It was the Saturday following Verosika's time at the shooting range. Millie had stayed with Verosika while she was recording and now they were both leaving for the day.
They went straight to Verosika's apartment and Millie began cooking a recipe that Moxxie had taught her. Unlike last week, they didn't need to make a grocery run because Verosika had coordinated to make sure that she had the necessary ingredients.
Sometime later, they sat down to eat. Verosika took a bite.
"Not bad," Verosika said.
"Ah'll take it," Millie enthusiastically replied. Considering that Verosika likely had a high bar when it came to being impressed with food due to having eaten at some of hell's best restaurants, Millie considered that high praise.
Plus, Millie began thinking, it means that working with Moxxie, his cookin' skills are rubbin' off on me.
"So tell me about yourself, Millie," Verosika said.
"There's not much to tell," Millie began. "Ah like sharp objects and killin' people with 'em. Ah'm a country girl from wrath who grew up on her parents' ranch. I am the oldest of six children."
"Six!" Verosika blurted out in surprise after hearing what she considered to be a large number for that. "That's a huge family. At least compared to how it was just me and my dad growing up."
"What happened with your Ma?"
"Short version: I don't really know. Come to think of it, that's pretty much the long version too."
This earned a blank stare from Millie. Verosika then began explaining what happened with her mother.
"It's kind of fucked up," Verosika continued, "but I prefer to think that she's dead and she would've stayed with me if not for that."
"It's not that fucked up," Millie replied. "At least compared to the idea that she ditched you with your uncle/stepdad because she was a horrible person. Then again, a lot of stuff isn't that fucked up compared to what Moxxie told me about what happened with his parents growing up."
"I know what you mean," Verosika said. "I didn't have the easiest childhood but at least the single dad who raised me wasn't a complete asshole, even by hell's very high standards." Millie had an awkward look on her face. "What's wrong?"
"Honestly," Millie began, "I don't know how I feel about Moxxie tellin' you about his past when he's only known you for like two weeks. On one hand, I understand his heart was in the right place but on the other hand, I'm not happy that he took so long to tell me and told you in much less time."
"It sounded like," Verosika started to counter, "that run in with that Chaz asshole at the party was the first time Moxxie's past has caught up to him since he got out from under his dad's thumb. Maybe Moxxie didn't want to talk about his past because he was terrified of it but between getting through the unplanned encounter with Chaz and then telling you about it, it didn't seem so scary anymore and maybe he felt like sharing his past with me since he was a lot less scared of it."
"If that's true," Millie said as she stroked her chin in contemplation, "that would mean that Moxxie's startin' to come to terms with his past and that would definitely be good for him. On second thought, I'm not upset anymore."
"I'm glad we worked that out," Verosika said. The two of them continued eating for a while.
"I introduced Moxxie to my family a few months ago," Millie spoke up. "It did not go well at all. Which really sucks because from what Moxxie told me about his family experiences, Ah'd really like it if they warmed up to him because he deserves to have some first-hand experience with what a family is supposed to be like but right now, that's just a pipe dream."
There was an awkward silence between them.
"I have no idea what I should say to that," Verosika replied. Millie nodded in understanding and they continued eating. "So last week, Moxxie and I shared some weird dreams we've had with each other."
"He tell you about the one," Millie began to ask, "where he's a robot workin' for some teenaged superheroes?"
"Yeah, that one sounded extremely weird," Verosika answered. "Have you had any memorably weird dreams?"
"There is one," Millie began. "I'm standin' in the desert plains of Wrath. It starts rainin' blood. I drop to my knees, I outstretch my arms and tilt back my head like this," Millie showed Verosika what she was talking about, "and I start baskin' in it like I was really hot and this was coolin' me off."
"From what I understand about you being a fan of bloodshed, that doesn't sound very weird."
"It's not nearly as weird as the dreams Moxxie told me about but ah like to think that if it ever did start rainin' blood, I'd freak out because even fer hell, that ain't right. I've also had other dreams that don't happen the same way but with a recurrin' theme. I'm dressed up like a viking and I'm holdin' a battleax that's taller than I am and I'm usin' it to tear through a bunch of guys like a hot knife through butter."
"Again, nothing about that sounds surprising."
"Your turn to share now: what weird dreams have you had?"
