumped back to try to dodge, but Lin caught him with her metal rope before sending him crashing into another incoming soldier.

Another Equalist soldier tried to attack her from behind, but she noticed this and with a stomp, erected an earthen block with which she struck the soldier under the chin.

Then, she erected another block of earth and shot a chunk of that block at another soldier, knocking him down in the process.

Finally, with a groan of effort, she slammed her palm against the ground, erecting three blocks of earth that hit three soldiers.

While the fighting was going on, Pema was in a bed being tended to by two elderly air acolytes.

"The children, where are they?" asked Pema with concern.

"Don't worry. They're in the other room, totally safe." said an elderly air acolyte woman.

Lin threw two metal ropes at the lieutenant which he wrapped around his electrified sticks before shooting an electric shock through the ropes which struck Lin, making her scream in pain before falling to her knees.

The lieutenant advanced towards her, but before she could get any closer, Masane stood in the middle in a fighting stance.

"Didn't your mother teach you to respect your elders?" asked Masane.

"Excuse me?" asked Lin feeling slightly offended.

"Well, well, well. Looks like the witch is tougher to crack than I imagined." said the lieutenant.

"I'll take that as a compliment." said Masane.

"Aren't you going to transform? I was hoping to settle the score with the other one." said the lieutenant.

"I didn't think I'd say this, but he's right. Why don't you relinquish control to me and let me take care of him?"

"No. I'd like, for once, to take him on by myself." thought Masane.

"As you wish. Just remember that you have me in case of need."

"Not this time, no. I will be your opponent." said Masane with determination.

"Fine with me, since if I kill you, I'll kill her too." said the lieutenant with a cruel smile as he activated his electrified sticks.

"Come here and try." said Masane making the 'come at me' gesture.

"My pleasure." said the lieutenant before charging towards her.

He first tried to hit her with his electrified sticks, but Masane was able to dodge them before throwing a couple of punches at the lieutenant that forced him back.

Before he could recover, Masane rushed towards him and landed a couple of blows to his head and body followed by a kick that knocked him down, but he got up shortly after.

"Just know that I've been training lately. I'm not the same as I used to be." said Masane.

The lieutenant snarled at her before returning to the attack.

He tried to hit her with one of his electrified sticks, but Masane dodged it before throwing a side kick, but the lieutenant blocked it with his arm and then tried to hit her with his other electrified stick.

Luckily, Masane was able to grab the arm before the weapon hit her just inches from her face, coming to feel the sparks.

With a groan of exertion, Masane lifted the lieutenant over her shoulder and slammed him hard against the floor.

Needless to say, Lin was shocked to see the girl overpowering the lieutenant.

The lieutenant grunted in frustration before lifting his legs to kick Masane which sent her backwards, something he took advantage of to start hitting her several times with his electrified sticks.

Masane tried to defend herself and resist, but the force put into those blows was too much for her.

Finally, the lieutenant touched her exposed stomach with the tips of his weapons, launching an electric shock that made her scream in pain before falling to the ground.

With a groan of pain and effort, she looked up to see the lieutenant.

"I admit you've improved, but without that witch, you're nothing" said the lieutenant preparing for the final blow when…

"Stay away from my friend." said Jinora flying to the stage with her glider before landing on the ground and throwing a wind wave with her staff that launched the lieutenant to the other side of the building.

"Jinora?!" asked Masane in shock.

"You shouldn't be here!" said Lin.

At that moment, Ikki appeared on a large air scooter with which he knocked down a couple of soldiers.

"Get off our island!" demanded Ikki as she hit more soldiers with her air scooter which she undid before standing next to the former police chief, the girl and her older sister.

"Girls, this is dangerous! Get back inside right now!" said Masane as she and Lin stood up.

A couple of soldiers prepared to fight, but then…

"Taste my fury!" shouted Meelo launching himself at them from above and hitting a soldier with a blast of wind from his butt.

"Meelo! Be careful!" shouted Lin concerned for the young airbender, but Meelo was able to knock down several soldiers with powerful blasts of wind before creating around him a sphere of wind which he blew up to hit two incoming soldiers.

"Better forget it." said Masane with a bead of sweat.

Later, the group was with the White Lotus sentries and in front of them were the bound and defeated soldiers.

"Take these Equalists and lock them in the temple's basement!" ordered Lin to the sentries.

