After Usagi is kidnapped by Queen Beryl, Mamoru, the Sailor Guardians, and the Shitennou Knights need to come to terms the princess had been kidnapped. They know the one person who has a lead will be the one person who is liable to hurt Mamoru for not taking care of his little girl.
(Monday Evening)
Kenji walked into the house after being dragged out of the house by Yoshi at the crack of dawn. His friend had barely given him any time to clean himself up, dressed, and eat as he wanted to get started right away.
Yoshi had a wild theory about where his boy and the other boys had been. However, it didn't make sense because all of them had been taken at different parts of Tokyo. He slipped out of his shoes with a sigh of relief. After putting on his slippers, he felt mostly human.
"Hello?" he heard Ikuko call out from the kitchen.
"I'm home, Ikuko," Kenji called back to her. He walked into the kitchen to kiss and hug her hello. "Where is everyone?"
"Shingo is upstairs doing homework," Ikuko told him, after he let her go. She had walked to the refrigerator to grab his portion of dinner, to heat it up, and serve it to him. "Usagi had gone to Mamoru's after school." She had decided she wasn't going to tell Kenji how Usagi got to school this morning, how she got home after school, and how she got to Mamoru's; she was going to keep that little detail to herself. She had remembered being fourteen once and would have been thrilled with an older boyfriend who had a car, and what Kenji didn't know wouldn't hurt him. "Though, Ryo called. Apparently, Ami met her conditions. They should be resurrecting him right now."
Kenji gave her a curious look. "But it's Ami's decision," he said with confusion. "Wouldn't she have realized she had made a decision in regards to Zoi?"
Ikuko shrugged as she didn't know how Ami or any of the other girls didn't realize they made a decision. "All I know is, Kenji, by the time Usagi comes home, all of the boys will be resurrected and healed," she told him. She placed a skillet on the burner and poured the contents of Kenji's dinner in the skillet. "Safe is another matter."
Kenji sighed, understanding what she meant. "I'll say," he said. "Does Saburo know there may be another mouth to feed when the boys and Rei get back to Hikawa Shrine? Or does Kenta know his son is being healed?"
Ikuko gave him a look, thinking about the fact that Usagi only told her about what happened with Jae last night just after she got home from school and just before she left to go to Mamoru's. "You missed a lot when Yoshi dragged you out of the house this morning," she told him as she took a bowl out of a cupboard and dumped his dinner in the bowl. "Where did Yoshi take you anyway?"
Kenji couldn't help it, but he grinned at her. "We have a lead where Beryl might be or at least how she and the Shitennou Knight had been getting back and forth," he said as they walked to the dining room table. He wondered if they were unaware there was a portal so close which made their travel so easy, but it was only a theory. A working theory, but it was still a theory. "I was really hoping Usagi would be home, so I could tell her." He sat in a chair and started eating.
"Well, you'll have to wait," Ikuko said, taking the chair right next to him, and then sighed. "You remember I told you she told me her feelings after everyone left last night."
Kenji looked over at Ikuko. "Has Usagi been more open with you since she told us she's Sailor Moon?" he asked her.
Ikuko had thought about it, but she loved the fact her daughter was more open with her than she had been. She even thought about the night before when Usagi had told her she wanted to tell her everything. When Ikuko had agreed and they sat down to talk, once Usagi started, she couldn't stop. There had been tears, laughter, love, hate, and everything in between. The one thing that was clear to her was how much Mamoru loved her daughter and how he would always protect her or die trying.
Ikuko knew that is what Queen Serenity had seen in him as well, but it didn't stop her from being worried. Queen Serenity may have been her mother in the last life, but in this life, she was her mother. There were moments where she had worried about Usagi, especially in the last months when Mamoru had disappeared and worked for the Dark Kingdom. She didn't know it at the time, but having the full timeline, everything fell into place.
Ikuko remembered how Luna had stayed quiet during the whole explanation. She was still deciding on how she felt about Luna. She knew Luna loved her daughter and held the utmost respect for her and Kenji. It seemed to her Luna felt like the whole thing had gotten away from her since Friday, and it looked like she was coping with it.
