Chapter 6: training for UA entrance exams

FrostFang Hero Agency - Morning

Jake, Kwasi, Fang, and Naja were at the FrostFang Hero Agency to train for the U.A. entrance exam, which was in 10 months. They were in the agency's training room, designed to look like a snowy environment with all-white surroundings, perfect for the two teens and Kwasi to practice in.

Jake looked around the room, impressed by the setup. "This place is incredible," he said, turning to Naja. "So, what's the plan for our training?"

Naja nodded. "First, we're going to work on your physical conditioning. The entrance exam is not just about your quirks; it's about your stamina, strength, and strategic thinking. You'll need all of that to succeed."

Fang stretched, preparing himself. "I'm ready. What do we start with?"

"Today, we focus on endurance and agility," Naja explained. "You'll run through an obstacle course designed to test your limits. Kwasi will assist you, Jake, with your miraculous powers, and Fang, you'll be using your quirk to navigate through the challenges."

Kwasi flew out of Jake's pocket, hovering beside him. "We've got this, Jake. Just remember to pace yourself and stay focused."

Jake nodded, determination in his eyes. "Right. Let's do this."

Fang looked at his brother, a smirk on his face. "Think you can keep up, little bro?"

Jake grinned back. "Just try to keep up with me."

Naja clapped his hands. "Alright, enough talk. Let's get to it. The course is set, and the timer starts now!"

As the two brothers sprinted towards the first obstacle, the training room came alive with various challenges, from climbing walls to dodging projectiles. Jake used his agility and Kwasi's guidance to maneuver through the course, while Fang relied on his quick reflexes and quirk to navigate the obstacles.

Naja watched them closely, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses. "Remember, this is just the beginning. You've got a long way to go, but I believe in both of you. Keep pushing your limits."

The boys continued their training, determination driving them forward. They knew that the next 10 months would be grueling, but with Naja's guidance and their own resolve, they were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead

10 Months Later...

Month 1 - Endurance and Strength

The boys sweat dripped as they pushed through intense workouts, lifting weights, running endless laps, and honing their endurance. Naja pushed them harder each day, reminding them that the U.A. entrance exam would demand nothing less than their best.

Month 2 - Quirk Mastery

Under Naja's guidance, Jake and Fang delved deeper into understanding and mastering their quirks. They practiced new techniques, fine-tuning their abilities to unleash their full potential. Kwasi provided invaluable support, offering insights and encouragement along the way.

Month 3 - Strategic Thinking

In the strategic thinking phase, the boys faced challenging simulations and puzzles designed to test their problem-solving skills. They learned to analyze situations quickly and make split-second decisions under pressure, essential skills for any aspiring hero.

Month 4 - Teamwork and Coordination

As the training intensified, Jake and Fang focused on teamwork and coordination. They practiced coordinated attacks and maneuvers, learning to anticipate each other's moves and work seamlessly together. Naja emphasized the importance of trust and communication in the heat of battle.

Month 5 - Combat Training

Combat training brought them face to face with formidable opponents, both human and simulated. They sparred with experienced heroes, honing their combat skills and learning from every defeat. Each setback only fueled their determination to improve.

Month 6 - Mental Resilience

Naja challenged them to confront their fears and doubts, pushing them beyond their limits both physically and mentally. They endured grueling mental exercises and faced their inner demons, emerging stronger and more resilient than before.

Month 7 - Specialized Techniques

With the basics mastered, Jake and Fang delved into specialized techniques tailored to their individual strengths. Jake focused on agility and evasion, while Fang honed his offensive capabilities. They experimented with new strategies and refined their signature moves.

Month 8 - Real-world Scenarios

Naja introduced real-world scenarios, simulating emergency situations and crisis management scenarios. The boys applied their training to solve complex problems and rescue simulations, preparing them for the unpredictable challenges of hero work.

Month 9 - Final Preparations

As the entrance exam drew near, Jake and Fang intensified their training, leaving no stone unturned in their quest for excellence. They pushed themselves to their limits, fueled by the knowledge that their dreams were within reach.

FrostFang Hero Agency - Evening

Jake and Fang lay on the ground, exhausted and sweating. It had been 10 months since they began their training for the U.A. entrance exams, and Naja had informed them that this would be their final test—the ultimate challenge.