"Well done, children. I'm impressed at how strong you are." said Masane congratulating the young airbenders who smiled at that.

It was then that they heard the growl of a flying bison.

"Dad!" exclaimed Jinora happy to see her father and running to where he was going to land with her brothers behind.

Oogi landed in the middle of the spot and the rest of Team Avatar and Tenzin got out of it, with the airbender hugging his children soon after.

"Oh, thank goodness you're all right!" said Tenzin thankful that his children were safe and sound.

"We caught the bad guys." said Meelo who stood over his father's head.

"You let them fight? Do you realize what could have happened?" asked Tenzin angrily to his old friend.

"I would have been toast if it weren't for your kids." said Lin with her arms crossed.

"You should be proud, Tenzin. You've taught them well." said Masane a smile.

Tenzin glanced at his three children, feeling quite proud of how strong and skilled they had become.

"Go on, be with your wife." said Lin as Tenzin and his children went inside the temple.

"By the way, Masane, are you okay?" asked Korra.

"A little sore from fighting the lieutenant, but I'm fine." said Masane.

"You've impressed me. You've become more skilled than I remembered." said Lin with a small smile.

"I'm impressed too. I didn't remember you as feisty. At least, like that."

"Well, I had good teachers." said Masane looking at his friends with a smile that they returned.

Inside the temple, Tenzin was walking quietly when suddenly he heard a baby crying, causing him to start running with extreme concern.

"Pema!" said Tenzin worried for his wife.

Soon after, he arrived in the room where she was resting and a smile of pure happiness graced her face when she saw her fourth child in her arms.

"Tenzin." said Pema looking at her husband who sat next to her as she continued to look at the baby in her arms.

"I'm here, Pema." said Tenzin.

"Our new son." said Pema before passing the baby to Tenzin who stroked the baby's chin, making him open his eyes and look at him.

"Hello." said Tenzin greeting his new son.

At that moment, Jinora and her siblings peeked through the door, which their parents noticed.

"Come, meet your new brother." said Tenzin.

"A brother? Well it's about time!" commented Meelo as he and his sisters entered the room and walked over to see their baby brother.

"Welcome, I'm Ikki, and this is Jinora and Meelo. We have a super great family and we're so happy that you're a part of it." Ikki said to the baby who smiled as he looked at his older siblings.

"What're you gonna name him? Can I pick?" asked Jinora to her parents.

"We already chose a name." said Pema as she and her husband shared glances.

"Rohan." said Tenzin with a joyful smile.

The whole scene was being watched by Lin, Korra, Mako and Masane, who were smiling at the family reunion.

"I'm so sorry to interrupt." began Korra getting the family's attention. "But more airships are coming." said Korra to the family's concern.

"Everything's not gonna be fine, is it, Daddy?" asked Ikki.

Tenzin took a look at his children, his wife and his new born son and came to a tough decision.

All to protect them all.

Outside the temple, Tenzin, Lin and the rest of the team met up with Bolin and Asami who were contemplating something in the sky, which was a pair of Equalist airships heading for the island.

"What do you want to do, Tenzin?" asked Korra.

"I need to protect my family, and get them as far away from this conflict as possible. If Amon got his hands on my children… I hate to even think of it." said Tenzin.

"If you're leaving, then I'm going with you." said Lin.

"But..." began Tenzin trying to deny the former police chief's offer.

"No arguments. You and your family are the last airbenders. There's no way in the world I'm letting Amon take your bending away." said Lin with firm decision.

"Thank you, Lin." said Tenzin before focusing on the Avatar. "Korra, I want you to leave this island and hide for the time being."

"I'm not giving up." said Korra indignantly at the airbender's request.

"She's right. We have to fight to the end." said Masane.

"I know, but I sent word to the United Forces. They will be here soon. And once my family is safe, I will return. With the reinforcements, we can turn the tide in this war." said Tenzin explaining his intentions.

"What you're saying is, we need to be patient." said Korra.

"You're learning well." said Tenzin with a small smile which Korra returned.

Then Tenzin turned his gaze to the girl.

"You can come with us if you wish, Masane." said Tenzin.

"I appreciate the offer, Tenzin, but I'd rather stay here, with Korra and the others, and help as much as I can in this fight." said Masane.

"If that's what you want, I'll accept it." said Tenzin with a smile that Masane returned.