"The only memorably weird dream I've had is this one where I'm dressed in what looks like polka dot pajamas and I'm swinging around the city on what I think is a magic yo-yo."
"that's definitely closer to the level of weirdness in Moxxie's dreams than anything Ah've ever had."
Verosika decided not to share the dream that ended with her marrying Moxxie. While choosing to do that did go against the general spirit of sharing and openness that she was trying to have with Millie, she had absolutely no interest in seeing what Millie's reaction would be.
They finished eating and began cleaning up.
"There's one thing I like to go over with you," Millie said and took a deep breath. "Moxxie told me about how you and him spent the night together with you cuddlin' him like a stuffed animal."
"You'd like the same deal, wouldn't you?" Verosika asked.
"Yes please," Millie replied with a wide smile.
"Sure," Verosika answered. "Did he also tell you about how I gave him a hand job?"
"He did," Millie said. "Ah I'm not gonna ask you to do any finger stuff to me but if you feel differently, ah ain't gonna stop you."
"Fair enough."
They spent the next few hours playing cards and watching TV. Not long after that, it was time for bed. They performed their respective nightly rituals (which included masturbation for Verosika, again) and changed into their sleepwear. Verosika had put on the same oversized T-shirt/panties combo and she wore with Moxxie while Millie put on something similar.
They climbed into bed together with Millie having her back towards Verosika and placing her arms around the country imp girl. Not much later, Verosika put her hands into Millie's panties and started going to work.

"Damn," Millie said in admiration. "Yer at least as good with yer fingers as Moxxie is with his tongue."
"From what Milky's told me, that's very high praise," Verosika said.
The two of them then drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, they were sitting down to breakfast. Verosika had prepared waffles and Millie just had some.
"Not bad," Millie complemented. "Keep in mind that I'm kind of spoiled when it comes to food since I'm on the receivin' end of Moxie's cookin' so overall, this is probably like an eight out of ten."
"Thank you," Verosika said.
After breakfast, Verosika and Millie changed into workout clothes. Verosika wore the same thing she did with Moxxie last week while Millie went with a black and white sports bra/shorts combo.
An hour later, they'd both made it through the routine.
"Whew," Millie sighed. "That is some workout routine you got here."
"It has to be that intense," Verosika began to explain. "I've got a lot riding on making sure I look good. Congrats on making it through the whole hour: Moxxie collapsed from exhaustion around the forty minute mark when we did this last week."
"With what we just went through," Millie began, "I'm impressed he lasted that long."
The two of them showered and changed. They then got into Verosika's car and left for the spa. They checked in and changed into robes.
Millie was lying face down on a table as a masseuse started working on her back. she was greatly enjoying herself, as evident by the moans of pleasure she was letting out. Verosika was standing to the side and looking over Millie. They decided to take massages in turns due to concerns about possibly being so vulnerable. She grinned at how much Millie was enjoying the experience.
"She's going to want the happy ending when you're done," Verosika told the masseuse.
"Ah thought that was just for guys," Millie blurted out in surprise.
"Not here," Verosika answered playfully.

Later, Verosika and Millie had gone through a few more activities and were now in a sauna.
"This actually," Millie began, "isn't that hot compared to how it gets in Wrath durin' a bad summer. Still nice though."
"Glad you like it," Verosika said. "You enjoy yourself?"
"Oh yeah," Millie answered. "Didn't care for the herbal facial mask but the mud bath was great and of course there was that massage," Millie said with a dreamy look. "That pedicure you got looked borin'. Probably would have passed on that even if Ah had feet. Thanks for bringin' me along."
"You're very welcome," Verosika replied with a pleased expression. She had greatly enjoyed herself with Millie. She felt confident that Millie would at least be onboard with the idea of the two of them sharing Moxxie.
And if anything develops between me and Millie, even better, Verosika thought with a smile.
They exited the spa and met up with Moxxie and Vortex. Verosika was going to go shopping so she wanted her security detail on duty. Moxxie and Millie had changed into different clothes than what they usually wore in order to aid in their roles as Vortex's covert backup. Millie was wearing jeans, a sports jersey, a backwards cap and black sunglasses. Moxxie decided to go the drag show route with a short blonde wig, a purple jacket over a white dress with makeup to cover his freckles.