"All right, boys, get up. This is your final test to see if you can take the entrance exams for U.A.," Naja said.

"So, what do you want us to do, Uncle Naja?" Jake asked.

"Yeah, what is it?" Fang added.

"I want you to fight me," Naja said.

"What?!" Jake and Fang exclaimed in unison.

Jake and Fang exchanged uncertain glances before turning back to Naja.

"Uncle Naja, are you serious?" Jake asked, still catching his breath.

"Yes, I am. You've both trained hard these past ten months, but now I need to see if you can apply everything you've learned under pressure," Naja replied.

Fang wiped sweat from his forehead and stood up. "So, how is this going to work? Are we supposed to use everything we've got?"

"Exactly," Naja said with a nod. "Consider this a real battle. You need to work together, use your quirks and your miraculous powers wisely."

Kwasi flew out of Jake's pocket and landed on his shoulder. "Jake, we can do this. Remember everything we've learned."

Jake took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay, Kwasi. Spots on!"

With a flash of light, Jake transformed into Beetle. Fang activated his quirk, his body glowing with a frosty blue aura.

"Ready, Fang?" Beetle asked.

"Ready," Fang replied, ice forming around his fists.

Naja smiled, stepping back and assuming a fighting stance. "Let's see what you boys are made of."

The battle began with Beetle and Fang charging at Naja, working in perfect unison. Beetle's agility and yo-yo skills complemented Fang's powerful ice attacks. Naja dodged their initial strikes, but the boys quickly adapted, coordinating their movements and attacking from multiple angles.

Impressive teamwork," Naja said, blocking a strike from Beetle with one hand while deflecting an ice shard from Fang with the other. "But you'll need to do better than that."

Beetle swung his yo-yo, aiming to entangle Naja's legs, while Fang created a wall of ice to limit Naja's movement. Naja leapt into the air, avoiding the yo-yo and smashing through the ice wall with a powerful kick.

"Keep going!" Naja shouted. "Don't let up!"

Beetle and Fang redoubled their efforts, their attacks becoming more synchronized and strategic. Fang used his ice to create platforms in the air, allowing Beetle to maneuver more freely. Beetle's yo-yo became a blur, a whirlwind of attacks that kept Naja on the defensive.

After several intense minutes, Naja finally called out, "Enough!"

The boys stopped, panting heavily but grinning. Naja relaxed his stance, nodding approvingly.

"You've both done well," Naja said. "You've shown great improvement and teamwork. I'm confident you both have what it takes to pass the U.A. entrance exams."

Beetle and Fang high-fived, their exhaustion momentarily forgotten in their excitement.

"Thank you, Uncle Naja," Beetle said, detransforming back into Jake.

"Yeah, thanks for everything," Fang added, his frosty aura fading.

Naja smiled proudly at them. "You're welcome. Now, go and show U.A. what you're made of."

As the two boys walked off, Naja couldn't help but smile at them.

"Look at them, Ookami," Naja said to himself. "Just like us when we were their age—a perfect team."

"Hey, how come you didn't use your Lucky Charm?" Fang asked.

"Oh, I didn't need to use it," Jake said as Kwasi flew out and sat on his shoulder.

"Hey, what's up with the frost thing? I thought you only had Mom's quirk, Sound Waves," Jake asked.

"You mean Moon Call?" Fang said.

"Yeah," Jake replied.

"It turns out during the 10 months we were training, I found out I have both our parents' quirks," Fang said.

"Dude, that's awesome!" Jake said.

"It's not really, but look at you. You're the guardian of the miraculous now; you basically have every power you could ever want," Fang said.

"Yeah, that's true, but I'm only using it for emergencies. Right now, I'm only using the Ladybug miraculous," Jake said.

"Oh yeah, have you figured out how to change the miraculous into something else? Because, bro, the earrings are not working for you," Fang said with a chuckle.

"I think I know how," Jake said, smiling confidently.

"Really? How?" Fang asked, intrigued.

"Well, Master Fu left some notes and instructions in the Miracle Box. I've been studying them," Jake explained, pulling out the Miracle Box from his bag. "Kwasi, can you help me out here?"