"Ikuko, where'd you go?" Kenji asked his wife as he finished his last bite of food and got up from the table to set his dish in the sink, thinking he was going to get it later.
"I'm sorry," Ikuko said as she came back to the present. "It's still so new, but she is more open, trusting, and communicative to me." She looked up at Kenji. "I think the reason why Queen Serenity had sent us to this era, so Usagi could live a normal life." She closed her eyes as the memory pulled at her. "So she could be with the one she wanted, but Beryl couldn't just let her have that." Ikuko sighed as she got up from the table and walked over to the couch in the dining room.
"Ikuko?" Kenji asked as he followed her and sat down next to her. "What about these trials she and the other girls had to go through?"
Ikuko looked up to the ceiling. "I think the whole thing with Beryl and the Dark Kingdom, Kenji, has always been about decisions," she continued, finally telling someone what had been in her heart since she was told about everything. "Yours, mine, Usagi's, her friends', Mamoru's, his friends', and everyone who has had a connection to this has had to make a decision." She looked over at Kenji. "I just hope they make the right decision. The best decision for everyone involved."
"So far," Kenji told her. He had been married to this woman for over sixteen years, and he knew and loved her well. When it came to their children, he never questioned her. "It seems like it's been the right decision."
"Remind me of that when I need to hear it," Ikuko said.
Kenji chuckled and kissed her temple before they heard a knock on the door. He checked his watch, and he frowned at the time. "If that was Usagi and was with her friends, wouldn't she just walk in instead of knock?" he asked Ikuko as he stood up to go answer the door.
"She would," Ikuko agreed. "So I wonder who that is at this time of night."
"That's a good question," Kenji said as he walked toward the door. When he opened it, Kenji's jaw dropped when he saw Usagi's friends, Mamoru, and his friends and not Usagi. "Where's Usagi?" He could tell by the look on Mamoru's face something happened to his daughter and he looked to be in rough shape himself.
"Mr. Tsukino, we need to talk," Minako said.
"And we need your assistance," Kun added. "Can we come in?"
Everyone but Mamoru, as he didn't comment when the Sailor Guardians and the Shitennou Knights spoke of a game plan, had stated that it would be best if Minako and Kun had taken over until they had found Usagi.
Kenji kept his eyes on Mamoru as he stepped aside to let them in. He was worried because if he was with this group, he knew the boy would be with this daughter. "I'll ask again, Mamoru," he said. "Where's my daughter?"
"Beryl has her," Mamoru answered, still not believing his own voice and keeping his back to Kenji. "There was nothing we could do to ensure her safety and ours." He knew which direction Usagi was, and it hadn't changed. He held the direction as if it were a lifeline.
"Mamoru," Kun said with a sigh. He knew it was the first word his friend had said since they left the park and decided on going to the Tsukinos. He did turn around. "There's more to it, Mr. Tsukino, but even as we won…" He looked over at Zoi, knowing Kenji.
"We also lost," Minako said. She looked over at Kenji. "I'm sorry."
"Hi, Mr. Tsukino," Zoi said. "I'm Zoi Saitou. I'm hoping I can borrow, so I can call my dad."
Kenji ignored Zoi. "What do you mean Beryl has her, Mamoru?" he asked, angrily. "Isn't it your responsibility to keep her safe?"
"Kenji?" Ikuko said as she walked from the living room to the foyer, hearing a commotion. She looked over at Mamoru who looked worse for wear and knowing her husband well, he was the source of Kenji's anger. "Mamoru? What's going on?" She looked around for Usagi. "Where's Usagi?"
"We have a lot to talk about, Mrs. Tsukino," Minako said as she grasped for Kun's hand. "Can we sit down? Kun and I will explain everything while Zoi calls his father. Would that be alright? Please?"
Ikuko noticed Kenji was looking at Mamoru with anger. She knew at that moment Queen Beryl had their daughter, and Mamoru felt guilty for not being able to protect her. "Kenji, you will not blame that boy," she told him. Then turned to Zoi, who was the only unfamiliar face in this group. "Help yourself."