Vortex would walk alongside Verosika to deter anyone from fucking with her. Moxxie would walk behind Verosika while Millie would in front and her sunglasses had mirrored sections that acted like side view mirrors so she could see behind her.
Sometime later, Verosika was walking along a sidewalk carrying several shopping bags. She was tempted to put Vortex on pack mule duty but decided that him needing his hands free in case shit went down would be more important.
Moxxie was walking along when he saw two incubi and a female imp in between him and Verosika pull out hand guns. Moxxie pulled out his own pistols and opened fire. One of the incubi managed to shoot his gun but Vortex placed himself in front of Verosika when he heard gunfire, taking the shot in his back. He was largely unarmed thanks to wearing the chainmail shirt he got from Beelze.
At the same time this happened, three hellhounds (two males and one female) in between Verosika and Millie took out pistols. Millie saw this due to her mirrored glasses. She took out two knives and threw them at the female and one of the males while drawing out two new knives. She ran up to the unharmed male hound and stabbed him repeatedly. Once she was sure he was dead, she went back to the male she had injured earlier. She stabbed him but he fought through the pain and slammed her into a concrete wall. He then put his hand around Millie's through and proceeded to choke her. Millie countered by throwing a knife into his throat, making him release his grip. She then finished him off.
While Millie was dealing with the male hounds, their female companion aimed at Verosika. Vortex shoved her aside and took the bullet meant for the pop star. Vortex charged the female assailant, who shot two more times but he powered through. Vortex used his fangs to rip out her throat, causing her to drop to the ground.
"Nice job Vortex," Millie complimented.
"Is everyone all right?" Moxxie asked.
"I'm fine," Millie answered.
"I've been better," Vortex replied through labored breaths. With the threat dealt with, Vortex's adrenaline wore off and the bruises from the stopped bullets started hurting more.
"Here's some morphine to help with that," Moxxie said as he took out a syringe and injected some of it into Vortex: enough to numb the pain a little but not enough to stop Vortex from walking under his own power.
Verosika's heart was racing. She was taking quick, shallow breaths and her hands were shaking. She reached into her purse and grabbed a flask. She unscrewed the top and started downing the Beelze-juice inside, emptying roughly three quarters of the flask. She instantly felt better. Her heart slowed and her hands stopped shaking.
"Are you all right, Verosika?" Moxxie asked.
"I am now," Verosika answered.
"I suggest we get back to your car," Moxxie continued, "go to your place and regroup from there."
"Sounds good," Verosika agreed. She put the flask back in her purse, let go and placed her hand on her revolver. She considered using it to blast the heads off of her attackers but decided not to. It wasn't public knowledge yet that she was armed and she decided that she should keep it that way to take the next attackers by surprise.
Fuck, there probably is going to be a next attack, Verosika thought as she grabbed her shopping bags and started walking towards her car. The four of them made it to her car. Verosika started keeping a few first aid supplies in her car at Moxie's suggestion. She grabbed two instant ice packs and gave them to Vortex.
"Here you go, big guy," Verosika said as she gave the ice packs to Vortex. He twisted and shook a pack to activate it and placed it on the area on his chest that had been shot.
"Thanks," Vortex said as he sat down in the backseat of Verosika's car. "This will definitely help with the bruises by the time the morphine wears off. Millie, can you get the bruise on my back?"
"Sure thing hon," Millie agreed as she took the second pack, activated it and applied it to Vortex's back.
"I think I should drive," Moxxie said to Verosika.
"If this is about the Beelze-juice I had," Verosika began, "I'm actually a better driver when I'm buzzed."
"I have a video recording on my phone," Moxxie started to counter, "from sober you saying that is absolutely not true and that Millie, Vortex and I have a lot of leeway to keep you from getting behind the wheel of a car if you say that."
"Oh yeah, that happened," Verosika said as she remembered making that recording. "Take the keys."
Verosika gave Moxxie the keys. He adjusted the seat and mirrors for his height and they left.
Verosika began thinking about the current status of her life.
If people are going to keep coming after me, Verosika began thinking, I'm definitely not going to give up and wait to be killed. And with Moxxie, Millie and Vortex making whoever wants me dead have to work for it, I like my odds.