"Of course," Kwasi replied, hovering near Jake. "The key is to visualize what you want the miraculous to look like while channeling your intent."

Jake closed his eyes, focusing on the earrings. Slowly, they began to change shape, transforming into a sleek wristband with the same black and red spotted pattern.

"Whoa, that's pretty cool," Fang said, impressed.

Jake looked at his new wristband and smiled. "Thanks. It feels more like me now."

"You've come a long way, Jake," Fang said, patting his brother on the back. "And you too, Kwasi."

"Thanks, Fang," Kwasi said with a grin. "But remember, it's not just about the miraculous. It's about the heart and courage of the wielder."

"Yeah, and with all this training, I think we're ready for the U.A. entrance exam," Jake said, determination in his eyes.

"Absolutely," Fang agreed. "Let's show them what the Ookami brothers can do."

As they headed back to the training room to meet Naja, Jake felt a renewed sense of confidence. He was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing he had the support of his brother and Kwasi. Together, they were unstoppable.

Dagobah Beach Park - Afternoon

The next day

Meanwhile, Midoriya was trying to figure out how to use One For All without breaking his bones. With the help of Ravage, he eventually figured it out. After watching All Might move up close, Midoriya realized he had been using One For All wrong. He had been turning it on and off whenever he used it, as if it were an external weapon, like a gun or sword.

He learned that One For All is an extension of his entire body. He started to focus the power not just in one part of his body but throughout all of it, similar to his miraculous powers. Now, Midoriya could effectively use One For All without much of a problem and even invented his own fighting style called Full Cowling. Midoriya was now able to use One For All's power at 12% and at a very proficient level. If he were to go over his limits, he would strain his body or break his bones. All Might warned him to only use the amount of power he could handle until he could develop his body further to handle more of One For All's power.

Midoriya stood on the beach, wiping sweat from his brow, feeling the surge of power coursing through his body. He glanced at Ravage, who floated beside him, eyes filled with curiosity.

"I think I've got the hang of it now," Midoriya said, a determined glint in his eyes. "Full Cowling feels so natural. It's like I'm not just borrowing One For All, but truly making it a part of me."

Ravage nodded approvingly. "You've done an amazing job, Izuku. It's not easy mastering such a powerful quirk in such a short time."

Midoriya smiled, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "Thanks, Ravage. I couldn't have done it without your guidance. You really helped me see One For All in a new way."

Ravage hovered closer, his expression turning serious. "Just remember, Izuku, you need to stay cautious. Using more than 12% of One For All can still cause serious damage to your body. Take it step by step."

"I know," Midoriya replied, his voice steady. "I'll be careful. I've learned to respect the power I have. I'll push my limits, but I won't be reckless."

Ravage's serious expression softened into a proud smile. "That's the spirit. You've grown so much, Izuku. You're becoming a true hero."

Midoriya's eyes sparkled with gratitude. "Thank you, Ravage. And speaking of growth, I've been thinking… I still want to be a Miraculous holder, even with One For All. Do you think I can handle both?"

Ravage looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding. "It will be a challenge, but if anyone can do it, it's you. Balancing the responsibilities of both One For All and being a Miraculous holder will require immense dedication, but I believe in you."

Midoriya felt a surge of determination. "I'll find a way to make it work. I can't abandon my duty as Shadow Claw. There's too much at stake."

Ravage placed a reassuring paw on Midoriya's shoulder. "Then let's keep moving forward, together. We'll face every challenge head-on and come out stronger."

Midoriya nodded firmly. "Together. We'll make it happen."

With renewed resolve, the two stared out at the now-clean beach, knowing that their journey was just beginning, and that together, they could overcome any obstacle in their path.

Ookami Residence - Morning

Today was the day. Months had passed since Jake sent in his application, and now it had been accepted. All that was left was to take the exam and pass it.

"I'm walking to U.A. with fang today. Don't want to be late," Jake said to himself as he put his wristband on. Kwasi popped out of his jacket.

"You ready for this, Jake?" Kwasi asked.

"Yeah, buddy," Jake replied with a smile.

Just then, Fang walked into the room.

"Hey, guys," Fang said.

"Hey, Fang. You ready for this?" Jake asked.