"Thank you, Mrs. Tsukino," Zoi said. He was going to walk away, but he stopped. "I don't suppose you remember that we accidentally ran into each other in the Silver Millenium."
Despite the situation, Ikuko smiled. "Literally," she said. "Both of them were in too much of a hurry to get where they needed to be." Ikuko chuckled. "I still see some of that sweet boy in you, and from what I have heard about your father, I'd say that hasn't changed here."
"I…Thank you," Zoi said. Embarrassed, he turned away and walked over to the phone to call his father. When he walked to the phone and picked it up, it felt surreal to him he was calling his dad to let him know he was alive. He dialed his phone number by memory.
He heard Kenta say, "Saitou residence."
"Dad" was the only word Zoi could utter. His throat was clogged with love and heartache. He felt himself melt at the sound of his voice.
"Zoi!?" Kenta said with surprised excitement. "Is that you? Is that really you?"
Zoi laughed then as his dad hit him with those questions. "I just wanted to call you to let you know that Ami, Usagi, and Mamoru were successful in resurrecting me and healing my memories," he told him. "And I just wanted to say I love you."
Kenta sighed and his heart felt good and full. "I love you too, so very much," he said. "Are you going to go to Hikawa Shrine?"
"Not just yet, Dad," Zoi said. He knew that was the shrine Rei lived at and most of his fellow Shitennou had taken temporary residence there. "While I needed to have a very much needed conversation with Mamoru, Beryl kidnapped Usagi." He remembered Ami telling him to use their civilian names, so he could get used to it, to them.
Kenta understood the seriousness of that statement. "How is Mamoru?" he asked, remembering how united Mamoru and Usagi were the night before and how one would watch the other as if they were protecting the other.
"Not good," Zoi said. "Kun and Minako have taken over because he's in that rough of shape." He peeked over in the living room to look over at Mamoru. He noticed he kept looking in the direction he had indicated where Usagi was at. "Dad, there's one more thing."
"What would that be?" Kenta asked. He was curious what his son was going to tell him.
"The reason why Ryo has been so integral in this is because he was my younger brother in my past life," Zoi told his father. "He feared if he said something to Ami it would interfere with her decision. He feared if he told someone that it was to get back to Ami."
"Zoi, slow down," Kenta said. "I'll accept anyone you want in your life. I knew there was a reason why he reminded me of you. His personality and intelligence are very similar to yours." Kenta paused thinking about what he had observed about the other boy. "She could have seen that in Ryo."
"Possible, Dad," Zoi said. "I got to get back to him."
"Zoi, I love you," Kenta said. He didn't want to miss his chance saying that to his son ever again.
"I know, Dad," Zoi said. "I love you, too. Bye."
"Good luck," Kenta said. "Bye."
Zoi hung up the phone and turned to lean against the door jamb between the foyer and living room. He watched Mamoru walk out of the room and understood the reason why wanting to follow him.

Just as Zoi walked away to make the phone to his father, Ikuko told the other teenagers, "In here. I want to hear about everything from when Usagi left this morning with Mamoru to now."
"We'll do the best we can, Mrs. Tsukino," Minako replied. "I just also wanted to let you know that we agreed on no more lies."
"Good," Ikuko said. "That's the way it should be. Usagi was more open about certain things and feelings when I asked her. I didn't feel any apprehensiveness or anger when I asked."
"Mrs. Tsukino," Kun said. "It's been clear to us how much Usagi loves you and your husband and son. We know that about her." Kun turned away and walked to the window. "We should have been watching her or at least one of us had been with her."
"Kun, from the beginning," Ikuko reminded him. She looked over at Kenji who was still glaring at Mamoru. "Kenji, I mean it. He's already feeling guilty enough without you adding to it."
"Ikuko…"
"Kenji, I mean it," Ikuko said. "He can sense where she is. Can't you see he's holding on to it like a lifeline?" She crossed her arms. "But in order for you to help them, we need to know what happened."
"You're aware of their shared abilities then?" Ami asked.