Later, Team Avatar stood in front of a pair of flying bison, Tenzin and Lin's family standing on one of them as the airbender bade them farewell.

Korra gave her airbender master one last hug.

"Stay safe, Korra, Korra." began Tenzin with his hands on the Avatar's shoulders before turning his gaze to the other girl. "Stay safe too, Masane."

"I will, Master Tenzin." said Masane with a smile.

"You too." said Korra.

"Tenzin, if we're leaving, we'd better do it now." said Lin before Tenzin climbed on top of Oogi.

"Oogi, yip yip." said Tenzin causing the flying bison to take flight along with the other flying bison.

Team Avatar stood and watched as the flying bison flew away, but alas, the equalist blimps had also arrived and began to chase them as a third blimp stopped over the island before shooting a grappling rope that snagged right where the team was standing.

Down the rope came a pair of Equalist soldiers, but White Lotus sentries stood between them and the team.

"Go! We'll hold them off!" said one of the sentries.

"Everyone, climb on!" began Korra as she and the others climbed on top of Naga. "Let's go, girl!" said Korra as the polar bear dog bolted away from the site, leaving the sentries behind who were completely surrounded by the Equalist soldiers.

As Naga ran down the mountain, Bolin spotted something worrisome.

"Mustache guy!" exclaimed Bolin pointing to a spot where they saw the lieutenant sliding down the mountainside and jumping towards them.

But then, Naga jumped at him and hit him with her right paw, sending him to the beach below.

"Good girl, Naga!" said Masane.

After that, Naga jumped into the water and Korra created around everyone an air bubble that would allow them to breathe as they swam away from the island, straight to the city.

Meanwhile, Oogi was flying as fast as he could with the intention of getting away from the pursuing blimps, but the blimps were going even faster than he was.

"They're gaining on us!" reported Lin.

"Faster, Oogi!" said Tenzin slapping the reins of the bison which sped up the flight.

Suddenly, one of the airships shot out a retractable net, but Lin destroyed it with a metal rope before tangling her rope with that of the net and standing up.

Lin looked at the family who looked worriedly at the scene in front of them. Then Lin changed her worried expression to one of pure determination.

"Whatever happens to me, don't turn back!" said Lin.

"Lin, what are you doing?!" asked Tenzin turning his head to look at her with a frown, not liking what she was proposing.

Lin ran across Oogi's back before jumping off of him and using the metal rope to swing and launch herself onto the airship's roof. She then used metalbending to shatter the metal roof of the airship, causing an explosion that caused it to fall.

She then used metalbending to launch herself at the other airship and proceed to do the same to it, but in the process, a boleadora wrapped itself around her and her legs, causing her to fall before suffering an electric shock that knocked her unconscious.

It was then, when the remaining airship turned around and retreated, a thing that was seen by Tenzin and his family, who looked shocked by the sacrifice of the former police chief.

"That lady is my hero." said Meelo.

"Yes, she is." said Tenzin regretfully.

Thanks to what Lin did, Oogi was able to get much further away from the area.

At the entrance to the city sewer, Team Avatar stood watching sadly as the Equalists took over Air Temple Island.

Masane put her hand on the Avatar's shoulder in an attempt to comfort her.

"Korra, we should get moving." said Mako before the team went into the tunnel, with Mako having her arm around Korra, which annoyed Asami.

That night, while it was raining on the island occupied by the Equalists, Lin was forced to kneel on the ground and when she raised her head, she saw in front of her Amon, the lieutenant and several Equalist soldiers.

"Tell me where the Avatar is and I'll let you keep your bending." said Amon offering a way out.

"I won't tell you anything, you monster." said Lin.

"Very well." said Amon before standing behind Lin, who closed her eyes, preparing herself for what was coming, and placing his left hand on the back of her neck and his right hand on her forehead, thus snatching her bending powers from her.

After that, Lin fell unconscious to the ground.

The next morning, a man was on a ship looking at the horizon.

Shortly thereafter, another man approached him from behind.

"General, I just received a wire from the Avatar. She says Amon and his forces have gained control of the city. How do you want to respond?" the man asked.

"Tell her we will be arriving in three days' time. And that I look forward to winning back Republic City, together." said the first man.

"As you wish, General Iroh." said the second man with a military salute before walking away.

The camera zoomed out, showing, not only the ship General Iroh II was on, but also many other ships nearby, heading for Republic City to help Team Avatar and take on Amon.