"Always," Fang replied.

Both of them then put on their school uniforms and walked out of Jake's room to the kitchen, where their uncle was waiting for them.

As Jake and Fang entered the kitchen, they saw their uncle, Naja, sipping on a cup of coffee. He looked up and smiled at the sight of them in their school uniforms.

"Look at you two, all set and ready for the big day," Naja said, his voice filled with pride.

"Thanks, Uncle Naja. We're ready to give it our best," Jake replied, grabbing a piece of toast.

"Yeah, we've been training so hard for this," Fang added, pouring himself a glass of juice.

Naja set his coffee cup down and stood up. "I know you both will do great. Remember, it's not just about your quirks or your miraculous abilities. It's about heart, courage, and determination. You've got all of that and more."

Kwasi flew out of Jake's jacket and settled on his shoulder. "You've both worked incredibly hard. Today is just the next step in your journey."

Jake nodded, feeling a surge of confidence. "Thanks, Kwasi. Thanks, Uncle Naja."

Fang adjusted his backpack and looked at his brother. "We should get going. Don't want to be late for the exam."

Naja walked them to the door and gave each of them a reassuring pat on the back. "Good luck, boys. Show them what you're made of."

With a final nod, Jake and Fang headed out the door, ready to face the challenges ahead. As they walked down the street towards U.A., they could feel the excitement and nerves building up, but they knew they had prepared for this moment.

"We've got this, Fang," Jake said, his determination clear in his voice.

"Yeah, we do. Let's make them proud," Fang replied, his eyes shining with confidence.

Together, they made their way towards U.A., ready to take on whatever the entrance exam had in store for them.

U.A. High School Front Entrance- Morning

The two brothers arrived at the train station as planned and took a short ride since U.A. was a good distance away from where they lived. As soon as the train stopped, the two of them made their way down the street, noticing more students walking beside them.

"Look at all these people," Jake said, observing the crowd. "You think they're trying out for U.A.?"

"That's what it looks like, dude," Fang replied. "U.A. is the best Hero course school in the country, so it's not surprising to see this many people here applying."

"Makes sense, but I feel bad for the ones who won't make it in. U.A. is said to have a 7% pass rate, and some are lucky enough to end up in the Hero course," Kwasi added from Jake's jacket pocket, looking nervous.

"Yeah, it would suck not getting into the school you wanted," Fang said, understanding their concern.

"That's life for you. There's nothing you can do but make sure you pass," Jake said with a sigh.

The brothers started to see a giant building in the distance. It was U.A. High School. The school looked more impressive up close than it did in the pictures. They didn't capture the sheer size of the place. It was huge and impressive, with head busts of old heroes and decorations that made it clear no expense was spared in making the school.

"You two ready for this?" Kwasi asked his friend/owner.

Ten months ago, Jake would have laughed at anyone who asked him that. But now? After getting powers from the miraculous, becoming the guardian of the miracle box, and training to hone his skills for months? Jake felt pretty good about his odds.

"You know it," Jake said, rolling his neck.

"Totally," Fang said with a cocky grin.

Kwasi smiled at his determined friends. "Then show U.A. that the Ookami brothers are here."

"Yes," the two of them said in sync as they ran inside the building.

Meanwhile, as Izuku stepped foot at UA's gate, he suddenly bumped into Bakugou, who was storming out of the entrance with his usual scowl.

"Watch where you're going, Deku!" Bakugo barked, his voice sharp as ever.

The boy panicked, waving his hands around. "Oh hey, good morning! Let's both just do our best out there, okay?! Good luck!" Midoriya said, getting off the ground.

"And sorry, Kacchan," Izuku apologized quickly, taking a step back to avoid any confrontation. "I didn't mean to bump into you."

He narrowed his eyes at the green-haired boy, continuing on his path. "Get out of my way now before I set you on fire."

The blonde just stopped next to him and gave him his usual glares. "You shouldn't be here, Deku. A useless failure like you has no right to take this exam. So why don't you save yourself the embarrassment and leave," Bakugo angrily said to the boy.

"Um, yeah, you're right," Izuku said, looking down at the ground.

Ravage was glaring at the blonde with an intense stare from Izuku's jacket pocket.