"I am," Ikuko said. "I hope none of you mind, but Usagi told me everything last night." She looked over at Minako. "It was the only way she could be open with me entirely." She looked around the group looking at each teenager. "I will say all of you have gone through a lot." Her eyes laid square on Mamoru who was looking in one direction; she didn't doubt that was the direction her daughter was in. She wanted to say something to him, but she decided to leave it be for now. She tore her gaze away from him to Minako, understanding the etiquette between the Sailor Guardians and Shitennou Knights. "Go ahead, Minako."
Minako nodded and began the tale. Sometimes Kun took over the tale or someone interjected to add something they thought was important, but when they started talking about the events that happened at Starlight Tower, Mamoru found he couldn't relive those events again. It just made him anxious and wanted Usagi even more, so he walked into the foyer and out the back door.
When Zoi wanted to follow him, Ikuko shook her head and laid her hand over his. "No, she said. "Leave him be. He just needs a moment. We all know Usagi wouldn't blame him. Once he realizes that, he'll be steadier." She looked over at Minako. "As much as Usagi loves all of you" She looked over at Kun, "your group too…"
"But Usagi loves and needs him most of all," Rei said with understanding.
"Exactly," Ikuko said, understanding Rei well. She looked over at Kun. "Go ahead."

Outside, Mamoru looked up at the moon. He remembered Friday night, just a few short nights ago, had a full moon, and now it was starting to wane. He remembered how he held her again and brought her back to his apartment. "It's just been three days," Mamoru said to himself as he took the Moon Stick out of his jacket pocket. "How can I love you more now?" He looked it over and then laid it against his chest, against his heart.
Minako had given him the Moon Stick to Mamoru because she believed he needed something tangible, and something that belonged to Usagi, to hold on to. He understood what her reasoning was behind it; she was trying to mimic what the Star Locket meant to Usagi when he had been taken by Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom. He knew she was trying to give him hope and reminding him they had Usagi's life source.
"I love you, Usagi," Mamoru said as he gripped the Moon Stick tight, laying it against his chest, and looked up at the moon. "And if it's the last thing I do, I will find you."

Miles upon miles away, on another continent, Queen Beryl had placed Usagi in a cage. After a few minutes of being kidnapped, she had de-transformed and felt exposed because Queen Beryl knew what she looked like when she wasn't transformed. She didn't know if it was because she was so far from her Legendary Silver Crystal or if it was because her Sailor Guardians had de-transformed. It was something she had speculated on.
While Usagi was pondering, Queen Beryl was trying to figure out why when she tried to brainwash Usagi it didn't work. Even Queen Metalia couldn't offer any answers.
"Damn it!" Queen Beryl shouted. "Why isn't this working?"
Usagi had an idea as to why Queen Beryl wasn't able to brainwash her, but she wasn't going to voice it, especially not in front of Queen Beryl or Queen Metalia. It was the one thing she knew that they didn't. She didn't need to give them another reason to be angry at her. It was the one thing she had an advantage over both of them.
Usagi was afraid of the reason as to why Queen Beryl took her instead of Mamoru, and she was very worried about Mamoru. She knew he would blame himself for not protecting. However, she knew he could sense her, and she could sense Mamoru was using it as a lifeline. It was a small comfort to her, as she knew it was small comfort to him he could sense her.
Usagi thought it was interesting because at first, she could sense Minako and then after a little while, it had switched to Mamoru. She wondered if it had to do with who was holding her Moon Stick. If Mamoru was holding her Moon Stick, she knew Minako well enough to know she would have passed it over to him to give him a lifeline to her.
Usagi knew they were trying to figure out where exactly she was. Even though she didn't have any idea where was at. She did remember Princess Serenity having a conversation with Prince Endymion about Queen Metalia. She remembers he had told her he and King Minos had ordered his Shitennou Knights to search for this cave because of the rumor about Queen Metalia had surfaced. She remembered they had gone on multiple missions looking for the cave, and she wondered now, remembering, if this was the cave where Queen Metalia had been sealed. There, Usagi realized, was the irony.
"You!" Queen Beryl said, turning toward Usagi, cutting through her thoughts. "You know why this isn't working!"
