Welcome back to Elemental Crisis Book II. Last time, our cadre of heroes entered Wayne Industries' headquarters and took the secret elevator down to the Batcave to get the basics on the Joker sightings in Gotham City from Batwing, including the reveal of the new Mad Hatter working for Joker. But once they do, there's a meeting to attend with Renee Montoya on the Beth Kane murder. So, what awaits on one of Gotham's rooftops? Read on to discover...

(Our scene resumes several hours after the League, Legends, and the dragons arrived in Gotham City. The night is clouded, looks like there may be rain before dawn. But up against the clouds, a familiar light soon shines. The famous Batsignal has been lit once again, beckoning to Gotham's Dark Knight. Only now, Jim Gordon isn't standing beside it, instead there stands a female detective. This is the famous Renee Montoya. But soon enough, she's not alone, as Batwoman arrives on the roof)

Renee Montoya: (Checks the time) You're late. Batmobile in need of a tuneup?

Batwoman: It's a long story. (Hears wings beating overhead) And you're about to meet the brunt of it.

(And soon enough, Spyro and Cynder descend into frame, surprising Renee Montoya greatly)

Renee Montoya: (Looking at the fact that there's two dragons in front of her) You'd think after working in Gotham for so long, nothing would surprise me anymore. And yet, it still does.

Batwoman: Spyro, Cynder, Detective Renee Montoya, my contact in the GCPD.

Cynder: A pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Renee Montoya: (Caught off guard, and blushing slightly) Feeling's mutual. Though, I have to ask... Why...?

Batwoman: (Interrupting her) Where are there two dragons working with me right now?

Renee Montoya: Yeah. What's the deal here?

Batwoman: These two are the experts in our new Joker.

Renee Montoya: What do these two know about that lunatic?

Spyro: That your world's Joker hasn't returned.

Renee Montoya: Come again?

Cynder: This Joker is from another universe. As are we, honestly.

Renee Montoya: You've got to be pulling my leg.

Spyro: I assure you, we're not. And this Joker isn't working alone.

Renee Montoya: Is this new Hatter from another universe too then?

Batwoman: No.

Cynder: This version of the Joker answers to another power, a perennial nemesis of Spyro and myself.

Batwoman: And it looks like they're using some of the missing Bat Trophies to create lackeys to help in a search organized by that other power.

Renee Montoya: So we need to be on the lookout for more villains to turn up? (Sighs frustratedly) Great, this is turning into Jim Gordon's Gotham all over again. Who's coming back next? Penguin? Phantasm? Clayface?

Batwoman: We're not sure. But we're getting off track. You said you had information on Beth Kane's murder?

Renee Montoya: Not very much, but yeah. This new Joker's an ace at covering their tracks. But we do have something on this new Mad Hatter.

Batwoman: That being?

Renee Montoya: Security footage. Managed to ID the new man in the hat. (Hands Batwoman a file, which she opens revealing the new Mad Hatter's identity) Kid's name is Liam Crandle. Some sort of fanboy of Alice's. Makes sense he'd be stalking her then.

Spyro: Did this Crandle mention anything they might be looking for?

Renee Montoya: (A little caught off guard that Spyro said that) Yeah, actually. Looking through Kane's cell phone, we found a message from Crandle indicating he was looking for a "shade". Nobody's sure what it means.

Cynder: I think I do.

Batwoman: The Element we detected here in Gotham.

Cynder: Exactly. It's Shadow that they're after.

Renee Montoya: I'm sorry, you're losing me here. Elements? What are you talking about?

Batwoman: Long story short, these two's enemy stole their unique powers from them, eight power sets in total, four for each. We recovered one of them in Central City and the rest were scattered to the winds, but we picked one up here in Gotham.

Renee Montoya: That Shadow thing you mentioned.

Cynder: Exactly.

Spyro: So if this Hatter and Joker thought Beth had the Shadow element, or at least knew where it was...

Batwoman: We need to know everywhere Beth Kane's been in the past 24 hours.

Renee Montoya: So, what? We find this Shadow Element, we find this new Joker?

Batwoman: Pretty much. We need to get back to the Batcave and start figuring this out.

Renee Montoya: Call me if you get a lead.

Cynder: Gladly.

(And with that, the two dragons take off back in the direction of the Batcave, while Renee Montoya tries to address Batwoman)

Renee Montoya: You keep some pretty weird company... (Looks out and sees Batwoman is gone) Ryan. (Can't help but laugh at herself) Now I know how Jim Gordon feels.

(And as Renee Montoya shuts off the Batsignal, our scene ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. So, we finally know what Element is hidden in Gotham. And big surprise here, it's Shadow. What other Element would make it's hiding place in the home city of the Dark Knight? Now there comes one question. What did Beth Kane know about this Element's whereabouts? Tune in next time to start figuring out! Same time... same channel!