"Oh, that's it! Nobody treats my buddy like that!" Ravage sneaks out from Izuku's jacket pocket and throws a rock at Bakugou's head, causing him to look at Izuku with an evil grin.

Izuku nervously watched as Bakugou's eyes glinted with mischief, clearly enjoying the opportunity to taunt him further. Ravage, however, stood defiantly, ready to defend his friend at any cost.

Bakugou chuckled menacingly. "Looks like the little nerd brought his pet rat to play hero. How pathetic."

Izuku felt a surge of determination. He couldn't let Bakugou's words get to him, not today. Today was too important. With a deep breath, he squared his shoulders and met Bakugou's gaze head-on.

"Ravage isn't a pet rat," Izuku retorted, his voice steady despite his nerves. "He's my partner, and he's more heroic than you'll ever be."

Bakugou's smirk faltered for a moment before he regained his composure. "Hah! We'll see about that, Deku. Just try not to embarrass yourself too much out there," he sneered, brushing past Izuku and disappearing into the crowd.

Izuku clenched his fists, feeling a mix of frustration and determination coursing through him. He knew he had to focus on the exam ahead, but Bakugou's words lingered in his mind.

"Don't listen to him, Izuku," Ravage said, hopping back into his pocket. "You've come too far to let someone like him bring you down."

Izuku nodded, grateful for his friend's support. With renewed resolve, he headed towards the entrance of UA, ready to face whatever challenges awaited him.

Midoriya stood there for a moment, lost in his thoughts before a smile spread across his face. "Ravage is right. I'm not defenseless anymore... Yeah! I have to remember all the work I put in." His legs wobbled as he walked forward. "Thanks to Ravage, All Might, and most of all, thanks to that old man who gave me the miraculous in the first place. Thanks to him, I'm actually going to be a hero," Midoriya thought as he walked forward, but he caught his foot on the other, beginning to fall. "Or I'll just die."

Suddenly, Midoriya found himself floating in the air, with a brown-haired girl standing next to him.

Her name was Uraraka Ochako.

She was a short girl of a slender yet curvy figure, fair-skinned with a perpetual blush on her cheeks. Her eyes were large and round, with warm brown irises. Her shoulder-length hair was bobbed and curved inwards at the ends, two longer clumps taking the same shape on either side of her face. On the top inner segment of each of her fingers, she had a small pink pad, resembling the toe of a cat or a dog's paw. She wore a brown jacket under her school uniform.

"Heh! Are you okay?" Uraraka asked the boy.

Midoriya began panicking as he floated, scrambling around in the air. Uraraka giggled, helping him down.

"I stopped you with my quirk," Uraraka smiled. "I'm sorry I didn't ask first! But!" She tilted her head. "I figured you wouldn't mind me catching you." Midoriya stared at her as she continued speaking. "Isn't this all like, way nerve-racking?"

Midoriya's cheeks tinted pink as he nervously stuttered, awkwardly moving around. "Uh... I, uh..."

"Well..." Uraraka said. "I guess I'll see you inside!" She turned, waving back to him. "Bye!"

Midoriya accidentally made a terrifying face, trying to smile. "Oh, woah! I just talked to another girl!" He said as Ravage popped his head out.

"you actually didn't do it right," Ravage said with a raised eyebrow .

Midoriya took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves as he watched Uraraka walk away. "Okay, Izuku, you got this," he muttered to himself, his heart still racing from the encounter.

Ravage nudged him from his pocket, offering a supportive chirp. "You did great back there, Izuku. Just keep being yourself," Ravage said, his eyes reflecting encouragement.

Izuku nodded, a determined glint in his eyes. "Thanks, Ravage. Let's do this," he said with newfound confidence as they headed towards the entrance of U.A. High School.

As they entered the bustling school grounds, Izuku couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement mixed with nerves. The air was filled with the chatter of students and the anticipation of the upcoming entrance exam.

"We're finally here, Ravage," Izuku whispered, his voice filled with awe as he glanced around at the impressive campus.

"Yeah, and we're ready for whatever comes our way," Ravage replied, his tone brimming with determination.

With a deep breath, Izuku stepped forward, ready to face whatever challenges awaited him at U.A. High School.