"Maybe because I'm not injured like how Endymion had been," Usagi said, throwing out an idea. One she knew Queen Beryl wouldn't do because for whatever reason, Queen Beryl needed her alive and mostly uninjured; she needed to find out what that reason was. She shrugged, stood up, and started pacing. "You know, Beryl, after I healed him, Endymion held me tight against him, apologizing for everything. That was Friday night, and these past few days, we, meaning me, Endymion, and my Sailor Guardians healed and resurrected all of his Shitennou Knights. His Shitennou Knights, not your Generals." She stopped and looked directly at Queen Beryl. "We did all of that under your nose." She knew she shouldn't push this way, but she had to get it out. "It's a pleasure to see my friends, my Sailor Guardians, fall back in love with his friends, with his Shitennou Knights."
"You're just a little girl," Queen Beryl said with defiantance. "You don't know what you're talking about."
Usagi just gave her a look and arched an eye at her. "Don't I?" she asked, challenging her foe. "You think I don't know what love is?" She just shook her head. "I know more about love than you ever will. I just had to be who I am for him to love me, for his friends to respect me." She dared a smirk at her. "And what did you do? You had to kidnap him and his friends and brainwash them to do what I had already accomplished in both lives."
"You don't even know what I want," Queen Beryl told her. "Metalia has promised me she will get me what I want."
Usagi stopped and then realized a vital piece of information. "Beryl, Metalia used your jealousy against you," she told her. "Do you really want to be used that way? Don't doubt, she is using you."
"I know what I'm doing, little girl," Queen Beryl said, disgusted. "Including the fact why I'm keeping you alive." She grinned now at Usagi. "In order for me to obtain the Legendary Silver Crystal, I need you alive. It was just a sitback you didn't have it with you." She chuckled then, reveling in the facts she's pouring on to Usagi. "Knowing your friends, your Sailor Guardians, they are trying to figure out where this place is. That means Endymion and his Shitennou Knights will be with them. They will bring your precious Legendary Silver Crystal, and I will get it from them when they get here."
"Beryl, she's using you," Usagi told her. "Do you not care about that?" She had a feeling what the answer was to that, but she needed to hear. She needed to hear the confirmation of it.
"As long as I get what I want," Queen Beryl sneered at her, "I don't care." She had such plans for the Legendary Silver Crystal, and she wouldn't be sharing any of it with the princess.
Usagi shouldn't have been surprised at Queen Beryl's comment, but needless to say, she was. "Well, then, Beryl, I just feel sorry for you," she told her, pitying her.
Usagi took the memory from her past life, remembering what Prince Endymion told Princess Serenity. She remembered how scared Princess Serenity was when Prince Endymion told her about Queen Metalia. Everything she recalled was how manipulative Queen Metalia was, and he had asked her to stay in the Moon Kingdom so he didn't have to worry about her getting hurt. Usagi remembered how Princess Serenity felt during that time. She remembered that Princess Serenity had worried for Prince Endymion and for the baby she had just learned she had carried.
Usagi realized, even though she didn't have the baby to worry about just yet, she understood Mamoru, and she worried for him. She knew he felt guilty as he had promised her he would protect her and keep her safe, but she wouldn't blame him. If they went to her parents, she knew what her father's reaction would be which just would lay more guilt on him. Because of the way she loved him, she refused to and couldn't blame him.
"I don't need your pity," Queen Beryl said and then turned away from her. She walked away from Usagi and walked toward her throne. She thought about what Queen Metalia had promised her if she obtained the Legendary Silver Crystal then she could restart the universe. She could make it so Prince Endymion fell in love with her instead of Princess Serenity. She could get everything she wanted.
Usagi sat in the cage. She wanted to pull the Star Locket out of her pocket and play it, but she wouldn't dare, not with Queen Beryl so close. However, the weight of the item had comforted her as it reminded her she's the one who held Mamoru's heart. As long as she remembered that, she knew all of them would make it to the other side. "I love you, Mamoru," Usagi said quietly, needing to say it.
xXx
Back in Tokyo, in the Tsukinos' backyard, the Moon Stick that Mamoru still held close to his heart flashed silver. He saw the flash, and he knew what words Usagi spoke. "I love you, too, Usagi," he said, needing to say it back. "You've got my heart, so I will always find you."
